About the author

Simon Scarrow is a UK-based author, born in Nigeria, and now living in Norfolk. He completed a master's degree at the University of East Anglia, and, after working at the Inland Revenue, went into teaching as a lecturer at City College, Norwich.

He is best known for his "Eagle" series. This is Roman empire military fiction, starting with the second invasion of Britain, and continuing with subsequent adventures in every corner of the empire. The stories are told through the eyes of two centurions, Macro and Cato. To date there are eighteen books in the series.

Scarrow has also written a series of four novels on the Napoleonic wars, focusing on the lives of Wellington and Napoleon.

Ogni volta la stessa storia, un anno ad aspettarlo e 3 giorni per leggerlo, ma con Simon Scarrow è così, ha creato 2 dei miei personaggi preferiti, lunga vita a lui e che continui a intrattenerci ancora per molti anni a venire!

Leider der bisher erstmal letzte Teil der Reihe. Mir hat er gefallen obwohl er wahrscheinlich der brutalste der Reihe ist und am Ende nur noch Tod und Verwüstung über Britannien gebracht wird.

Questo libro ha un ritmo lento, forse troppo per coprire la rivolta di Boudicca con una trilogia (il volume conclusivo uscirà in italiano il prossimo anno). Penso che due volumi sarebbero stati più che sufficienti, l’autore ha allungato troppo il brodo. La vera azione é nelle ultime 30 pagine, tuttavia non la da dire sull’abilità narrativa ed evocativa di Scarrow.
