When aid workers Will, Melanie, and Jon find themselves tangled in an incident with devastating consequences, throwing them into a world of chaos and despair. Can their loved ones help them find their way back to life?
Mission is the first in this series of interconnected novellas.
Will Since Katie and I split up, I've been doing everything I can to win her back. I've tried to be the man she and our daughter need, but it wasn't enough for her. Instead, I threw myself into my work. That's when it happened, and my world turned upside down.
I don't want Katieto see me at my lowest, but she's the only help I have. I'm her new mission, and she won't accept 'no' for an answer.
These novellas are interconnected but can be read standalone. The book is written in British English and includes adult content. Please read the trigger warnings.
Author Dani Elias loves writing about British working-class hotties and the women who are their happily-ever-after. Her stories are short, sweet & steamy.
She lives in the South of England and has a great passion for travel, something that does appear in her books as well.

Will's story hit home for me for a variety of reasons. First, I've spent the last few days laid up being sick and binge watching the TV show Madam Secretary. Reading parts of this story, I was watching it all play out in my head at the same time. Second, without giving too much of the story away, I've recently come to relate to the relationship dynamic that Katie and Will found themselves navigating. I very much have been dealing with Will's perspective of things, and reading certain chapters from Katie's POV gave me a better appreciation for myself, my partner, and what it means to be physically vulnerable.
Mission is the first novella in the Aftermath series. For such a short story, it's full of emotions and details that pulls you into Will and Katie's 2nd chance. The story follows what happens after Will gets injured on a mission and Katie steps in to assist Will during his recovery since he is her ex husband and the father of her daughter, but it's not that simple when these 2 were always meant to be. This story is about healing and being vulnerable and learning to accept help and understanding. Can't wait for the next story.
The first in a trio about aid workers Will, Melanie and Jon. After a devastating accident while working Will must accept help from his ex Katie.
Katie and Will must work together to help Will heal after the accident. Sometimes in a relationship, you must separate in order to realize the best resolution.
This a fast paced read about second chances and learning when to ask for help. Book 2, Escape, will pick up with Melanie.
Thank you to author, Dani Elias, and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read this book. I received an epub and am leaving my review voluntarily.
This was a cute little novella. It had so many feels! Watching Katie and Will come back together, care for each other. Watching them grow back together as a couple and a family was really heartwarming. I also love how Katie's mom was willing to ask her the tough questions to get her to look inside of herself and see what she truly wanted. Overall a good read, and I'm definitely excited to see the next installment of this little series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Will and Katie truly cared deeply for each other. That never went away, their love for one another never wavered. Katie was just scared and the unknowing was torture but i loved seeing them work it out. It was sweet and beautiful and can’t wait to see what happens next.
This is Book 1 of the Aftermath Series, which is a series of interconnecting novels that can also be read as standalones.
Yay - set in the UK so a Brit, I love this and was looking out for our swears and insults 😆.
In this story, we follow Will and Katie, who love each other very much, but Katie is struggling with the fear of potentially losing Will due to his dangerous security job. They make the heartwrenching decision to divorce and co-parent their young daughter.
Four years later and Will is injured on a job...
Katie is a great character, and I really felt for her. Being the wife of a man with an extremely dangerous job can't be easy, and it really hammered home what thousands of wives go through all the time. I've been lucky in that when I met my husband, I didn't have to deal with this worry but I can really empathise with Katie as I know women who's husbands are in similar situations with work.
I liked Will as a character even if he was a bit slow on the uptake that a job isn't worth more than his family! It was really sad to see that it took a severe accident and the inability to do anything himself, for Will's perspective to change - but we got there in the end!
The story was so moving to see these two characters interact when Will is at his most vulnerable, and the care and love just shine through the story.
This was a great second chance romance. Will’s job tore them apart and now it is bringing them back together. Katie couldn’t live with the fear every time he went away on a mission so they divorced. When Will is seriously injured and need someone to take care of him Katie steps in and the two reconnect. His recovery isn’t pretty but Katie is steadfast through it all. It was great to see them reconnect over a stretch of time and not right away after being around each other often.
The epilogue has me really looking forward to the rest of the series to see how the others from the mission handled things.
I received a free copy of the book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Dani Elias has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I discovered her work in late 2024 and since, I have been ravenous for her work. What I love about Elias’ books is that, though they are mostly novellas, you are still left with a sense of completion after reading her books. After every book, I always feel like I have a complete sense of the characters, their surroundings, their stories, and the characters are never the same people they were when we first meet them in story; they grow and progress and always become better people. In such a short amount of time, Elias is able to create complete and dynamic characters that are part of compelling stories.
𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 is one such book. It is a second chance romance that will have you smiling, hoping, crying, and believing in love again!
I have to be honest, 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 tore me apart and put me back together beautifully. I am not sure if I am getting a little more emotional as I age but this one was a tearjerker for me. Dani, from the very first paragraph, captured my heart and drew me into Katie and Will’s story and before I knew it, the book was over, and I was left in a state of complete bliss. I was so engrossed in Will and Katie’s story that I was able to read 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 in just one sitting.
In 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, we meet Katie and Will. After years of marriage, they have come to the proverbial “end of the road.” Love is not the problem. A desire to be with each other is not lacking but Katie is tired. As a Safety and Security Advisor for an NGO, Will is often away from home and when he is gone, Katie does nothing but worry. A constant state of fear for Will’s safety is no longer sustainable for Katie and though she loves Will, Katie decides that it would be best for them to go their separate ways by way of getting a divorce.
But what happens when what Katie has always feared becomes a reality and Will finds himself in a position where he needs Katie now more than ever before? Will them being forced to be around each other heal old wounds and help them find their way back to each other or will it further show that love is just not enough to sustain their relationship?
This story was so beautifully written. It is a story of love, loss, healing, and forgiveness. As a person that has been married for quite some time, I was able to see myself and my husband in this couple. Sometimes, you love someone so much that it hurts. Though you are willing to do any and everything for that person, sometimes, we have to look within ourselves, show ourselves some grace, and do what is best for “self” vs “us.” Marriage takes a lot of work, and we often have to fight for what you want. As the saying goes, we have to sometimes let go of the things we love and if it comes back, then you know for sure it was meant to be.
I completely fell in love with Katie, Will, and their little family. The way these two respected each other, despite their circumstance, and the way they made sure to set an excellent example for their daughter Phoebe was motivational and beautiful to see. Will and Katie made me believe in love again. When push came to shove, Katie did not think twice about being there for Will. 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 was an intense read and I went through so many different emotions during my reading journey. I cried, there were moments of fear, but at the same time, I laughed and smiled, and after all was said and done, I LOVED this read. For the romance readers who love their spice, this one has tons of it for you! So yes, you will get spice and tons of different emotions. This is a perfect blend of spice and plot!
𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 is book one in a series of interconnected novellas in Elias’ 𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒉 series and I cannot wait to read the remainder of the books in the series.
Without question, I would definitely recommend 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. It is a short, fast-paced read with all of the feels!
I love a second chance and always root for one. Katie and Will are divorced and it wasn’t for lack of love but due to his job. I loved how the situation was handled and shows it isn’t always as simple as getting a new job. From the beginning I was invested in these two and when the accident happens you see how just because a relationship ends does not mean the love is gone.
Will is a owns his own security risk aid company and this puts him going to dangerous places and while he is dedicated to his job he always saw it as a way to provide for Katie and Phoebe and it ultimately caused him to lose Katie.
Katie while she initiated the divorce hoping it would help her not to worry about will and how dangerous his job is she is very aware that no matter the time and distance she is still in love with him and it is obvious when she doesn’t really hesitate to take care of him
Their daughter little firecracker Phoebe is the best she is just coasting by without noticing the growing affection going on with her parents.
As sweet as the moments are it does also deal with the heaviness of his injury and the bathroom scene had me tearing up. I do wish it was a little longer and we had more of the relationship prior to the divorce and more of the in between but still a great read.
Cannot wait for Mel and Jons stories to see their side of the accident.

⭐️ARC REVIEW⭐️ Aftermath Series by @dani_elias_Books
This is book 1 in a Novella Series from @dani_elias_books, centuring around 3 members of a NGO group providing aide in a foreign country. During their most recent mission and incident happens during a rescue attempt which leaves all 3 members with scars and not all of them visible. Each book is the retelling of the incident from the main characters POV and how they are facing the aftermath… the people around them who are just as affected or are just trying to provide love and support.
Book 1 is Mission:4.5 ⭐ / 2.5🔥🌶
Will is retired Military, he lives for his missions and that was what led to his divorce with Katie. However, when Will is injured during the mission and needs assistnace at home, Katie and their daughter Phoebe move in to help. Will and Katie realize they never stopped loving each other it was only ever the risk of Will’s job and the fear it left Katie with on every mission. But now that that fear has been faced she realizes she’d rather live with the fear than without Will. This mission was eye opening for WIll and its made him realize his focus was on the wrong mission all these years. His mission was at home with Katie and Phoebe… Dani executes a wonderful short second chance lovers (after divorce) finding their way and healing on multiple levels.
The final chapter of a heart wrenching journey for all 3 that Dani wraps up in a perfect epilogue of happily ever after!

If you love second-chance romance with a side of action and heartfelt emotion, Mission is the perfect quick read! This novella packs an emotional punch. Even in its short length, this novella delivers a satisfying mix of action, emotional depth, and character growth. Will struggles with his sense of identity outside of his job, while Katie wrestles with whether leaving was truly the right choice. Their daughter, Phoebe, adds another layer of warmth and connection to their story, making their reunion even more meaningful.
While the book is a fast read, it doesn’t skimp on intensity—both in the action-packed moments and in the quiet, tender ones. Watching Will and Katie navigate their second chance at love is both heartbreaking and heartwarming, making this a story that sticks with you. If you enjoy romances with high stakes, emotional depth, and a well-earned happily-ever-after, Mission is well worth the read. This novella delivers a compelling mix of love, loss, and healing. Can’t wait to read book 2.
I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.
Aid workers Will, Melanie, and Jon find themselves in a terrible incident that sends them all to the hospital and back home. Will and Katie have divorced, but Will is going to need around the clock the care. Katie agrees to be Will’s caregiver, so she and their daughter Phoebe moves into Will’s house for a few weeks to take care of him. The divorce was supposed to make things easier for Katie; the divorce was supposed to make her worry less. This time with Will makes her realize that maybe it didn’t do what she thought it was doing.
This is book 1 in the Aftermath novella series. While this is a romance novella, this really has some very deep themes. There are so many people who have loved ones that are in the military, or are government contractors, and go into dangerous situations. Families go months without seeing their loved ones, sometimes days, weeks, months without hearing from them. It’s hard for all members of the family – those that are at home waiting, and those that are in the position. I would have loved to see some deeper discussions between Katie and Will about this. I do think that the author did a great job of providing both perspectives and let the reader get in the head of both characters.
Will is amazing with this daughter, Phoebe. Even though he isn’t around all the time, he seems just have a special way with her no matter the time and distance. It was really so heartwarming to read.
There are some very realistic scenes in here as a matter of recovery. Elias dealt with these scenes with dignity and care. I think there is something very special about this book, Elias’ ideas, and Elias’ writing style.
I received an ARC of this story but all opinions are my own.
📖: 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5/5 🥵: 🌶️🌶️/5
Mission is the first story in the interconnected Aftermath series, which follows a group of 3 people involved in a dangerous incident whilst working abroad for an NGO. This book follows Will, the security and safety office on the trip, and Katie, his ex-wife and the mother of their 7 year old daughter Phoebe. The two are thrown together in the aftermath of the incident.
I loved this story. I think the most important thing about it was that Will and Katie's love shone through so much. The prologue, showing the divorce four years earlier, really highlighted that they always loved each other, and it was Katie's fear for Will which meant she couldn't continue to watch him leave on dangerous work projects.
As it's a novella we don't learn loads about Katie, other than her immense love for Phoebe and Will, or about Will, other than his obvious love for his family and how his sense of self was so tied up in his job. However, the relationship was so beautiful and emotional as they take care of each other.
I loved the sweet edge that Phoebe brought to the story, and the hint of more information in the interconnected stories really intrigued me.
What a story! For a short novella it packs a punch
We meet Will and Katie, ex partners who share a daughter. They’ve recently split due to his work. He has a dangerous job and the stress of her worrying about it and him not coming home has caused the split.
We also meet Jon and Melanie, Wills co-workers. Due to a devastating accident all 3 are sent back home, and Will’s world was turned upside down.
He needs help and Katie is the first one to jump in and volunteer. Will doesn’t want that, he doesn’t want her pity. He doesn’t want her to see him at his lowest. But he has no choice to accept the help.
This novella tugs right at heart strings from jump. The emotions of the split to the emotions about the incident and what it does to Will mentally. We see Will dealing with what happened the best he can and both MCs trying to deal with their feelings.
We see the connection between the two MCs, You can see they love each other, that’s clear, but is love enough??? Katie has to think about not only her but their daughter as well.
This is a second chance love story that has you realising love is transcendent beyond distance.
MISSION is the first in a series of interconnected novellas each one concentrating on a member of the team.
The next book is ESCAPE.
This was an ARC given to me by the author. I am new to Dani’s writing, having read her Greenview Manor Series and love her writing. This book doesn’t disappoint and Dani has proved she can write with a compelling story no matter what trope it is.
A new month means a lot of things, but one of them… a new fresh and exciting novella by Dani Elias! Ready to join this ‘Mission’ and dive into the story together?
First things first, let’s meet Will. Will used to think running into disaster zones was easier than dealing with his feelings… Turns out, disaster zones have nothing on awkward run-ins with your ex!
As an aid worker, Will travels to Tajikistan for a new mission, but when things go horribly wrong, he’s forced to come home, even if that means bruised, broken, and as emotionally available as a brick wall. The worst part of it all? Katie, the woman he never really got over, is standing right there.
Katie left Will because she couldn’t handle the stress of loving a man whose job came with a permanent “May Not Return” disclaimer, but now that he’s back she tells herself she’s only helping him for their daughter, Phoebe. Between us, let’s be honest, do we really mind that she has a weak spot for this ‘disaster’ of a man?
With old feelings creeping in and new flames awakening, this story is about to make your coffee breaks a lot more interesting! Think less “quick caffeine fix” and more “oops, I just read five chapters and my coffee’s cold.” With Dani Elias’s signature evocative writing, you’ll be flipping pages like it’s a competitive sport, riding every emotional high and low along the way. And trust me, there’s plenty more where that came from! Make sure to check out Dani’s socials, because this rollercoaster? It’s just getting started!
This is the first novella in an interconnected trilogy that follows the lives of a group of aid workers.
Will, a man dedicated to helping and rescuing people, finds his world turned upside down when he gets injured and is forced to rely on his ex-wife and daughter for care.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the books I’ve read by Dani Elias, and this novella was no exception. I was captivated by the journey of Katie and Will as they navigated the challenges of rebuilding their relationship. The pacing was fast-paced and engaging, making it an easy read that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The emotional depth of the story was palpable, allowing me to connect deeply with the characters and their feelings. The combination of heavy themes with lighthearted moments created a unique and delightful balance.
I eagerly anticipate the continuation of this series and can’t wait to see how the story unfolds. If you’re looking for a quick and enjoyable romance novel, particularly one that explores the theme of second chances, this is an excellent choice for you.
Thank you, @dani_elias_books and @happilybookedpr, for providing me with an e-ARC!
This is the first in a series of interconnected novellas, but can be read standalone.
Mission is a very real exploration of a relationship sacrificed, but not yet over. The love that Will and Katie still have for each other is evident right from the start. Katie is trying to navigate how to support Will in his recovery without becoming too emotionally invested, for her sake and for Phoebe's. But when circumstances force them to be vulnerable with each other they must reevaluate what they want in life.
As a novella this is a short story, but it's a rich and complete story and it didn't take long for me to love these characters. I'm looking forward to the next two stories in this series that are coming very soon. Thank you to Dani Elias and Happily Booked PR for the advance copy, my opinions are my own.
I loved this! This is my favorite one from Dani Elias so far!
Will is a man who helps people and saves people, but when he gets injured and had to be the one that is getting taken care of by his ex-wife and daughter it flips his world upside. I loved Will's story and how Dani made him strong, but still vulnerable and showed humility. Not that he had a choice in some of it. He was also such a good father.
Katie likes things in order and a routine. So moving in with her ex-husband take care of him ruined her normal ruin, but she knew it was the right thing to do. She helped him at his lowest. She still loved him you could tell by the way she took care of him. She was also a wonderful mother.
I loved Phoebe. I love kid in books but she lived up to her nickname, Firecracker perfectly. The girl has so much energy, love and want to help in her little body. Kind of like her father.
I've said this about other books from Dani, but this book at full length I would have loved it even more. This is my favorite Dani book I've read!
Mission is the first novella in the Aftermath romance series. Will works as an aid worker, throwing himself into dangerous situations halfway across the world on a daily basis. That was the reason his marriage to Katie ended, but after an accident takes Will out of the game for a while he starts to reassess the priorities in his life. This injury might just be what he needs to get him to pull back from work a bit and get his wife and daughter back.
I have loved everything I’ve read by Dani Elias and this book was no different. I really enjoyed seeing Katie and Will learning to be together again as Katie took care of Will. This novella was a quick read that was fast paced and so easy to get lost in. The emotion in this book was so real and easy to feel. The story was both heavy and cute, making for a great combination. This was one of those books that captivated me and was so hard to put down. I can’t wait to see how the rest of this series plays out! If you are looking for a quick romance read and enjoy second chance romances this is a good choice for you.
This is such a touching second chance romance. Mission is the 1st book in the Aftermath series. It is a quick read with lots of emotion, character growth and an adorable spunky little one.
While Will is dedicated to his job as Safety & Security Advisor for NGO that takes him on dangerous rescue missions it also is the reason that he lost his wife. Katie is a receptionist and she initiated the divorce in hopes of not worrying about Will in these dangerous risks.
Then Will’s life gets altered when he is injured and now is being taken care of by his ex wife Katie and their daughter Phoebe. During this journey they find themselves rekindling their relationship and their daughter was an absolute highlight to them finding their way back.
The author conveyed her writing beautifully which made me feel all the emotions the characters were going through and totally invested in this story. It is such a heartfelt read that I think anyone who likes second chance romances would enjoy. Looking forward to the next one.
His job was the reason his marriage broke up. Could it be that it also brings them back together?
This is the first of three connected novellas centered around three individual working in a war torn country who are involved in a tragic accident. They are forced to deal with the aftermath, trying to desperately to overcome the horror, the despair and the memories.
The thing I liked the most about this story is how well the characters were developed. We get a good feel for the characters within the first few pages. From the first, I felt the emotions of the characters. Ms. Elias paints a picture of pain and of loss. My heart hurt for Will when he hit rock bottom after the accident. As he struggled to climb back from the abyss, I felt his struggle and couldn't help but cheer him on.
I was in awe of the depth of feeling that Ms. Elias was able to evoke in such a small number of pages. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this story, but it certainly wasn't the complete, well written, deeply moving story I found within the pages.
There is an art to making a short novella style book have meaning and Dani Elias always succeeds in exactly that. This book is woven around Will and Katie. Finding their marriage couldn’t survive Will’s job as an aid worker that takes him to some dangerous parts of the world. Katie just can’t bear the thought of always being afraid that something bad will happen to Will. So she packs up her and their daughter’s stuff and painfully leaves Will. Even though you can tell they both love each other. Finding herself divorced and Will questioning if he’s not good enough to work as anything else but an aid worker. A twist of fate has Katie now stepping in to help Will. And now will they be able to realize their love is still there between them. I loved this quick story. It has great insight into how hard it can be on a relationship when one partner has a dangerous job and the emotional toll it can take. I also loved the sweet relationship between Will and his daughter. The relationship between Katie and Will is rooted in their love that is palpable in these chapters. I am looking forward to reading the next book on this series!
“I feel vulnerable, humiliated, but also … cared for.”
Mission is the first novella in the Aftermath series. It’s a short read (137 pages), but a pretty intense one. Like in any Dani’s novels, you don’t even realize that you have read the whole book in a blink of an eye. This one is pretty steamy, and intense, as we follow Will in a second chance romance with his ex, and as he recovers from an incident that happened abroad. He is injured, but he also has to ponder his whole life and career, and I loved to follow his doubts. I adored the relationship he has with Katie. In the prologue we already know that they still love each other, but that sometimes Love isn’t enough. Even in a very short amount of pages, the author manages to picture very human characters, multilayered –and a true ray of sunshine with little Phoebe. If you are looking for a short read, to get out of a slump for example, then this one might be what you are looking for!
Thank you to the author and happily booked for the ARC. My opinions are my own.
We get to see a relationship and bond between two people who are struggling with the fear of losing their loved one. You can tell from the start that Katie and Will love each other dearly, but their relationship is strained with his dangerous job. Katie lives in fear every day that something might happen to him, and then one day something does. This story shows the caring Katie has for Will that she is able to put aside her doubts and fears and take care of Will in his time of need. It also shows how Will can reflect on his life and realize that family is the most important thing in life and he needs to be there for his daughter and wife.
I really enjoyed seeing these two interact with each other. You can feel the love they have for each other and how strong it is, even through everything they have had to go through to get to this moment.
Mission is book 1 in the Aftermath Series. This was a quick read. I finished it in one sitting. It follows Will and Katie after their divorce due to Will's job as an aid worker. Will’s job sends him to dangerous places for long periods at a time. The distance and constant worrying is what tore his and Katie’s marriage apart. Now their primary focus is co-parenting their daughter Phoebe.
Time hasn’t stopped Will and Katie from loving each other. When Will suffers an accident, Katie rushes back to Will’s side to help him recover. Now the question is will the job and dangers that tore them apart, bring them back together?!
“If I have to live with the fear, then I want the reward too. I want the love, the laughter... all of it.”
Another great read from Elias - still so very much enjoying that she writes romances with older characters, facing real life struggles and how they navigate them.
We are introduced to the three characters of this novella series - Will, Mel and Jon - and Mission focuses on Will and his recovery after an incident overseas, which causes some forced proximity and second chance romance feels between him and his ex-wife, Katie. Throw in a feisty seven-year-old daughter, and this novella is packed full of action, emotions, the odd laugh, and a sprinkling of spice.
I love the depth of characters and emotions in this one; both Will and Katie had issues to work through - whether physically, mentally or emotionally - and it's definitely the aspect that kept me reading.
It's an easy to consume second chance romance, that has an overarching plot that will lead into the rest of the series - I'm very interested to know what comes of the following entries.
Thank you to the author and @happilybookedpr for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.
Book one in the Aftermath series was a strong introduction to this series of novellas and I am eagerly anticipating the others!
This novella featured Will and Katie right after their separation and divorce. I was rooting for their relationship and hoping for their second chance! This story definitely represents the for better and worse in wedding vows.
Katie was there for Will after his accident and took care of him even when she didn’t have to and I think this definitely helped to strengthen their bond and relationship.
I can’t wait to read the others because I’m hoping we get more of their story!
I really loved Phoebe, their daughter. She definitely added character to the story and I loved the parts where she was featured.
Thank you so much to Dani Elias and Happily Booked PR for an advance copy of this novella!
Will's job is running rapid risk assessment for the GHHI, a NGO that sends teams all over the world to help those areas that don't have access to much needed medical aid. When he and his team get trapped under a mudslide, Will was the one most injured. When Katie gets the call that he's been brought home and hospitalized, she takes it upon herself to help with his recovery. Their daughter, Pheobe, helps settle a lot of the tension in the beginning while both parents go through emotions and feelings they haven't since their divorce a few years earlier. The most heart wrenching moment was when Will was at his most vulnerable, but Katie stuck by him through it all. Will and Katie's struggle between love and pain was so real in this book and I couldn't not love Phoebe in all this. Such a wonderful book to read that showed compassion and love surpassing all obstacles in the end.
I love all things Dani Elias, and this does not disappoint; this is book one in The Aftermath Series. Aid workers Will, Melanie, and Jon; are medical and security advisors working in The "Stan" area. This is Will's story. Will is Katie's husband and she is is finalizing their divorce. They have a seven year old daughter Phoebe; whom they both dearly love. Katie is tired of never knowing when Will is coming home, or if he's coming home. She gets worried when he doesn't answer her emails. She is in constant fear. He was supposed to call for Phoebe's birthday but didn't. Katie gets a call that Will was severely injured in a landslide. Can she cope with this, or does she walk away? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Dani Elias!!!!
A touching story about second chances. The book follows Will and Katie, a divorced couple still connected through their daughter, Phoebe. Will’s dangerous job caused their marriage to fall apart, but after he suffers a serious injury, Katie steps in to help him recover. Watching their journey as they reconnect was emotional and beautifully written.
I liked how the story explored their past and the reasons behind their divorce.
Their daughter, Phoebe, is adorable and it was sweet to see her parents bond growing again through their shared love for her.
The book has the perfect mix , it’s a story about healing, not just physically for Will but emotionally for both of them. While it’s a short read, it leaves a lasting impression. I can’t wait to read the next story in the series and see more of these interconnected characters.
