Not for me

Started off looking good. I liked the idea, but it went off the rails. The fmc was so up and down, it was ridiculous . I kept reading hoping it would get better. It didn't

dnf at like 10%

man I'm not one to write negative coz ya know, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything. But holy shit. This book made me want to weep it was that bad. The writing (and KU spacing) reminded me of wattpad authors circa 2013. You know....the type you read thru because even tho it was absolute crap it made your teen heart pitter patter.

Bossy Billionaire starts out happy. Meets Girl. Turns Grump

This is my first time reading Lily Cross. I have seen her name around before but when I had the chance to read this, I did. This story is not just your normal love/hate relationship to a Billionaire turned love story. This one gets dirty and grisly. Very scary. This book is definitely passionate and erotic but I am impressed with the quality of the storyline in this book.
The thing I find important in any book is the characters and these characters definitely make the book worthwhile reading:
Carrie – At the start, Carrie is very young(18) and acts it but almost five years later she is much more mature. She is all about saving money and getting Miles’ stuff straight. Until she gets the big art mosaic. She works long and hard on it.

Stern – Stern is always in charge, always commanding. After the wedding though where he doesn’t even show for the Best Man Speech, he became the world’s biggest Grump. He was at least a guy who laughed with his friend Miles. But after the wedding, he was Grumpy and angry at the world.

Less Major:
Miles – Miles is a quieter guy. He is Sterns head of Security for the whole corporation. Miles dealt in all types of security and he was the best. He happened to turn the head of on of the bratty Carson sisters, Belinda.

Belinda – Belinda is the Bridezilla at the start and later she is doing everything she can to play hardball with Miles in a Divorce because he wants children.

Gail – The person from Stern's company ( Belinda’s department) that Stern hired to befriend Carrie. The joy was they both got to spend his black card. The best part was when Gail met Miles.

The story starts at the wedding of Miles and Belinda. When Carrie goes to change, she is found by Stern who immediately falls for her. He takes her to his room, and makes passionate love to her thus taking her V-card. Carrie makes the ultimate mistake by getting up to make sure her brother covered her lie but it was her Mother her caught her and took her back to their hotel. Five years later, Carrie returns to America to get work and help her brother with his divorce. Stern sees her with her brother and sees that she is up for a job. He surprises her when he is the interviewer. Things went from being ready to walk out to erotic in a heartbeat. Then she is back to not wanting to deal with Stern. As all good Love/hate relationships go, they find their way quickly back to the erotic side of things. Stern even asks an employee, Gail, to befriend Carrie.
It was when Carrie asks to go home for a visit and get color ideas for the mosaic that Stern decides to go rather than any other security person.

This is where things get scary and it is dealing with some pretty serious topics from this point on too. I enjoyed it before Carrie and Stern came to Africa but it is Africa that changes them both in so many ways.
Will it bring them closer together or further apart? Well I can only say that this story is worth the read. Take the time to get to know the characters in this book. You will not be sorry.

I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with a secret baby which is a huge piece of the puzzle--our son, my secret ace and explicit romance that is sure to transport readers into a world that is wild and unforgettable.

I was really excited at the very start of this book but it quickly went away. The concept is great, just needs more of an actual story. Also, the editing is just honestly awful. I’m sorry to whoever did it if you read this. One example is a paragraph talking about a plane moving towards the hangar and a few paragraphs later the plane is just starting its descent. The conversations and main situation is not too realistic but if you are the kind of reader who can get past those little things then definitely give this a shot. It was good enough for me to keep reading with a lot of hope.

Engaging ‘second-chance’ romance. I loved the humour in this story, starting from the banter between Carrie (as a bridesmaid) and Stern (best man) as they await ‘bridezilla’s’ arrival at the beginning of the tale! It’s almost inevitable that the two hook up (when they should be at the reception) and it adds an interesting aspect to the narrative that Carrie conceals her identity (as sister of the groom, Stern’s best friend) when she surrenders her V-card to the handsome best man. Circumstances contrive to part them until five years later when the narrative resumes. The story is pacy and the reader is a willing & involved spectator to the progression of the romance of both the main, likeable, characters. I particularly liked the section of the story set in Carrie’s homeland of South Africa which adds as thriller facet to the story. There are some twists and turns to the plot with individuals who try to jeopardise the couples’ HEA; and enjoyable read all around.

Best Surprise Ever!

A great romance novel to read! Stern & Carrie meet at her brother’s wedding. An instant connection that over the years doesn’t wane. With a 5-yr. break, there’s a secret that Carrie has which keeps her from taking a step forward to having a HEA with Stern. Plenty of drama happening in the office, pressure from her parents for both her brother, Miles & Carrie to provide grandchildren for them and the truth is revealed when the misunderstandings between Carrie & Stern surfaces. Surprises & double the HEA’s too!

I liked the added touch of South Africa, their language, the beauty & dangers of this country. It adds more depth to understanding Carrie & Miles with their upbringing & background.

Carrie was 17 year old when she and her parents went to America to her brothers wedding.
At the church she saw her brother’s best man, she checked him all the time because he was so beautiful.
Instead of going with everyone for the photo shoots she went to change in her brother hotel room,while she was changing the same man came to the room she was only on her underwear because she was sewing her dress.

Simon after the church was supposed to go for photo shoots but because of the sister of the bride he skipped it so he went straight to the hotel where the reception was going to be held,his friend told him to bring the bottle of champagne from his room, there he found a beautiful angel .

This book is amazing
I really love it.
The story is absolutely incredible even the writing.

Wasn’t sure how I felt about this story at the start. The FMC was only 18 and lying to the MMC came very easily to her. Carrie and Stern meet at her brothers wedding, hit it off and wham, bam they have a ons, circumstances and the fact she lives in South Africa means they don’t see each other for another 5 yrs. They blame each other for the separation not realising that it wasn’t as simple as that. I really did like Stern, he was a good man who just fell in love at first sight. Carrie was a little harder to like as she wasn’t honest with him but redeemed herself. Although I wasn’t sure about the beginning of this story I really got into it, it was unpredictable, gripping, steamy and enjoyable.

From the beginning, Lily captured my attention when it came to Stern and Carrie being introduced at her brother's wedding. You could sense the chemistry, connection, and banter that these two had brewing between them. The storyline was well-written and really showed how there was no love lost with the time that they spent not in contact. I loved that Lily didn't make the story an unrealistic love romance, letting realistic things happen and showing a side of bitterness with Carrie thinking that she knew the truth of what happened that night.
Overall, this was a great read. Well-paced and written, kept me engaged with the plot twists and Stern is my new billionaire boyfriend. I can't wait to read more of Lily's stories in the future.

I was rooting for this couple to happen from the start. From the first time they spoke to each other, sparks were flying. Carrie is a South African artist and works part time at her parents guest house. Simon Sterns is a New York real estate mogul with building lobbies that need murals painted on the walls. Who does he select to paint the murals? It can't possibly be that innocent young bridesmaid from his best friends wedding!
I loved the characters in this book. They were complex but loveable at the same time. Lily Cross books get better every time.

He is her brother's best friend and when Carrie and Stern have an intimate connection it will change her life. Stern is blown away by Carrie and runs down to the do a toast but when he returns Carrie is gone and he can't find her. Five years later brings her back into his life and she is bitter towards him. When the truth comes out will these two resolve their issues and rekindle what was beginning to blossom between them.

Simon spent along time searching for her, of course not knowing he had the wrong name. He then became the grumpy boss. Carrie returns to visit her brother and Simon realized he was duped. Carrie and Simon meet at her brothers wedding and end up together but 5years go by ,but what happens when he finds out she lied about her identity? Carrie lies to stern about who she really is and causes Stern some serious issues. They are separated for five years. She returns to NY to help het brother get through his divorce. Carrie and Stern try to pick up where they left off, but Miles her brother is in the way.

Absolutely loved this book Carrie and Stern were made for each other. It did take a while for you to put two and two together to realize what was happening could not stand Belinda and had the feeling her and her sister were evil. Again another book without a bonus scene that was a disappointment 😔

If you are trying to figure out if you want to read this….do!!! Good read from the beginning to the end. The twist and plots keeping you wanting more. My one complaint, what happen to the Carson sisters? It would be nice to see if they got what they deserved.
