Deception at the Altar

Rate this book
Deception at the Altar is an enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience, term-of-the-will, billionaire romance from Emmy Grayson.

His sworn enemy…
and perfect bride

Gavriil. My childhood taught me love can’t offer the security my billions can. I poured my soul into the family empire for that reason. If my late father thinks he can take it all away by stipulating I marry or lose my inheritance, he underestimated me…

Juliette. I’ve spent my career as an investigative reporter taking down men corrupted by wealth, so Gavriil Drakos’s convenient proposal shocked me. I told myself I agreed only because he’s returning the beloved home his father stole from mine. Yet, at the altar, I surrender to Gavriil’s dangerously intoxicating kiss…

Emmy's interest in romance can be traced back to her love of Nancy Drew books, when she tried to solve the mysteries of her favorite detective while rereading the romantic chapters with Ned Nickerson. Fast-forward a few years when she discovered a worn copy of "A Rose in Winter" by Kathleen Woodiwiss on her mother's bookshelf, and she was hooked. Over 20 years later, Harlequin Presents made her dream come true by offering her a contract for her first book.

When Emmy isn't writing or reading, she's chasing around her baby boy, feeding her menagerie of fur babies or carving out a little time on her front porch with her firefighter hubby.

Review on Deception at the Altar by Emmy Grayson the premise of the book is about two families one the Drakos powerful and the GREYS who have fallen on hard times..
The hero Garvriil Drakos is to wed within the year or forfeit his inheritance of the vast business. The herione Juliette Grey hates the Drakos as they took away everything from her father. She Is an investigator reporter who exposed LUCIFER DRAKOS we are told that he was immoral evil man who not only abused and was heartless ruthless with endless mistresses and wives but was not a loving father. He was ruthless in business and cruel .
As you have guessed our protagonists are going to get together to form a MOC. She to gain back her beloved house and him to gain his rightful inheritance to the DRAKOS ENTERPRISE.
Two very strong characters who are physically attracted to each other. They were elements in this story that I really enjoyed. Both the characters strong but with vulnerabilities. I liked them both specially the feisty heroine. What I don’t like is she is not a virgin but has had several relationships in the past. The H needless to say well known for his endless supply of women. Sometimes just too much. Also not fond of first person narrative. Though, it is well written.
There is no OW OR OM! An enjoyable read- it’s part one of a trilogy as the two books deals with the two Half brothers. This is an honest and personal review and I thank Emmy and Netgallery for providing me a copy.

Deception at the Altar is the beginning of the Brides for Greek Brothers series, bringing us Juliette’s and Gavriil’s tumultuous romance.

Gavriil’s father, Lucifer Drakos, was aptly named for he is, indeed, the devil incarnate. A ruthless, cruel, abusive man in life, his evil reach is now extending beyond the grave, as he is still trying to control his sons (half-brothers) with his last will and testament, demanding that they each marry quickly… or they lose their inheritance. Gavriil has worked too hard, given up too much at the insistent demands of his father as he worked tirelessly at the family business, his legacy in a way, to allow his father to steal yet another thing from him… the company that he has given his blood, sweat, and (if he ever cried) tears for. Gavrill will determine to beat his father at his own game, and offers a marriage of convenience to a woman with her own axe to grind against the Drakos family.

Juliette has spent her career as an investigative reporter taking down corrupt, evil men like Lucifer Drakos—a man who once stole her beloved home from her father. When Gavriil offers a chance to have that home returned to her, with strings attached, she’s tempted for it’s not only a way to take back what was her family’s property, but, in a way, defeat a man she despised at his own game… that Gavriil intrigued her, even attracted her in a physical way was only icing on the cake of her revenge. She didn’t expect to like her husband, or to fall in love with the son of the devil. But Gavriil is nothing like his father… or so she hopes.

Both Juliette and Garviil are broken in different ways by circumstances beyond their control. Their undeniable attraction to each other will lead to seeing each other (and perhaps themselves) more clearly, to take the risk of falling in love with someone who was once thought to be the enemy, to take control of their lives out of the hands of evil, and deliver it to each other.

I enjoyed Deception at the Altar by Emmy Grayson. It is well-written, emotional, and sets up the background of the series nicely, as we’ll also meet Gavriil’s half-brothers, Rafe and Michail, briefly. If you enjoy a sensuous romance with, perhaps not enemies to lovers but two people taking revenge on a common enemy… and falling in love along the way, then you’d love Juliette and Gavriil.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

A romance book that I enjoyed after so long. Imo Enemies to Lovers, Contract Marriage, forced proximity tropes. First book I read that’s about a Greek man.

Two main characters, their pasts broken by the same doofus, find each other by sharing their fears and feelings. Also icl the dude looks so ugly on the cover 😭😭 im sorry.

Loved these quotes:
“Love doesn’t mean never getting hurt or being hurt by others”

“The more I recognise, the more I want to sink to my knees and scream up to the stars” (not the whole line but what the amount that resonates with me)

I enjoyed this book. I believe I won it in a giveaway and it was sighed by the author. The characters were so broken in such a way they fit beautifully together filling in the brokenness in the other. A lot of their issues boils down to communication just like irl. Good book. Good story. Will be on the lookout for more from this author.

I received this book from a Goodreads win, signed by the author herself! I enjoyed the characters and story line. It was a very easy read that left me smiling with the HEA we all want in the end.

Enjoyed the book. Although I found the First POV very iffy for harlequin. It's your standard HP.

I was provided the ARC by the author and publisher in exchange of my honest opinion

There’s so much growth for both of them in their relationship. It’s beautiful! Hero was insufferable but so damn sweet at times.
