I absolutely loved Book 2, War of the Land, but this latest installment didn't quite hit the mark for me.

The story feels incomplete. Although I enjoyed how everything tied up at the end; the ending itself left something to be desired.

I didn't like the memory loss trope ;u;

Dana does not disappoint! There is a reason that Dana Claire is one of my top favorite authors, and that reason is that she delivers everything that the reader needs and wants from a book!! Even if you don't think it's what you need at that point, by the time the book is finished you will understand what an exemplary author Dana is!

She quickly became an auto-buy author and all of her series are amazing! I encourage you to do something good for yourself and pick up this series and all of her other series. Bring them with you on vacation, curl up with them in your favorite chair during spring break, and have them ready for those long rainy weekends in April with your favorite drink, snack, and your newfound favorite author, Dana Claire!!

War of the Mind delivered! It's supposed to be the end of this series, but I hope it's not! I love Calli and Henrik and this book rings true that you might think you know what's best for you, but fate has other things in mind! If you love Greek mythology, gods and goddesses, magic, adventures, pirates, the high seas, strong women characters, hea, and reading through the night and not being able to put a book down, then this series is for you!

"War of the Mind" by Dana Claire is a captivating tale of love, sacrifice, and redemption that had me hooked from the very first page. Calli and Henrik's journey is an emotional rollercoaster, filled with heartache, passion, and the relentless pursuit of justice.

Claire's storytelling prowess shines through in this action-packed adventure, as she weaves together a gripping narrative that kept me on the edge of my seat. The depth of emotion conveyed by the characters is palpable, and I found myself shedding a few tears for the love that was lost and the sacrifices made in the name of redemption.

What truly sets this book apart is Claire's ability to create richly developed characters that leap off the page. Calli and Henrik are flawed yet compelling protagonists whose struggles and triumphs resonate deeply with readers. Their journey is not only one of physical peril but also one of self-discovery and growth.

I had the privilege of witnessing the evolution of this story from its early drafts to the polished masterpiece it has become. Claire's dedication to her craft is evident in every word, and her passion for storytelling shines through on every page.

"War of the Mind" is a testament to the power of love, forgiveness, and the indomitable human spirit. It is a story that will stay with me long after the final page, and I cannot recommend it highly enough to fans of action-packed fantasy and epic romance. Dana Claire has once again delivered a spellbinding tale that is sure to captivate readers from start to finish.

When demigod Calli learns that her parents have been murdered she gets obsessed with revenge. She rebuilds her parents' ship, recruits an all female crew and set out to hunt down the notorious pirate Captain Fredrick, their murderer and her beloved Henrik's father. To stop Henrik from following her she does the unthinkable: she erases herself from his memories.

The third book in the Olympian Wars series and it starts very intense with the information that Lou and Rylander, the main characters from the first book, are dead. We get to follow their daughter Calli in her pursuit for revenge, but also her soulmate Henrik, who, without knowing it, has lost parts of his memories. I first thought it would be strange and awkward to read about, but Claire solves it beautifully and I need not have worried!

We also get to know Medusa, who will come to play a big part in, above all, Henrik's life. Claire gives us a somewhat different picture of the goddess, and I love the gift she bestows on Henrik!

If you love Greek mythology, pirates and a love that conquers all this is a series for you! If you also enjoy reading about friendship, loyalty and sacrifices with characters that come alive on the page and doesn't always do as you wish, than you should definitely check this out! I really hope we get more of this series in the future because I'm not ready to leave this world!

The storytelling is an emotional rollercoaster packed full of love, heartache, passion, sacrifice, and redemption with a pursuit of justice. The characters and world were woven together beautifully, I felt as though I was in the book with them experiencing everything right alongside them.

Dana Claire does it again, thank you for allowing me to be an advanced reader! This was such a rollercoaster of emotions, but I loved every second of it. Calli starts by taking the memories of the man she loves to end up reuniting with him after a goddess has blessed him with protection and them with a beautiful little girl who is just as stubborn as she is. I nearly almost cried at one point. I love this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I loved the second book in this series but this one is absolutely chiefs kiss. I did hear this was the last book in the series and I really hope that’s wrong. If you are looking for a book that has Greek gods, Demi gods and pirates this has to be on your TBR. Calli and Henrik have known each other since childhood. When she loses her parents she has to leave Henrik and take his memories of her so he doesn’t revenge their death. Shortly after she leaves she learns that she will never be able to leave him behind. Henrik goes on a voyage of his own and meets Medusa who gives him a gift Sphinx who I absolutely love and could not get enough of. Calli and her little/big secret have to work with Henrik to rescue Medusa and her followers.

I read somewhere that this was the last book in the series and I’m crushed! With so many incredible characters, I don’t want this to end..

I didn’t know what to expect but I loved every second of this story. Grown up Calli and Henrik were adorable and deadly at the same time. The event that led to her leaving was so shocking, I had to sit there for a while and deal with it. It’s no surprise she did what she did.

Their reunion and the little surprises were heartwarming to watch. I loved how nothing changed even without his memories! I love when animals are anthropomorphized and extra points when they are sassy! I loved loved every interaction there!!

Since I knew what results to Medusa, I was anxious to get to that part since her relationship with Henrik was beautiful to witness. The way it was incorporated into the story was wholesome and the author’s writing style paid the respect it deserved. I loved the way the misunderstandings and decisions taken were resolved instead of being swept under the rug.

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC!

“And I love you, my little Sphinx.”
This book was perfect- from start to finish ❤️

Dana does an amazing job showing us Callie and Henrik chemistry even when they’re struggling with their relationship.

This is the 3rd installment of the series and I think it’s my favorite!! I cried, laughed out loud, and swooned over Henrik’s heart.

I read this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Dana for trusting me 😊

Book three of the Olympian War Series did not disappoint. It picks up several years after Savina's story. War of the Mind stars Cali and Henrik. Cali is the daughter of Lou and Rylander from book one. She is all grown up and in love with her best friend, Hendrik. Hendrik is the son of Lou’s enemy, but that does not keep Cali and Hendrik apart.

When Cali gets devastating news, she knows that she must seek revenge. Knowing Henrik will follow her to the ends of the earth, the only thing she knows to do is erase his memories to keep him safe. This is the only gift she was given as a demigod. Taking away Henrik’s memories ends up being something she will regret the rest of her life.

Five years later the two are tasked to go and save Medusa before her enemy can get to her. While Henrik doesn't remember Cali, she very much remembers him. Working so close together like the team they once were is bringing back memories. But will they be able to team up and save the day? Or will their mission put them in even more danger?

Review
Of all of the YA pirate series I have read, this is, by far, my favorite. It has all of the chemistry romance readers love without the smut. When it comes to romance, it feels like nothing is missing from these novels

I loved all of the characters and being able to revisit them in each of the books. It is always fun to come back to the characters that we fall in love with. Each character was unique in their own way and added something extra to the story.

The only reason this was a four star was because I found myself getting frustrated with the pacing at the beginning. This is a must read series if you love romantasy novels. Although it is young adult, I felt right at home when reading and will definitely revisit these again one day.

Thank you Dana Claire for sending me an ARC!

I was so excited to be able to continue reading through this world! War of the Mind pulled at all of my emotions from the first chapter. I am also a Medusa stan so this really filled my cup.

Claire’s writing is lovely and I had to constantly remind myself that this is a YA, closed-door romance. I left this book and WOTL wanting more from the characters and the plot but for YA it is great.

Callie and Henrik age so beautifully in this book. Callie takes on a lot of her mother’s traits and her story follows a bit of her parents’. iykyk. Henrik, blessed, blessed (not quite a baby) Henrik. I was so mad for him the entire book. He just could not win with relationships (familial or friendly). Conleth and Savina really stepped into the guardian role for him and I may have shed some tears at their interactions. Conleth will forever be that guy for me <3 The ending did leave me a bit confused and was quite rushed but we got there in the end!

In this book there are: snuggly pet snakes, pirates meet Greek gods and an HEA

Thank you to Dana and her team for providing an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. #WaroftheMind

'War of the Mind' is the third installment of the Olympian Wars series, which can be read as a standalone, but would contain spoilers of the previous books, so I would recommend reading them in publishing order!

In this book we can follow the story of Calli (demigod) and Henrik (human), who already have a great love story going on right at the start of the book. However, Calli decided to step on the path of revenge and to save Henrik, she erased his memories of them. But their destinies are woven together, after a couple of years, they must work together again, this time to save humanity!

As in the previous books, we get gods, demigods, pirates, action scenes and of course, a romance to conquer all! It was very entertaining, fast paced, and I liked it a lot! :)

What a way to wrap up an amazing trilogy.

Chapter one, right off the rip had to tear my heart out. I was heartbroken to learn of what happened.

I understood Callie’s sorrow but she is looking at this one sided and being stubborn, selfish and I felt as if she made the wrong decision. When Savina gave Callie a tongue lashing I was cheering. She was saying everything and more of what I felt!

Though, like the great writer Dana is, there is a reason for everything and in the end, I was smiling so big and felt whole.

I absolutely loved Sphinx. She kind of stole the show for me. I also loved how all the past characters made an appearance. It was great way to bring everything and everyone together and have a fulfilling ending.

This is the third in this series - and Dana Claire continues the series with the same high-paced action and emotions that were present in the first two books. This has become one of my favourite series in 2024 and I am wondering when it will be all over booktok as a series filled with action, emotion, love, betrayal and overall the best experience ever!

My heart hurt so bad for Callie and Henrik….and in this book their journey is one filled with passion, heartbreak, betrayal, and sacrifice. Absolutely a journey that will rip your heart out but then piece it back together.

Claire has worked her way into one of my favourite authors.

Okay... So let me just say that this book was very well put. With the entire Pirate setting and Greek mythology flavour the book was able to sizzle out an amazing dish of plot. Calli, the demigod has the ability to erase memories and she does so with her lover, Henrik without his consent in the first place. She goes about wiping his love for her, and her entire existence from his mind, body and soul. Alas, there's no way to restore his memories back. Later, as fate had it, they met again but in entirely different circumstances. Calli is now, five years later the pirate of the Ship " The Freedom" and both of them are put together on a mission to save Henrik's closest companion, the one and only, Medusa. The entire story is well written, though some settings and the plot twist should have been laid more discreetly, the book was overall a 8.5/10 for me.

Dana Claire has becomes one of my favorite authors to this date. Her books are just so good, really well developed and full of amazing stories. War of the mind is the third book in the Olympian Wars series by Dana Claire. It is full of sacrifices, redemption, love, heartache, etc. The story as always is amazing and so well done, the pacing is perfect and the characters just bring the story together really well. Honestly this was the perfect way to end this amazing trilogy and I am exited to continue reading what Dana Claire writes next.

I was super excited for this book, and after reading book two I just knew that Calli and Henrik needed their own story, and this was one that read like the swoon worthy romance they both deserved! I absolutely loved watching their romance from the past, to the present and with that epilogue their future!

The characters are so well developed, and their personalities shine through so well, I love the fact that Dana had aged them in the book so they felt a lot more realistic, and it fed into the star-crossed lovers/soulmate trope even more, as they just could not imagine life without one another! It was brilliant to read more about them both. Although a couple of trivial things, I would absolutely adore a family tree print, as I got slightly confused in the beginning remembering and tracing who was related to who, and I didn’t like just how much Calli’s need for revenge consumed her, but it was there for major plot development, and it definitely worked a treat as this book really did produce some real tear-jerker moments (the first chapter, and the epilogue I am looking at you!)

This book was just so fast paced, and action packed, with the right amount of sass from the characters, especially Sadie, she was a brilliant new introduction. Plus, Etta and Sphinx what adorable new characters that just shone of the page, I really loved all their interactions! I found the plot very unique, with Medusa not being displayed as a villain for once which was a refreshing change, and I like what the author did with her and Henrik’s relationship, that was a lovely touch, and I like how this came full circle for Henrik. Plus, those dastardly pirates who have been nothing but trouble for the entire series, I am glad there was some karma that came around for them!

This is a series I completely love; all three books are fantastic and have been five star reads for me, they can all be read as standalones, but I would recommend reading the entire trilogy just because its great!

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️.75

Disclaimer: I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks, BookSirens.

Reading Order: This is the third in an interconnected standalone series. You could read these out of orders, but you will have some spoilers for the first and not have the full background of prior characters who make cameos.

General Thoughts: I liked the writing and the overall story. The author does a great job creating witty banter and fun adventurous pirate stories. If you like adventure romance, I think you'll like it. It's original, fun, and creative. I like how the author has reimagined the Greek gods/goddesses, and I love the heavy pirate themes being interconnected in the books.

And this book is also a tough one for me. I have really enjoyed this series, and I also really enjoyed these characters in past books. And I also like much of the book. And yet, I really disliked the main plot point that is revealed in the synopsis. I felt like it was such a deeply un-okay act and I had a hard time getting past it. I also didn't like what the author did with some of the characters in past books. That made this one a hard one for me to know how to rate in many ways. I guess I needed more revolving the main point. The ending also confused me a bit.

But all in all, still a really enjoyable book and series.

Spice Meter: 💞 This series has been a sweet YA romance with very tame hints of spice that was suitable for all ages. However, this one did flirt a bit more on the very tame side of new adult.

Romantic Tropes
-Greek mythology
-Pirates
-gods/demi-gods
-Young adult/new adult
-dual POV

Favorite quote: "How did you explain love so deep it flowed through your veins and seeped into your soul, your very essence? I couldn't."

Review:
Dana claire never disappoints when it comes to her books, whenever she publishes a new book just know I'll be reading it as soon as possible. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and I refused to put down for 3 full hours until I was done with it, and now I wish I had a time machine or could lose my memories so I could read it again for the first time just to relive every part of it.
If you like the strangers to friends to lovers to strangers to acquaintances to lovers again trope with some memory loss and lots of other hidden tropes then this book is for you.
This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
If you like romance, pirates, greek mythology then this book is the one you should read next.

She has done it again with such a great book to end a wonderful trilogy. This had me from start to finish. Cal is such a hard headed, strong and stubborn woman and she doesn't always think things through until it is too late. Even if it means costing her a happy life with the man her soul is intertwined with. Henrik is a boy who such sweet and caring man that comes from a rough past in which he is the son of an awful pirate and wants nothing to do with the choices he has made and wants a different path.

These two young souls first meet when they are young and what started as a great friendship blossomed into something deep, true and pure. All of that happiness gets taken from both of them when it is learned that Cal's parents and brother where killed by Henrik's father. She would never blame him for what his father does and to protect his soul, afterlife she leaves creates an all female crew to get her revenge on the pirate who killed her family. Oh yeah did I mention that Cal is also a Demi-God and took away Henrik's memories of their love so he would not follow her? And that they have a daughter together that he has no idea is his?

Fate seems to let this happen until 5 years later when it is requested that Cal comes home and helps the King (her uncle) bring Medusa to the castle for protection. Little does Cal know that in her time gone Henrik has made a unique friendship with Medusa as he is the only man who can see her without turning to stone. They become great friends and help each other overcome their loneliness. However in their plan to rescue her things go horribly wrong in every sense and they end up getting to her too late. To make matters worse when they go back to the ship they are kidnapped by his father and are blackmailed to help him. The only thing that gets them to submit and do what he asks is their safe return of their daughter. Will the two save their daughter and the kingdom???? Will he forgive her and try to start anew?

Calli is the daughter of Rylander and Captain Lou of the pirate ship The Freedom and the granddaughter of Zeus.

Henrik is the son of the infamous Captain Fredrick of the pirate ship The Black Hollow.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Although this book has its own HEA this series is better enjoyed if you read them in order as the characters are recurring and it gives you further background into the story and characters of this series.

The warring pirates Captain Niles and Captain Fredrick were both after the head of Medusa for the massive power over humankind. But Calli is after vengeance and Captain Fredrick's head is the one she envisions. With her gift of removing memories, she disappears into the night with one thing on her mind.

This book is action-packed from start to finish and highly emotional. I cried through most of this book. I can't really say much more because it would be full of spoilers that you truly have to read to get the full impact.

I loved this series and this book was an amazing finale! Highly recommend! Can't wait to see what Dana Claire comes up with next!

Dana Claire is a phenomenal writer. This is not my first book by her and I can confidently say that she has truly outdone herself this time. The story was immersive and I was gasping, oooing and aaahing, wanting to throw my book across the room… I felt everything. The world building that started in the previous books continued in the same vein. This can be read as a standalone, but why wouldn't you read the others? I highly recommend this book and the others in the series. The world Claire has built is crafted with care. The characters were excellent! Henrik and Calli will reach into your heart and not let go.

War of the Mind is the third book in the Olympian Wars series. This can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the previous books because they're awesome.

What an intense, wild ride. I mean, I thought I was hooked on the first two, but this one hit me in the feels. This is Calli, daughter of Lou and Rylander, and Henrik's story. This story is as perfect as the previous ones. It's full of action, mythology, heartbreak, justice, love, and redemption. Not only that, the worldbuilding and character development is fantastic! I hope there will be more in the future. Definitely recommend.

Cliffhanger? ❌️

Do I recommend it? ✅️

Tropes: romantic fantasy, second chance, amnesia, Greek mythology, action/adventure, pirates/demigods, forced proximity, YA fantasy

Immense grief causes demigod Calli to do the unthinkable and use her powers to erase herself from the memories of her beloved Henrik. Calli rebuilds herself and her crew, only to be reunited with Henrick by order of the crown to stop Perseus and his accomplices before it’s too late. As remnants of their passion haunt their voyage, will their wounded hearts find their way back to each other, or will past choices stand in their way?

This series has been truly amazing! If action and adventure get your reader-loving heart pumping, then this book & the previous books are for you. There is nothing missing. I was addicted to every page. Adding to it was the raw emotion and a rollercoaster to keep you reading nonstop. I can see I'll be returning to these books again. Dana Claire is incredibly talented and one of my favorite authors. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

I really enjoyed this book! This was my first book from Dana Claire, and it’s the 3rd in the series but I was able to easily understand the characters and story! It was a fun Greek mythology story with a pirate twist! I loved the MMC and FMC. There was so much emotion without being overwhelming.
I do feel like some of the content was a little much for YA. I think some of the desire talk would be to detailed for younger readers. I think one line was “the desire pooled between my legs” or something to that effect. Besides that it was a wonderful read that I highly recommend. I give that warning for parenting is younger readers.

Wow. This was such an addicting read. I loved the characters, they felt real and flawed to me. Which made for some good character growth during the story. The magic and everything was just amazing. Surprising twists and some humor. And if you read the other books in this story you'll see some familiar characters (which I loved). You do not have to read the other books to read this one, but I highly recommend that you do!

I was blessed with an arc of this book for an honest review.

I never thought anyone would be Lou and Rylander’s story for me but Calli and Henrick really might be challenging them for favorite book in this series.

I loved the passage of time in this book showing how they changed from the young kids we got to know in the second book in the series to adults.

I also loved Medusa in this story and her relationship with Henrick. It was such a unique take on her and was honestly one of my favorites to date.

Everything Dana Claire writes makes me never want to leave the world and she will forever be an auto read author for me
