At eight, he gave me roses. At fifteen, he gave me butterflies, and at seventeen, he gave me sanctuary.
I wasn't a damsel in distress. He wasn't Prince Charming waiting to whisk me off my feet. We didn't meet by chance. He's been part of my life for years, and for most of that time, I've been under his spell.
Everett Callahan isn't just the most attractive man I've ever laid eyes on: stoic, tall, dark, and handsome, the stuff fantasies are made of. He's more than that. Beyond his looks, he's loyal to the core and wears virtues like duty, honor, and respect as armor. He's the kind of guy you'd be proud to bring home to meet your dad.
If he wasn't also your dad's best friend.
I wasn't just charmed. I was completely and utterly smitten, and he wasn't interested.
That's why I put aside childish things, like my crush on an off-limits man who could never be mine.
Until he fell into my tent on my twenty-first birthday, and I saw a man instead of the untouchable God, I'd made him out to be.
Men are flawed, even Everett Callahan, and now that I know he's not immune to weakness, I plan to be a hellion ready to exploit it.
Publishers Note: This is a forbidden, slow-burn, age-gap romance with a happy ever after. Author's Note: This book is meant for readers 18 years and older.
L.A. Ferro has had a love for storytelling her entire life. For as long as she can remember she put herself to sleep plotting stories in her head. That thirst for a good tale led her to books where she became an avid reader.
The unapologetically dramatic characters, steamy scenes, and happily ever afters found inside the pages of romance novels irrevocably transformed her. The world of romance ran away with her heart, and she knew her passion for love would be her craft.
When she’s not trailing after one of her three crazy kids, she loves to construct messy ‘happily ever afters’ that take her readers on a journey full of angst, lust, and obsession with page-turning enchantment.
Chasing her literary dreams, she hopes to captivate her readers with the stories that have lived rent-free in her mind for years. As an avid reader, dominant alpha males and feisty heroines have always stolen her heart and she is optimistic her books will bring the same amount of heart and heat that inspired her.
Way. Too. Wordy. Some paragraphs were a page and a half long 😒. Super redundant the push went on way too long....
Oh, and don't get me started on how crazy all the drama was with the Lauren/Parker/Stormy/Evan/Moira/Kelce/Damon/Cameron (no. Seriously. That many people involved in the mystery that i solved at 50% ) sh*t show. Good grief. I know i went cross-eyed several times. I think my husband thought I was trying to solve an intricate math problem in my head half the time I was reading. It was too much to follow. Yeah. No. Too much. I stopped at about 90% bc I just couldn't anymore.
**Also, I personally don't consider this "safe." When he realizes he has feelings for her, he runs away to Boston for months to try and..... you guessed it.... fck her out of his system. I'm not sure why this is an actual thing, but it's super gross.**
Very hard to follow, jumps around way too much. In the middle of one scene, new chapter starts and it’s days or weeks or months later even without completing the scene you were in.
I started reading this story on the heels of yet another re-listen to one of my favorite series by one of my favorite authors. There was a second there where I almost stopped myself from starting right then because I was on a high (lol) and those were some huge shoes to fill, but I’ve been drawn to this story since the moment I set eyes on the cover, so I threw caution to the wind and went for it right then and there.
I finished this story late last night and woke up this morning to thoughts of it all. I am staggered and more than a little awed by what my mind just consumed in Salt. I do not actually know where to begin or even in what order I want to tell the world about what I experienced. Not a single moment of this story was trite or even cliché. It was genuine and organic and realistic. It took the term taboo and redefined it. The layers of the story had layers of their own and unmeasurable depth. There’s a subplot that surrounds and connect to the main plot that is so thoroughly and meticulously unfolded that you don’t even see it coming until it’s right there, in your face, and your level of awestruck is just catapulted into some unknown space in your mind.
I am irrevocably shook by what I just read!! It took me a few minutes to be in the story but once that happened, I felt every single circumstance and plot-twist as if I was inside the story as a secondary character. This woman’s word wizardry is something I’ve only experienced from a handful of authors and again, I am shook! Whatever you may think this story is about, I can assure you it is much more. If you’re a reader that normally stays away from “taboo” reads because of this or that, I implore you to rid your mind of everything you think taboo means and just read this story.
This story is a lot bigger than its parts. It’s more than a romance journey. It’s a story of discovery. It’s a story of growth and acceptance. It’s a story of life’s unpredictability and tangled web it weaves. It’s a story of "seven degrees of separation" but really a whole lot less degrees. It’s a story of society’s pressures and views and how impactful they may or may not be on our actions and reactions. It’s a story of breaking all the "rules" and choosing love. Cameron & Everett are going to steal your heart and imbed themselves in your soul. Their story is going to surprise you in the best possible way.
There’s a song, Free Your Mind, by En Vogue from the early 90s that has a chorus that fits Cameron & Everett like a glove. "Free your mind" is a concept that I felt through most of the narrative of Salt. Freeing my mind to the possibility of this story is what ensnared and engrossed me to every word. Cameron & Everett "freeing" themselves of society’s what should(s) is what ultimately allowed for the freedom of their love. *sigh* I’ve said too much already LOL I’m stopping now before I give the whole thing away! Just read the book.
I cannot thank Hambright PR enough for not just providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC, but also making me aware of this author and her wizardry. THANK YOU!
I was looking for an age-gap and the first half was very promising. The basic dad’s best friend trope, lots of angst, pining and teasing. He finally breaks around the 50% mark, but it was honestly so dissatisfying. The situation leading up to it didn’t feel climatic at all, there wasn’t an argument or jealousy scene that preluded it. The scene wasn’t nearly long or deep enough (haha) to justify 100+ pages of slow-burn. Half of this story was unnecessary. It’s just useless words to fill pages.
I also feel that their characters really started to fall off at this point and the change in their relationship didn’t feel satisfying or genuine at all considering how hard he was fighting it. I get that they were trying to keep it on the DL for a bit but they were both avoiding it and treating the change like it was just another day of staring longing at each other.
There’s a lot of suspense and secrecy in the overarching story that really gives mafia vibes and I was waiting for that shoe to finally drop… turns out, it’s just small town garbage. It’s incestual AF— all the “arranged marriage”, “surprise young pregnancies” everyone cheated with their friend’s spouse and then married them and blah blah blah. It’s fucking gross. Even if it had been mafia, it’s not a good enough reason to build up this much drama. Everyone is making mountains out of molehills which is disappointing.
Do I have daddy issues? The taboo forbidden age gap in this was HOTTTTT 🤭
"You are the forever I don't deserve, the reason I lose sleep, and the reason my heart beats. Your light defeats my darkness, and I'll spend every day fixing what I've broken if you'll let me. You are my reason, Cameron Salt."
Are ya frickin kidding me Ev? The swoooon I was swoooning in this! The absolute angst was off the charts. I was ON EDGE just WAITING for them to get together. Just when I thought it would happen, BAM.. some other insane shit comes along. The tension was building and building throughout the story.
In between the romance was a whole ass suspense novel. I had NO IDEA what the hell was happening. I needed a detective board with the strings and thumbtacks to piece everything together because ho-ho-holy shit was the suspense out of this world. EVERYONE had secrets, everyone told lies. And everything came together so fucking beautifully.
The love Cameron gave off was so tangible I could feel it. Soul crushing love just oozed out of her. I LOVED her character. She was wise beyond her years and incredibly smart and determined.
I am absolutely feral for LA’s words so I will be IMPATIENTLY waiting for what’s to come. thanks Hambright PR & LA Ferro for the ARC!
This book had potential, but it was buried under WAY too many characters and an overcomplicated plot.
Everett and Cameron’s relationship was the best part. I love an age-gap romance, and the spice was solid. 🌶️🌶️🌶️ But the constant push and pull between them dragged on forever, and the writing was sooo wordy. Some paragraphs felt like a full-page monologue, and the pacing was all over the place.
The mystery subplot? Predictable. Too many side characters with too much drama, and I honestly lost track of who was who. The ending felt rushed.
If this book had focused just on Everett and Cameron, I probably would’ve loved it. But with all the extra noise, it just didn’t work for me.
400 page snooze fest. It was just back and forth with a bunch of rambling unnecessary details. There is so much manipulation and miscommunication. No one knew anything yet, and everyone speculated about everything. Hell, most of the people didn't know who their parents, siblings, aunts, or cousins were
"I catch my breath and open my eyes to my new reality: obsession. My obsession is dangerous. My obsession is her.
Y'all, the tension and angst in this book was through the dang roof! Everett is Cameron's protector and has been since her father died years ago. But when she turns 21, things begin to change in the way he sees her. For her, it's always been him and she's never seen him as a father figure but as more.
Recommend if You Like: - Age gap (he's 25 years older!) -Hella angst - Best friend's daughter - Small town - He's kinda sorta a baseball coach
There was an added layer of secrets and suspense which really added to the story and kept me guessing.
Although it can be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading Fade Into You first as it is the story of two of the secondary characters and a lot of the plot overlaps.
“You are the forever I don’t deserve, the reason I lose sleep, and the reason my heart beats”.
I usually avoid age-gap tropes, but I had to give Salt a chance. I adored L.A. Ferro’s previous book, Rewriting Grey, and she did not disappoint with Salt!
L.A. knows how to hook the reader. She is an exceptional storyteller. The tension, angst, and chemistry were perfect. We just had to go along for the ride with Everett and Cameron because their love was so obvious. It was wonderful when they couldn’t fight it any longer. L.A. also added a mix of mystery and twists. That’s what made me want to stay up late and read more.
What to expect: 🧏🏼♀️Best Friend’s Daughter 🫦Age Gap 😉Secret Romance 🛡️Protector ❤️🔥Angsty 🔥Forbidden
Thank you to author L.A. Ferro and Hambright PR for the advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.
I cannot even begin to tell you how perfectly written this romantic suspense is! LA Ferro is truly a mastermind when it comes to her story telling and the beautiful way that she puts her words to page and completely draws readers in.
And that’s what she has done with this riveting read. She has taken an age gap romance and turned it into a book that pulls you in from page one. It’s truly a work of art how she brings the angst and suspense into the storyline and although it’s a dads best friend trope, it’s done in such a compelling way that will have you intrigued and craving page after page. There is NO cringe at all and that makes her an even more phenomenal author in my eyes.
There are several plot twists that will have your eyes bugging out in shock- which I LOVED & ate up!! I did have one twist figured out, though the others I was SHOOK & all in a great way. That’s what makes her so special. She keeps your mind on at all times, thinking and trying to figure out where she is headed… but she always wins in the end! And that’s why I literally CRAVE her books.
The pacing of the plot twists came at the perfect time in the storyline. Again- LA is amazing!! She can do no wrong with her stories!
Ev & Cam are truly 2 beautiful souls who are lost, grieving and have walls built up because of their past experiences in life, but together they can take the world on- if they can ever get in the same page, at the same time.
I don’t want to share any spoilers but please run and grab this book!! You will be very highly satisfied with your reading journey with LA Ferro.

“The world gets to see the mask. I get to see the soul behind it and what a beautiful soul it is.”
Salt was a hot, forbidden age gap. Cameron lost her father when she was a teenager and ended up living with her father's best friend, Everett. Cameron and Everett had that special kind of forbidden love. Living under the same roof, fighting off their feelings for each other while it became hard for the both of them. Over the years, it became impossible for both of them to just ignore their feelings for one another. Everett and Cameron story had some many twists and turns and went through a lot together. Cameron was a wonderful FMC, I love how overprotective and caring Everett was towards Cameron. This was a wonderful, slow burn, spicy romance. I'm looking forward to reading more books by L.A. Ferro!
This was my first age gap romance with the gap was over 20 years, and I freaking loved it. Everett and Cameron are 100% soulmates in my mind.
Cameron has been in love with her father’s best friend, Everett, for a long time. When her father dies, it was his wish that Everett take care of her. She’s been living with him since she was 17. Now she’s 21 and she loves him more than ever.
Everett promised to take care of Cameron. Unfortunately, his heart is blurring the line between keeping her safe, and wanting a different kind of relationship with her.
The push and pull between Everett and Cameron was so good! This man fought his feelings so hard because of secrets he’s been keeping. When he finally gives in, the spice in this book freaking EXPLODED. Everett is very much an alpha personality outside and INSIDE the bedroom. I loved that Cameron pushed his buttons trying to get him to admit his feelings. I would consider this a medium burn, with the spice not hitting until after the 50% mark.
There are a ton of side characters and backgrounds to keep track of in this book. I would highly recommend reading 𝐋.𝐀. 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨’𝐬 other books, 𝐃𝐢𝐠 & 𝐅𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮, because characters from those books are either mentioned, or present in 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭.
If you love a forbidden age gap romance with a TON of fiery tension, go add 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐋.𝐀. 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨, to your TBR today!
(3.8 Stars) Cameron Salt should not fall for Everett Callahan. He is not only older but also her father’s best friend. She knows it’s wrong to want him but the connection is undeniable. Everett offered Cameron a place to live when her father passed but he didn’t realize the little girl he helped would tempt him as she became a woman. This is a slow building story of the forbidden fruit and fighting what you really want vs what’s right. Interwoven about 20% begins a mystery that starts to unfold within the characters and their secrets that are revealed. This was on the slower paced side for me but the story as a whole was enjoyable and I liked when you got deeper into the mystery including a big twist. Told in first person and dual POV
This was recommended in a FB group which can be hit or miss sometimes. Unfortunately this was a miss for me.

Genre/Trope: Taboo- Age Gap Dads BF Secret Dating Baseball Slow Burn
Main Characters: Everett - Lawyer, former baseball player Cameron - Student, fashion design
Side Characters: Damon & Amelia - Cameron’s deceased parents Moira - Everett’s ex-wife Connor - Everett’s son Makenzie - Connor’s wife and BF to Cameron Parker - SS on team, fake dated Cameron Lauren - Stormy’s “Aunt” Stormy - Cameron’s friend
There are a ton more characters that are mentioned but it’s too many to share and would spoil the book
Summary The actual book summary gives you insight to what I think is one of two story lines in this book. The first being the taboo relationship between Everett and Cameron. Then this whole storyline dealing with a mystery about the past involving Damon, Lauren, and Moira.
Why ⭐️⭐️ We were kind of thrown into this book and too many things didn’t make sense, almost like there was a book prior to this I should have read. I even checked to see if I missed something. While this one wasn’t connected to any other books on Amazon, there were 2 books connected to each other with the same series name, Summer Nights. One of which looks like Connor and Makenzie’s story. Not sure why they aren’t all connected if reading those will help understand this book more.
Because of that there were there were too many random pieces of the story with no context, explanation, or closure. There were also a ton of characters that were mentioned and how they were intertwined that I had to start a list on my phone to keep it straight. That doesn’t make reading enjoyable for me personally.
The “conclusion” which was rushed and explained in only a few pages still left so many things unanswered. Not to mention it happened during a gala, which I felt like was a crucial part of the Everett and Cameron storyline.
I ended up giving this book 2 stars because of the confusing plots, missing pieces, and the fact you had to sign up for her email list to read the ending which she wrote in a separate epilogue.
Why 🌶️🌶️🌶️ I loved the taboo romance piece and how their relationship developed over the course of the book. I wish the book had actually just been that. It was a slow burn spice with nothing happening until about 50% in, but the author made it worth it with scenes like Cameron’s birthday and Everett’s office 🥵. On a side note, I had to laugh when I realized the author must live close to me. The book kept referring to the small town of Waterloo which I thought was just a coincidence until it also mentioned Millstadt, another town close by. Now I’m trying to figure out if our paths have crossed.
Favorite Quotes You can't build your empire on the things you're going to do. It's the things you've done that solidify your reputation.
"The dream was put in your heart, Cameron. You're the only one who can nourish, cultivate, and see it through. Dreaming is the easy part. It takes courage to believe in it and bring it to life…”
"I can't believe you just did that," she says, attempting to hold back a shy smile. I quickly peck her lips. "Believe it. I used to dream about you being mine. Now you are." I start back down the stairs. "My dream girl wears my name." I throw her a wink as my heart races faster than my feet back to the dugout.
"You ready to take Daddy's cock like a good girl?"
I love a good age gap, taboo romance and oh my lanta, this one was done so well, it really delivered. I could not stop turning the pages! There were several plot twists involved blending both elements of romance, mystery and suspense. There were lots of secrets and lies from some of the characters and I couldn’t wait to figure out where the story was headed wanting to know when and how the truth would be revealed. This is one of those books you want to binge quickly to find out all the tea. 🫖 L.A. Ferro is a new to me author and after reading this one, I’m ready to devour everything else she’s written.
🧡 Our FMC Cameron is 22 and wise beyond her years. She is smart and determined. She knows exactly what she wants out of life, Everett being one of those things. Cameron has known Everett her entire life, he was her dad’s best friend. She lost her parents at 17 and went to live with Everett. She’s been crushing on him since she’s been in his care.
🧡 Everett is a divorced single father, a lawyer and now coaching a semi-pro baseball team while Cam is working to design all the sports apparel for the baseball team. He has secretly lusted after Cameron but he refuses to cross that line as it is his best friend’s daughter. Not only is she living under his roof but now she’s working along side him making it hard to deny his feelings.
The push and pull had me feral waiting for them both to have that “eff it” moment, the slow burn was totally worth it though because when Cam and Ev finally crossed that invisible line, it was spicy, swoony and so darn sexy. 🫠
I hate to write a bad review for any author because I can't imagine how difficult it is but this was pretty bad. It was probably the most confusing book I've ever read. There were so many characters thrown in randomly with no backstory or how they were even connected. I kept going back to see if I missed something, but I didn't. Timeline jumps with little to no explanation. Then its like the author realized they messed up and would try to add a random one sentence to explain it later which just made it worse. I think they threw in 15 different "twists" to try to make it exciting but none made any sense and all it did was confuse me more as to what the actual plot was. I even went back to see if I missed another book and this was a sequel that's how confused I was. I did like the age gap aspect as well as the romance and I like the h. From other reviews I've seen since I've finished this it looks like the author does this with other books as well so I probably would not try this author again.
Forget about being the lyrical gangsta'. There's a new gangsta' in town and it's the literary gangsta': let's bow to LA Ferro.
Ugh, LA literally just about plows me over every time with her words. How does she come up with some of these sentences and one liners? Her wordsmithing is just next level! ... Wait, wait, let me back up before I get too far ahead of myself and totally fangirl out and stroke out.
So this is the second LA Ferro book that I've read and "Rewriting Grey" just about literally blew my socks off. I was so blown away by LA's writing style, her approach to the characters and story, and I was just like "yes! I love this author and I am. here. for. all. of. it. give. me. more. NOW!" and so to say I was just about rabid for this book would be an understatement.
"Salt" is an age gap and it has allllll of LA's special ingredients in it. Her literary gangsta'ness is soooo all over this. The way she has written Cameron and Everett's story is so typical of LA Ferro in that there is no one dimension at play. The layers upon layers of story and depth that she applies has us literally on the edge of our seats, gasping at every unveiling of a plot twist and next level move. Sure, sure, Everett is older than Cameron - by quite a bit - and he was her father's best friend. Some might think "ick" when they see that, but let me assure you that there is absolutely ZERO ick factor here. It is actually such a beautiful story about love and loyalty, and battling your own inner demons. It is just... beautiful. It is reminiscent of how each of us battles our own inner thoughts and feelings and how societal pressures along with loyalties and the "what we should do" impacts us, our actions, and decisions. But at the end of the day, we need to follow our hearts - or so we hope. Here not only are Everett and Cameron dealing with their feelings and all of the above mentioned but there are also other factors at play in their complicated stories, and with each chapter LA unveils another crumb for us and were gobble up every little morsel that she leaves us, so desperate to flip the page to unveil more. And that is actually my favorite thing about LA's writing, how she captures suspense on a page! That is a true craft and skill, and it is soooo hard to do for an author. But LA is masterful with not just her wordsmithing but with her approach and execution of the surprise, a plot twist, and the buildup of suspense. Her books should actually come with audio of suspenseful music at certain points because... because they just should. Although, her writing is so forking vivid that you almost hear the music in your head anyway. And actually, that is my second favorite thing about her writing: how descriptive and vivid it is. This woman doesn't leave one detail unsaid and I love it so hard! Her detail-oriented writing approach makes me so much more engaged with the story, it makes me almost feel like I can touch what she's describing, smell and taste it as well as see it.
Speaking of smelling and tasting, may I just tell you one little detail: the intimate smexy scenes in this book? Like, O-M-G. If I knew how to insert chili peppers here, I'd fill this whole dayum review with them! Those scenes might just be some of the spiciest scenes I've read all summer long. Phewww. Hand me the ice water and cigarettes because, momma needs a breather after that!
The literary gangsta' has struck gold again with Everett and Cameron. I just absolutely cannot describe anything further with the storyline because I would hate to even spoil one surprise or plot twist for any reader - because LA Ferro's books need to be EXPERIENCED to the nth degree. You just find yourself living in her world and it feels like an honor and a privilege. Needless to say, when it ends you find yourself in a bit of a depressive state, desperate for some more of her phenomenal wordsmithing... hence why after reading "Rewriting Grey" some months ago I was so desperate for this next book. LA might just be like potato chips: you can't just have one.
Everett and Cameron get five hands-down stars for "Salt". I loved every part of this story with every plot twist and surprise unveiling. One million stars for LA and her literary gangsta'ness and wordsmithing. Must read!
This story follows Everett Callahan and Cameron Salt. Everett was Cameron’s dad’s best friend and when her parents died when she was 17, she moved in with Everett and his family after he swore to her father he would take care of her. Cameron had a long standing crush on Everett and after she turned 21 and Everett was now divorced, things started to change.
This was a slow burn but it was worth the wait. Cameron and Everett’s love was forbidden but so special. This story was so captivating with the twists and turns I did not see coming.
If you’re into forbidden, age gap, dad’s best friend, suspenseful books, then this story is for you!
This was my first LA Ferro book and her story telling and spice were so good! Thank you to LA and Hambright PR for the early review copy!
Cameron and Everett have known each other for the majority of Cameron’s life. And when her parents both pass away five years ago, Everett has acted as a pseudo guardian ever since.
But things have started to change for both of them since she turned 21. They look at each other in a different light and that is causing a strain between them. They both want each other, but Everett is struggling with the age difference and forbiddenness of it all.
The progression of their relationship is a slowwww burn and L.A. Ferro made me salivating for the time when they were finally going to drop their walls and finally give into temptation.
The feelings and chemistry between these two is absolutely undeniable. And their intimate times were spicy spicy!
There were so many secrets and things happening behind the scenes. I couldn’t wait for those to be explained because at times, I thought that I was missing something from another book. But by the end, everything made complete sense and wrapped up nicely.
Another extremely well done romantic suspense by LA Ferro. You are always guaranteed a book with alot of spice and secrets. Really fun and worth the read. There is a very short third act breakup.
Taboo Age Gap Dad’s best friend Living in same house Baseball
From the synopsis we know that there is a MASSIVE age gap, wait, no, it's actually a CHASM as the main characters, Cameron and Everett, are 25 years apart. Truthfully, I've never read anything with such a huge age gap in the main couple, and though I'm not a big fan of age gap romance myself, this book isn't too disappointing. I mean, as Cameron's late father's best friend, Everett takes everything about her very seriously. He's been offering her a place to live in, a lifeline to hold onto when she lost everything, and most important of all, a safe haven for her tattered heart. I love seeing the pure love and care from Everett to Cam, and how he does his utmost to make her feel loved and protected. Their chemistry is also off-the-charts, so when both of them finally acknowledge what that natural pull is between them, sparks fly. It's indeed beautiful to see such...innocent romance bloom. All in all, Cam and Everett's story really makes me think differently regarding age gap romance. Now I'm definitely more willing to give it a shot.
***Thanks to Hambright PR and the author for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
I don’t know how LA pulls off these spicy, twisty, gripping love stories but man, she keeps cranking out banger after banger! Cameron and Everett were so good, and even though I don’t always read this large of an age gap, the writing and the tension between the two of them had me completely sold.
TROPES ⬇️
~fathers best friend ~age gap ~forbidden romance ~secret romance ~slow burn ~forced proximity ~found family
Cameron and Everett had so much tension from the very beginning. She is his best friend’s daughter and went to live with him after she lost her parents. They have always been attracted to each other but Everett would never cross that line with her since she was so much younger. But then… he does and that birthday scene is one of the hottest things I’ve read.
When this man breaks, he breaks. Ans Cameron is too stubborn to give up on him. And of course in true LA fashion there is mystery and twists and just a whole wild ride. Her writing is gritty and captivating and I love it.
2.5⭐ Salt was one of the most frustrating books I've ever read. First and foremost, dad's best friend is a trope I use as a palette cleanser, so it's never been a favorite of mine. I found Cameron to be quite juvenile at times, too trusting and gullible and Everett was aggravating. Both of them had secrets and would tell the other half truths to the point where I was convinced they should not be in a relationship with one another. The amount of secrets in this story made it difficult to keep track. I still could not tell you who was who and how some characters were connected to others. Their lives and secrets were a convoluted mess. Lauren, a character that we probably should have liked, was a character I did not care for at all. Cameron and Everett weren't horrible together but I did not see a great love there either. I scraped by to get to the end. By the point I was learning everybody's secrets, I didn't care anymore. I'm happy to be done with this one.
