One for the road: “Spike's trademark coat cost $2,000 from a top fashion store. It was then run over repeatedly by a truck to give it that distressed look.” 😈
You had one job—one! And somehow, despite setting the bar extremely low, you managed to fail—dismally.
This book is a collection of trivia and quotes. After reading this book, I'm convinced Orange Hippo (the authors) have never seen the show. They did a quick Google search and cribbed some info from IMDB and a few ScreenRant lists.
The quotes are each followed by a credit to some lame ScreenRant or IMDB list. I think crediting the episode they came from would have been more interesting for fans.
Still, this could have been decent bathroom reading if the trivia was at least accurate. For example. one bit of "trivia" tells us that the only season not to feature a single episode set at the high school was season 7. Yeah, that would be the season where Dawn starts high school at Sunnydale High and Buffy is hired on as the school counselor. Many episodes that season are set at the high school, including the premiere and the series finale. There are a few seasons that don't feature any high school episodes. Those are 4, 5, and 6. Namely, because the high school was blown up at the end of season 3 and not rebuilt until season 7. It is embarrassing that this book was published.
Another example is the list of "iconic outfits" that lists the season and episode for each one except for the blue coat where it says "Season, Episode 21." Was the editor asleep?
There aren't even any cute graphics or photos. The image on the cover is the only image shown throughout the book. It is at the top of every page and is used to open each chapter.
I hate to say it because I love Buffy, but this book is a dud. Don't waste your money on it.
A cute little book that offers very little in the way of new information. Totally unofficial and unauthorised and it shows. There’s also glaring error listed as a fact which sort of shows the author/ editor knows nothing about the show.
My girlfriend got me this for my birthday, and I loved it! Some of the facts didn't seem accurate, and I wish the cited source for the quotes was the episodes they came from and not random internet lists, but I still loved it. 🖤
