The author gave me a free copy for a review! I was reluctant at first but when I read his micros.. Omg!! he's a fantastic poet! I highly recommend this book to whoever likes short poetry.
Drinking Ink is the third book I’ve read by Mehran, and once again, his words have stayed with me long after I closed the final page. His poetry has a way of quietly settling into the corners of your mind—blending raw honesty with deep, universal truths about love, longing, and the human spirit.
Mehran’s writing speaks to the heart. There’s a sincerity in his work that feels both intimate and expansive, as though he’s reaching out to connect with every reader navigating their own joys, losses, and quiet battles. He has a rare gift for finding beauty in life’s imperfections and hope in its darkest moments.
This collection moves through five chapters—Sweet Juice, Red Wine, Purple Ink, Dark Coffee, and Water—each with its own flavor and emotional aftertaste. Whether it’s the tenderness of first love, the intoxication of desire, the melancholy of loss, or the calm that comes after the storm, each “drink” lingers differently, yet all leave their mark.
Part poetry, part prose, part whispered confession, Drinking Ink is not just a book to read—it’s a book to feel. And for me, it was another reminder of why Mehran’s voice matters in today’s literary world: he writes not just to be heard, but to make you feel less alone.
This is an interesting poetry selection with some very good poetry, but it doesn't gel as a collection. It felt rather disjointed. It also needed editing so that poems which didn't earn their place in the book could be removed. I would have preferred a more logical placing on the page - some poems appear at the bottom and some at the top, so that didn't help the flow. However, there are some very strong poems here. You just need to search for them.
Wow! I am speechless... I have shivers all over my body and I just want to read it again and again. So many emotions, I can't put into words how much those poems mean to me.
