After twenty years of marriage, Zoe Robinson’s husband left to go backpacking across the U.S. and find himself, but all he found was that he didn’t want to be a husband or father anymore.
Devastated but resilient, Zoe has spent the past two years picking up the pieces of her life and starting over. Her children have issues, her house is falling apart, and her catering business isn’t enough to pay the bills. Thank goodness for chilled wine and best friends, because forty isn’t looking so fabulous.
Her weekly girls’ night is what’s keeping her sane.
Zoe’s persistent mother just wants to see her happy, but Zoe insists she’s fine on her own. She’s focusing on taking her catering business to the next level as a party planner, despite her relentless competition sabotaging her every step of the way.
She’s come to like sleeping in the middle. Her feet might get cold, but there’s no risk of her warm heart getting broken again. Until she meets the charming, younger Dr. Chaz Anderson, who is more than willing to help with an offer she’s finding hard to refuse.
Zoe must decide whether to stay in control and in the middle, or choose a side and let someone in.

Zoe and her friends will become memorable characters. The mix of romance and comedy is a definite winner in this story. Great job!
Finished the book in one day. It was an easy read when you don't want to think to hard about what you are reading. Pretty much exactly what you would expect.

I really enjoyed reading Resilient(Portrait of s Women Book 1)!!!!! All about Zoe Robinson a mom of 4 kids(Sarah, Troy, Bobby & Katy) a party planner & divorcee & Chaz Anderson a women’s Doctor, who is 4 years younger & was her one-night-stand. Apparently they went to high school together and they called him Dorkmiester. In order for Zoe to get out of her rut, she planned with the help of her three BFF’S a one-night-stand someone she had never met, to get over her hubby leaving & divorcing her to go find himself. But instead of not knowing the person it was Chaz Anderson, somebody he wanted to get to know better was Zoe. It was a fiasco from start to finish and Zoe left and never looked back. Surprise, surprise at her physical her primary doc had an emergency and had to leave, the nurse explained the situation and Zoe said I’ll wait for another doc to see me, guess who Dr. Chaz Anderson the newest doc on staff. She ran out half dressed and to.d the nurse to book with her own doc no matter when that would be. Apparently Doc Chaz Anderson was now living in Mayflower, and had joined the women’s center because his specialty was women. Read about Zoe & Chaz and see where their lives end up. Lots of emotion and tons of toes cu ruling does occur. Definite Read!!!!!
Zoe Robinson and Chaz Andersen have the opposite of a meet cute… Zoe is a 40 year old divorcee with 4 kids and a struggling business. When she decides to date again, she swipes right. But Chaz is a person from her past who had a crush on her and looks nothing like he did in HS.
I loved this story. Zoe is a fiercely independent woman struggling to find herself after being abandoned by her husband of 20 years, and left to raise their kids alone. When she and Chaz connect after her failed hookup attempt, she does everything in her power to avoid him, but the heart knows what the heart wants.
This is a laugh out loud romance, with some tears, fears, and plenty of drama from the townsfolk’s and Zoe herself. And of course there is a happy ending.
After her divorce, Zoe is afraid to give love a second chance. Can Chas wear down her defenses? Zoe’s story had some seriously hilarious, laugh-out-loud moments, but it also had some emotional and heartwarming moments, too. My favorite scene is the one with the vibrating snaky mixer, and it is a two-headed snaky, too. To know what that’s all about, you’ll have to read this entertaining romantic comedy. You will not want to do what I did and read the story with your partner sleeping in the same room. It is almost impossible not to burst out laughing. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it.
Yay! We need more older women, slightly younger men. Zoe is over forty, her husband Max left her two years ago. Her friends and manas are way too involved with her life. Seriously. Her kids are acting out. Her only bright spot is Chaz. A hot, younger doctor, who Zoe repeatedly pushes away. Are you nuts? You don’t push that away! You grab on.
