In the shadowed streets of Archer City, Havoc rises.

Once a bustling metropolis, Archer City is now a frozen wasteland and is being held under siege from within. Severed from the outside world, all hope of rescue or supplies is lost.

After the harrowing events at the school, Nathan’s life is thrown into chaos. His sister has been snatched away and it is uncertain if she still lives. His parents vanished without a trace and Sam is nowhere to be found. Nathan and the others with superpowers are the last glimmer of hope to reclaim the city’s freedom, but they are hunted and feared by those without powers.

Battle lines are drawn through the heart of Archer City as factions form.

As the city teeters on the brink of collapse, will Nathan and his friends survive long enough to fight back and win the city's freedom again? Or will the dark powers consume them all?

What a thrilling book!
A retelling of the Biblical book of Job, this story follows the same tragedy-upon-tragedy storyline. Things are bleak in Archer City after the massacre in Book One, and they only keep getting worse.

Some of the teenagers with superpowers are losing their minds because of them, the city is divided into factions, some who believe violence is the way to freedom, Havoc continues to taunt the people while remaining untouched, and people are literally starving and freezing to death.

And amidst all the terrible things, Sam's faith remains strong, even under such severe testing. He learns to pray for his enemies, and uses Scripture to ward off the darkness in the world. The Church finds a way to meet, and a group of refugees and friends pledges to stay loyal to each other no matter what.

I loved the bright spots in this book. Depsite the powerful presentation of grief and death, it felt hopeful. I am eager to devour the next book!

Finished reading this to the littlest kids and they were all staring aghast. Excited and eager for book 3 but also surprised by the twists and turns. I love moments like this! I love sharing my work with them.

I didn't know it was possible to enjoy the 2nd book of a trilogy even more than the first book-but this is it! Full of drama, suspense, true to life characters, fast-paced and emotionally charged, this YA/Christian-based fantasy novel keeps you on the edge of your seat and hardly able to wait for book three! 5 stars!
