The Arctic #3

Taking It to Overtime

Rate this book
Eager to make a name for herself, Vera Novak left home and her broken heart behind after high school. Sixteen years of strutting the runways and gracing magazine covers later, her job as a globe-trotting supermodel isn’t all she thought it would be and the luster of fame is wearing off. Her parents aren’t getting any younger either, and it might be time to revisit her small-town roots and make some changes.

At seventeen Robbie Oakes broke his best friend’s heart for a chance to play professional hockey. Now a superstar forward for the Quarry Creek Arctic, he spends his off-seasons coaching youth camps in the tiny central NY town where he was raised while still dreaming of the one he sent away.

When a bystander photograph of their surprise reunion goes viral, both of their families are convinced they’re rekindling their old romance. Pretending it’s true seems the simplest way to avoid the well-meaning meddling. The clock is already counting down to the final buzzer, but as they spend more time together, revisiting old haunts and shared memories, they find their connection is still as strong as ever.

4 stars 🌟 this was honestly a little all over the place but i LOVED verarobbie 🥹🏒💝 i loved that they both came back to each other 16 years later and let the universe run its course 😇 sometimes the chapters didn’t really line up and the week long story was a little fast paced but i still really liked this :) need a man like robbie who get a tattoo of my middle name & wear his initial on me for years 🤞🙈

This whole Artic series honestly keeps getting better and better with each book. I didn't think Erik/Quinn and their Kiss Cam meet cute could be beaten in On Ice. Then came Vic and Tristan and the illustrations in the books started. Through these first two books I was hoping that Robbie and Vera would get their own book and Stella delivers!

- Childhood best friends/dating to strangers to lovers
- It's only ever been you
- Fake Dating
- Second Chance
- Hockey romace (off season)
- Coming home
- He hates everyone but her
- Pining (SOOO much pining)
- Spicy (but not too spicy)

Robbie is now my favorite of this series hands down. The back and forth between them growing up to now was just so perfect. We get to see a little of Vik and Erik ad kids with Robbie and Vera and then we get the now. Both have been pining over each other for the last 16 years and I felt like I'd been pining right along with them.

Vera has a lot of hurt/soul searching to work through in this book with not only life but Robbie also. He broke her when they were teenagers and neither really got over it. She's starting to figure out what she wants and doesn't want and how to get everything she's always wanted.

I had a feeling Robbie was going to be serious book boyfriend material, but I didn't realize he was going to be a perfect book boyfriend since the age of 8! He is so sweet and so utterly perfect (except the whole braking his and Vera's heart when he was a teenager), but knows his second chance when he sees it and takes it with both hands and pours everything into righting the wrong.

This book is also illustrated like Vic and Tristin's was and my goodness! My heart! It's too adorable. Seeing them as kids over the years in those adorable drawings really honestly threw the book over the top for me. I couldn't get enough.

I'm so happy that Rag is getting his own book along with Tandy. Tandy is the best bff in the history of bff's btw. I adore her after this book and can't wait for her story! Thank you, Book Sirens and Stells for this ARC.

4.5 ⭐️ I really enjoyed this book! Although this is part of a series, you can read them as a standalone as well which is what I did. I feel like I wasn’t missing too much information from the other two books to not enjoy this book which was very positive for me.

I enjoyed the characters, I felt like both Robbie and Vera’s characters had some good growth throughout the book and I really enjoyed the Then vs. Now type of book setting. Overall this was a really cute and spicy second chance hockey romance!

You’ll enjoy this book if you like:
•Hockey Romance (off season)
•Childhood friends to lovers
•Second chance romance
•Then vs Now chapter settings
•Fake relationship

Thank you Stella Stevenson for the advanced copy for this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The third book in the series and my second ARC, and I can safely say that this is one of my favourite series.

Vera and Robbie are an incredibly cute couple with the childhood friends and second chances trope. She's a model, he's a hockey player, and one photo during their return to their hometown will change the lives of the main characters forever. I liked the fact that the story has two chronological boundaries - past and present - and thus the story looks holistic. For me, Vera and Robbie jumped too quickly from a fake relationship to a real one, but that's my subjective opinion.

I would also like to emphasise the very light writing style. Thank you, Stella, for making your books so easy, relaxed and interesting.

I look forward to the next book in the series.

Holy cow, this is the cutest book I’ve read all year. Stella is a new-to-me author and I am SO thankful I found her, and even more thankful for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Robbie and Vera are the sweetest childhood best friends to lovers couple EVER. I absolutely loved the dual POV, as well as the dual timelines. Having a look into their past really tugged at my heart strings.

Also, Jack is quite literally the definition of “taking one for the team”. 😍

I received an ARC of this novel. Not only is Stella Stevenson a talented author but she’s a talented artist as well. Her illustrations of the characters scattered throughout the book bring the story to life. I loved this series but each book can be read as a stand alone. I loved the dual timelines and dual POV. It had my favorite tropes of second chance romance, fake dating.

Im having a hard time believing stella stevenson is not one of the greatest names in romance. This hockey romance is absolutely amazing. It has all the best things. It has spice (real good ones), it has depth, background story, cute kid flashbacks, reality around aging parents, an adorable friendhsip, and ofcourse the cute romance. Im probably forgetting so much but i swear this book is amazing. Do yourself a favor and read it.

Thank you so much to stella stevenson for sending me the arc in exchange for my honest review. Please keep em coming!

AND SHE DID IT AGAIN FOLKS. Every book I've read from Stella I've cried at, at some point, in some way, shape, or form and that's always how I know it's phenomenal. When a book can pull at my emotions. And that's what this book was and is.

We follow Vera Novak and Robbie Oakes as they get a second chance at what they left in their teen years.

I want to keep this professional but Stella knows me and she knows how I went out of my way to learn how to eat the corn the way Vera does and then had to deal with me cry laughing to her about a scene at the end of the book, so, professionalism is out the window.

I loved it. It was such a good read and I think the relationship between Vera and Robbie was amazing, but also, the relationships between Spags and Robbie, and Spags and Vera was great too. All the relationships in the book developed nicely and strongly, even if it was just a best friend or friends.

Also, I love how her books all tie in with each other in some way shape or form, for the most part, that's always a fun thing to have in books and this book was a huge example of that.

This was a quick read (not including the like five days I lost my kindle...) and the pictures in it and text conversations made it read faster. The characters all had their own personalities and quirks about them that made them sooooo loveable. I'm not gonna lie and say that Robbie was my favorite character WHEN I FIRST STARTED READING THESE BOOKS but now I understand him a bit more and I don't see him as this grumpy hockey player that is stern anymore. Vera was so easy to love as well, and so freaking relatable. I'd see so many things that she would do or say and I'd be like "Ah yes that's a mood". Also, we cannot forget Spags... we love Spags.

Please make sure to read the trigger warnings and stuff in the beginning of the book, though, because there is some stuff in there that could be triggering to some. But overall this was a phenomenal read and I don't have any complaints about it except for the fact that now I don't know what to do with my life now that I've finished reading it. If you read this book and love it, check out all her other books too! But if you want a book with no third act break up, can make you get a little emotional while also making you cackle like a maniac, with characters that are so loveable, written by an amazing author then you gotta check this one out! Especially if you like: hockey romances, fake relationships, second chance romances, pictures in books, and more.

Thank you Stella for choosing me to be part of your team to pre read this, any thoughts are mine and mine alone and they were not influenced by this at all, will forever be honest with Stella and readers about my thoughts, and ever since day one they've been to love these books and the writing.

Thank you so much to Stella Stevenson and Booksirens for sending me an ARC of Taking It to Overtime!

Vera and Robbie grew up together in a small town in Central New York, they were the blueprint for best friends to lovers, he was an ice hockey player and she was a dancer but they wanted nothing more than to be with each other. Until Robbie got drafted and he didn't want to ruin Vera's chance at a future of making a name for herself so he broke up with her and they didn't see each other again for 16 years.

Now 16 years later Vera is heading home for a week to see her parents, not expecting to run into the man she never got over and have their picture snapped and shared online, everyone speculating on their relationship. They both welcomed the speculations and decide to 'fake it' for a week. What the worst that could happen?

I absolutely loved this book, as soon as I sae the chance to be an arc reader I knew I had to go for it, there's just something about Stella's writing that means I can't put her books down till i've finished them. I was so happy to see the characters from On Ice and Not That Kind Of Icing being mentioned in this and finding out more about Robbie's history and getting to read his story, definitely can't wait to read Left-Hand Larceny (Ragnar's story) when it releases!

In this we get chapters dedicated to both Vera and Robbie's POVs, as well as chapters in between of the two growing up and falling in love with each other from a third pov. I feel like sometimes it's hard to read books with flashbacks of young characters because the writing can feel a bit off but Stella managed to capture it perfectly and I loved it.

Now the characters, they were everything, written so well you can really feel the emotions from them and just fall in love with them all, I hope we can get Jack's story! I feel like Vera really shows how it feels to be a female this day and age, confident in herself but still insecure - like yes some representation love her! Then Robbie is just like the dream guy, so in love with her, she could ask him to do anything and you know he would in an instant.

So bittersweet to finish this book, I really didn't want to get to the end and leave the characters but now I'm all the more excited for the next instalment!

It's official. Stella Stevenson is on my auto buy, never stop promoting list. I LOVED THIS BOOK! After meeting grumpy Robbie in the other books in this series, it was SO SATISFYING to see what caused all his angst and heartache. I MELTED over the wa;y both of these characters could not stop their feelings for one another. And the flashbacks to how their friendship started? Perfection! Interspersed with artwork created by the author, this is one of my favorite books of the year!

Sixteen years ago, Robbie left his small home town to pursue his dreams of being in the NHL. He left behind his first and only love, Vera. He knew she would come with him if he asked, but he knew she was destined for great things and he didn't want to hold her back. (Cue the sobbing!) He has come back to town to run a summer hockey camp, as he does each year (insert heart squish here) and has brought along his teammate, the energetic, if not a bit much, Jack "Spags". Spags is best known for getting himself in hot water (see previous books), so the team is taking turns watching him during the offseason.

Vera is on her way home for the first time in years. She wants to surprise her father on his birthday. She is feeling a bit nostalgic since her best friend lost her father recently. She isn't prepared for the feelings she has for Robbie to resurface so hard. What makes it worse is when Robbie picks up Spags, who happened to be on Vera's flight. An innocent greeting and a picture of the event are the catalyst for the events of her stay. Everyone thinks that she and Robbie are back together and their parents are thrilled for them. Would it be so wrong to play along for the trip? Bonus points for a nostalgic fling....

But when the feelings are too real on both their sides, will they take another chance on love?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️🌶️🌶️

When an author writes a “then and now” timeline within a story, it can be really messy or perfection. Stella delivers perfection in writing a story that jumps between the present and the past. It is easy to follow, the past storylines give purpose and meaning to the story. They aren’t just there to fill in the pages. And we need the “now and then” story to see how great this romance truly is and how long it’s been growing.

Vera and Robbie have known each other for a long time. Growing up together, we get to see them be friends first, watch their feelings grow, one shatter the other, and watch as they come back together to heal and complete their story. Vera has gone through her share of heartache and it has taken her some time to truly resolve and heal. Her character’s journey throughout this book is so enjoyable to read and watch.

Robbie is perfection! His heart is so tender and beats only for Vera. His journey is just as enjoyable to read as Vera’s, just a journey to win her back. He is head over heels for this woman and wants to give her everything she deserves. He knows he has time to make up for and isn’t going to stop until he proves his love.

Everything in this book was enjoyable. I loved the characters, their journey, and their growth. I loved the writing, the storyline, and the illustrations throughout the book. If I had to use one word to talk about this book it would be love!

As always review trigger warnings before reading.

“Vera Novak looked up at me with those big green eyes and my brain melted out of my ears.”

Thank you so much Stella for sending me the arc review of this!

This story was a really sweet reconnection story.

Robbie the grumpy nhl player, never really forgiven himself for leaving Vera all those years ago, finally seeing her again and basically melting on the sport for her. I liked the way that he was the inexperienced one out the two and she showed him exactly what she wanted. It was a flip on the usual script. (This one is probably the least spicy of the series though)

Vera was sweet, you could she her cogs turning and her setting down roots before she even realises what she’s doing. I also liked that she put her big girl panties on and was able to get and Robbie together and express exactly what she wanted, that everything would be decided together.

Spags made this for me, he was a wind up. I loved every moment he appeared as well as the way he grew up and became the person Robbie could lean on when he needed him. I totally love the fact he called Robbie and Vera mum and dad.

This is a sweet story, a sweet introduction of these two coming back together and choosing each other first. I like the flash back scenes to when they were kids. They had so much history it added to the depth of their relationship knowing how long they’ve been together and that they were made for each other.

Even if the teenage breakup scene was brutal and made me cry.

The first two book completely sold me on this new to me author, and this 3rd book in the series has me completely hooked on her writing! She combines emotionally moving storytelling with humor, surprises and amazing characters that grow and develop over the course of the story.

The story focuses on the now when both Vera and Robbie are back in their hometown for the first time in 16 years. These two grew up best friends and soul mates. The here and now is has them both floundering with seeing the other, with a young teammate of Robbie along to torment and help push them together. Vera is a world known supermodel and Robbie is a star hockey player in
the NHL.

These two had an incredible connection as teenagers which we see through flashback chapters sprinkled every couple of chapters. Robbie made the difficult choice to break up with Vera so she would pursue her own dreams and not get trapped into following his hockey career. He not only broke Vera’s heart, but he completely broke his own.

I loved both of these characters so much. There isn’t a villain, only the sad circumstance of having found their soul mate at 8 and 9. I loved the fake dating premise - that doesn’t stand a chance of being fake for even a moment.

Jack adds some fun and helps Robbie get the girl.

Completely loved this book! It was on my TBR wishlist, and I sought it out on BookSiren as an ARC because I couldn’t wait for the release date!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Childhood friends to lovers + Second chances + Fake dating + Hockey = a wonderful third book in The Arctic Series! This time the story centres around player Robbie Oakes and Vera Novak, the girl his head told him he should walk away from but his heart never got the memo.

If you’ve read the first two books (which by the way I don’t think is essential to enjoy this one) you’ve met Robbie before. Best friend to main characters in those books, Erik and Vic Varg, he grew up in the same small town. Returning there for a summer coaching program, the first person he sees is Vera, now an international model. Thrust together by circumstances, they just need to make it look like they’re together again for a week. Which is both very easy and extremely difficult.

I really enjoyed this book, perhaps even a little more than the first two because second chance is my favourite trope at the moment. Expect the same relatable characters, a believable storyline and a beautiful HEA. One aspect that was done really well was the way the chapters from the past were woven cleverly between those in the present. We see Robbie and Vera at important points in their relationship from the time they met as children through to the night they broke up.

An extra bonus is the cute art work throughout, made by the author herself it shows another of her talents as well as bringing the characters to life.

This is book 3 in her The Artic series. All are standalone, but interconnected. I have read all 3 and this one may be my fave! Robbie and Vera are the best characters and I love her secondary characters so much! A thing I love about this series is that sprinkled in throughout the book are the CUTEST illustrations! 😍 It really helps me visualize the two as they grow together.

If you love hockey romances I recommend you read this book/ series! The chemistry and longing in this book has you giddy and excited for these two to figure it out and hopefully make it back to each other! This is a second chance romance, childhood sweethearts who parted ways post HS to pursue their own dreams. Problem is it’s been 16 years and neither has gotten over the other.

Vera is a gorgeous 5’11 super model who walks the most prestigious runways and is recognized everywhere (thank you for repping us tall girls Stella 🙏🏻). Robbie is a hot shot in the NHL and has had a long lucrative career. When they both go back to visit their small New York town they didn’t plan on running into each other at the airport!

Since both their parents are ecstatic when the pair are photographed together (and think they got back together), they pretend to be a couple for their sake. Will the torch they’ve carried for each other the last 16 years wink out or blaze even hotter?!

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Disclaimer: I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks, Stella!

Reading Order: You can read out of order. These are interconnected standalones. Some characters from prior books make an appearance.

General Thoughts: This is by far my favorite book Stella has ever written, and I have loved them all. Stella is such a multi-talent. She illustrated all the images in the book (and cover) and wrote one heck of a book. This book is simply adorable and was such a breath of fresh air and so swoonworthy. I loved it. It was so nice to dive into and get lost in this book, these characters, and their lives.

Stella is such a gem of a writer, and I'm always anxiously waiting to see what she comes out with next. She's also a gem of a person, too. Do yourself a favor and get lost in this book. You won't regret it.

Second-chance romance can be hard to do well. But Stella more than does it justice here. Not your traditional hockey romance.

Spice Meter:❤️‍🔥 Some spicy scenes, but not as graphic or frequent as some.

Romantic Tropes

-contemporary romance
-sports hockey romance
-childhood friends/lovers

Aww, what a sweet and sassy story. Vera and Robbie were friends since grade school and the relationship grew into more as they got older. However, life happened, and they went their separate ways to full fill their dreams. Sixteen years later, they meet again, and it is as if they never left. Their chemistry was till off the charts and their best friend's status was restored. My heart broke for Vera upon her mother's health diagnosis as I went through the same with my dad. Having Robbie, his family, and her dad as her village of comfort and strength is going to help her with her mother's diagnosis. I loved how Robbie remained true to Vera even after their breakup. He is one of the best out there. I was so happy to see that they finally got their happily ever after even though it took sixteen years! The photos used in the flashback chapters are adorable!! I loved the ending where Vera's dad asks her mom, "Viv? What happened to the porch swing?" I was in stitches when I read that quote… Loved this sports romance and I could not put it down. I cannot wait for a chance to read book four if one is added to the series.

I loved this book so much. I've read about Robbie in the previous books of the series and couldn't wait to read his story. I loved the flashbacks to when Robbie and Vera were kids. I liked how it showed the progression of their friendship into a romantic relationship. I loved the "shared custody" of Jack 😂
I thought it was sweet that Robbie was her first kiss and her first for other experiences too. I loved their first date together, it was a cute scene. I loved this book so much. My favorite quotes from the book: “I love you Vera. I have since the first time I saw you on that playground, standing up to those asshole kids. It took one look to know you are mine. You are precious.”

“We could have had it all. We’ll never know.”
“You’re right. We won’t. But this is where we are now. And all I know is that I’ve missed you every day. I hear the sound of your laugh walking down the sidewalk. I look for the color of your hair in the stands during games. There has been no one else, Vera. Not for me. Not ever. When I say I’ll take whatever you’re willing to give me, it’s because losing you again won’t change the way I feel when we’re apart. I’m still going to love you, Vera. I will love you until they put me in the ground. I will love you even after that.”

🎉Happy Release Day @stellastevensonwrites 🎉

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

This is book 3 in the Arctic Book Series and I am just in love. Robbie and Vera are childhood sweethearts and Robbie leaves her at 17 to join the NHL, as he wanted Vera to chase her dreams of being a model. Fast forward and they are given a second chance when they both return home.

This book made me cry like a baby (check the TW’s). I was sat in a theme park, crying my eyes out. I absolutely adored this book; it’s just so beautiful. I loved Robbie and Vera- they were meant to be together. Second chance romances are my favourite and this just did not disappoint.

I am a massive fan of Stella and her writing, and I was super excited to read this. I adore the way she creates such diverse and realistic characters and this is evident in TITO.

I loved that Robbie became ‘dad’ for the cute as hell Jack Spaeglin whilst Vic (MMC in Book 2) is on his honeymoon. Jack was just soo funny and I loved the way he pushed Robbie’s buttons.

You don’t need to read books 1&2 but I do recommend it as they are absolutely fantastic.

This is the third book in the Arctic-series but it van be read as a stand-alone. It tells Robbie's and Vera's story. They were childhood best friends, highschool sweetheart and generally each other's "the One". But when Robbie got drafzed he broke up with Vera in order to no stand in the way of her dreams. Now, 16 years later they meet again in their hometown and both come to realize that old feelings die hard.
I enjoyed reading this book soo much. I was already looking forward to Robbie's story based on the glimpses I read of him in the first books of the series and I really loved his and Vera's story. They are both great characters and I especially liked reading the flash-backs to their childhood. The one thing that didn't sit well with me was the part with Vera's mom. I couldn't really believe that Vera wouldn't realize what was going on way before she did and that nobody would talk about her condition sooner. Other than that a perfectly enjoyable hockey romance.
I received an ARC via booksirens.com and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Vera and Robbie met as children, became best friends, and then more. But first loves don’t last, right? Despite his love for Vera, Robbie breaks up with her after high school so that they would be free to pursue their dreams. They both move on with their lives while yearning for their lost love. Robbie has become a hockey star, while Vera is now a famous model and influencer. Sixteen years later, circumstances have brought them back to their small New York hometown at the same time. Will they take the opportunity to try to have a HEA, or are there too many obstacles? This book has well-written dual points of view, good supporting characters, a few plot bumps and some adult heat. It did take me awhile to get into the rhythm of the alternating time jumps between the past and the present, but the snapshots of their childhoods together were helpful to understand the characters’ deep connection. Vera and Robbie’s emotions feel very authentic. Extremely romantic story! I received an advance copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Second chance after 16 years!
I love this series! Each one seems to be better than the last. I found the way Ms. Stevenson used flashbacks to complete the romance between Vera and Robbie to be entertaining and informative. When they met on the playground at 8yo and 9yo, little did they know that their friendship would become much more. But, 17yo Robbie is called up to the junior league in ice hockey and needs to make some changes according to his coaches. That fateful event shapes both of their futures for the next sixteen years! Their second chance comes by happenstance when they both return home at the same time; unbeknownst to them Vera arrived with a big Nordic cupid named Jack, Robbie’s teammate. He is truly a highlight in this book. He is funny, sweet, mischievous, and a little naughty but he gets the job done.
If you like your romance with just the right amount of steam to angst and an ending worth their waiting, you will want to read this book! I volunteered to review an ARC of it through BookSirens.

Taking It To Overtime by Stella Stevenson is the 3rd book in her Arctic series. All books are standalones.

Vera and Robbie have loved each other since they were in elementary school, but Robbie thought it would be better if they let go after he left to play hockey. He didn't want to hold Vera back from her dreams. Sixteen years later, they run into each other at the small airport near their hometown and the feelings are still there.

All of the characters in Taking It To Overtime are so real and relatable! I chuckled a lot while reading this book, and even got caught laughing out loud a few times. But there are some serious subjects in this book, which makes everything even more real.

I loved this book for the unique story and the witty banter between the characters. This book was my introduction to Stella Stevenson, and I plan to read a lot more of her books! Enjoy this one!!

Taking It To Overtime by Stella Stevenson

The Arctic Book 3

291 Pages

Release Date 23rd August 2024

Stella Stella Stella... you have done it again, I ache in all the best ways! The emotion throughout this book is just captivating from the get go.
Robbie is back home to run a hockey camp for a week, not expecting his childhood sweetheart to also be in town, Vera hasn't been home for a long time and doesn't expect to be thrust into Robbie Oakes' orbit again 16 years after he broke her heart.

Throughout the book you bounce between Robbie and Vera as kids and present day showing their very beginning, a glimpse into what was, showing how strong their friendship was to start, including their friendships with Vic and Erik!

The artwork throughout showing them growing up is a beautiful touch, and seeing their relationship blossom in front of my eyes really helped invision the story.

I would highly recommend this book for anyone who believes in soulmates, for fans of Second Chance, Childhood Best Friends, Soulmates, and Hockey Romances.

Stella has done it again! After reading this in less than 24 hours, I can tell you this second chance romance has my whole heart.

THOUGHTS 💭
🏒 This book was so funny; I found myself giggling at Jack’s antics, Robbie’s thoughts, and all the shenanigans.
🏒 There is something about fake dating your childhood sweetheart who you grew apart from… ❤️
🏒 I don’t always love flashbacks in books, but these were expertly done, I loved seeing how Robbie and Vera’s story started.
🏒 I love the late 90’s/early 2000s references! Lizzy McGuire, Limited Too, Lisa Frank, etc.
🏒 This was sweet and loving and funny and romantic and I just loved Robbie and Vera’s story!
🏒 Stella writes about some heart-wrenching topics that hit you right in the feels. This was a lighthearted read… Mostly. There are some tough moments, so please read your TWs!

Thanks so much to Stella Stevenson for the ARC of this book!

Vera and Robbie's story is so sweet. This is a great read for those who are in the mood for a quick, cozy read!

We get to explore Vera and Robbie, who were high school sweethearts, but with big dreams, they break up, thinking it will be the only way they can both reach their goals. They run into each other at the airport back home, their reunion is caught on camera, and they decide to "fake" date while they're both home to make their families happy. This always works out, right? 😉

I love these stories of finding their way back to each other and it's always been you. I really enjoyed all their trips back to memory lane, the forced proximity, it was great!

Tropes:
Hockey Player x Model
It's Always Been You
High School Sweethearts
"Fake" Dating
Forced Proximity
Second Chance

Thank you, Stella, for sending me this ARC!

What an adorable way to share their love story! I enjoyed the flashback chapters with key periods of time from when Vera and Robbie were growing up. I will though say that having these chapters did take away from their “current” relationship. The book took a span of about a week.

The previous books had some good references to the one that got away, which I assumed would be the fmc for Robbie’s story. Vera meeting Spags first at the airport was great for the storyline. It was like she took him in as that little brother like the guys on the team have. I felt they feel back into their old love so easily. It did break my heart when Vera discovered the truth about her mother.

I thought Spags would maybe be next for mmc because he had such a prominent part of this book, but maybe he will get more development in one or more books first.

Book 3 in the Arctic Series and my goodness, Stella has given me more reasons to love her ans now Robbie Oakes!

Stella Stevenson is an automatic read for me, I like how the books are paced, the plot is always easy to binge and fall in love with the characters. Not just the MCs but the side characters as well.

In TITO, I loved the then and now chapters as it really gave back story for the second chance romance.

Robbie is a genuine man with a heart of gold. He seems aloof, detached and only interested in hockey but he is a sweet man with a huge heart hidden under all the hockey pads.

Vera is the strong, determined and stubborn. She has worked hard to make a name for herself and to try to heal a broken teenage heart.

The second chance romance was something that flowed easily with focusing on both our main characters, and as mentioned, the then and now chapters really helped with this element. It was so easy to support the MCs and hope that the second chance romance played out with no third act breakups or them missing out on any more time together.

Side note... I love Spags so much and I hope he gets his own book as his character growth is getting better and better
