In this book Alex skillfully guides us creatives away from fear and anxiety about our ability to create. With his arsenal of 43 beautifully crafted chapters he blows away the procrastination, excuses and “reasons” we have for not tending to our craft.
He shows us that being an artist is a marathon and not a sprint. It’s a great mission that we are pursuing to add value in our own little corner. We first find our cause, then we fall in love with our craft, love it more with each piece we produce as we gradually but definitely improve, galvanising our identity.
This book is perfect for anyone in the creative, artistic or knowledge work fields. It is a warm, humorous and expertly illustrated series of perfectly sized chapters of advice. Lots of how to do, what to do and maintain your authenticity and sanity while doing it. I can’t recommend it enough.

This is the book that comes after The War of Art and Turning Pro. Alex put words to the creative process and helped solidify in my mind the habits, routines, and mindsets that are critical to keep creating. I’ve run a small nonprofit for nine years and I’m adding this one to our leadership library. Finally, I don’t have many friends who are creating without a boss telling them what to do—this book fills that void and gives me a fellow creator to turn to, who’s taken the time to verbalize the process and has the drive to keep going too.
