Rate this book
The crew of the Sybil Curse has become stranded in Dragao Terra—a strange land inhabited by dragon shifters who are on the verge of destruction.

Janelle and Elijah have become separated from the others, so the crew splits up to find them. However, the danger they face will put their loyalties and their lives under a brutal strain that threatens to tear everything apart.

Meanwhile, Mazie, the First Mate, can see that the darkness within the elf, Aiden, is growing stronger. He’s losing control over his mind, and it wouldn’t be long before he succumbs to the monster they all fear. But a new ally named Kaeli will provide desperately needed help to fight the evils that roam the land. As their plan unfolds, an unlikely connection will bloom between Mazie and the stranger that may be the key to bringing down the empire and saving her family.

The pirate crew must rally together to survive and unravel the power that binds them to Fate. They will also discover hidden truths that Dragao Terra may play a greater role in their own world than they realized.

Hey readers! I'm D.L. Blade.

I've always had a passion for creative writing, starting my career as an author with somewhat milder books and now exclusively writing dark romance. I love looking for ways to take my readers on a journey into a world of unconventional love, morally gray men, and villains who get the girl.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, attending rock concerts, and exploring new restaurants in Denver.

I dream of continuing to create exciting novels for my readers and taking them on a journey through the magical realms that spill from the pages of my books.

***All three of my young adult novels are written under Diana B. Lynn. Please note that if you see the titles The Dark Awakening, The Dark Underworld & The Dark Deliverance out there, these are NOT adult, dark romances, like I write today. They are young adult romances.

"D.L. Blade's latest installment in the Zemiran Chronicles is a thrilling addition to the series, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. One aspect I particularly appreciated was the inclusion of recaps from books 1 and 2. Not only did this serve as a helpful refresher for readers like myself who may have read other books in between, but it also ensured that everyone was fully acquainted with the characters, setting, and storyline without the need for repetitive exposition.

The prologue sets the stage perfectly, hinting at the tumultuous events that are about to unfold and setting the tone for the gripping narrative ahead. As the story unfolds, readers are taken on a rollercoaster ride of action, intrigue, and unexpected twists, leaving them breathless and eagerly turning the pages to uncover what happens next.

Throughout the series, Blade has masterfully built a rich and immersive world within the Zemiran Chronicles, filled with vividly drawn characters and intricately woven plotlines. While it's with a hint of sadness that I bid farewell to this world, I am grateful for the unforgettable journey and the sheer brilliance of Blade's storytelling.

In conclusion, while it's bittersweet to see the series come to a close, I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent within the pages of the Zemiran Chronicles. Blade's exceptional writing has made this series a standout in the realm of fantasy literature, and I eagerly await whatever imaginative worlds she brings to life in the future.".

The Empress of Fire (The Zemiran Chronicles) is the finale of this explosive fantasy romance series. After reading this book it’s undeniable clear to see that D. L. Blade’s forte in writing in the fantasy romance genre. This is the absolute best fantasy romance series I ever read. This series has all the elements of a fantasy romance story that should be made into a movie series. Dragons, elves, mermaids, pirates and other mythical creatures, fated mates, found family, light and dark magic, portal’s to other-worlds all intricately entwined to bring all three books that are interconnected together. The prologue sets the stage perfectly, hints at the turbulent events that are about to unfold and sets the tone for this captivating sequence of events. As the story unfolds, readers are transported into a world filled with adventures, mystique and unexpected twists and turns keeping you turning the pages. Told in multipoint of view, new characters, a new romance and riveting plot twists with this gripping narrative. The story plot, and characters come together in this intoxicating ending. I can’t handle this being the last we see of these characters and hope a spinoff series starting Aiden is being written.

I received an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of the Empress of Fire in exchange for an honest review. This review is a description of my own feelings and opinions of the story. The third and final book in the Zemiran Chronicles is a continuation of the previous two stories, The Sea of Zemira and King Elijah. It encompasses the story and characters from the two previous stories, as well as introduces us to some new characters.

This story was eventful and action packed. I loved reading the multiple points of view in the story line, and moving across different worlds. It does jump back and forth a lot between the different characters and locations, but flows and ties all together. It was an epic conclusion to the trilogy.

If you like stories with themes of pirates, elves, dragons and other mythical creatures, found family, light and dark magic, fated mates, this is a great world to immerse yourself in. Be sure to check trigger warnings before reading.

I am honoured to have been chosen to read and review the epic conclusion to the Zemiran Chronicles. I look forward to reading more books from D.L. Blade in the future.

This is book three of the Zemiran Chronicles and it's a great book detailing the relationship between the first two books along with some new characters.

This book has Love, Adventures, Sorrow, Romance, Evil, Hot Men and Women, Shifters, Magic, Spice, and a HEA.

It's the follow up of book two's ending and let's just say that you need to make sure that you have the time and energy to keep reading this since I stayed up till almost 2am and was back to reading at about 5:30am so I could finish the story lol.

Definitely a game changer and a good follow-up in the series.

An exciting trip with the crew into a new unknown realm to round off the series. Known characters and new ones with lots of surprises to keep you thrilled and more than enough spice and suspense that's riveting with a touch of tragic. Loved the synopsis of the previous books in the beginning to refresh the memory.

The Empress of Fire: A Fantasy Romance

This is part of the Zemiran Chronicles, and this series covers what a fantasy romance should be. Fantasy romance is one of my favorite genres, it’s a genre that I could read all day every day, and this series delivered perfectly. It is definitely a series that I will re-read.

The world building and characters are fantastic. I was captured every single second and couldn’t put it down.

I am hopeful to see more of these characters in different series and I look forward to reading more of this lovely authors work!

Out of all 3 books in the trilogy this was the most stunning.
I was tense the whole way through.
I absolutely loved the venture into the dragon world, the dragon shifters, even though they were major alphaholes.
The plot here was different, much darker and I loved it. It was extra dark and twisty. My fav.
I'm honestly sat here emotional because I know this is the end, and I'm glad for the endings for all the characters journeys.
Even though we have lost and gained new characters along the way, they will stay with me always.
I adored the new relationship arc formed in this book I'm a Kaizie fan!!! ❤️
I really wanted the dragon shifters to be kinder but something about them being so villainous was yum. They went over the noncon, and hit new levels of bad, and I still worship the story.
Spice at 40%ish. Enjoy my smut sisters.

I will say this book was going to be a 3.75 for me but there was this one moment to the end that got me all in my feels where I got teared up so that bumped it to a 4 for me. This is the conclusion the Zemiran Chronicles Trilogy with so many of the characters from books 1&2 being dropped into a new realm where they have to survive and hopefully make it back home. This book has a lot of viewpoints with their own little journeys all working towards the same end goal. I will say this wasn't necessarily overwhelming or hard to keep track of, but I would find it at times a little disruptive because just as I would be getting into viewpoint it would switch to someone else's and then I would get into their story, and it would switch again. So just at time I would get a little irritated by all the jumping around.

For most of this book we are in this new realm where all the characters are separated and trying to come up with a plan to reunite and stay alive and for a lot of this book there is just failure after failure and just when you think someone has a win there is a betrayal and they have lost again. So, it was a little discouraging at times because I kept wondering if they were ever going to catch a break. It was so tempting for me to take a peek at the end of the book to get a clue if there was actually going to be a happy ending, but I was able to resist.

Now I would say personally the romance while in the book is light and more towards the end of the book as most of the couples in this book have already been matched up but there is one new couple in this book, but things don't heat up until later. So, it is heavier on the fantasy end with rich world building and all these magical beings, creatures, portals and magic.

Overall, this has been a very good fantasy series that I have enjoyed reading and I am a little sad to see these character's stories end even though I know some were able to get their happy endings.

This book starts off with the Sybil's curse going through the portal and coming out on the other end. While most of the crew are okay and all together some were separated and are missing. But that's not all... the dragon of their crew is actually a shapeshifter and is actually from this realm and is actually the queen of this land or is supposed to be. The crew after getting over their shock decides the best thing to do is to separate and try to locate their missing friends and to do it quickly as the realm is not what it used to be and is very dangerous to those who reside there but especially for those who are unwanted and trespassing from other realms. But by separating it starts off a chain of events where those that they previously trusted turn on the crew, they come into contact with people who help them and some who help them only to betray them. And in the end while they all hope to be reunited and return home that is not in the stars for all of them as some will never see their realm again. It's a wild fantasy ride that closes out this trilogy perfectly.

I did receive an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review but by the time I got to it, it was released on KU so I downloaded it off of there to read instead.

"You're the closest thing to the stars I've ever known.... My reason to walk through this world and every other." -- One of my favorite quotes from the book.

The recap was helpful, so I didn't have to reread books one and two. It wasn't dry, either, like some other recaps I've read. There is also a cool map in the beginning of the book.

This was the longest installment in the series yet, but it was full of action and romance and did not drag on. It was darker than the others, so definitely read the trigger warnings. There is an info dump at the beginning, but it's necessary, so it's worth pressing through.

There were so many good lines in this book, but many of them would be spoilers. You'll just have to read it to see.

I don't often find a series I don't want to end, but this was one.

I've come to expect brilliant plot twists from D.L. Blade. So. Many. Plot twists.

Definitely recommend this book, as I do for the others I've read by this author.

A New World

Elijah and Janelle have been separated not only form each other but from Nola, Lincoln and the crew as well. A new threat comes from the dragon shifters who have been ruling their world with fear and darkness. The fate of both worlds will rely on revelations and allies to peace. This was an adventurous story with action, excitement and danger.

This conclusion was everything!

There was surprise, anger, fear, sadness and tears and tears. I was here for every chapter! The wrap up and conclusion of those who made it and the memories of those who didn’t made for one of the absolute best epilogues I have read this year!
These were my first D.L Blade reads and I’m hooked.. this trilogy is competing with Acotar for #1 in my ❤️!

I don’t know how this book is rated so high. I guess it just isn’t for me. I got about 60% of the way through and decided to drop it. The book was filled with sexual abuse, woman being treated as objects, tied up, gagged, choked…. the list goes on. I kept waiting for something different to happen but it just kept going. There was a warning in the beginning but I figured it would be one or two scenes not the entire book!

If you liked book 1 and 2, you'll LOVE book 3! We get all our favorite characters back, plus a few new ones that you'll enjoy just as much. There is a lot of plot, and I'd say this is the spiciest of the series! Definitely recommend.

What a book!!Absolutely loved this whole series and this third book ,I think, was my favourite!
More action, more plot twists, just more!!
Anaru’s story was heartbreaking but she was a badass.
I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want you to ruin a single second of the epic journey that anyone who reads this is about to experience.
If like me all it took were the words pirates and dragons jump in to this series..you won’t regret it 💜

The third and final installment of the Zemiran Chronicles is not an easy read but it is an incredibly fulfilling one. As you might expect, with the nature of concluding books it brings into its own story threads from books 1 and 2, in this case also couples from books 1 and 2. There is a new romance and these balance the horror of some of the action. It is also thrilling, a true page-turner.

I appreciated the recaps of books 1 and 2. Partly because I have read a few books in the meantime but more so because that is a nice way to ensure all readers are familiar with characters, setting and story plot without having to weave into or repeat material. There is then a prologue and we get to the nitty gritty of the story itself and that phrase seems apt. Suiting the action that is to come. Prepare for a bumpy ride.

Moving across worlds, through portals, and telling us the story from the perspectives of each of the couples there is a lot to take in and as much as this book might make you feel that you HAVE to reach the end, you NEED to know how it will all conclude, it is at the same time, a book to take your time with. The narrative conducts itself perfectly but it is important to take it all in as action is happening at different times in different places whilst interlinking to create the whole.

D.L. Blade has built a fantastic world in her Zemiran Chronicles and whilst I was sorry to see it concluding I have very much enjoyed the journey and the amazing writing.
