Bonita Gray has the perfect life until tragedy strikes and she is left to raise her two boys by herself.
Like all other single parents, she, too, endures many challenges and fears before her little ones are all grown up.
However… parenthood as she knew it is flipped upside down when one obstacle that Bonita thought she’d never have to face arises. One that may force her to choose life or death for one child over the other and lead her to fear for her very own livelihood.
What if one of your children did something so horribly wrong and the other child was blamed for the crime, but you, the mother, knew the truth? What… would… you… do?
Enjoyable story. To me it read like a journal even though it wasn't formatted that way. Identical twins always have creeped me out and the build up in this story just seemed like something diabolical was going to happen. Definitely a worthy mystery. It does end on a cliff hanger and that was a little disappointing. But I'll be reading the next book for sure!
This was a quick read but not as exciting as I had hoped by the title. The killing doesn't happen until the end of the book. The story was well written as far as giving the behind the scenes of the characters. I did like the twist of having identical twins which causes mix ups including the killing; however, there just wasn't much excitement for me.
This is one of the worst short stories I have read or listen to in a long, long time. ICU:The Killing written by JD Black is as flat as a flat tire. It’s just an hour and 15 minutes so I kept reading, waiting for the mystery the author promised. Virtual voice was used on this one and unfortunately that was a mistake. It sounded like a child talking. But again, the book seems to be written by a young teenager. No big words or twists in this audiobook. I am still wondering what was in the letter Missy gave her to read ASAP. Maybe it wasn’t important. 🤷🏻♀️ There are 2 follow ups after this one I believe… I pass.
This is a really deep and gripping short story and I was sucked in the entire read. There are lots of twists within the book that I didn’t see coming and so much family drama. It has real life struggles that I could feel in my heart. I enjoyed the authors writing style and the narration as well. (Audiobook) The story ended rather quickly, but there’s a part 2, so I’ll be grabbing that one!
3.5 ⭐️ There are 3 parts to the overall story and this short story is just part 1. Parts 1 & 2 end on a cliffhanger much like they do in comics, making you eager for the next issue to be released. I would've preferred that all parts were bound together to make one book instead of having to download and read them separately, but I read all 3 parts in one sitting so it still kinda read like a regular short story with a brief intermission lol I'm rating all 3 together as one short story.
1️⃣ Part 1 is hard to rate on its own since not a lot really happens until the end. 2️⃣ Part 2 has a lot more going on, and is a very quick read. 3️⃣ Part 3 ends pretty abruptly, and I would've liked to have had something a little tidier. ✅️ Overall though, not a bad little story, and the lesson is to never trust twins! Lol I fully support indie authors, and I would read other writings from this one.
There were so many twist and turns in the story. I was hooked from the first page. I really loved Bonita’s story and her point of view with her husband and Justice and Jason. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series to find out how it ends.

This was a disappointment. It was a lot of run on sentences that jumped from one period of time to another. There was not a lot of background info or character details provided. And to be such a short read the author had the nerve to leave it a cliff hanger without having the sequel linked. Very disappointing read! And the title and the book cover gives an entirely different expectation than what you actually get when you read this book.
This well written story is so good. This is my first read by this author and I am loving the storyline. The secrets, drama, lies and dysfunction of one of the characters is so bad. I can't wait for book. I am so ready for more.
I was looking for a quick easy read and this book fit that perfectly! I won’t give any spoilers away, but that ending was a shock I didn’t see coming. 5stars for me
This was a compelling short story. The lengths a mother would go to to protect her children and how her own emotions can sometimes get in the way. It was beautifully written and I felt all of the emotions the main character went through!
Terrible. Felt like one long run-on sentence. I am still waiting for the plot. It was only about 40 pages once you took away all the notes. The 3 books could have been combined into one short story.
Not impressed or pressed to read the next 2 installations.
Book was so quick I didn't realize the book was over. It kept my attention, but I was waiting for the shit to hit the fan. It doesn’t, but the way it ends you know the drama comes next book lol.
This was short but it felt long with how much time passed. I felt like it finally started getting thrilling when the mom realized something was off, and shortly after it ended. Also, what was with the letter that Missy gave the mom?
