Alison Kane died in a fiery Lamborghini crash with her Bitcoin boss, Maxwell. A year later, widower Cameron Kane and their seven year old daughter are still adjusting to living without her.
When Cameron sees a man who resembles Maxwell, doubts about their deaths begin to stir inside him and Cameron can't help but dig up the investigation and question everything.
I enjoyed this thriller and I find the pace pretty solid. Actions await later but the plot was intriguing from the beginning and kept me guessing all the way. I have to say that the reveal was just a tad letdown, but overall a great listen with George Newbern's narration. 7/10 ~ 3.5⭐

Cameron Kane's world was shattered when he lost his wife, Alison, in a tragic car accident over a year ago. Struggling to put the pieces back together while juggling the responsibilities of raising their daughter, Cameron couldn't shake the eerie circumstances surrounding Alison's death. Her remains were found alongside Maxwell, a wealthy white-collar criminal, it seemed too twisted to be a mere coincidence. Trying to move forward, Cameron found himself face to face one day with a man who bore an uncanny resemblance to Maxwell. Doubts flooded his mind. Was it possible that Maxwell was still alive? And if so, what did that imply about Alison's fate? Refusing to let unanswered questions haunt him, Cameron resolved to delve deeper into his wife's case, completely unaware of the shocking revelations that awaited him.
The concept and story was good. However, I feel like a certain element missing from the narrative. Overall, a decent read. If you enjoy mystery infused with action, this might be for you.
***Thank you to NetGalley, Hilton Reed, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***
Sometimes I wonder if I don’t enjoy novels written in a distinctly male voice, but then I stumble upon a great read like this one and remember traditionally male protagonists can absolutely inspire emotion, empathy, excitement, too, when they’re well done.
Premise - a year after his wife dies in a fiery crash, a widowed single father thinks he sees her (dead) copassenger at the airport. This sets him on a path of conspiracy and intrigue - were his wife and crypto-billionaire boss really the bodies in that car?

Fantastic! Beyond All Doubt is very well written. The first couple of chapters may seem slow, but before you know it, the story grips you. And once it gets its hooks in you, you will not want to put it down! It's a rollercoaster thrill of action, twists and turns, narrow escapes and small triumphs; with a well-deserved ending. It has a good plot, strong well-developed characters, and setting. The setting is so well described it almost feels like a character on its own; you'll feel like you're right on the streets of New York. Have you ever lost someone you love in an accident? What would you do if there was even an inkling that they could possibly still be alive? When faced with this dilemma Cameron Kane took the bull by the horns and rode it to the end. He was determined to prove Alison his wife didn't die under the circumstances he was told. In fact, could she be alive? Several people thought he was crazy or in denial. Or perhaps he just needed closure. Ill equipped as he was, he stuck to his guns and pushed till he found the truth. It's hard to believe this is Hilton Reed's first novel. Mr. Reed you've been holding back on us; happy you came out with a bang. Bravo! I would highly recommend Beyond All Doubt to everyone. Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for an ARC of this novel. It was a pleasure reading it and providing my honest review.
This book started out really good but then it became a little farfetched., too much shooting and death. It just seemed very unrealistic and unbelievable. I listened to the audiobook and I did enjoy the narrator.
3 stars Cameron lost his wife in a car crash a year ago, but as he is walking through an airport now, he swears he sees the man who was killed in the car crash with her. This just can’t be… Cameron goes on a twisty search to find out what happened to his wife Alison and if she could still be alive.
The story starts slow, but picks up speed about halfway. The reason for the 3 stars is because I found the story a bit unrealistic and silly. If you like those somewhat unrealistic action thrillers, you might really enjoy this one.
The narrator for this audiobook was enjoyable to listen to and kept me engaged throughout.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book should be a movie!! Lots of action packed! Kept you on the edge of your seat
What would you do if your your wife died in a car crash? What would you do if, after a year later, her boss that died in the car crash with your wife, you suddenly heard his voice and a catchphrase that only he used to say Would you ignore it? Do you need closure? Are you imagining things? Or do you think there's more to find out about the day your wife died
Maxwell Harding billionaire has been killed in a firey car crash. Alongside him, Alison Cane, wife of Cameron Cane, a photographer and journalist. What was she doing with Maxwell. Maxwell was already wearing an ankle bracelet due to fraud within his company. He was her boss, yes, but at this point, he was already being investigated. Cameron misses his wife, and with the anniversary of the death approaching fast, perhaps he is just putting too much effort into what happened that day inside that car before it crashed and then burned
Overall, I did enjoy this audiobook, but there were parts that lacked me. The beginning started off great. It was a bit slower paced but set us up for the plot. The build-up was informative and really got you interested, and then things took a turn.
Once we reached that point about halfway through, the paced really picked up, and it was nothing but action. This made for the pacing to feel a bit uneven. The first half of the book contained no language, but once the action started, so did the language. The many characters also tended to get confusing as there was so much going on, making it a bit hard to keep up.
I really liked the narrator and thought he was a perfect pairing for this story. I will be on the lookout for this narrator in the future as I enjoyed his voice. Thank you, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen and review this advanced copy.
A fiery car crash had taken Alison away from her loving husband and young daughter, Sabrina. A year later Cam hasn’t moved on or forgotten their life before. A chance brush at an airport terminal with a hurried passenger sets off a series of increasingly irrational and suspicious events. Cam suddenly questions the likelihood and the circumstances of Alison’s death. His brother along with his associates believe he’s still in denial or just plain crazy. The beginning of the book describes Cam’s and Sabrina’s struggles in the year since Alison’s death. It was sort of drawn out with domestic drama for me. Alison was a math genius and I found her character fascinating and interesting. Cam is on a wild goose chase, seeing ghosts and poking into a hornets nest. He has missed so much work he should be fired. He is also entrusting his young daughter to a woman, Marika, he just recently met. He is convinced he’s right and pursues all parts of the accident investigation to prove himself. He’s very clever, he finds new information, holes in the records and possible new theories. The ending is tied up nicely with nail biting suspense and tension filled scenes unfolding. There were good clues if you pay attention. I made myself a note of my initial suspect at less than fifteen percent into the story. Yes, I’d already guessed a part of the plot. This was a new-to-me author with an engaging plot. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital advance reader copy of “Beyond All Doubt” by Hilton Reed, Published by Crooked Lane Books. These are all my own honest personal thoughts and opinions given voluntarily without any compensation.
Adrenaline-packed thrill ride from first page till last ~ Couldn’t put it down.
What I liked: * Cameron Kane: widow, raising seven year old daughter, photographer, photo licensing job, trying to move on though still grieving his wife Alison, sees someone that makes him question whether or not his wife is really dead and starts to investigate, tenacious, loves his wife and daughterr * Alison Kane: brilliant, math prodigy, died in a fiery car crash, loving wife and mother, worked for a bit-coin billionaire, intriguing * Sabrina Kane: seven-year-old daughter of Cameron and Alison, typical little girl, misses her mother * Elliott Kane: Cameron’s brother, supportive, caring, there for Cameron and his family. * Mickey Donovan: private investigator who takes Cameron’s case to research Alison’s death, ex-military and ex-police detective, intelligent, good at his job * Zemira Moon: retired special forces who works with Mickey Donovan, lethal, protective, someone I’d want on my side and not against me * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * Wondering if perhaps Zemira Moon might have a book of his own in the future * The conclusion and how everything turned out.
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * Thinking about how greed and its impact on more than one in this book * Wondering how some people can be as amoral as more than one in this story
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more by this author? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane for the ARC – This is my honest review.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher (Dreamscape) for this eARC.
I received this in audiobook for review, and the narration was excellent, like listening to an exciting movie.
The story itself was intelligent, interesting, and imaginative,. The novel begins as a man and his daughter struggle with the loss of his wife and her mother, a year after the woman died in a fiery car inferno.
However, things aren't always what they seem in the world of psychological fiction, and this mystery has more than its share of jaw-dropping moments.
I enjoyed the relationships of the different characters and the plot was fresh, clever, and extremely enjoyable.
Not to say there is a low body count on this one, but it isn't particularly gory, and I couldn't put it down.
Should have a wide appeal to readers who enjoy writers such as Linwood Barclay, and also readers who enjoy conspiracy thrillers.
Additionally, it provides interesting information regarding information regarding subjects ranging from Bitcoin to the best way to cause pain but not death with a gunshot.
Fans of spy and military thrillers might also enjoy this one!
It has been almost a year since Cameron Kane lost his wife in a fiery car crash. His wife was a math genius who was working at a crypto currency company when she and the owner of the company died in the owners Lamborghini the crash was so hot almost melted the car. The mystery for Cameron was why was she in that car, with all the late nights was she having an affair? How could that be when it was love at first sight for Cameron. Even with the nagging questions life has started to get to a semblance of normal for Cameron and his seven-year-old daughter. But on his way back from a business trip he sees what looks like his wife's boss the one who died in the car crash. The guy mentions a phrase that came from a flop of a play that almost no one would know. The plot thickens when he gets a message with a secret nickname that only his knows. This story really keeps your attention but only to a little more than halfway through. As it starts to unfold it gets all over place and just becomes too much to believe. Yes, I know it is a work of fiction, but the story just did not finish well in my opinion. Give it a read and see what you think.
This was a good story, from a great premise that didn’t deliver as well as it could have done, but was enjoyable, nevertheless.
Cameron Kane’s wife died in a car accident with a colleague a year earlier, so when Cameron sees that same colleague at an airport, he challenges everything he believed to be true. The book started off brilliantly, but the pacing was a bit off in places and there were so many characters involved, it became quite confusing. I would have preferred less characters and better development of those that were really key to the story. A great ending though with some gripping tension.
I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by George Newbern. I did find the narration to be quite robotic with an AI feel, so a different, more natural narrator would have perhaps made the book more enjoyable for me.
3 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Hilton Reed and Dreamscape for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Hilton Reed's BEYOND ALL DOUBT is a twisty action suspense about a grieving widower who believes there are dark secrets behind his wife's death and begins a dangerous search.
How far will some go to keep their secrets buried?
Cameron Kane's wife, Alison, died in a car crash fire about a year ago, and he grieves while trying to raise his seven-year-old daughter, Sabrina. He attempts to get on with his life and dating someone new.
However, he sees someone, something that makes him second-guess that his wife is dead.
She was supposedly in a Lamborghini with Maxwell Harding, a wealthy white-collar criminal, but they were sure they died in the horrific accident.
This man resembles Maxwell—the man who was pronounced dead beyond all doubt more than a year ago.
Could his wife still be alive, and was this just a set-up for Cameron to escape his crimes? If so, where is she? Cameron hires a private detective and learns there is more to the story.
Can he trust the woman he is dating, or is she part of a setup? Is this a devious scheme, and are he, his wife, and his daughter collateral damage?
His doubt sends him down a rabbit hole as he begins questioning everything and everyone in this life. He slowly unravels dangerous secrets, lies, and betrayals, and he must solve this mystery, putting himself in harm's way in the process.
BEYOND ALL DOUBT is a fast-paced thriller with action and suspense.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by the talented George Newbern, who made the characters come alive.
While I enjoyed the audio, the story lacked some depth, had too many characters, and was missing something that made it unputdownable. It was very slow in the middle and faster near the end. It was not a favorite.
Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an ALC for an honest opinion.

Cameron Kane & daughter are dealing with the loss of wife/mother Allison who died in a car crash with her boss Maxwell approx. a year ago. Cam is on his way back from a job interview in CA when he thinks he sees the "dead" Maxwell in the terminal upon arriving home.
Billionaire Maxwell was being investigated by the Feds and Allison was helping. As a few strange texts/calls come to his phone, Cam decides something isn't right and hires a PI to delve into the deaths. As they dig deeper, bodies begin to fall and the truth slowly comes to light but not without Cam dodging bullets.
A thrill on every page! Whether Cameron Kane is cherishing his daughter after losing his wife in a horrific car crash or is rebuffing the attention of a beautiful lady, he certainly is on the right track of not believing everything he’s been told after a chance sighting in a busy airport. Twists upon twists make this a fast-paced, exciting thriller! Great for fans of action, adventure and uncertainty.
Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Thank you Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for an early copy. This review is my opinion. What would you do if someone bumped in to you at a busy airport and you knew he was dead? In fact, he was killed in a fiery car crash that also killed your wife. This innocuous bump starts Cameron Kane on a quest to find out what really happened to his wife. False identities and billions of dollars are on the line in this fast, action packed and thoroughly enjoyed book.
This was really enjoyable and an easy listen. The first half was a bit slow setting you up for the remainder which is all go. Yes I didn't really understand the mechanics of cyber and prime numbers but it worked regardless for me I have more of an understanding now though. I liked the narration. It kept me really interested.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is one of my favorites, he has a soothing voice that seems calm and reassuring even in chaos. Perfect for this book! I loved the storyline and the pacing of the book. I looked for more written by this author and discovered it is his debut novel! He has a great writing style that held my interest throughout while still letting me feel like I truly knew the characters. Highly recommend and I will definitely read more by this author in the future!
I'm sorry to do this, but I didn't like this book at all. I'm not sure how to describe it other than the fact it was just too... Masculine (for me!). Everything was boom boom, zoom zoom. I kinda expected Vin Diesel or Jason Statham to pop up.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! This was a great thriller with so much thought put into it. I was hooked from the beginning and could not put it down. I loved the plot and the characters. I hoped that Cameron would find out that his wife’s death had been staged and loved the ending.
A chance encounter in the airport led to the resolution of Cameron's heartache - with a ton of heartache along the way! I didn't see that twist coming but so happy that it did! I would love to read more of Cameron and his family! This was my 1st book by Hilton Reed but will not be my last, I am adding all of his books to my TBR!
Beyond All Doubt has plenty of thrills—deadly snipers, false identities, shocking deaths—but at its heart, this book is about a grieving single father whose desperation propels the plot like a speeding car with its brake lines cut.
3.5 Borrowed this from Mom (library book). Fast paced, pretty predictable, and far fetched, but still fun. A bit unbelievable that a father would trust his young daughter with a woman he had been seeing/ not even dating for only 3 wks. And who was killed in the car crash fire?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
An interesting read. I liked Cameron’s interaction with Sabrina. I was immediately suspicious of Marika and how pushy she was. The subterfuge parts were a bit cheesy at times. Thanks to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for the early copy.
Really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. Although the plot was pretty far fetched, it kept me listening. The narration on the audibook was good, well performed and fit the story well.
