Obviously at some point the Green Goblin was going to revert back to his core self
I'm still looking for the ultimate Spidey/Goblin revenge story...and this wasn't it.

Well, Zeb Wells sure does suck, eh? Yet more Ben Reilly, yet more Rek-Rap, yet more "god" mentions....and the Green Goblin merges with Spidey. Right No. Enough. please.

This is how Spider-Man is done!
The basic premise of the story intertwines the fates of Peter Parker and Norman Osborn. Recently freed from his sins and then given them back, Norman has a secret inside... the Green Goblin "spirit" still exists inside him. And with the previous story about the spear that "removed" the spirit from him, combined with Spider-Man's role in it, a small piece of the "spirit" was left inside Peter. When Norman loses control of the Goblin inside, he wakes Peter, making him into Green Spider-Goblin (my name, not official). Spider-Goblin gets turned loose on the Sinister Six and easily takes them all down.
At the end, it is Peter's triumphant will that overcomes the "spirit", saves Norman, and lets the Goblin spirit fade into nothingness.
Is that the last we will see of Green Goblin? No way! Marvel will find a way to bring it back.
But... what about Norman putting most of Oscorp in Peter's name? Will that hold up?

Excellent read. Definitely seeing what happens next. Zeb Wells is earning his place in the great writers of Spider-Man Hall of Fame.

What a satisfying and distinctly Spider-Man ending to the whole Sin Saga. While I haven't always loved the details or ideas that informed it, I can honestly say that it all came together nicely in the end and, as occasionally happens, reminded me of why I have loved the character of Peter Parker for more than 40 years.

Odd. Confusing. Cliche. And Melodramatic. All at the same time.

Enough with the sins and the magical soul spear...or whatever was happening.

This was a wild read and I loved it, it gets crazy from the beginning with Spider-man having to see the return of Green Goblin and how insane it becomes and then the thing with getting infected again and becoming Spider-Goblin, fighting the sinister six and the return of Chasm and whatever plans Norman has and you see another group led by the brain to fight against him, and its good to see the return of Ms Marvel to the book yet again!

I love how she is written in the book and that she has becoming an important supporting cast member of Pete's world and its awesome and you see her wanting to rescue her mentor/friend and its a cool thing plus having to face Kraven all by herself now that was a badass moment!

But the final fight between Spider-man and Green Goblin and what the Goblin's plan is.. yeah it gets very Superior Spidey types but oh well the title of this volume is "Going Green" so it made sense I guess but it did lead to some wild fight scene and how it ends was expected but it will be fun to see will Pete trust Norman again? And is this last of GG that we have seen? Well its comics so probably not.

But well despite that this volume was okayish and had some good moments and there have been so man GG vs SM stories and this is one of the better ones I guess, and well the art was the defining factor here, it was amazing, especially those Spider-Goblin scenes or when he is riding the Goblin board! So definitely do read it once as its the penultimate volume of this run!

"DOCTOR JEKYLL WAS HECKLED BY PETER'S PRIDE... SO HE FED THE BOY TO MR. HYDE."
- Green Goblin to Spider-Man.

"REK-RAP? ARE YOU OKAY"
"OH, YEAH... JUST STABBED THROUGH THE HEART... LUCKILY, I HAVE MORE!"
"ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?"
"ABSOLUTELY NOT!"
- Doctor Connors and Rek-Rap doing the one barely funny bit of the entire book.

Green Goblin has been stringing Peter along the whole time. Finally! The "good" Norman was starting to bore me. So it's no spoiler that you didn't already see on the cover. Gobby "jokerizes" Spidey ('goblinizes?"). You might think Peter trippin' on goblin juice and bath salts could be used for comedic effect. Not so much. I've been trying to give Zeb Wells a chance, but it seems he's plum out of ideas.
And Rek-Rap... Seriously? Wasn't he permanently deleted with all the other bad ideas? When will Wells stop writing while sick with a fever?
The main story gets two stars, but the collection of short stories in the back, which were mostly excellent, gets an additional star. So, three stars.

Nick Lowe keeps hyping up these big Spider-Man stories, and they're always so bad.

This volume starts out okay, with Spider-Man learning that Norman Osborn is once again, the Green Goblin. Not only that, but Osborn had sabotaged the Winkler device and has now turned Peter into a Goblin as well. Not a bad set up. Unfortunately it goes downhill from there.

Luckily, Ben Reilly (who is suddenly a hero again) can now secrete psycho-active goo! Which can not only heal Peter, but also change his costume back as well!

But no! Norman's sins are actually a ghost that can possess people! His sins decide to leave Norman and go to Peter. Spider-Goblin is back! Then the sins go back to Norman. Then Peter fights the disembodied sins-ghost!

All this, and the return of Rek-Rap!

Ridiculous story.

It's hard after all these years to tell a Green Goblin story that hasn't been told before; this penultimate arc of Zeb Wells' Amazing Spider-Man run does a pretty good job of it though. We've had Peter be brainwashed by the Goblin before, but there's a twist to things here that brings him into conflict with his friends and his foes all while operating as a Goblin himself, tugging on strings that Wells has been laying since the first few arcs of his run.

It's not a totally flawless execution, and it's a shame that the art had to be shared between Todd Nauck and Ed McGuinness (even if they're both great, their styles don't really work together), but this is easily one of the better arcs of Wells' Spider-Man, and this would have been a great place to end as he had intended before agreeing to stick around for one last arc.

FINALLY, it's the end of the 'Sins of Norman Osborn LIVE' bit...

They've danced around it for awhile now. The Goblin used to be classified as a D.I.D., but now it's ...upgraded to a supernatural entity. All the good and bad parts of Wells writing have come back to cap off this bit. (Luckily, we're well past the 'Queen Goblin' holding the Sins)

The Living Brain breaks free...
Spider-Goblin 2.0 makes an appearance...
Ms. Marvel comes back to remind us she worked at Oscorp...
Doc Ock's old tentacles lend some hands...
Chasm has some dreams and decides to go hero on Spider-Goblin...
-----
Bonus: Apparently, full 'Sins' possession can change your costume immediately??
Bonus Bonus: Since when does Chasm EXCRETE that psycho-active goo he fell into??

As much as it was nice having Norman on the side of angels, this confrontation has been inevitable for the entire Wells run. It's a great continuation of the sineater arc that I believe was actually in the previous run and also nicely dovetails most of the major elements from Wells' run (with the exception of the awful MJ/Paul elements). Pretty good even if the last issue does get a little decompressed in its fighting. It would have been a worthy end to the run, so we'll have to see what he does for his encore.

Pretty decent book. I have not read any of the other volumes of this series, and I think that lead to me being a little confused at times and unaware of what things meant or what had previously happened.
But regardless, it was still a fairly enjoyable Green Goblin story with decent artwork and good dialogue. I actually quite liked the design of the Spidey/Green Goblin hybrid.
The book finishes off with some short stories also, one featuring Black Cat.
Would recommend to a Green Goblin or Spidey fan.

Zeb Wells' run has run out of gas. Creatively speaking, he's spinning his wheels with retreads. Another Green Goblin epic, another take on Superior Spider-Man, albeit with Norman Osborn this time. A splash of Kraven's Last Hunt. It's all so self-referential that it's less a story and more of a footnote historian exercise. It's impenetrable to a new reader, if any exist.

Spider-Man is my favorite character, but not like this. Not like this.

At this point the Green Goblin has turned into the Joker of Marvel comics. Just a completely overused character that needs to stay gone for a long, long time. Making him a separate supernatural entity is just stupid. That being said, this wasn't all that bad. It's drawn out and I want all the supernatural stuff out of Spider-Man unless he's helping Doctor Strange, but given what's come before, this at least made sense.

So just an FYI here: Don’t read this (Volume 11) immediately after reading Volume 10. Read Spider-Man: Blood Hunt in between them. Goodreads doesn’t have the Blood Hunt event as part of this series but it definitely is.

Other than that, it’s a great comic with great art, huge moments and somehow, after 60+ years of stories, something new happening between Peter Parker and Norman Osborn, plus the sinister six and Ben Reilly.

not sure how the Michele date lines up witht he Sins, I thought the date and them meeting st the wedding was well after the Sins arc but I could definitely be wrong. it would be nice to give Peter the betty/veronica (gwen/mj) drama again using Michele and Shay.

revealed that Norman has some if not all his Sins back. transfers some to Peter. this was inevitable, you love to see it happen (not the Peter bit)

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: GOING GREEN is the finale (?) of the whole "Norman Osborn's sins" arc that has been going since the Spencer run. I have to say that I really enjoyed the way that we finally deal with the Green Goblin for good (yeah right). I also give it a lot of credit for actually giving Kamala Khan to do.

I really enjoyed this. Lots of disparate plot threads planted throughout Wells' run all coming together in a pretty satisfying, complex story. It's not perfect, but it's about as good as this book has been for some time.

The costume might be silly, but it is a great Green Goblin story. So much has been done with this villain that it can be tricky to come up with new plots, and I appreciate the risk Wells took here. I felt the big menace. McGuinness delivered some awesome panels here.
