Superior Spider-Island is at least better than the original Spider-Island event, which is a must-not-read, and so bad I just noticed I didn't submit a review of it! Anyhows, back to this second volume of Superior, Dan Slott ands Mark Bagley continue to buck the trend of weak Marvel work with their continuing and convincing character development of Doctor Octopus as he funds himself straddling the fence between doing good and doing bad again! A Three Star, 6 out of 12 read.

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. Perhaps it’s because I’m a sucker for Mark Bagley drawing Spidey (although this was not his best work; some of the faces were distinctly wonky).

Here’s hoping the ‘Superior’ Spider-Man has been put to bed for good, now. (Some hope…)

​​Анонсу нового тому Суперіора я зрадів, все-таки я дуже люблю цього персонажа і саме Слотт був тим хто змусив мене полюбити 616-го Октвіуса. Цього тижня вийшов останній номер серії, тож давайте дізнаємося чи вдалося Слотту з Ґейджем відтворити ту магію яка була в двох минулих томах.

Сюжет серії відбувається одразу після кінцівки ван-шоту "Superior Spider-Man Returns". Супернова знаходить Павука, який в цей час тусив з Павучим Пацанятком і влаштовує погром у місті намагаючись йому помститися за те, що зробив Октавіус поки мав його тіло. Паркеру вдається сховатися, але Естрелла бере в заручники Марконі, в результаті чого Пітеру доводиться об'єднатися з Отто, який під час погрому на вулиці побачив як Пітер знімає костюм Павука, що спровокувало повернення спогадів про його час проведений в тілі Паркера. У серії є всього два сюжети, причому другий досить неочікувано з'являється і вривається в перший.

Взагалі у цієї серії є одним величезний слон в кімнаті якого дуже складно ігнорувати. Суть у тому, що це більше продовження минулої серії Слотта про Павука ніж повністю інша серія. Що не є чимось поганим, все-таки нам казали, що щось з тієї серії перейде в цю, однак, як би це сказати, тут немає Неперевершеного Павука в тому вигляді в якому ми очікуємо від коміксу з такою назвою. Ця серія це по суті тім-ап Отто з Пітером, в якому другий розгулює в костюмі першого.

І знаєте, я би міг якось знайти пояснення цьому і згадати кінцівку першого тому, міг би написати, що мені сподобалося в серії та про свій захват від неї, написати про малюнок Баґлі та ляп який він зробив в одному з номерів, але… це все немає значення. Все що я написав вище немає значення. Уся ця серія немає значення.

Читаючи цю серію я все думав чи відіб'ється якось на основній серії те, що Октавіус тепер знає особистість Павука? І я отримав відповідь на це питання, на останніх трьох сторінках серії у Отто вилазить амнезія через те, що він зробив у останньому номері. І він забуває і про те, що Пітер є Людиною Павуком, і про те, що він був Неперевершеним Павуком, і про те хто така Анна Марія та їх стосунки. Це 3 з 3, просто блять як, як можна було тричі обісратися з кінцівками серій Суперіора. І я розумію, що статус кво і вся хуйня, все-таки не перший рік читаю комікси. Однак блять, ну знав би Отто особистість Пітера і що з того? У того ж Бетмена половина галереї лиходіїв знає, що в костюмі кажана бігає Брюс Вейн і нічого. Не зроби ви муву з амнезією вам би не довелося вкотре викидати в смітник історію Октавіуса й робити срані натяки, що "Може у ньому все ще є щось хороше"  і я би хвалив цю серію, відмічаючи, що фінальну конфронтацію можна було б трохи кращою зробити, але хвалив би й радив.

В результаті, третій том Суперіор Людини Павука це той випадок коли кінцівка просто вбиває усі хороші враження від коміксу. І я сподіваюся, що більше цей концепт не чіпатимуть оскільки вчетверте мені розчаровуватися не хочеться.

They knew this run would never be as good as the original, so they wanted to finish up this "Superior" idea and lock it down with this Volume. I feel like they did a good job wrapping things up.
With Ock and Peter working together, they are able to capture Supernova, but Ock immediately turns to using her as a power source. Supernova's power + Ock's control helmet + Spider-Boy's ability to communicate with spiders = Ock trying to take over the world ALA Superior Spider-Island. Only his love for Anna Maria is able to stop him, and his desire for it never to happen again (because he hurt her) lead him to erase his relationship and all of his "Superior Spider-Man" memories. Doctor Octopus is back to the villain he always was.
Order restored... for now... but what of Spider-Boy... he's still kind of a loose end.
oh well...

This is one is pretty good. Maybe read both Volumes back to back for a complete story.

Uma das práticas da Panini Comics Brasil que eu não gosto é a forma como enchem linguiça de uma edição enchendo de capas variantes. São mais de doze páginas deste encadernado do Aranha Superior com capas variantes apenas. Em vez de termos curiosidades, interação com os leitores, testes, infográficos, textos de bastidores com os autores, o que temos são as preguiçosas capas variantes para tirar mais dinheiro do leitor. Ler esse encadernado é retornar um pouco na época da NOVA Marvel! em que a série do Aranha era uma das melhores da Casa das Ideias, graças às ideias de Dan Slott. Aqui ele traz um pouco dessa verve, mas se perde um pouco ao estabelecer que a ilha inteira de Manhattan fique com os padrões mentais do Doutor Octopus, aquele que acha todo mundo medíocre. Ele também chama todos de parvos, e somente o Doutor Octopus tem a razão sempre, nunca dá o braço a torcer. Lembrando muitos homens por aí que se acham os donos da verdade e do conhecimento. Fora essa crítica que me fez lembrar algumas pessoas, e a infinidade de capas variantes, o gibi é uma diversão morna.

And so we come full circle. Dan Slott brings his Superior Spider-Man saga to a close for good this time, putting all his toys back in the box while having some great fun along the way with body swapping, Spider-Boy, leftover plot points from his last series, Anna Maria being a BAMF, and some lovely art from Mark Bagley.

I was skeptical when Marvel said they were bringing Superior Spider-Man back, but honestly, this has been a fun series. It's a shame that there wasn't a way for it to end slightly differently, but I appreciate that Slott came back to do this rather than letting anyone else do it for him.

The first volume of this felt like it was running on fumes, and the second is worse. But then I only had it in the first place because it felt weird going to London's best library for comics and leaving without any, even on the rare occasion they hadn't had a re-up. On the upside, it engaged sufficiently little of my brain that reading it was the perfect opportunity to give the new Half Man Half Biscuit album a spin, and that's cracking.

Meh.

The end of a 'Superior' story that got to include Spider-Boy AND blend elements of Spider-Island, Superior Spider-Man, and Otto's Ocktoid (goopey green) tentacles.

It's a bit much, and not in the best ways. Feels like a factory reset that wipes out any need or way to revisit this 'Otto in Peter' idea.

RIP, Superior Spider-Man. You had a chance at a youthful body and amazingness....you keep choosing bowl cut, goggles, and middle-age paunch.

A fun finish to Doc Ock’s mind swapping saga. There’s a lot crammed into four issues, so it’s a shame this run couldn’t have lasted ten issues instead of eight - could have even had that therapy that Peter says he needs!

I’ll miss Otto being Superior (ten years of fun character development) but at least there’s still Spider-Man Octo-Girl!

I guess this is the end of the "Superior" Spider-Man stuff? (at least until someone gets another money-making idea) It wasn't terrible, but kind of a slight story overall. But, hey, we did get Superior Spider-Boy for a couple of issues.

I thought this volume was a lot of fun. The humor worked for me. Although some of the plot elements were a bit kooky, it didn't bother me because the tone was pure "classic Spider-Man." So says this lifelong Spider-Man fan.

Dan Slott ends this iteration of Superior Spider-Man and it's fine. It's not bad, but not as good as the first go around either. I do like that Otto gets reset to just back to normal Spider-Man villain again.
