--

EN This book started off a bit weak, with a rather underwhelming story featuring Jubilee.

Fortunately, things picked up afterward, with Magik, Psylocke, and Wolverine (Laura) starring in much more enjoyable stories, all backed by solid artwork.

Of course, being side-stories, they’re never particularly impactful — but overall, it still makes for a pretty enjoyable read.

I have to say I loved this book. I missed this. After the X-MEN acting like hippies on their island for so long. I miss the violence.

Jubilee is on a mission to save as many people as she can. With her history as a vampire, she has a soft spot for new vampires and some old friends to sort out rest.

A childhood fairytale and a new hunt is on for Magik. These vampires have no idea who they are messing with.

Psylocke is on vacation with Greycrow when the lights go out and not in a romantic way. These two must protect the people of Japan from a host of Japanese legendary monsters. Separating Betsy and Kwannon (keeping Kwannon as Psylocke) was the best decision of the recent X-MEN books.

Laura (Wolverine) Kinney must save her sister and someone else whether she wants to or not. This is a slasher movie with the vampires as the victims.

The main event Logan (Wolverine) is the target. Almost every vampire is out to get him. Old friends change, and a call back to a character I am glad to see return from earlier in this Wolverine series.

The word of this book is violence!! It does not disappoint. If the vampires thought they were the top of the food chain, the apex predators, or even the hunters, they are wrong!!! The book finishes with a varient covers gallery.

The Wolverine four-parter that makes up half of this book is actually pretty good. It has really nice artwork and it’s a lot of fun with wall-to-wall action. If this story was the whole book, I’d’ve given it four stars.

The other half of the book is comprised of four one-shots featuring Jubilee, Magik, Psylocke (Kwannon, not Betsy) and Greycrow (not-allowed-to-call-him-Scalphunter-anymore) and Wolverine (the other one; young-clone Laura, not old-clone Laura) and Scout (still hate that name; what was wrong with Honey Badger?) and these stories just weren’t as good. Drags the score down, unfortunately.

3.25 stars, rounded down.

3.5 Stars. Some hit, some miss. All fighting vamps connected to the Blood Hunt event.
Highlights:
- Jubilee teams up with Ghost Blade and the Forgiven, a group of vampires who have learned to control their bloodlust. She is able to save a lady right after she turns.
- Magik goes solo fighting vamps in Siberia. They never knew what hit them...
- Psylocke and John Greycrow fight vampires, oni, and yokai in Japan. Vibrant colors and tons of action.
- Laura saves Gabby from sewer vamps, but had to deal with ones who have sampled her blood and have healing factors
- Logan, doing the best as he does, teams up with Nightguard to take down Maverick and his vampire lady. Has to even become one briefly to gain an advantage.

Overall a fun tie-in to Blood Hunt, but less necessary to move on to other X-Books than I thought it would be. Recommend.

you had me at psylocke vs vampires

I preferred the one shots of my favourite X ladies than the wolverine 4 parter, which was clunkily written (eg walls of exposition shoved into short action panels). however, the aqueous vamps were fantastically designed and Louise was a great side character.

This surprised me. An excellent tie-in miniseries. Loosely connected. Told it's own little story, which was just good old fashioned Wolverine fun.

There were some neat entries into this collection, none that really tied to the overarching story, but neat to see this little pocket of the universe and the impact the Blood Hunt had.
First of, we have Jubilee, former vampire...this was a fun story, and well told. I never got lesbian vibes from Jubilee before (not current on my readings though), but this one definitely strayed into that territory, which is an interesting take on the character. All said, good art, good pacing for the story, and interesting characters.
Next up is Magik, a personal favorite character. What I liked most about this story is that she slays without much effort, and just goes on about her life. Great character, doesn't take flack from anyone, decent artwork.
Then, we have Psylocke's story. I wasn't a fan of her/Greycrow's relationship, as it seems forced, and I know he has turned a new leaf, but I still prefer him as a villain. That said, the Japanese influence in this story is really cool and harkens back to some great anime. Cool monsters, great artwork, and just a kick-butt story!
Next is a Wolverine (X-23) story with Scout. This story was a bit weird, didn't love it.
Finally, we have Logan... His colleague makes this story, though. Her kick-butt attitude, cool weaponry, and battle skills make the story. The Maverick plot felt weak, and although it was the main plot device, it was only okay. The action was top-notch throughout, though. Great art!

The variant covers were a nice touch, but the Peach covers were stunning!

This was a great collection, and a nice side story that has little to do with the main story (in that, it has no real impact on the plot). However, it was great and fun to read!

Not to be left out of the 'Blood Hunt' crossover, this collection holds the 'Wolverine: Blood Hunt' miniseries along with the 'X-Men: Blood Hunt' one shots.

It's...something...

Wolverine goes toe to toe with Maverick in his miniseries. He even gets an assist by Nightguard (another vampire hunter turned vampire). As for the others, they're kind of up and down. Not necessarily helping the overall plot of 'Blood Hunt' itself, but when you've got close to 60 issues connected to your main story...it'll give you a sense of what your favorites are up to.

- Laura Kinney: Wolverine (Too) goes searching for Honey Badger and the connection of mutant blood to superpowered vampires..
- Psylocke and Greycrow: They're in Japan, fighting supernatural things in an anime styled issue
- Jubilee: Teams up with 'The Forgiven' (the group that helped save her when she was a vamp)
- Magik: Goes back to Russia and (mostly incognito) saves some children from rampaging vampire clans

The X-Men join the Blood Hunt across the Marvel Universe, to various degrees of success.

We open with a handful of one-shots, focusing on Magik, Psylocke, Jubilee, and Laura Kinney. The Jubilee story brings back the Forgiven, while Laura's story pulls in Xarus, Dracula's son, which are some nice deep pulls. The stories themselves are fairly rudementary, but they're not bad. The Magik story is a little bland, while the Psylocke one is more about a group of Japanese demons than actual vampires.

Then there's the four issue Wolverine mini-series, tugging on some plot threads from the beginning of Benjamin Percy's solo run on the book. It's a little too long, and rehashes the same points a few times - we could probably have cut this down to three issues like most of the other Blood Hunt books. The art's solid though - Ryp is always great at horrible bloodshed.

Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Honestly, probably one of the better Blood Hunt volumes thanks to some solid art from Balám and Ryp. The Wolverine arch is fine, entirely standalone, and I like that they brought back Louise and Maverick so at least it felt like an extension of some previous content from the last few years. Same with Jubilee. The Laura and Kwannon stories were meh (Greycrow running around with a Colonial Marines pulse rifle was silly), but Magik always feels like a fun alternative to any Logan stories — she’s a predator out hunting, but never as dour as Wolverine. I thought this might do a bit of work at the end of the Krakoan Age to tie up some loose ends, but alas it’s pretty standard filler content for a crossover event.

The Wolverine 4-parter is the heart of this, and it's pretty decent mainly because it feels like a straight-up continuation of the Krakoa Wolverine series, carrying over characters, art style, and a general feeling. Maybe the story doesn't have any actual repercussions, but nonetheless it's a nice part of a greater whole.

The one-offs are weaker, though the best of them are good character studies, starting with the Jubilee story, which builds on her past as a vampire. In decreasing order of interest: The Laura story is good mainly for her relationship with her sister; the Illyana story has nice Russian background; and the Psylocke story is 100% forgettable.

It started as a fun collection of different X-Men stories during the blood hunt storyline. Some were good, some were not my taste but still fun. Magic was really good, psylocke was great, lady wolverine was good, Jubilee was meh. The problem for me was the wolverine run which was the longest part of this book and ultimately why Im giving this just threw stars instead of higher. Those issues deserve 1-2 stars and there are 4 of them (half the book). The are is ugly, the dialogue is choppy, and the story could have been better executed. It felt like someone had a good idea for the overall plot and someone else just filled space to force story to get through it.

I really didn't like the first four one-issue stories of this collected edition. None of these were particularly intriguing or interesting, and the art didn't bring much to the table either.

Wolverine's four-issue arc was barely better, with at least one good aurprise: its artist, Juan José Ryp. Even though he isn't very consistant with his artwork, I quite liked his style, reminiscent of Swolfs'. While the story was completely forgettable, there was at least one moment that made me grin. Is it enough to make a good comic book? No, Sir. Blood Hunt ended up being a very shallow "crossover" that I will soon forget about.

Mixed bag of Blood Hunt stories that I am not really up to speed on, I read a few of them I think. Anyways we get 3 short stories each with a character and then a full run of Wolverine. The short stories are OK at best, least favorite is Jubilee, than Magik, and the best is Psylocke. The Wolverine main story is pretty good following the trail of Maverick and vampires. I liked the characters and Louise was a good addition, her story is good enough. The whole vampires invade isnt really my thing but I liked the setting in So Cal for sure. It was decently written and the best of the book.

The sun has gone dark and Vampires emerge to fill the power void.

For the most part I really enjoyed this tpb collection. I'm a casual reader, but the stories gave me enough context to pick up the characters and situations.

The cast is small but this allows more time for character development. I understand there is a main plotline I'm not up to speed on and these are mini arcs to show what some of the characters are up to.

It's tonally dark and violent - classic blade in tone and execution.

Kind of a mixed bag of one-shot Blood Hunt stories, with various of the X-Men involved. Plus, for some reason, Wolverine himself gets four issues to tell a story that could have easily been relayed in three or even two. The art there is very strong, though--Juan Jose Ryp. But the journey to find Maverick and fight off various vampire armies along the way gets pretty repetitive after awhile, not unlike a video game. Nothing here is really essential, unless you're a Blood Hunt completist...

I enjoyed these expansions to the Blood Hunt event though I would not call them mandatory reading. These stories feel more tailored for preexisting fans of these characters who also like Marvel’s approach to vampires.

Dealing with vampires from all angles. Cured vampires try to give them a chance. Magic users infiltrate and destroy a colony. Psychics take care of Japanese urban legends. Vampire seductress tries to recruit Wolverine.

Wolverine’s issues collected in this volume are by far the best part of this! The few issues that come first are okay, but the Wolverine run is Logan at his best, an intriguing story, and overall a great experience!

An enjoyable read that offers little in the way of character definition or development, and feels inessential and inconsequential to the main event. Even so, the art and colours are impressive, and the action suitably bloody and dynamic. You could do worse as far as tie-ins go.

A bunch of stories of mutants fighting vampires. Nothing egregious but also not really worth your time either as these are all your standard stuff that can be skipped from the big nothing event.
