EN As if I didn't already have enough things I enjoy reading, I decided to dive into the Predator/Aliens universe in comics — I’ve always loved this universe in the movies and just can’t get enough of it.
Comics offer a way to explore these worlds in ways the films don’t, and that’s exactly what’s done here.
Honestly, for my first comic from this universe, it was pretty solid. I genuinely enjoyed it. So much so that if I had the next one, I’d pick it up right away. A great first contact — here’s hoping the next ones keep up the momentum!

The next instalment in Ed Brisson’s Predator tale. It was OK; fairly predictable, to be honest. It’s been so long since I read any Dark Horse Predator books, I didn’t even recognise the returning character which served as the surprise ending to issue one.
The fact that there was a fill-in artist for issue three hurt the look of the book.
A good brutal, finally. Good artwork, an okay story, a nostalgic surprise, and plenty of brutality.
Theta has been hunting the Predators, making the hunters into the hunted. However, they are called Predators for a reason. They will not accept the new status quo. Theta is about to face the most dangerous Predator yet.
This is a brutal blood bath of a series finale, or is it? Could this series have more to offer? Whatever happens next, I can't wait to see it. The book finishes with a varient covers gallery.
I really wanted "The Last Hunt" to be a fulfilling conclusion to Brisson's take on the Predator, but alas, that was not to be the result here. Don't misunderstand me, The Last Hunt™ isn't terrible by any means, but it could have been so much better, especially considering that Brisson's first entry into the series was so good. Instead, this 4 issue arc to close out the original run is really more of a mediocre bow out than a thrilling ending. The Story is ok with Theta trying to figure out the Predator's new hunting schemes, as well as the origin of the stasis pods that transport humans to the hunting grounds, however that's not even really answered. Either I wasn't paying enough attention or Brisson never truly had an explanation. Regardless there are still more questions than answers and I don't Know if we will ever get to see them. The art is also ok most of the way through but, as seems to be the case far too frequently these days the original artist, Manna, is replaced for the final issue and while an attempt is made to replicate Manna's original style, though it's clearly not the same and it's jarring to say the least.
Marvel's Latest Predator Series: Fun, But Falls Short I've been following the final Predator solo series from Marvel, and while it's fun, it leans a bit too heavily into being dumb.
I really enjoyed the initial arc by Ed Brisson a couple of years ago. The subsequent storyline, though a little too reminiscent of the Predators film, was still decent. This current arc brings back John, Dutch's brother, but the pacing feels incredibly rushed.
Essentially, it's a typical setup: a group of survivors against a single, incredibly powerful Predator. However, the plot unfolds almost exactly as you'd expect. Honestly, I was hoping for a darker turn this time around. That said, if you're just looking for some sweet, bloody Predator action, it's not half bad.
This was alright, a co worker was like yo, you gotta read this it's awesome! So he let me borrow it, and unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite. The characters are meh, the art is great, at least. I thought it was ridiculous that every time the predator made a sound, it was "Skraw". Also, is it a thing for characters in universe to refer to them as predators? that seems a little off to me. Amyways average comic in my opinion.
Definitely the more flawed of the three issues currently on offer. There’s some weird name mis-identification with the survivors (unless two are both named Sen), and the coloring felt a bit weird (several moments where Paolo’s armor is colored like Theta’s in very distant moments, but otherwise he’s a dusky gray most of the time). Story was fine, continuing the examination of The Preserve and whether the Yautja are keeping people in stasis and for how long before hunting them. Thought the John Schaefer elements was fun and I vaguely remember him from Concrete Jungle (was he also in the novel or just the comics?). Curious if there will be much or a lot of lag time between this “ending” and wherever the series picks up next.
3.5, not a bad ending to the Brisson Theta series. The ending felt a bit rushed but Theta got her revenge. So after years and years of searching they get some closure on the human harvesting hunting story. What I liked was Brisson's writing on Theta becoming Aware she was older and not up to par anymore, she had not fought a Predator in a few years. It was a good realization when heroes usually never waiver. She comes up with a plan have her ending via poison and in a twist a fate, it works better than she imagined. I also liked that the ultimate predator could not really be defeated with wits or brawn, he was a serious Mofo. Cool tie-in to Dutch as well. Altogether this series was a good ride considering Marvel has the ropes now.
I really liked Theta in the first volume, but I stopped caring somewhere in the second one, because it just never feels like she wants anything meaningful. She got her revenge against the actual Predator that killed her family a long time ago, and then in the second one she's just... trying to kill more Predators? As individuals? So in this one she's allegedly trying to find out where the Predator cryofarms or home planet are, but because she doesn't actually do that or add anything to what we know about Predators, it just feels pointless, and frankly silly that she's even trying to do it by herself in an ancient old ship.
A decent ending to Brisson's Predator trilogy. Theta is back. She's wiped out every Predator she's ever found and now they are on the run. She hasn't seen one in 6 years. Time for a trap. I really liked how Brisson tied this into the original Dark Horse Predator comics. That was a great idea. I just wish he'd taken it further.
Decent enough artwork, but the story lacks any real substance, feeling like little more than one long fight with redshirts who nobody cares about getting offed panel after panel. The inclusion of a character from earlier comics also felt a little gratuitous, and really didn’t add anything to proceedings.
Theta was a rough character, a bad-ass, but still rough. She feels fully evolved in this. She finally grew into her strength, and instead of letting her rage control her, she uses it as a tool. I was surprised by a character that I didn't expect in this. He's in several books and comics. Schaefer from Concerete Jungle and Cold War. That was awesome.
Finally got around to reading the closing act of Ed Brisson's Predator trilogy and it was a great way to close out this chapter and open up what could potentially come next. Brisson writes a fast-paced story and he re-introduces a fan-favourite character from the OG Dark Horse series. The artwork fits the story perfectly and I'm really hoping they allow him to continue this story.
Fun entry into the world of Predators. It establishes its world and characters well, so no precious familiarity of the comic books is needed. Good art and a balanced story that is both complete and leads the reader to wanting more.
The whole thing with both the Alien and the Predator species coming up with the Bigger! Badder! version is getting really old really fast. Use the creatures you have, and give us a meaningful story, instead of just a bigger fight.
Great story. Couldn't put the comic down. Enjoyed the art style. Looking forward to the next volume. Definitely going to check out other comics from this author.
Great series that brings the same entertainment the Predator universe is known for. Lots of action, lots of stealth and an unhealthy dose of brutality.
You get what you paid for, I guess. Not particularly imaginative, but decent enough story that rounds out the Theta trilogy. Or does it? (the ending suggests more to come)
Wow Life in this tired Franchise? Yes, good story hemmed some by the conventions of the woke publishers, but fun gun and run. Man is not just prey but Predator as well. Enjoy.
Simple but engaging story premise, beautifully drawn, maybe a bias review as predator fan but this ticked most the boxes from what I want out of a predator comic.
Interesting characters but you really ought to read the previous Brisson stories before reading this; this is acting as a start to a conclusion that, as far as I can tell, has yet to happen
probably 2.5. My least favourite of the three. weakest art and story but caps off the trilogy. I feel with more issues this could have been better or unnecessary to do.
