In the highly anticipated second installment of Luxe's Lullaby Trilogy, Luxe and her companions find themselves facing even greater challenges as they delve deeper into the dangerous world of the fae.
The four race against time to find a solution that will allow Luxe to wield her powers without succumbing to their crippling side effects, while also gathering allies willing to stand against the tyrannical fae queen. Amidst the chaos, Søren battles his own inner demons–remnants of his traumatic experience of torture at the queen’s hands. Meanwhile, Calix is faced with a harrowing betrayal and a devastating loss. Throughout it all, Alistair remains a steadfast pillar of strength for Luxe and the group, despite being forced to face the uncomfortable realities of his past.
In this captivating sequel, the stakes are higher, the dangers are deadlier, and the fate of the fae realm hangs in the balance. Can Luxe and the guys find the path to victory despite the difficulties they face at every turn?
Loved diving back into this world! If you haven’t started reading the Luxes Lullaby Trilogy yet, you are missing out! This book starts right where the first one left off and pulled me in immediately. I couldn’t put it down. I love Cara’s ability to tell an action packed story that keeps you wanting to read more while also still giving all the cozy vibes. I love that we got to see some further character development as the story progressed, I especially enjoyed this for Soren. The why choose vibes were also much more prevalent in this one and we also got some more spice with this one. I really enjoyed seeing the love that all of the characters have for one another grow. And that ending?! I cannot wait to see what book 3 holds for our friends!!
In the thrilling second installment of the Luxe’s Lullaby Trilogy, Luxe and her companions race against time to control her powers and gather allies to stand against the tyrannical fae queen. With the fate of the fae realm hanging in the balance, this sequel delivers even higher stakes and deadlier dangers.
Overall rating: 4.5/5
Breakdown: 1. **Plot and Storytelling:** 4/5 - I might be selfish, but I wish this had been a slightly longer novel. There was so much story and detail packed in that I wanted more room for it all to unfold. Still, you can tell it’s been thoughtfully crafted, and the story flows beautifully.
2. **Characterization:** 5/5 - I’m in love with these characters. They’re so unique, and I love how they grow and change. In this book, we learned so much more about them and their backstories. This trilogy is shaping up to be a beautiful love story in its own right.
3. **Writing Style:** 4/5 - I enjoyed Cara’s writing, and her pacing fits the storyline perfectly. The only thing that threw me off was a few abrupt transitions. They didn’t ruin the flow, but they weren’t quite to my taste.
4. **Originality:** 5/5 - I’ve never read anything like the world Cara has created here. The blend of mythological origins and originality is truly beautiful. You can tell she’s done her research, and I find her world-building fascinating.
5. **Emotional Impact and Resolution:** 4.5/5 - I’m fully invested in this story. Being the middle book, the conclusion was a cliffhanger and left some questions unanswered, but it was intriguing. I can’t wait to dive into book 3.
6. **Spice:** 3.5/5 - The spice is definitely intriguing, but the lack of total resolution leaves me a bit frustrated. I’m excited to see where it goes next!
In the highly anticipated second installment of Luxe's Lullaby Trilogy, Luxe Inquest by Cara Blaine, Luxe and her companions face even greater challenges as they delve deeper into the dangerous world of the fae. The stakes are higher than ever as they race against time to find a solution that will allow Luxe to wield her powers without succumbing to their crippling side effects. Along the way, they gather allies willing to stand against the tyrannical fae queen.
The bonds between the characters are tested like never before as they uncover some of the queen’s well-kept secrets. Luxe, Søren, Calix, and Alistair must summon all their courage and cunning to survive the treacherous path ahead.
Amidst the chaos, Søren remains my favorite character. His battle with his own inner demons, remnants of his traumatic experience of torture at the queen’s hands, adds depth and complexity to his journey. Meanwhile, Calix faces a harrowing betrayal and a devastating loss, while Alistair remains a steadfast pillar of strength for Luxe and the group, even when forced to confront the uncomfortable realities of his past.
This captivating sequel intensifies the adventure and emotional journey, as the fate of the fae realm hangs in the balance. Can Luxe and the guys find the path to victory despite the difficulties they face at every turn? You'll have to read it to find out!
I was hooked when it came to Luxe In Between but I devoured Luxe In Quest!! It took me one whole day to read this book and I was absolutely in love! I love how symmetric our three main male fae and our “Princess” are together! The spice in this book was *chef’s kiss*! Why choose is one of my favorite tropes and I love that Luxe finally figures out that she doesn’t have to choose!
I find all the different origins to be very intriguing and I love how Cara not only does her research but gives us readers a background of where each “fae” is from so that we can better connect each one!
Beware of the cliffhanger! This book will have you grappling at each page as it comes to the end and what will happen next and I am obsessively waiting for the next one!!
This one was a lot more action packed (hence the quest in the name) but it also developed some of the characters more, giving the readers some more backstory.
I also enjoyed the fact that the romance that has been built on for two books finally hit its climax.
I was fortunate enough to recieve Luxe in Quest as an ARC read and OH MY LORE (pun intended)! The amount of different fae that Cara brings into these books amazes me. I thought with this being the 2nd book it would continue with the fae already introduced, boy was wrong. We learn a lot more about the main character and her trio of very diverse fae love prospects. With each detail of their pasts you fall in love with them all just a little more. I wad extremely sad to reach the last page and literally cried that I have to wait to find out how everything turns out! Another amazing book.
Wow! Again I'm going to ask, Did I step into a Monica Ross book? Wait while they were talking to the women by the Cave, did she see everything?.
We finish off the adventure with Luxe and the group for this book. We get to meet more of the parents. We meet a person from someone's passed.
Luxe and the group meet new allies, and find something new to help with her magic.
While Luxe is sleeping she has a vision and you will NEVER believe who it is.
I CAN'T WAIT to read book 3.
Chapters 22-26
Well, the meeting went better then Luxe thought. There was an Out of This World (The Tv Show) moment, and a battle. The two victims were carted off to be healed. We have a heart rate rising moment. Luxe goes into a deep sleep again.
We continue on the Adventure with Luxe and the group. They are still trying to make allies and try to figure out what to do next.
I CAN'T WAIT to read more
Chapters 17-21
Well,I know the story is coming to an end soon, because I am getting book anxiety. Oh no! someone is captured and a certain person wants a meeting with Luxe. I am getting The Wicked Queen vibes in these chapters.
What will happen in the meeting with a certain person? Will the person who was captured be set free? Will there more captured? What will happen to Luxe and the group?
I CAN'T WAIT to read more!!!
Chapters 11-16
We are still on the adventure with Luxe,Alistar, Soren and Calix. These chapters remind me of Twilight: Breaking Dawn, when they go to find allies.
The last chapters I felt Pee-Wee's playhouse, Alice in Wonderland vibes, now these chapters I fell Peter Pan vibes also.
The group has a LONG over due conversation(Did I step into a Monica Ross book,I mean HELLO) and oh no there is almost an argument, but it got squashed by what they went to look for.
Soren's dad Magnus is on an adventure of his own, it's to help Luxe's and her magic as well.
We had an other relm American Idol but only with one contest,Luxe and she got the other relm fae's attention and help as well.
I CAN'T WAIT to read more
Chapters 6-10
These chapters have you stepping into Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and Alice in Wonderland.
We are back to having a love square while we are still on the adventure with Luxe,Alistar,Soren and Calix.
We are on a hunt for something that will help Luxe's magic and traveling. Something is happening with Soren, what happened to him while he was captured?
I CAN'T WAIT to read more!
This is my second book by Cara Blaine.
Chapters 1-5
I love how we are getting the back stories of Calix,Alistar and Soren.
We are still on an adventure with Luxe and her group. We meet a lot of new characters in this book, but they are some how connected to the group. The end of chapter 5 had me snort laugh out loud.
Luxe In Quest is the second in Cara Blaine's romantic fantasy trilogy, Luxe's Lullaby, and a fantastic follow-up to book 1.
The narrators once again do a great job with the voices, emotions and tension. They really are pleasant to listen to and make the audiobook a wonderfully immersive experience.
I love character growth in my MC's and while it was present in the first book, there is more here. Luxe is becoming more confident as a witch, fitting better into her skin and the guys are opening up, showing more of what drives them.
Each character faces major challenges in this book, and it is obvious that the author has thought carefully about what would test their morals and then let their decisions highlight strengths and weaknesses. Nothing like an author who is prepared to throw her MC's under the bus to force a bit of self-evaluation! There's also no hiding behind toxic positivity. It's a fantasy but feels very real and believable.
I like the many types of Fae. There's clearly some well considered and carefully crafted worldbuilding in play.
That ending!!! What a thrilling way to reintroduce something up that has been left open from book 1. Luckily book 3 is available immediately. And not just to resolve that, but also the tension that has been building over the conflict between the Fae Queen and her people because of the prophecy spoken by Luxe's mother. I need to see how the author winds all these storylines up so I'm looking forward to Luxe In Arms.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ spice is .5 (things are progressing but it is slow) Do read the TWs (it's a soft mention with little to no details, but the imagination can run with what is written).
So we make our way further with the prophecy, Luxe and her three Fae (HOT) males. Luxe, Calix, Alistair, and Soren, grow closer in the second installment of this trilogy. And although I wanted to slap the ish out of Soren for some moments, it was also understandable. Luxe as well -but for other reasons (I also wanted to shake her in those moments).
We delve deeper into the lives of Calix and Alistair. We are also introduced to lost family members (and some that will have your heart strings being pulled). Emotions are on the rise, along with the sexual tension.
And the twists and turns continue. It’s a slow burn with a mix of spicy scenes. The story continues to wrap its way around your heart and mind. Luxe is still doubtful. Her Fae Males still supporting her. But she’s growing (I do appreciate how it isn’t a fast thing either). Like Luxe isn’t after 3 days and 12 hours a whole new person. But that CLIFFHANGAR!! Again! I knew it would end on one. But dang! My heart!!
I received this as an ARC from Booksirens and leave this honest review.
Luxe in Quest is the second book in the Luxe's Lullaby Trilogy and I loved it even more than the first in the series.
I loved getting to explore more of the fae realm in book two. All the beautiful world-building and fascinating lore as Luxe, Alistair, Calix, and Soren journey around the realm in search of allies, and a couple of magical items to aid their efforts in the coming war against the tyrannical queen.
The pacing in the story was perfect. Cara does an amazing job at balancing the dark and dangerous parts of the story with the light-hearted and comedic ones. And all the banter. I loved the playful banter between Luxe and the boys.
I also really enjoyed the character development. I loved seeing Luxe's relationships with Alistair, Calix, and Soren grow. There is also a lot of personal growth, especially for Soren, that adds a lot of depth to the characters. I love the found family feel of this group. The tough love and support they have for each other is heart-warming.
This book leaves readers on a bit of a cliffhanger and with loads of unanswered questions and I can't wait to read the last book in the trilogy.
Thank you, Cara, for the ARC copy of Luxe in Quest. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Ugh.. leaving it on that cliffhanger?!? I cannot wait for book three!! This book focuses on Luxe traveling the fae realm to find those that will help their cause, which ultimately lead to going to Calix’s and Alastair’s areas. We get to meet lots of new fae types and explore the relationships being formed between the men and Luxe. We also see Luxe start to grow into her role as the woman mentioned in the prophecy.
There are some spicy scenes and they are well written and are put in to further the story, not just for kicks! I did wish we got a little bit more from Søren in the book, especially at the revelation at the end, but maybe it’s in book three?!?
Great book for those that like books about fae and underdogs never giving up, even if it seems impossible!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
WOW!!! I absolutely loved this book! This is the second book in a trilogy that follows a young woman named Luxe (who is half witch and half fae) and three gorgeous fae males who accompany her on a harrowing journey to fulfill a prophecy. If I had to compare this to the first book, which I already gave 5 stars, I would need an entirely new rating system. The characters were so vivid, the plot kept me on the edge of my seat, and I can’t forget about the spice 🥵🥵🥵. I beta read this, so I can only imagine I’ll have even more amazing things to say about it once I read the completed version. If you are looking for a book that has an evil queen, magic in all its forms, unforgettable characters, and steamy romance, then I highly recommend this!
Wow, just wow! If you enjoyed the first book then buckle up and prepare yourself for this one. The lore and adventure in this book will have you captivated from the very beginning. I could not put this book down and finished it in less than 48 hours. Luxe has grown so much since the first book and I absolutely love her character. Soren, Calix and Alastair are just as dreamy as ever and I loved getting to know them better in this book. The attention to detail is spectacular and the pacing is perfect. The story overall is beautifully written and you will not be disappointed! 10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves a good why choose romantic fantasy with witches, fae, and plenty of world mythology!
I was already hooked with the first book, but this took it to the NEXT LEVEL AHHH. I literally loved it so much.
In my review of the first book I compared Luxe to Bonnie from the Vampire Diaries, but if she discovered she was also half fae and it still gives all those vibes. So. Good. She's learning about her powers and heritage and growing in her skills throughout these books and the writing was so well done. You get so attached to all of the characters.
Also- why choose?? And between THREE fae males? 🫠🥵
Keep them coming Cara, I will keep shouting and hyping this book from the rooftops 🗣️
If you're a romantasy girlie, literally read this series right now.
I received a free ARC of this book am leaving this review voluntarily
I love this series! In "Luxe in Quest," the second book in the Luxe's Lullaby Trilogy. Luxe, Søren, Calix, and Alistair continue to find a way to fulfill the prophecy and fight against the Queen. This book brings each character face-to-face with their past trauma and forces them to work through it. I felt so bad for Søren trying to deal with all that happened in book 1. This book throws everyone into challenges that they must face and try to overcome. The cliffhanger at the end left me wanting more, and I'm looking forward to the next one. I received an arc for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
While Luxe in Between set the stage, Luxe in Quest just hit the ground running. I was hooked at the end of book 1 and this one just dug its way deeper. One thing I found that I really enjoyed while reading this one was getting the male main char's points of view as well, not to mention getting to see more of their interactions together with Luxe as well as each other. I am a huge fan of the 'why choose' trope so this just made my heart so happy. Then to see the amazing growth in Luxe was so beautiful, and that spice... perfect in all the right ways. I am so eager to start on book 3.
Luxe in Quest, Book Two of Luxe's Lullaby Trilogy by Cara Blaine, is a masterpiece. Paige Reisenfeld and PJ Freebourn deliver narrations that truly elevate the experience. Their ability to alter voices and accents is remarkable. The story dives deeper into the fantasy world, with higher stakes and intricately depicted characters' backstories. The character development and sizzling romance are equally incredibly delicious, and the balance of romance, fantasy, and action is unparalleled. The cliffhanger is masterfully done, leaving you hungry for more. Kudos to the author and narrators for this spellbinding tale!
I actually went back and reread the first book and this book is just as exciting and fun to read. The characters are growing and the 3 of them are building more and tighter bonds. Finding Thalia after being heartsick at losing all her info now Luxe has another trail she must follow and a new prophecy to figure out. The Queennis getting closer but Luxe and the guys are getting stronger and finding ally’s the next book will hopefully bring the end of the evil Queen.
I do love a good why choose! And the communication between the characters when we reach that point 😘👌
I am not a romance reader mostly and this series is plot heavy enough to be enjoyable as a fantasy. The romance aspect is just extra seasoning. Good seasoning but the book would still move even if they weren't fooling around ✔️
The endings of these books are also top notch. Its not nerve wracking enough to make me anxious for the next book, but still intriguing enough for me to look forward to picking up the next!
Omgah!!!!!!! The storyline of Luxe just keeps getting better and better. Like, wow, I don't know how to begin besides purely amazing! Luxe's journey is getting more and more complicated. Yet with her 3 male fae with her, she will come through everything I just know it. Yes, this book ends on a HUGE cliffhanger, but it's gonna leave you in such anticipation for book 3. A possible war, budding relationships, new secrets uncovered, and so many mysteries to unfold I'm left in utter shock. Book 3 can't get here soon enough.
I love this series soooo much! I am enjoying the plot, the characters and of course the spice. I think this has been done just perfectly where the spice doesn’t override everything else. I love all the new characters we are meeting along the way and just the overall devotion that they have to each other. I can’t wait for the next book as this is becoming one of my all time favorite series so far!
I just cannot get enough of Luxe’s story and journey. The 3 faes that accompany her are dreamy in their own way and I can see why this is a why choose book! Luxe’s quest takes you all over the fae realm with some wins and some losses but many twist and turns along the way. I can say I literally gasped out loud several times! I can’t wait for their story to conclude in the 3rd book because I know this will be an ending I DO NOT want to miss!!!
This is the second book in the Luxe's Lullaby Trilogy. As always, Cara did not disappoint with this one. She creates a world that's so vivid that it puts the reader in the story. This one kept me on the edge of my seat through the entire book. Don't even get my started on the spice in this one. If you're looking for a book that's steamy romance, amazing characters, and all things magic then this is the book for you. I can't wait for the third book in this trilogy.
A great continuation of the story: full of intrigue, tension, and the right amount of action. I am loving this trilogy so far, I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in Luxe in Arms. Definitely my most favorite why-choose romance of all time - all the male characters are different but work well together, it’s “realistic” in the way Luxe feels and thinks about this situation, and oh so much fun to watch the men teach her differently. Definitely ready for book 3!
This was a wonderful follow up to Luxe In Between. Learning more of the males' backstories, visiting some very key places and people, and the evolution of their relationship/(s) both one on one as well as as a group. I adored every moment of this read and look forward to the final segment of this trilogy.
I received this book as an Advanced Copy Reader. I was not compensated beyond the free edition of this book for my review. The opinion stated here is my own honest review.
Love getting to know the characters better as the series progresses! I love that they will always come together to face their greatest challenge. Even while going through their individual battles. Love that there is so much detail into all the faes introduced throughout. The mmcs do everything to keep luxe safe even with her struggle with her powers. This second book was the perfect addition, always left wanting more and book three is coming soon!
I loved the first book in this series but I think I loved this one even more. It was riveting, engaging and kept me on the edge of my seat. I really hated having to put this down for mundane things like eating or sleeping! They didn't seem that important compared to the book! But I succumbed and had to wait to finish it the next day. Totally worth it. I am so glad to have read both books in this series and can't wait to get to number three. Incredible story.
I am absolutely obsessed with Luxe’s story. Between Luxe being able to muster up more of her magic skills (both witch and fae), and the romance that is evolving, I couldn’t put it down. Along with the stories of the male’s families and their interactions gives more insight on their characters. I’m so excited to see how this story continues, and she is able to hopefully fulfill the prophecy. I cannot wait for the next book, it’s already pre-ordered!
Throughly enjoying this series! I've now pre-ordered the final book and will impatiently await the release date.
I'm loving the character development of everyone, especially Luxe herself. I like that she can carry herself so well with everything constantly being thrown at her and learning as she goes. The why choose aspect has really won me over because I truly can't decide who I like her better with. We do get a little bit more spice in this one. Overall, this series has just been SO good!
Def spicier than the first book in the series (this isn't a bad thing!) You also get to see more of the love interests' personalities and how they compliment (or clash) with one another leading to some interesting situations. Impressed by how the author approached the idea of a poly relationship, treating it realistically with clear conversations. There's also a bit more action and slight political intrigue in this installment. Excited to see how it ties together in the next book!
