The plot is hard to follow and none of the characters are particularly likable. The story itself is fine but likely would have done much better as a full length novel.

Received a free review copy. Maybe it's because I haven't read the first books in the series, but there is a distinct lack of characterization in our main character who apparently is some sort of musical prodigy Cinderella. Bad things happen, and she barely reacts, internally or externally. The entire story just left me cold. I kept wanting to care about this character, but... nope, nothing there. Just like Sonya.
