Harlow I feel like I am going crazy.

I don’t know who I am now. After. After everything. The accident. The assault. I am so unsure of myself. The only thing I am sure of is him. Ace Wilde is the darkness that shadows run from and now he has me in his sights. Our bond is inescapable. He says he can teach me how to be fearless, but at what cost? My mind? My soul? My heart? The moment we met I knew I would gladly give away all three for a chance to lay with the devil.

If love makes a person go mad, then I accept my diagnosis.
Babydoll is a sick and twisted Harley Quinn and Joker retelling.

The story follows psychology student Harlow as she navigates her growing fascination for the dark and disturbed Ace Wilde. He wants to corrupt her by pulling her into hell with him. Little did he know, that that was where she wanted to be all along.

ARC read-- CHECK ALL TRIGGER AND CONTENT WARNINGS.This book had everything I love about a dark romance. From start to finish it kept me on my toes. This book is a Harley Quinn and Joker re-telling. There were a few times where I was like what did I just read. Without giving any spoilers just know that it will take you on a wild ride. I am excited to see what else is in-store for this characters and Amara Rose.

This does end on a cliffhanger.

“I would meet the reaper at the gate and walk through the darkness with him, side by side.”

Cute Joker/Harley Quinn retelling.
Corny at times but not a bad dark romance.

Babydoll by Amara Rose 🖤

“You’re insane.”
“I never said I wasn’t.”

I will preface this review by saying please check all trigger & content warnings.

I am not really a dark romance reader (this will be my 3rd) however I loved the premise of this book and wanted to give it a go.

I am so glad I did. This was a crazy, fun, wild ride and I didn’t expect to connect to the characters the way I did. The story is so fast paced and will keep you entertained from start to finish.

Ace was everything I could want in a morally grey (black?) mmc and I cannot wait for the rest of the series and to continue reading about these insane characters!

Wait, am I a dark romance girly now!? 🖤

** Please make sure you check out trigger warnings before reading, I’m telling you there is a lot of them. **

Babydoll is the first book of the Love and Madness Trilogy, and after reading this book I can’t wait to read what the rest of the series has it store.

Babydoll is a very dark and taboo traumance Joker and Harley retelling.
Harlow is a psychology student assigned to be an assistant at the local asylum, Harlow is surrounded by crazy but she never knew the true definition of insanity until she met Ace. Ace Wilde is dark and as morally black as they come. Watch as Ace drags Harlow into his dark and depraved world as you watch Harlow decent into the madness with Ace you see how she reveals in the chaos of his world. This story is full of craziness and carnage that will have your heart racing in more ways than one.

I really enjoyed this book and I loved every messed up minute of reading it. There was never a dull moment while reading but that cliffhanger killed me a bit on the inside. But anyways I also have to say that this book was very well written. Thank you to the author Amara Rose for allowing me to be apart of your arc team for this book I couldn’t get enough of it.

ARC READ - read the trigger warnings, there’s quite a few and some are rather touchy subjects for A LOT of people!

Harlow and Ace are like opposite sides of the same coin, one is good, one is bad and they are always drawn together despite the odds. The love happens fast, and the spice is SPICY.

If you love morally grey than you’ll love this novel! The MMC will burn the world to rebuild for the FMC, and he has very questionable methods of doing so… but honestly it made me enjoy his character more.

5 🌶️’s

It’s the first book in a series and it very much ends on a cliffhanger that leaves you wishing you could download the next book just to see what happens next.

Keep in mind that this is a Harley Quinn & Joker retelling! Amara does a wonderful job adding her own spin to it while keeping true to the story between the inspired duo.

A Joker and Harley Quinn retelling.

A gripping dark romance that will have you on edge.

🖤 spicy
🖤 morally grey
🖤 opposites attract
🖤 touch her and die
🖤 twisted

“I was a marionette, and the God of guilt was tugging on my heart strings so hard I feared they would snap”

Please check trigger warning before diving in, there’s some very taboo and at time vile themes throughout the story.

I was sent this book by the author and all opinions are my own.

I really wanted to love this book because it started off strong. Unfortunately, by the time I hit the 60% mark, it completely lost me. I ended up DNF’ing with about 40 pages left.

The biggest issue? It felt like the characters’ personalities flipped around a million times without any real reason. One minute they’re one way, the next they’re completely different, and not in a character growth type of way. it just felt messy and inconsistent.
On top of that, the story itself became so random. There was way too much information shoved into under 200 pages, and most of it didn’t seem to fit together cohesively. It read like plot points were being thrown at the wall to see what stuck.
Another thing that stood out to me was the repetitiveness… certain words and phrases were used so often it started pulling me out of the story. Honestly, it made me wonder if AI was involved somewhere in the writing or editing process.
In the end, what started as a dark, intriguing read just became confusing, repetitive, and exhausting to get through. Not for me. I do love a good dark romance but this is not it

ARC read - CHECK ALL TRIGGER AND CONTENT WARNINGS!

This was my first serious dark romance read and it did not disappoint. Babydoll, is a Joker and Harley retelling, with clever hints scattered through the book. It keeps you on your toes from the start to the end. Was a few times sitting thinking, what did I just read and why am I enjoying it? The spicy is SPICY! The love is fast. The MMC is the type to burn the world down, and rebuild it for his MFC.

As a Harley and Joker fan, this was right up my alley and Amara Rose has gained a new reader!

This was...not great. I went into it with really high expectations because it's a Harley and Joker contemporary retelling, but it just didn't deliver for me. The characters were ridiculous (and not in the fun kind of ridiculous), and the whole thing was just blah for me. I didn't get past the 60% mark because I just couldn't care less.

This was a nice and quick read about Harlow and Ace. It is a Harley Quinn and Joker retelling who are probably my favorite fictional couple so I absolutely loved this book! I liked the character development, how Harlow got to the more insane stage, seeing how unhinged Ace was and the overall storyline. The reason for losing a star was that some of the names felt a little too similar to the real thing which as a huge Gotham fan idk how I felt about it but otherwise it was great!

I LOVED this book! This was my first Amara Rose book and I am hooked. The plot was there, the spice was there and the comedy was there. What more could you ask for?

I don't think there was one thing about this book that I didn't like. Were some of the MMC's actions questionable? Absolutely. Would I want it any other way? Absolutely not. He is definitely unhinged in the best way. The FMC had an unbelievable journey and her transformation throughout the book left me speechless. I loved seeing her change for the better and become strong and powerful.

I highly recommend this book! I received an advance reader copy of this book for free but I will definitely be buying a physical copy as well!

This was a fun, dark Harley Quinn and the Joker inspired story. The characters are vibrant. I could hear the deranged laughter as I was reading. The content was at times a bit darker than I typically read, but I enjoyed the ride. That ending, though! 😳🤯 you’ll be happy to hear that book 2 is already out so you don’t have to sit and wait after THAT ending!

I tried the audio out for this as well, and if I’m being honest I did not enjoy the audio at all. I scrapped the audio and completed this book with my eyes instead.

A brilliantly written novella inspired by the Joker and Harley Quinn. Do I need to say anymore?

This deliciously dark tale of the falling and obsession at first sight and then the dive into the darkness together (he was already there) is just perfect. If you love dark books, don't have many triggers and always thought the jokers crazy was attractive ... this is definitely for you!

This was such a fun twisted read that I finished in a day. This was an easy-to-read page turner but check your triggers.
As this is a retelling of Harley and the joker, I knew going in that this would be a descent into madness for a good girl and a morally black villain and that is exactly what I got, and it was really enjoyable. Now I will say something about some of the movies you see when it comes to the joker/Harley dynamic is yes, the joker sees Harley as his, but he is dismissive and abusive towards her so you can have mixed feelings about them as a couple or at least I have. With this book however you get the obsessiveness and possessiveness, but you can tell that Ace the MMC cares about Harley and wants to keep her safe especially from certain characters in the book that he decides to handle so as to keep her safe. Yes, you still have some of the unhinged behavior you expect from a joker like character, but it was not in a way to be dismissive or put down Harlow who is Harley in this book. In fact, in Harlow's request to Ace to help her stop being afraid she tells him to ignore her cries for help and he worries if the woman at the end of this will still be the woman he cares about. He just wants to help her, and, in some ways, she is the one pushing for it and he is just meeting her demands with his own methods. He even tries to play down some of the methods because he doesn't want to lose her and when she was suffering, he was punishing himself at the same time. So, I definitely loved their energy together and can't wait for more as this book leaves on a cliffhanger and I want to read more.

This book is about Harlow who is a psychology student finishing up her degree at the local asylum. Harlow is a good girl who is just trying to live her life as best as she can with only her friend Scarlette in her life for support. Well one night Scarlette drags her to a nightclub for a night out on the town when she runs into none other than her Ex-boyfriend who can't seem to take no for an answer. So, Suprise when this mysterious man comes to her rescue a man who she can't take her eyes off of but knows there is something extremely dangerous about him. Well after rescuing her they end up going their separate ways or at least what Harlow things because what she doesn't realize is she caught ACE's interest, and he is intent on finding out more about her one way or another and he is not one for respecting laws. So, imagine his Suprise when he finds out that not only is she working at the local asylum but one of her patients is his bitch of a mother. So, what better way to get to know her than to use their new connection because he has special dark and twisted plans for her and all it may cost her is her mind, soul and heart.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 Ouu this was absolutely devoured. Ate and left no crumbs. That was all of the dark and depraved romance I’ve been looking for it was *chef’s kiss*

“You suffer, I suffer”

The author said she put the whole grocery list of triggers in here and she meant it, and I loved it. I don’t know what that says about me but Ace (MMC) is top tier in my opinion and I loved experiencing Harlow (FMC) dive into her darkest self and come out better for it.

“Tell me Babydoll, would you let my darkness consume your light?”

“ ‘Teach me’ she breathed.. My little doll was ready for her descent into madness, and I couldn’t wait to be the one to deliver her there.”

This is a Harley Quinn and Joker retelling and Amara Rose did it so well, I fell in love with the toxic duo all over again.
I loved the spin she put on their story and I didn’t realize this was the love story between these two that I’ve been needing.

“He was my reaper. My hell hound that would bite off the head of anyone who came for me. My handsome nightmare. He was mine, and I was his. His broken doll….He was my downfall just as much as I was his salvation, and we would rise and fall together.”

I loved all the classic Harley and Joker references as well within this new age retelling. Ace was so classically unhinged with the same sense of depraved humour of the Joker we know and love and eventually you see Harlow blossom into her unhinged dark humour as well it was lovely.

I just loved this, this could possibly be my favourite read for the month and it’s just started.
Also.. the ‘HA HA HA’ reference was perfection.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

Holy shit, this was so wickedly good! But OMG that ending!! What in the ever-loving hell... aaaaahhhhhh!!!! I have sooooo many questions!!!

This was my first ever book written by Amara Rose and narrated by Jacci Prior and I believe this was love at first listen. Harlow Avery is such a complex character, in the sense that she went from being a somewhat righteous psych student to a completely unhinged psychopath, and let me tell you, the way that Jacci performed both sides of the coin was simply magnificent.

And then we have Ace. Twisted, wicked, Ace. This man knew what he wanted and he was willing to do everything he needed to do to get it, even if it meant breaking his Babydoll to built her back up to match his darkness. Now I have listened to Brandon Francis perform a lot of different types of characters, but I didn't know how much I needed an unhinged madman voiced by him in my life.

I had so much fun with this book, and I'm dying to see what happens next. To the point where I'm debating if I should wait for the possibility of an audiobook version, or maybe I should just eyeball read it.

Quote: “I was spread so wide, and there was no way to escape the sensations blazing through my body. I was gasoline, and he was the match that would ignite my inferno. We would destroy everything in our path, leaving behind nothing but ash.”

This is a dark, Harley x Joker retelling that had me from the jump.

There are 3 pages worth of content warnings so please read them before you start this book.

Harlow is a psychology student who will be doing her practicum hours at the Asylum. But prior to starting there she goes out clubbing with a friend. Of course some jerks try to manhandle her and in walks Ace Wilde to the chat. He stops everything of course and disappears on Harlow after.

Naturally Ace is going to stalk her, he's obsessed and all my dark romance girls know we LOVE an obsessed, touch her and die, stalking MMC. I'll leave the plot at that let you decide if you want to read it. Just know that Harlow goes through a change and comes out strong. Ace has to face his own issues as well. Ace is a definite top book boyfriend for me after a certain scene where he gets revenge on some jerks that hurt Harlow.

This book literally has it all. The spice is spicing, the banter is top notch and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Please note that this book does end on a cliff hanger and had me screaming, cussing and completely unhinged. I am on edge waiting for book 2.

Oh my lord! If you are looking for a trip to crazy town, then this is definitely for you. Check all of your trigger warnings before you proceed ….there are actually 30 warnings…. I read the shopping list that Amara provided and I dove right into the deep end.

This is a Harley Quinn meets The Joker retelling. Ace is our MMC and he is so dark, moody, broody. He is a 10 but he is so dark, stalker, he isn’t morally grey he is morally black and he knows exactly how messed up he is.

Harlow is our good girl while Ace is our bad boy, he wants her is every way possible and he will do what he needs to do to have her. She should have known exactly what he is when he unalive’s Harlows ex and moves all of her things into his apartment …. without Harlow knowing!!

This is a hell of a ride, the actions, the consequences, is so dark, so twisted and so taboo it is perfection.

Take this journey if you love dark romance, I promise it is worth the ride.

ARC READ — PLEASE READ ALL TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING.

4/5⭐️

I read the book back in September but am just getting around to posting a review and let me just start by saying this book is a DARK romance. I mean it. Check the trigger warnings before reading as it can definitely be too much for a lot of people.

This is a Harley Quinn x Joker retelling and it did not disappoint! Amara did such a great job portraying them in her own characters, Harlow and Ace.

Harlow is a “good girl” psychology student who is finishing up her degree at an asylum. When her best friend, Scarlett, drags her to a club for a night out, she meets Ace, the mysterious man who comes to her rescue when her ex couldn’t take no for an answer.

They go their separate ways, at least that’s what Harlow thinks but she catches Ace’s eye and he is set on finding out more about her.

It is obsession at first sight.

Imagine Ace’s surprise when he finds out that one of her patients is his bitch of a mother and what better way of getting to know her than his connection.

Now I will say something about some of the books you read when it comes to the joker/Harley dynamic is yes, the joker sees Harley as his, but he is dismissive and abusive towards her so you can have mixed feelings about them as a couple or at least I have.

With this book however you get the obsessiveness and possessiveness, but you can tell that Ace cares about Harlow and wants to keep her safe especially from certain characters in the book that he decides to handle so as to keep her safe.

Yes, you still have some of the unhinged behavior you expect from a joker like character, but it was not in a way to be dismissive or put down Harlow.

It’s a PERFECT read if you’re looking for something quick and spicy. The love happens fast and the spice is amazing too. If you love dark, taboo, morally grey themes, you’ll love this!!

The book ends on a cliffhanger so I’m looking forward to the next book (impatiently)

Oh my gawd!!!

My initial reaction after finishing the book: Is this the end? Is this a cliffhanger? Is there a second book? TELL MEEE!!! How can you do this to me!!!

My review of Babydoll: LOVED IT!!! It really is a retelling of Harley and Joker but honestly, its better. Harley and Joker’s relationship has always been toxic with all the disadvantages towards Harley but Harlow and Ace’s relationship, though toxic as well, is mutually beneficial and they’re equal in their relationship, they have a “healthier” toxic relationship.

“I suffer, you suffer” just because of this, I fell in love with Ace, I didn’t expect for him to do that and was really surprised.

Harlow is definitely the multiverse version of Harley Q., while Ace is actually better than Joker.

I really hope there’s a book 2 for a closure of their story, and a book 3 for Frost and Scarlet’s story!

Hmm a bit disappointing it ends the way it does, but I guess it’s fitting. The Joker and Harley Quinn theme is definitely strong and evident. Maybe that’s why it works. We’ve all seen the DC inspired movies that made their sick, dark obsession into a love story. and I suppose in that case we can imagine what happens next for them.
I don’t think I’d read the next book if this did continue as a series. It wasn’t bad just not necessarily something I feel invested in, especially if there’s no closure.

It is dark. Murder. Rape. Torture. Asylum patients who are pretty damn twisted. Drugs. Blood play. For a bit I got nervous when Ace said he was going to use a knife in a certain place, but am very glad when the story did not take on a mutilation turn in that area. I think having been warned that it was so dark and based on Joker and Harley Quinn made it so that I got what I expected.

I could not put this book down for the life of me, but this is a very dark and twisted romance so please read the triggers warnings before reading.

This book is about Harlow a psychology student and Ace who runs a drug business and does some illegal things. He sees her at the club and that's where his obsession starts . He stalks her and finds out she is treating his mom who is in the psych hospital where Harlow is doing an intern ship . Ace does a plan to take care of his mother not realizing Harlow was there. He saves her and helps her become a stronger version of herself. In the end after trying to rescue her friend, his employee but they both get injured .

The romance between them is amazing, the way the learn and teach one another is quite beautiful. But I beg you read the trigger warnings I had to really tone my review down to how dark the book actually is
