Having finally found his mother’s mysterious birthplace, the small town of Brewer’s Bight in Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula, Corbin Dwyer reluctantly allows himself to embrace the possibility of a fresh start -- a life free from guns, fists, blood, or battle.
But former Foreign Legion Sergeant Jameson Matisse, Dwyer’s teacher, mentor, commander, and friend has a different plan. The highly decorated Matisse has retired from his service to France and now travels the world as a high-priced assassin -- a contract killer with a perfect success ratio... and he’s just been hired to kill Corbin... a job he has anxiously accepted.
Unknown to Dwyer, Matisse has become convinced his greatest pupil has turned into a psychotic monster -- and with the sergeant seeing himself as responsible for making Corbin an elite killer, it seems only right he’d be the one to take him out.
Basically, Dwyer is a dead man -- and once Matisse tracks him down, not only will the former legionnaire be targeted, but so will his recently discovered family in Brewer’s Bight. Of course Corbin can efficiently take care of himself, but how will he protect those he cares about when his enemy is the one who’d taught him everything he knows.
Jameson Matisse never fails on a contract, and Corbin Dwyer never loses a battle -- it’s the unbeatable vs. the undefeated with Brewer’s Bight in the middle.

I've arrived at my destination and it's bittersweet.
I think trilogies are hard to conclude because the author can never meet the reader's expectations. We readers have our own ideas and we see the book in our heads which make us expect so much. Ever since finishing Corbin Dwyer #2 I'd been looking forward to #3 but dreading it too.
Here's my spoiler free review. Blood Will Tell wraps the saga of our favourite legionnaire in such a nice bow, it seems too good. The insane amount of story, backstory and emotion has us overlooking how of the three books I found this had the least amount of Corbin ass-kickery, but it's okay because the secondary characters kick enough ass to keep this book up to the quality I've come to expect.
This book brings everything to a head and there are no questions left unanswered. Oddly for a thriller action book, I found the bad guys irrelevant for the simple reason the story moves without them, which you wouldn't think could happen but Thaine somehow manages to do it wonderfully. Don't misunderstand, Matisse is a force of nature, but its the wrap up of the story that shines in this book.
In short, Blood Will Tell doesn't have the grit of Rise By Sin and it doesn't have the nonstop action of Never Found Lying Down, but it completes the entire Corbin Dwyer experience perfectly, like that perfect cup of coffee after a wonderful dinner with a bunch of close friends.
But now I'm sad because I miss Corbin already, and the literary world needs more heroes like our favourite baddass legionnaire.
Another great novel in this series. The author has once again taken me on a whirlwind of emotion as the story unfolds. The local NL references intertwined throughout the story add to its mystery. Can’t wait for #4??
Thaine Chase has once again hit a line drive straight up the middle! Although it saddens me that this brings the Dwyer story to a close, he could have not gone out with any more style! Mr. Chase continues to peel back the layers of Corbin’s story in his signature detailed, exciting, and ‘edge of your seat’ sort of way! As the reader, we get to see even more about the decisions and events that brought Corbin to his current local in Newfoundland, who and what drives him, and exactly what Honor and Family mean to him.
If you want a Story packed with action, honor, passion, mystery and adventure, grab a copy of “Blood Will Tell” by Thaine Chase.
*If you haven’t yet, be sure to catch up on how Corbin got to book 3 in book 1 “Rise by Sin” and book 2 “Never Found Lying Down”
Well, he pulled it off! I’m not quite sure how, but Thaine Chase totally met my hopes for the big showdown in this third Corbin Dwyer novel. Pitting a hero against their mentor is a tricky move, we readers always have our own ideas, and that’s why showing a monster often falls short of our imaginations. Risky stuff! But in Blood Will Tell, Chase handles the clash between Dwyer and his mentor Matisse beautifully. What a ride!
I was surprised to hear there’s a fourth Corbin Dwyer book because Blood Will Tell wrapped the saga so perfectly. I’m a little nervous about a fourth instalment, but if you’ve enjoyed Rise By Sin and Never Found Lying Down, do yourself a favour: grab Blood Will Tell ASAP! It’s fantastic!
When an author sets the bar is so high with the first two books of a trilogy you’re always a little worried the conclusion will not live up to the rest of the story. In this case, the quality of the story and the conclusion of the story absolutely overshadowed the other two books which would seem impossible if you read the previous two books. This author doesn’t waste your time with needless filler or extensive build ups that don’t live up to the hype. It’s a continuous thrill ride with plenty of great revenge and nail biting excitement. Every time I get a notification there will be a new Thaine Chase book release, I know I’m in for a treat! This trilogy is a must read!!
Just finished this one yesterday and wow. The way he ties in the title, another language, and ends in such style… how can I not read the final Corbin book?! Interesting character names though AND Greggy was a real person?!? That’s really cool. I don’t know all the army lingo so I would recommend this book for someone who has been a soldier of sorts. Sometimes I’m awed how ppl with so much talent are not famous…. Thanks again Chase for being a local author! Now on to the next last one in the series!!!!
This third book in the Corbin Dwyer series delivers excitement in Spades! The author weaves a wonderful story of violence, self reflection, and redemption. The story is action packed, but also provides a witty human touch. I love the hero, but also the cast of supporting characters. They're well thought out with their own stories and motivations. They're not just window dressing and bring a greater depth to the story. I can't wait to read more about Corbin Dwyer and the rest of his sphere.
Blood Will Tell finishes strong and answers all the questions from the first two books. Thaine Chase knows how to tell a story and he knows how to respect all his characters (and I enjoyed learning more about the secondary characters).
Yes I wanted to give 5stars the book deserves 5stars, it's clever, fast paced, and sentimental somehow, but the author didn't let me hear what the mum wrote in her letter to Corbin. That's costing you a star, Thaine! Sorry. Otherwise another brilliant novel. What did the mum write?????
