Luc and Alec are my best friends, and they're hopelessly in love. With each other. But after a drunken threesome two years ago made me realize I was in love with them both, I moved out, got engaged, and toured the country with a Broadway troupe so Luc and Alec could chase their happily ever after without me in the way.
Now just one day after returning to Brooklyn - unemployed, single, and avoiding a stalker ex-fiance - Luc drops a bombshell: He and Alec aren't gay, their bisexual. And Poly. They're both in love with me and want to commit to a relationship. The three of us.
What the hell do I do now?
The right thing... I turn them down. Again. But Luc and Alec don't take my rejection well, and they scheme to prove to me that this thing can really work. Two weeks later, an invitation arrives - to The Three of Hearts V-Day Masquerade Ball at Scandal, an elusive private club in the Hampton's - offering me the possibility of accepting Luc and Alec's love in a polyamorous world I never knew existed.
Am I Poly? Can both Luc and Alec really share me? Can I even share two men? After denying my feelings for so long, so much is riding on one night - one night to prove to my fragile heart that just maybe, I can finally accept Luc and Alec's love in a world that won't likely ever accept us.

Disclaimer: I got this book for free on Kindle. I participated in stuff your kindle day where I got a bunch of romance books for free, roughly 2,000 books. I normally do not read romance books but I wanted to try the genre. I typically read fantasy, science fiction, biographies, and classics so this is way out of my comfort zone. My plan is to draw a book at random without reading the summary, title, and avoiding looking at the cover. As long as the book is not too graphic for me or leads into something uncomfortable, I will be attempting to finish as many of these books as I can in 2024. I understand that many of these books will likely not be top tier but I am hoping that I can learn something about the romance genre as a whole and figure out if any types of books in this genre are for me.
Review: Where to start with this one.... I never really picked up on the plot outside of it being a threesome. I know a I read a book earlier that was also a threesome but at least it felt like there was a plot. This one I never figured it out. The only thing moving the story along was the girl seemed hesitant to participate in this type of relationship, even though she already had (??). This book type is just not for me. If you like smut, this one could be for you.
Merlot is an up and coming Broadway actress. Finally back in NYC following the ending of a tour, she’s excited to see her best friends Luc and Alec again, and get away from her trainwreck of an ex. Luc and Alec are so happy to have Merlot home, seeing how much they missed her, the couple surprise Merlot with their secret and an invitation to the event of the year. Luc and Alec’s secret brings more questions to Merlot’s mind. You see, she loves them both, but when they ask her to move in with them and be in a poly relationship, she’s not sure it’s something she can do. This is my first poly menage, and I was pleasantly surprised with the care that the authors took when explaining how the relationship is supposed to work. The authors wrote a sensitive and loving story, it was a very safe way for me to see how a relationship like this is meant to be. I loved how Merlot was gently eased into everything, and I loved her quizzical and loving nature. I also loved how both men treated her, making sure that she was taken care of and her needs met.
I love the concept and the characters but the book needs proper editing. Missing letters or punctuation makes it hard to follow at times. While steamy, some of the scenes aren’t possible or make no sense based on the geography of body parts. Trigger warnings (mostly just alluding to past trauma): emotional manipulation, physical abuse, absentee parents. #MMF #friendstolovers #throuple #whychoose #bdsm
This was another I pushed through... and then I found out it was a sequel, so I pushed through tonfind out about Alec's past and what they do to Jamie and it didn't even say. *sigh* Also, the "best night of her life" was really not that steamy. Maybe it was just because they were sober? Lol. I don't know. I was not overly impressed with this book and will not be revisiting the series.
They each have somethings that they all are hiding. I hope that they find it in themselves to reveal their pasts to each other so that they can continue with their relationship with each other.
This book broke my heart, frustrated me and made me happy cry. I got very invested in their story. It is an unconventional romance but still sweet all the same.
The majority of the book is Merlot, the FMC, repeating the same things over and over. “You guys are gay, how can you want me?” Even after they’ve told her repeatedly that they’re bi. I mean, she doesn’t even give them agency over their own sexuality! The set up was weird; she realizes that her boyfriend and best friend are into each other after a semi-drunken threesome one night, like several years prior to the beginning of the book. And she leaves to let them have their relationship, and there’s no anger over it. That could have been a good point to get some interesting traction out of. The FMC is supposed to be an actress in New York City singing in an touring Broadway show. How can she be so I knowledgeable about everything but MF vanilla stuff? How is she so unexposed? The fun times are pretty tame and not really anything to write home about. I won’t be reading the next book. The writing was ok, even if it was repetitive and lacked any really strong emotion. There’s zero angst, even though there’s supposed to be, there’s no real emotional investment. I bought this book, but probably won’t buy any of the others. If you’re looking for a hot MMF poly romance, this isn’t it.
Merlot is an up-and-coming Broadway actress who has been away from the Big Apple on tour. Finally back in NYC following the ending of that tour, she’s excited to see her best friends Luc and Alec again, and get away from her train wreck of an ex. Luc and Alec are so happy to have Merlot home, seeing how much they missed her, the couple surprise Merlot with their secret and an invitation to the event of the year. Luc and Alec’s secret brings more questions to Merlot’s mind. You see, she loves them both, but after a drunken one-night stand with the pair of them years ago, she’s stayed out of their relationship. Now they’re not only asking her to move in with them, they’re asking her to be in a relationship with them. This is my first poly menage, and I was pleasantly surprised with the care that the author took when explaining how the relationship is supposed to work. This is a sweet, sexy, and slightly naughty read. There are hints to mildly darker themes to come, but I think it will remain primarily more on the sweeter side. Luc and Alec have an adoringly loving relationship together, a pair meant to care for one another. Merlot loves them both and is terrified of hurting them, ruining what they've built. The sentiment is great, because if you truly love and care for someone you want what is best for them. That said, it was a touch repetative in that regard; despite them telling her over and over that they *both* love her and need her, she constantly went right back to "but I don't want to ruin what they've built" throughout the book as if they weren't utterly clear they both wanted her. Honestly, I had more of a "I'm afraid of what loving them both could mean" kind of vibe, and that felt like it would have been more honest so to speak since she clearly loved them both and wanted them both too. Beyond that, the story itself is super sweet and I enjoyed it! I always like a good MFM/MMF.
