Wild Fire #1

All the Afters

Rate this book
I’m falling in love with a firefighter, and I’m pregnant.
Big problem: It’s not his baby.

When I met Griffin Cannon, I fainted. He saved me from face-planting into the gravel. He’s the rescue-y, protective type, which fits seeing as he’s a hotshot firefighter.

I didn’t think I’d ever see him after that. Until he saves me again. Just when I think maybe fate is trying to throw me into his arms, my life skids sideways in a big way. I’m pregnant. The guy who should step up skips town instead.

Scrambling, I accept a new job and move. I figure Griffin is in my rear-view mirror, yet fate brings him back into my life. I’m working for his brother and Griffin’s the newest smokin’ hot firefighter in town. He can have any woman he wants, while I’m busy learning how to live without sleep and win awards for the most-frumpy single mom ever.

And yet, Griffin wants to cook me dinner. From changing diapers to so much more, he’s there as I stumble through the stress-fest of my life. I don’t even believe in love. But when a firefighter with a heart of gold does the dishes, it’s near impossible to resist.

Griffin & Tish’s story is perfect for readers who love: protective firefighters, slow burn, he falls first, workplace romance, boss’s brother, small town gossip, emotional romance with a dash of angst, oodles of swoon, and a golden retriever hero who takes protecting the woman he loves as the most important job in his life.

The first book in a new series by JH Croix. The Wildfire series begins with Griffin and Tish, and we are back in Willow Brook, Alaska.

The first time they meet she faints, and he is there to make sure she does not fall. The attraction is there, but they agree to part. If they cross paths again, it will be a sign. He has been her white night more than once, but the timing or complications keep them from dating. Things change as they both find themselves in Willow Brook as time has passed.

I loved the slow burn to the story, and catching up with many of our friends from previous series. A romance neither of our characters expected makes for a great read.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Are you kidding me with this?

There are two characters, the H is with one when he sees h, then, in his POV, the other arrives and we're told his name. Again, the H's POV. These two male characters have the SAME LAST NAME! -- it's Fox, not exactly common.

The two Foxes greet each other. And then the H asks, "You two know each other?"

The second Fox - "We're cousins."

I am not kidding. This happened. Is it that far of a stretch that two men with the same last name -- which the H is aware of -- to where he couldn't figure this out?

Also, we're told umpteen times that the H has a twin brother, Wyatt. Tell us once. We'll remember. I promise.

Another - "Archer's known him since they were kids." That's because they're cousins, idiot. (Side note: This was not from the h, but to her.)

Every time Tish needs help, Griffin is there to pick her up (literally). He's attracted to her, but she's his brother's assistant at their family company. She's attracted to him, but she's got more pressing issues than dating and falling in love. She's about to become a single parent, and who wants to take on that kind of responsibility? Their jobs have them moving out of Fireweed Harbor at different times, to Willow Brook, but they end up in the same place eventually. There's no denying the attraction and chemistry between them. Even after Tish reveals her pregnancy, Griffin is not dissuaded from a relationship with her. He's patient and helpful, compassionate and loving. Theirs might have been a slow burn to start, but they sure ramped it up! They definitely belong together.

It was great catching up with familiar faces in Willow Brook. I love how the author weaves those characters into this story and sees how they've faired, especially sassy Allie!

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

The first time they meet, Griffin becomes Tish’s knight in shining armor when he rescues her from a fainting spell. A few years later, they encounter each other again and he rescues her again. 😆

Unfortunately, Tish gets into a situation where she is not ready to start a new relationship with Griffin. I was so angry at Paul! It was the ultimate betrayal of trust.

The chapters featuring #momguilt were so real and I went through the same journey when my maternity leave ended and I had to stop breastfeeding and “give up” time with my baby. Thanks for giving airtime to this important topic.

Griffin was the ultimate cinnamon roll hero, not just by literally saving her life, but also being a good caregiver to Teddy, cooking for her and even accompanying her during those late night wake-ups!

A chance meeting on the side of the highway is the start of a relationship between Griffin and Tish that is years in the making.
This is a really sweet, slow burn romance. He’s a protective firefighter who falls hard for Tish from the start, a woman who turns out to be his brothers PA and technically off limits.
Changes in their circumstances have them independently moving towns and back in each other’s lives, only now Tish is a single mum, but that doesn’t stop Griffin’s determination to win her over and make her his.
There’s a lot of mum stuff in this, a little but of drama with Teddy’s (Tish’s son) sperm donor, but largely it’s just a sweet, small ten romance.

Griffin and Tish's romance was sinfully swoony and deeply emotional. This book gets this new series off to an excellent start and I am eager to continue reading future entries. If you are looking for a book that offers big feels you need to grab this one ASAP.

Cute but short

A very cute story but also very short. I was left with wanting a lot more. Tish was a little underwhelming as a female lead. Griffin was a big male that needed more context. Overaklea good read but very quick.

All The Afters is the 1st book in the Wild Fire Series by J.H. Croix. This was the first book by J.H. Croix and I have to say that there was something about this book and something about Griffin that just pulls at my heart.

Griffin is the last of the Canon siblings to get married, he's told his sister that he's just not ready to settle down yet. Personally I think that this has more to do with the fact that he's a hotshot firefighter who knows that his job is dangerous and he worries about leaving a family behind.

Tish has moved from Seattle to Fireweed in order to work for Griffin's brother Rhys. Griffin and Tish accidentally meet at this lookout point, it's on this scenic drive in Alaska. Because of a medical disorder Tish ends up fainting and Griffin catches her before she can face plant on the gravel. When she finally regains conciseness, she explains to Griffin that she's fine. Griffin tries to get Tish to give him her name but she only gives him her first name, she tells him that if they meet again then it is meant to be.

Because Tish works for Rhys and she knows Wyatt, who happens to know Griffin's twin, Tish is at the re-commitment ceremony at the Fireweed Harbour. While at the re-commitment ceremony Tish somehow ends up falling into the water and her dress gets caught. Griffin is the only one who jumps into the cold water and manages to save her. And in saving her, Griffin and Tish share the best kiss of their lives, although Tish does worry that Griffins brother is her boss.

Soon after that Tish finds out that she is pregnant with another man's child and she decides to move to move to Willow Brook to work as the Admin for Fireweed Industries getting things set up, organized, and running there.

After Tish moves Griffin gets a promotion to work as the Superintendent of one of the Hotshot Crews in Willow Brook. Tish and Griffin end up having a chance meeting at the Fireweed Cafe while Griffin is having coffee with friends and coworkers. Tish is just going back to work after having her son Teddy.

Now that they are both working in the same place Griffin wants to try and get to know Tish better, and he doesn't care that she has her son. Griffin would be happy to take care of them both. Besides that, he's good at changing diapers and he's more than happy to make her favorite meal, mac and cheese. Slowly Tish realizes that she can't fight it anymore and she tells him that yes, she would be so happy to have him take care of her and Teddy for the rest of their lives.

I have to say that this was such a stunning start for the Wild Fire Series. I have to say that I greatly enjoyed this book. I loved all the characters that I got to meet in this book. They are well developed, well fleshed out, grow through the book and they have great character arcs.

If you are looking for a great book that is going to take you out of your every day life and give you a bit of relaxation this is the book you've been looking for.

This is book one in The Wildfire series and it is Griffin and Trish’s story and what a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. Griffen and Trish meet at a sight stop on the way to Alaska when Trish suddenly faints and Griffen catches her and they said if they meet again it is a sign. Griffen and Tish meet again when she falls in the harbor and it is Griffen that once again saves her and even though they are both attracted to each other Tish works for Griffin’s brother and feels that it is not right for them to see each other because her life was settled and she didn’t want to disturb it and be without a job. Griffen had grown up in Wildfire Harbor and his family owns companies in the town and also other places but Griffen is a hotshot firefighter and loves his job and wants to do that as long as possible before retiring and going to work for the family and when he meets Tish again he realised that he wanted to get to know her more. Tish works hard for Rhys the CEO of Wildfire Industries as his assistant and when a new job offer comes she decides to move to Willow Brook to start a new job and life especially after finding out she is pregnant with her ex Paul’s baby after he walked away so now with the help and support of friends and colleagues she had Teddy and even though life had been difficult she wouldn’t be without Teddy because he is her world so you can imagine her surprise when Griffen and his hotshot firefighters are transferred to Willow Brook and he spends a lot of time with Tish and Teddy while helping out and feelings between Griffen and Tish start to grower with every day that they spend together only for her ex Paul to come back and not only threaten her but also become a nuisance which is making everything in her life even more complicated but how will it all end in the long run. Griffen and Tish are so perfect together and for each other and with the help and support from the people that are important to them you find yourself hoping that they can get the happiness and future that they all deserve and become a family. Wow I absolutely love this book and I read it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next for them. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

This is the book I have waited for in this series. There is just something about Griffin that pulls on my heartstrings. It doesn't hurt that he is a Hotshot Firefighter. He is the last of the Canon siblings to get married. He tells his sister he isn't ready to settle down. Tish moves from Seattle to Fireweed to work for Griffin's brother Rhys. They meet by chance at a lookout point on a scenic drive in Alaska. She faints because of a medical disorder and Griffin catches her before she face plants it on the gravel. When she comes too, she explains she is fine. Griffin would like her name and she only gives him her first name, telling him if they meet again it is meant to be.

Since she works for Rhys and knows Wyatt, Griffin's twin, she is at the recommitment ceremony at the Fireweed Harbor. Somehow she falls into the water and her dress is caught. Griffin is the one to jump into the cold water to once again save her. Along the way, they share a kiss, the best kiss of their lives, she is worried that Griffin is her boss's brother.

Tish finds out she is pregnant with another man's baby and moves to Willow Brook to work as the Admin for Fireweed Industries getting things up and running there. In the meantime, Griffin decides to work as a Superintendent of a Hotshot Crew in Willow Brook. They have a chance meeting at the Fireweed Cafe while having coffee with friends and coworkers. She is just going back to work after having Teddy.

Griffin wants to get to know Tish better, never mind she has a baby. He wants to take care of them both. Plus he is good at changing diapers and makes her favorite meal, mac and cheese. She can't fight it anymore and tells him that yes he can take care of her and Teddy for life.

A great ending for the Canon Family Series and a great start for the Wild Fire Series. I enjoy the books by J.H. Croix. She has wonderful characters that show up again and again. If you are looking for a good book to take you away for a little relaxation, this is the book for you.

All The Afters by J.H. Croix is the first book I've read by this author, and I must say, it was a pleasant introduction to her style. The book kicks off The Wildfire series, and it serves as a heartwarming yet complicated romance between Griffin, a hotshot firefighter, and Tish, a hardworking assistant navigating single motherhood. Their slow-burn connection is captivating, filled with moments of both hesitation and undeniable chemistry.

The story follows Tish as she moves to Willow Brook for a fresh start after becoming pregnant with her ex's child, while Griffin, a dedicated firefighter, slowly integrates himself into her and her son Teddy's life. I loved how Griffin’s protective nature extended beyond Tish to Teddy, which added depth to his character and gave the romance extra emotional weight. The Alaska setting and small-town dynamics were also wonderfully portrayed, giving the novel a cozy feel.

One of the highlights for me was how Croix weaves in real-life challenges like single parenthood, health conditions like Tish’s syncope, and the tension that comes from past relationships. The slow-building relationship between Tish and Griffin felt organic, with their obstacles creating just the right amount of tension without feeling overdramatic. And the interactions between the side characters—especially the teasing and support among friends and family—added warmth and humor to the story.

The reason I’m giving this book 4 stars instead of 5 is that while the pacing of their romance was satisfying, some parts felt a little predictable, and Tish’s reluctance to fully embrace Griffin at times felt repetitive. That being said, I was still hooked from start to finish and can’t wait to read more in this series, especially after falling for the charming characters of Fireweed Harbor and Willow Brook.

If you enjoy sweet, small-town romances with relatable characters, steamy moments, and a solid sense of community, this book is definitely worth a read!

Starting Over

This love story is so special in so many ways. Griffin first meets Tish at a breath-taking rest stop where she faints in his arms. When she awakens, she downplays the lightheadedness & fainting spell. She is thankful towards him but is guarded, not wanting to start a new friendship as she doesn’t want to be burned like in her last relationship that she left behind in Seattle. She does tell him, “How about if we ever see each other again, we can take that as a sign?” Who would ever have thought they would indeed meet again?

Griffin is a firefighter in Alaska. He’s hot in every way. Right from their first meeting, their feelings towards each other starts as a slow burn & builds up to an inferno of love. He’s quite the gentleman, being very attentive & protective towards Tish & her baby son, Teddy. Griffin dotes on him, takes care of his needs & loves him as if he was his own biological son. He finds he’s attracted to her & takes the time to get to know her in every way.

Trish is the single mom, returning to work & leaving Teddy at daycare is stressful. She has little time to spare to fit in a guy who wants to be with her. Besides, why would he want her & another man’s child? Griffin doesn’t give up so he helps Tish lessen her anxiety levels, ensures she gets more rest, nourishment & reassuring her that she’s a good mom. With a surprising twist, Teddy’s biological dad locates Tish creating havoc in her life once again. Will Tish’s new life of happiness in Alaska be torn apart, leaving her broken? Will there be any pieces left to pick up?

Ms. Croix is so descriptive that everything feels so real to the reader. You feel their emotions, their touches (like their first kiss which was so special, loving & tender), to the beauty of Alaska’s small towns & close-knit residents who welcome her, making friends along the way. This is a great first book of this series.

I volunteered to read this ARC & leave an honest review.

It's an all new series but there are so many familiar faces!

All the Afters is the first book in the Wild Fire series by J.H. Croix and it's bringing together Griffin Cannon- the last of the single Cannon siblings while also bringing us back to Willow Brook and all the hot shot firefighters that have previously found love there. This book of course still works as a stand alone, it's just fun to basically catch up with all the other secondary characters again!

As I got through the first few chapters of this book I found myself thinking that Griffin and Tish were set on this path to basically be star-crossed lovers, always just passing each other by despite this pull and connection that niggled at each of them. Thankfully they get to move past that point but not until Griffin finds himself relocated to Willow Brook where Tish is with her 5 month old son, Teddy.

For the most part, once we finally get these two in the same place and Tish is no longer directly working under Griffin's brother Rhys- the story is pretty easy and the pieces just fall into place perfectly. For never really looking for or wanting a long lasting relationship, Griffin kind of swoops in with a pretty swoony presence. He easily and willingly jumps in wanting to care for Tish and helping with Teddy in a way that you wouldn't expect from a guy that didn't want the family thing. I loved that Tish, while surprised at Griffin's appearance yet again in her life- finally stopped fighting the pull between them.

While things of course can't be all sunshine and rainbows- the little pops of drama or suspense add just enough disruption to keep things interesting but not completely overthrow or overshadow the sweet, easy love connection that these two share.

Love the little tease between Hudson and Stella at the end, giving just enough to get me excited for when their book comes next.

All The Afters by J H Croix is part of the Wildfire series which takes place in Alaska. Sometimes you meet someone, for just a moment, and never forget them. Griffin and Tish met a lookout when they were both stopping for a breather. She fainted; he caught her. Griffin didn’t mention his last name and Tish didn’t mention her new job. They didn’t see one another for quite a while until one of his brothers’ weddings. There was a commotion down on the dock. She’d fainted again, but this time fell into the water and got her dress caught. She was struggling. He jumped in. Nope. That time didn’t do it either. He visited his older brother at the office where he found Tish was his assistant. Yup, she did it again. He caught her, again and insisted on walking her home. She had syndrome called syncope in which her blood pressure would drop unannounced and she would faint. It made him nervous. It didn’t seem to bother her. When they reached her place they both let down the guards and gave in to the kiss that they both wanted. It was beyond fabulous, but Tish was wary: he was the brother of her boss, so she broke it off and explained her reasoning. He saw it and he left, but he was not happy about it.

The relationship between the two took some twists and turns and really didn’t come to fruition for another couple of years, when they had both moved to Willow Brook. Griffin has his own problems but had learned to deal with them as had Tish. As always Croix turns the most ordinary people into a memorable romance. She manages to bring things like syncope, dyslexia, and sexual abuse into a heart-warming love story full of hotness and friendship. It’s fabulous to learn to things and experience differences while reading such a fun book. Good gob JH Croix! Again!

I was invited to read All the Afters by JH Croix. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #JHCroix #AllTheAfters

Loving the cover art 🥰 it’s a new series but we’re still Fireweed Harbor , Alaska and it’s so good to be back ❣️

Tish heads to Alaska for a new start , she’s at a little viewing rest stop when she greets her surroundings and I can imagine her shock when she hears a greeting back 🤣and let’s just add it’s not an echo but the very delectable Griffin🫣🔥

She struggles with syncope and when she has a spell fortunately Griffin is on hand to help and already I’m weak at the knees 🤣🙈I’m such a weakling but what can I say he’s hard to resist 🤷‍♀️🤩but their path cross at that time but fear not they do meet up a few years later ….

Again by accident , as Tish fell into the icy cold waters of the Harbor , while walking in the docks , Griffin is on hand to come to get rescue ( swoon ) and it’s then when they discover she’s his brother’s assistant ! He’s back in Firewood with a team of hotshot firefighters , they share a bit of small talk before heading to work .

Then Griffin kisses her the first time and I’m lost in these 2 beautiful people and I invest my everything in them , I think I was their biggest cheerleader while reading 🥰🤣

Tish had a bad experience with a guy named Paul whom she met on a dating site but his decisions left her with a permanent gift and now she trying to run from Griffin but he’s supportive , loving , patient , kind and everything she could want or need in a man 🥰

Look don’t get me wrong their journey wasn’t all sunshine and roses and there was a bit of suspense and drama but nothing to hectic 😉

It was nice to know what author was on about when she made references to the past and it was even better to visit Spill the Beans and virtually samples their goods 🤩😉

We are left with a little tid bit , just to keep anxiety at bay , Hudson and Stella 🥰 your story is next 😉

Griffin is a hotshot firefighter and the last single Cannon sibling. Tish is new to Alaska and meets Griffin at an overlook when he saves her from face planting in the gravel. When Griffin asks Tish for her phone number, Tish refuses and says it would be meant to be if they see each other again. Griffin and Tish run into each other again when Griffin rescues Tish when she falls off the dock and into the water at his brother's wedding. Griffin and Tish are attracted to each other and share a kiss, but Tish doesn't feel it is right to date Griffin when she works for his brother, Rhys. When Tish discovers she is pregnant by her ex, she accepts a new job within the company that will mean more money and more responsibility but will have her moving to Willow Brook. Tish is surprised to see Griffin in Willow Brook and more surprised to learn his hot shot crew has moved to Willow Brook. Will a baby deter Griffin from pursuing Tish? Will Tish finally give into her attraction to Griffin? Will Griffin take a step back when Tish decides to handle her ex and his parents on her own? Will Griffin and Tish realize that what is most important when he and other firefighters are hurt when their plane crashes? I loved All The Afters by J.H. Croix! Griffin and Tish are an amazing couple with scorching hot chemistry who finally get their happily ever after. I loved seeing the other hotshot firefighters and their significant others interacting with Griffin and Tish and bringing them into their friendship group. All The Afters is a great start to the Wild Fire series. I would highly recommend getting All The Afters by J.H. Croix. Tish and Griffin’s relationship is an illustration of a very slow, smoulder. There are lots of sparks and interest when they first meet and at their second meeting a few years later, but neither is the right time or circumstance. Tish is not ready to start a new relationship when she is dealing with the consequences of the last relationship…an unplanned pregnancy. Now, over a hear later, she is the mother of a five month old baby boy and is working and living in a new town, Willow Brook. Griffin and his hot shot team will be working out of Willow Brook and he hopes to reconnect with Tish. Even though she is a new mother, Griffin is still interested in getting to know Tish better and seeing if the sparks between can become a flame. Fortunately, Tish wants to see that too. That smouldering becomes a blaze and both can’t seem to stay away from each other.

I love the chemistry between Tish and Griffin and their instant connection. The fact that they still feel that connection years later and despite the change in circumstances proves it is meant to be. Griffin’s easy interaction with Tish’s son is heart-melting. I also enjoyed the interactions among the friends and his family in both Fireweed Harbor and Willow Brook. They look out for each other as well as tease, and offer advice and support when needed. The small town setting where everybody knows your business is always entertaining and heartwarming.

I highly recommend this heartwarming book and all the previous books featuring the Cannon family. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

The final Cannon brother finds his girl in this Wildfire Series starter. Although it could have been an ender for the Fireweed Harbor series as his twin, Wyatt, found his match in the last book in that series. But there's a lot of moving around and a lot of time passes in this book so I can see that it makes a good starter for the new series.

Griffin is still a hotshot firefighter in Alaska and moves around a lot. He's happy with his life and job despite the fact that his family want him to work for their company. He meets a girl at a scenic lookout and she makes a lasting impression on him.
"The few minutes I'd spent in this woman's company had been electrifying."

Tish is starting a new job in Fireweed Harbor. She's enjoying her drive through Alaska's fantastic scenery and stops at a lookout. There she meets a guy who has also stopped for the view.
"Standing before me was a man so handsome and rugged, it was as if Alaska had delivered him up to me on a platter."

This story made me question everything. Is there such a thing as fate? Is it better to take the path of least resistance or risk everything? What about timing? When's the 'right time'? It's obvious within the first couple of chapters that there's an attraction between them, but this is a very slow burn.

I love this author's small town romances against the breathtaking Alaskan backdrop. The characters are incredibly well written. This book had all that and very loveable and well-rounded main characters.

I recently finished reading All the Afters by J.H. Croix, and I have to say, it was a delightful experience! This book is the first in the Wild Fire series, and it beautifully combines a charming small-town setting with an engaging romance that kept me hooked from beginning to end.

The chemistry between Griffin and Tish is absolutely palpable. Their relationship unfolds in such a genuine way that I found myself emotionally invested in their journey. Croix has a knack for creating heartwarming moments that really tug at the heartstrings, making me root for them every step of the way.

One of the aspects I loved most about this book is its light-hearted tone. It provided a refreshing escape, perfect for when I wanted something sweet and uplifting. The pacing was just right, keeping the story moving without any lulls that might have dragged it down.

That said, I did notice some familiar romance tropes that felt a bit predictable at times. While this didn’t detract too much from my enjoyment, I could see how some readers might find certain plot elements a little too familiar. However, Croix’s unique flair kept things engaging enough for me to stay invested.

Overall, I would rate All the Afters 4 stars. It’s a charming read filled with swoony moments and relatable characters, making it perfect for anyone looking to escape into a world of romance and small-town charm. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here!

A fairly fast-paced read. While this is the first book in a new series it is interconnected with two other series and has many supporting characters that were featured in previous books.

Griffin Cannon is one of many Cannon siblings and cousins, the last remaining single sibling. He briefly meets Tish at a rest stop and he catches her from face planting in the gravel when she faints. They don’t see each other for about a year when he rescues her after falling in the icy water of the harbor. He learns she’s his brother’s executive assistant and other than a sizzling hot kiss these two don’t connect again for nearly two years.

After the initial run ins between Griffin and Tish over a couple years, the story bounces forward when they are both living in Willow Brook. Tish is now a single mother to a 5 month old son and the attraction and connection between Tish and Griffin is still electric. They quickly go from seeing each other again to being very involved.

The storyline is entertaining and full of events and drama to keep readers curious what will happen next. Tish and Griffin are well matched and fit together exceptionally well. Griffin is super willing to help Tish with anything she needs, including helping to take care of her son.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As we start this new series, we get to see some familiar faces as we head back to Willow Brook for some hotshot firefighting. This book can certainly be read as a standalone. Our swoony hero steps in to be the white knight and though not looking for relationship he can't seem to keep away. A few change meetings and decision to keep the line drawn due to business, changed when they find themselves in a new town with a little more breathing room.

As Tish is working to navigate the single mom going back to work things. While working through her mom guilt for leaving her little guy with day care. She also finds herself dealing with the sperm donor as she hope she would never have to. All the while Griffin is right there beside her to help her as she adjusts. Along with the new found support system in this new town.

Griffin is not quite done being a firefighter just yet and finds himself landed in Willow Brook on a new crew. When he first runs into Tish, those familiar sparks are zapping. This leading him to follow his gut and reach out to her. Things move more quickly than anyone expected, even with the addition of little Teddy.

Snuggle up and fall into Willow Brook for some cozy romance. Can't wait to see what comes next.

This story travels over time. The MC’s meet a couple times over the years and their meet cutes are always so fun.

Tish left Seattle to move to Alaska; she wanted to live in a more rural small town. Stopping at a rest stop, thinking she’s alone, she takes in the view and twirls. Just so happy to have clean air and be surrounded by Alaska’s nature. Until she is spotted by a guy. She’s shocked to see someone at the rest stop but thank goodness he was there because she faints. Having a disorder that has her blood pressure drop rapidly that causes her to have fainting spells. She meets Griffin.

Griffin is the last single sibling and he’s also a firefighter. He’s always helping and is just a kind person. Griffin is intrigued by Tish and asks her out but she said, if it’s meant to be they will meet each other again. They do. At his brother’s wedding. Another fainting spell. It was definitely a pattern.

Tish and Griffin share a great kiss but she’s now working for his brother and doesn’t want to blend the lines. She then finds out she’s pregnant by a one night stand and she moves within the company and to a new location. A year later, Griffin ends up moving to her new town as well.

If I was single or a single mom, I would definitely want Griffin as my MC.

Small town
Close family

Secret Accidental Pregnancy

Cute Small Town Read

In the first book of this spin-off series, J.H. Croix introduces us to Griffin, the hotshot firefighter, and Tish, a new mom who's suddenly single. While the storyline didn't totally grab me, I have to admit it was told really well, so I was willing to go with it.

Griffin and Tish keep running into each other in their small town, and naturally, they decide to get to know one another better. After a first kiss, Tish discovers she’s pregnant, and the dad is nowhere to be found. On top of that, she’s also Griffin’s brother’s assistant, which definitely complicates things. But Griffin? He’s all in from day one. It’s sweet, but I found it a bit frustrating at times.

Honestly, I didn’t feel super invested in either character. They were just… there. Nothing too special, in my opinion. Still, I appreciated that Griffin was such a nice guy, stepping up for a girl he’d only kissed once who now has a baby to look after. Kudos to him! As their relationship unfolds, there’s some light angst, which usually I’d want the guy to work harder for it, but Griffin seemed to be doing enough.

The writing is solid, and we get to meet pretty much everyone in the small town, along with Griffin’s big family. “All the Afters” sets up the series nicely, and I wouldn’t mind checking out what happens next!

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time. I really liked Griffin and Tish and thought they were very cute. They have an immediate connection when Griffin saves Tish the first time but they don't end up exchanging numbers and leave it up to fate. When they run into each other a second time and he steps to save her again they take a step in that direct with a kiss though her boss is Griffin's brother so she is nervous about that. Then she finds out she's pregnant and asks for a different job and moves, leaving Griffin behind with no communication. Until he comes back into her life again and doesn't run when he finds out she has a baby. It was so cute and adorable the way that Griffin stepped in and wanted to help and take care of both Tish and her baby. It didn't scare him away and she stops running from it and accepts it and their connection now that she isn't working directly under his brother anymore. I loved how easy their connection was between once they were in the same place and baby secret was out. They have obstacles that they have to overcome but it never changed that easy connection they had. This was a cute story and a great start to a new series. If you have read some of JH Croix's other series you will definitely see some familiar characters though and that is just an added bonus to get to catch up with them.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Destined to be together
Griffin Cannon is the last of the Cannons still single. He doesn't think he'll ever find anyone for him. He meets Tish when they were both at an overlook. She fainted and he caught her. She didn't give her number to him even though she wanted - they decided that if they saw each other again that it was meant to be. Well, they did see each other again at his brother's wedding as she fell into the water and needed rescued. She really wanted to go out with him but didn't think it was appropriate since he's the brother of her boss. They shared a kiss that was fantastic. Tish has found out that she's pregnant and asks for a transfer to a better job within the company. She moves and time passes. Griffin sees her again and finds out that she has a baby. That doesn't deter him. Tish tries to fight her attraction to Griffin but can't. I really liked this story. I thought Griffin was the best since he didn't run when he found out that Tish had a baby. He takes care of Tish and the baby. I thought this was a wonderful start to this series even though we see a lot of people from previous books. I'm looking forward to the next book. I received an early copy to read and review from Booksprout. I'm leaving my honest review.

All The Afters is book one in The Wildfire Series and I was so excited to be in Fireweed Harbor, Alaska for Griffin and Trish’s entertaining and at times emotional journey. I think all that needs to be said is, if this book is anything to go by J.H. Croix will certainly have another hit series on her hands. Their story is the perfect start to the new series.
Griffin and Trish meet when she is on her way to Fireweed Harbor, a chance meeting has him caching her when she faints and they joke saying if they ever meet again it’s fate…..
It seems fate is intent on pushing these two together because Griffin saves Trish once again when she falls into the Harbor. But the timing for these two is way off and when Trish finds herself pregnant with another man’s baby she moves to Willow Brook to start a new life as a single mum. So will fate intervene once again and will Griffin and Trish ever be on the same page when it comes to relationships, one click to find out.
This is a great start to the new series, it’s a captivating story with wonderful characters, it’s emotional and entertaining, it’s witty and full of love and passion but more importantly it’s a beautifully written love story with the perfect amount of angst. Looking forward to what’s to come on my next visit to Alaska.
