The mundane life of an orphaned peasant never prepared him for this...
Dorian Hawke's daily routine was pretty straightforward. Wake up, pull his weight around the village, eat potatoes, go to bed. Not too shabby. Not very interesting, maybe, but it was honest work.
Then a boat falls like a meteor from the sky.
Next thing he knows, a gorgeous elf and stunning faun tell him that magical blood runs through his veins, and they need him to navigate their ship through space.
Not a day later he's netherborne, flying his former lord's yacht through the stars, battling goblin pirates, working for orcish crime lords, and dealing with the drama of two beautiful women who both want his attention. Whole new worlds are opening for Dorian, and he slowly accepts that he might just be who they say he is.
But when he partners with a flirty demonic powder mage for a routine cargo delivery, he realizes that for all the freedom this new lifestyle offers...the danger is on even footing.
Probably one of my more favourite reads. The adventure itself is great, work the setting essentially being spelljammer, and limitless encounters available for future stories. The adventure is fun, light hearted, and the characters are cute, with fable being the obvious pick of the pack, and with a bit of more characterization melia would be a bit more charming or relatable. I honestly wish this becomes a series like solar dragons, I prefer this setting overall more, with the exploration aspects being more the focus than picking up another girl every novel
Keep in mind this is really a fun fantasy novel, and if that's what you're looking for it's great - not overly heavy or full of needless melodrama, and it's a great bit of escapism.
This book was pretty good. The MC comes from maybe an Iron Age world here he is a peasant that picks up skills easily. A space faring ship crashes, and when he investigates, he finds two hot women on the wrecked ship. And just like that, he's a space navigation genius.
The MC is pretty good, but is so OP that some scenes are comically easy for him to overcome the situation.
The harem, which is 3 by the end of the book, is just ok. While they have different personalities and mannerisms, they don't really pop from the pages. Plus, 3 romances in a single book means everything is watered down.
The book is really well written and edited, with only a few minor errors noted.
Your own spaceship to be a privateer/pirate, this will be the next best thing! This was a great collaboration between the two authors. The writing works seamlessly and creates a story with some beautiful imagery and interesting ways of sailing through the Black. The characters are fun and lighthearted enough to easily pull you in, but their stories have depth to them that will have you cheering for them. I enjoyed reading this book and definitely recommend picking this up to read!
An eclectic mix of sci-fi and fantasy. Space ships and dragons odd mix, but I am also looking for new ideas like this. Tone is also odd, slice of life doesn’t gel well with the higher tension points that you would normally associate with a “pirate” series. Chemistry was a little fast and loose, but the characters do feel distinct enough that I’m not going to knock off any stars for, loose 4 with the ending. We’ll see what the plot development looks like, hopefully this is a longer series. Lots of potential for world building here.
A pretty great start to a harem series from this author!!
I've read a few books from this author now and I must say this is one of the better ones and close to being my favorite of what I've read from this author so far. Its a bit more adventurous in nature with having space pirates and all but still fun to read the space battles and a bit of lore building. Some of the dialogue could use some work as I felt Melia being pushed into the background in the second half of the book. It's a great setup for the next installment so I'll be reading on!!!
Let me just say I'm a fan of both authors individually and their work on this was amazing. This story exudes adventure and wonder in a little under 300 pages. The romance is nice if a little shallow feeling at times but considering this seems to be the start of a series I look forward to seeing these relationships deepen as the crew continues with their voyages.
(Audible.) This was more fantasy than SF and was very cute. However, fantasy is not one of my favorite genres. The adventures grow from start to finish as the relationships also grow from flirting to explicit sex at the end. The vocalizations were extraordinary. I probably won't read follow up books, though, because I do not particularly like this genre of books.
Short and fun! D&D fantasy in space. Magitech, pirates, and romance. Shocking no one who follows Virgil, has Haremlit elements. Plot is enjoyable and interesting enough to await another book.
I really hope there's going to be more of this series!
I really lo Ed the characters and plot. Great action and enough spicy scenes to keep me entertained. I highly recommend this book and it's awesome author.
A really good mix of fantasy and soft science fiction!!! Excellent world and character building with a lot of humor mixed in with the adventures!!! I can't wait for more!!!
This was really fun to read, highly entertaining, great characters, incredibly we written. I honestly can't find a fault. Really fun. Looking forward to more.
