Demons are a part of life. Everyone knows about the demon attacks, the rifts that break open, and Guardians that come to close them. Guardians who spent years training their internal energy at academies across the world to do exactly that.
Sadie’s training was different. Her entire life has been different from the day she was born from the battlefield at Sardrov. Her every move is watched. Her every action is monitored. Her every relationship orchestrated. Because nothing is ever truly safe around a warborn. No matter how “good” they’re trying to be.
Her fate is the same as every warborn who came before blood, death, and insanity. The only question is when and if she’ll end up saving more lives than she takes. When will her control finally snap and her bloodlust be turned on the humans she used to protect? How many battles can she face before that time comes? The demon attacks are becoming more and more frequent. The body count is growing higher and higher as whispers of the apocalypse grow with it.
And the only thing standing between the world and its destruction is a monster trying to be good.

This is a stand-alone novel containing potentially triggering content including descriptions of blood, gore, torture, sexual scenes, and death. It is intended for mature audiences only. The main character is part demon herself the implications of which are not shied away from in the writing. Please consider this prior to reading.
The story buildup with characters til almost the end was very good. I enjoyed the main characters immensely. Towards the end it started to unravel? And a day later after finishing it I'm questioning many things. For one thing, my kindle doesn't generally recommend books with a religious theme. But this book's conclusion hinges on religious thoughts on forgiveness (odd really). So now I'm questioning many motivations of this author and it doesn't sit well, can feel how they've setup many things in storyline towards that. But they are huge spoilers and I've spoiled enough of this book. Definitely not my normal type of book. If the ending was revamped towards a actual ending without religious themes it would be a 5 star book. I'm going to have to watch my recommend list more carefully.
Sadie's personal experiences and struggles with right and wrong drag you in from the very beginning. Every battle internal and out makes you feel her struggles along the way!
