Amelie Benoit thrives in chaos. As an art thief, she spends her time plotting heists and finding ways to pull them off without a hitch. Flying under the radar is something she’s managed to have a hold on, until a roadblock is thrown at her in the form of her past.
Four years ago, she left a life behind. And when those things start to reappear, her chaos takes a turn in a way that she never expected…starting with the return of her ex-boyfriend.
Henry Arlington has always been intrigued by art. After getting his own exhibit in a popular museum, he gains more publicity than he anticipated, leading to his work rising in demand. But when a painting of his is stolen before a deadline, he finds himself in a predicament. One that can only be solved by someone who knows the ropes.
Amelie Benoit, Henry’s ex-girlfriend turned thorn in his side.
Despite the two’s rocky past, they both need something that only the other can give them. But once their reluctant partnership turns into a fake relationship, it gets harder to ignore what tore them apart. Will the ruse lead them closer to the truth, or will it drive them even further apart when all is said and done?

first of all, thank you Anna for sending me an arc & sorry this review is so late! this one had almost every one of my interests it's ridiculous: crime and mystery? ✔️ shocking plot twists? ✔️ romance/fake dating with a tiny bit of tension? ✔️ family drama? ✔️ CATS?? ✔️
this reads so much like the romcoms I love to watch on repeat 🩷 every single character in this was loveable (except the parents & Margot - let's not talk about them) Jen & Meg? loved their banter. Ames & Liz? can we get a novella filled with them just hanging out 🥹 and OH! Henry & Ames are such a cute cute cute couple.
Bad for Business is written in the first person POV and I rarely end up liking books written that way (the characters become annoying at some point) but that wasn't a problem here. Both Amelie & Henry are realistic, don't do stupid stuff, and there's proper communication!!
Henry Arlington puts a little bit of his girlfriend into everything he paints and the title of this book is based off a sabrina carpenter song, WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT???
i wanna start this by saying a huge THANK YOU ANNA!!! this is my first ARC and i’m so honored that i got chosen to have one
ANYWAY.
i loved this book so incredibly much.
AMELIE. she’s my literal queen. she’s so cutesy and i loved her entire mindset throughout the entire book. she was written so realistically it’s amazing you guys.
HENRYYYYY. UGH. my man fr. he was genuinely so so sweet and understanding the entire time. he was also so hopelessly in love he had me giggling and kicking my feet fr
THE PLOT?? ATE SO HARD. anna, you had me ripping my hair out and yelling “JUST KISS ALREADY” at the screen for days. i love you.
okay guys BAD FOR BUSINESS COMES OUT JULY 26TH!!!! if you’re looking for a cute romance that has literally everything (found family, an amazing playlist, and realistic characters/experiences) THEN YOU BETTER GO GET THIS THE DAY IT COMES OUT.
oh my goodness this book was too cute!! if you know me you know i like books with heists in them (cough cough six of crows) and this was PERFECT. it has that rom com movie feel to it and i instantly fell in love with the characters.
amelie and henry are SOO lovable and so very complex, and the slowburn was AMAZING. when they finally kissed i almost cried. (my notes for this book are a mess)
henry is the glasses wearing sarcastic man of my dreams (matthew gray gubler is who i imagined him as and i will not elaborate) and amelie was so incredibly relatable the WHOLE BOOK.
anyways if you like adorable romcoms and art and heists and people who won't admit they're in love, then this book IS FOR YOU.
i'm so grateful to have gotten this arc!!!!!! anyways GO GET THIS BOOK it comes out july 26th!!!!!!!!
Anna, thank you thank you thank youuu for letting me beta read bad for business (even though i had already read it), this book means absolutely everything to me and i MEAN it.
where do i start? alright first of all, this is mariana zapata level of slow burn it’s absolutely insane i was gnawing at my enclosure no seriously though??? Amelie my NUMBER ONE girl ugh what i would do to be best friends with her???
she’s seriously such an icon i mean an art thief?? you can’t get any more iconic than that but let’s say for the sale of the conversation you can BAM introduce Lizzy Arlington and there you have an iconic duo (yep yep i said it 🙌🏼)
henry oh my lovely boy he’s so down bad 98% of the time it’s actually adorable like pls make up already. no but seriously?? he’s raised the bar so high oh good lord-
both characters deserve hugs and just a life full of happiness. did i cry? oh certainly i did what kind of question is thaaaat. but we do love a good little angsty moment. anywhooo the plot oh it was amazing just art thief x artist tell me that doesn’t scream amazing to you???
secondary characters… honestly Meg and Jensen were truly just so great?? like i need a novella or even a book of them??? (wink wink) Margot on the other hand is not my favourite person as of right now…. neither is Roman but like that’s well you’ll see oncw you read 😼
i could actually ramble for decades about this book (and i’ll definitely be rereading). anyways let’s all remember that I’m Bad for Business and AmesHen’s number ONE fan 🤭(oh! also art thief magazine when??)
Anna, thank you for allowing me to read this masterpiece 🫶🏻
first of all, i want to give a huge huge huge thank you to anna for the arc copy. you own my entire heart. now, i read this book right after finishing iron flame praying it would keep me from falling into a reading slump because of how good that book was and let me tell you… this book did NOT disappoint!!! i absolutely adored the characters in this book. henry, god, i love him. he has my heart entirely. he was such a sweetheart character and being able to read from his pov made it even better. he’s definitely giving off golden retriever which i don’t normally go for but anna wrote it out so incredibly well. and then amelie… i loved her. i related so much to her on a emotional level. the way she thought about things just hit me right in the gut but in the best way. normally when i relate to a character it’ll annoy me because im trying to escape my reality not find it in something that’s meant to make me forget it. but anna did such an incredible job at making her a character you can connect to without feeling like you’re just reading part of your reality. it still felt like this amazing escape from everything and that’s hard (for me at least) to find in books. the found family in this book made my heart swell. i adored the friendships that were there, the friendships that rekindled, and the friendships that were started. it genuinely made me so happy to see. and even tho each of these character had their flaws it made you love them more. this truly was such an amazing book in my opinion. for me it was a five star read which makes me genuinely so excited to see where anna goes.
and to anna, you are going places, honey. you have a gift, never forget that. dream big and continue to do what makes you happy. i could not be more proud of you and what you have accomplished. to be able to call you a friend is an absolute pleasure. thank you for being my friend. and thank you for this book. it genuinely did touch me, and i think it’s going to have that effect on many others. love you so much, hun. keep doing big things. 💕
First of all, Anna you're everything! Thank you so much for letting me beta read and be a little part of it before it comes out to the world!💜
You definitely won't want to miss this one! So cute, so thrilling, so emotional, so funny. Hen and Ames are so precious to me!!!! Their stories and growth was so special to witness.
Okay I read this book weeks ago but I haven’t been able to put my thoughts into words until now so here we are. Official BFB review below.
🚨SPOILER WARNING🚨
OH. MY. GOD.
This book was everything to me. It’s genuinely my favorite read of the year so far. It’s so well written and the attention to detail when it comes to the characters and their progression throughout the story is so good. You can kind of just tell throughout the book that every single detail has a purpose. From the way Amelie dresses to the way Henry’s thoughts are expressed, everything comes into play later on.
SPEAKING OF THE LOML. I need Henry Arlington BIBLICALLY. I need a cardboard cutout of him in my room. I am embarrassingly obsessed with him. Hes THE book boyfriend. The way he thinks about Amelie? The way he does stuff for her even though she doesn’t ask him to? The way he is around Lizzy and Betty? I need him NEOW.
I want to be Ames when I grow up. She is such a baddie. I love that she has such a girly personality and feminine persona, and then the second she starts on a job, she like flips a switch and enters baddie work mode. “Does it look like I’m hiding a canvas in my bra?” is one of my favorite lines of hers. She had me giggling for like half the book.
LIZZY IS ME AND I AM HER. She was my absolute favorite character in this book. I adore her so much. I don’t even know what to say about her she is just such an icon. Read the book and you’ll see what I mean. She is THAT GIRL to the highest extent. Like, I couldn’t trust her with my drink at a bar, not because she’d do anything to it, but because she’d drink it on me, and then order both of us something twice as strong because “it’s more fun”. Anyways, adore her, love her, am her. All of the above. RIP ELIZABETH ARLINGTON. YOU WOULD’VE LOVED CHAPPELL ROAN AND SABRINA CARPENTER!
Meg and Jensen best couple. Power couple. Icons. That is all. Thank you.
Now that I’ve talked about all the characters, I want to address the plot for a second. The storyline of this book was so well thought out and planned. The accidental blackmail aspect fits both amelie and henry’s personalities so well. Like yes, Hen would absolutely blackmail her and then get offended when she says he blackmails her. That’s so him. Yes, her parents are absolutely also art thief icons. That’s so them. The plot twist with Margot being involved? GAGGED. Like, I knew, but I didn’t? Like part of me was like “what if” but then I wrote it off… clearly too soon but alas.
Anyways I thought I’d include some of my favorite lines from the book. Why? Because it’s MY review and I can do what I want. Enjoy :)
“Does it look like I’m hiding a canvas in my bra?”
“No one wants to hear me complain about men. I mean, I quite enjoy the task, but that’s me.”
“Poor guy, he got killed by a snake. That’s so embarrassing.”
“Do they look like good arms?”
“Betty isn’t a cat. Betty is Betty. She’s a good cat.”
“I think there was even a shadow monster.” “Maybe he took my painting.” “Maybe he did.”
“Don’t give me your silence. That’s never what I want from you.”
“Who gave you a key?” “Santa Claus.”
Anyways, read Bad for Business if you haven’t already. Please. I am begging you. Read it, and then text me every thought you’ve ever had about it. I need to know. That’s all for now.
All Hail Betty.
K Bye :)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
first off thank you so much anna bae for letting me be an arc reader for this book! it means the world to me and I love you tons!
I am very very picky with romcom books but this book was so refreshing and finally something I loved. I am always trying to read more romance novels but it’s hard to find some without the spice and the characters are older than 19! thank you anna for gifting me with henry and amelie!
amelie. I found myself relating to amelie in more ways than I would’ve liked (ouchie) she is brave, fearless, but also holds her cards to her chest and has trouble trusting people. amelie also feels a lot which made me feel a lot, she cried, i cried, she laughed I laughed. we are truly the same.
henry. oh henry. please come home the kids and I miss you dearly. I am fully convinced anna dove into my head gathered up info on my type in men and then decided to write henry. yeah this man is the man of my dreams. he also has feelings and isn’t afraid to show them? oh yeah we’re getting married. he was written so well and carefully thought out. thank you anna for bestowing me with the gift that is henry arlington.
ALRIGHT NOW. let’s get down to the nitty gritty. henry and amelie’s story was oh so beautiful. it was so realistic and nothing seemed out of place. the pining and desperation coming from both of them was insane and this was a whole new take on second chance romance which I fear is my guilty pleasure (sue me) ALSO! no one told me I would be getting slight found family?!?! GIMME MORE
anyways i’m getting this book tattooed onto me! I LOVE YOU ANNA GRACE
happy ameliehenry day to all who celebrate!!! i can’t explain how much i LOVED this book and ameliehenry! thank you so so much anna for letting me read BFB early! 💋
this book was one of the easiest 5 stars i’ve had! ameliehenry had me quite literally giggling and kicking my feet whilst simultaneously ripping my heart out. second chance get me every. single. time. and when i tell you they got me. their relationship is literally everything to me. i’m gonna be thinking about them forever. AND THEIR QUOTES. DO NOT GET ME STARTED.
amelie, oh my, where do i start?! she’s my spirit animal fr!! her personality and the way she holds herself is everything. i aspire to be amelie benoit when i’m older. i fear there’s no words to explain her character without making her sound less exciting than she is so i guess you’ll just have to read bfb to see for yourself how iconic she is!
henry. henry arlington. the man he is. first of all, cat dad! do i need to expand on that?! this man is so head over heels for amelie and i can’t get enough of it!!! no but he has my heart, he’s literally so adorable I CANNOT. i want someone to admire me the way he admires amelie. also, he’s an artist?! HELLO. artist x art thief?! COUNT ME IN.
can we discuss take a minute to discuss and appreciate meg, jen & liz?! I ADORE THEM. i’m gonna stop yapping now i just have one more thing to say! in a world where you can be anything, be betty arlington.
whatever you’re doing, whatever you’re reading, put it down and go read bad for business right this instant. this might just be my favourite arc EVER.
this books genuinely had everything. it had my interest in every way, shape and form. romance? check. plot? CHECK. suspense? mystery? on-the-edge-of-my-seat-gasping-at-the-plot-twists? check check CHECK. also guys its second chance romance. we all know that’s a major hit or miss for me but WHAT A SMASHING HIT.
amelie, my beautiful art thief. i relate to you so much. i love you and your bows and your wit and smart mouth. i aspire to be as strong as you are. HENRY. my man. my gorgeous bespectacled (yas represent!) artiste!! i pray at night to be blessed with a boyfriend as sexy, charming, talented and head over heels in love with me as you are with ames. (i can’t even begin to explain how much i love the fact that he’s also a little terrified of her)
anna your mind is beautiful, this book is beautiful, and this is me gracefully requesting you to make a signed paperback available bc i need it on my shelf.
go read this now guys oh my word. genuinely one of my favourite books all year.
🌟 Bad for Business is out NOW!!
tropes: ➛ artist x art thief ➛ second chance ➛ black tie event ➛ fake dating ➛ heists ➛ blackmail (lols) ➛ found family ➛ “you’ve always been it for me” ➛ CAT DAD
Before my review, I just wanted to say major thanks to Anna for allowing me to reading the arc of BFB it truly means the world 🥹🥹.
This book is so so so much better than I could have ever imagined, and there are so many times where I’ve taken myself outside of the BFB world just to sit back and think about Anna’s progress and how truly proud I am of her.
One of my favorite things about Bad for Business are the characters inside of it. Our two main characters, Amelie and Henry, are so enjoyable to read about and have such a natural chemistry that makes you want to read more. Amelie is honestly one of the most relatable characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about, and Henry is such an ideal man. The friendship and the platonic love seen within the book and through multiple characters was so enjoyable and sososo pleasing.
The book is not only a second-chance, slowburn romance, but was also so much more. The plot explores other genres (such as mystery and almost adventurous??) that made the book so much more than just another romance novel.
Once again, I’m so grateful to have been able to read the arc for Bad for Business AND EVERYONE BETTER HAVE THEIR WALLETS READY TO BUY BAD FOR BUSINESS ON JULY 26th!!!
so so so grateful for anna for making me a beta reader for this masterpiece of a book. this book was such an easy read and flew by so quickly! it instantly catches your attention and you just can't get enough! literally by the end of the book i couldn't believe that was it. like uhm hello where is the rest of the book?? i defiently need more. the characters are so so lovable i loved everyone in the book but obvi not amelie's sister and henry's father. nononono. like whyyyyyy. it was such a fun read and felt like adventurous at times. oh forgot! like i said the characters are so lovable specifically the friend group we have in the book, like they literally gave me like the naturals vibes. like their friendship just felt that way if you've read the naturals. i truly ate this book up. don't get me started on Henry like he is such a cutie! so down bad for amelie, like he made me blush and giggle so much. like girl amelie can you not see how obsessed this man is for y0u?!?!?! SO GOOD. this book literally got me out of my slump and made me realize how much i love reading. this book is obvi my fave and can't wait to see what miss anna grace comes out with next!
Anna Grace you wicked woman. You need to pay for my therapy bills , because this whole book was a ROLLERCOASTER!!! Anyways. I would love to thank bookstagram for introducing me to this author , because i’m immediately hooked. THIS BOOK. Look - i dont usually like second chance romance because it’s just…eh. It’s never done properly. But this? This was perfect. The way that the story unravels is so satisfying and i loved it so much. I was immediately hooked. Everything about this book had me gripping my sheets-the tension , the heists , THE LETTERS!!!!!! , the fake dating. Loved all of it. I really enjoy finding a book where the fmc is bold and actually has a lot of personality. Amelie is her own person , she isn’t just an addition to Henry , and that’s what i enjoyed a lot. And also , who doesn’t love a book where a man PINES AND YEARNS for his woman????? Henry’s muse is Amelie , she is everything to him :,). Every single aspect of this book is perfect idc. The writing style?perfection. The story unraveling? Perfect. The plot? Perfect. I fear that I will never shut up about this book Anna Grace what did you do to me.
5 ⭐️ - first off I wanna say a huge THANK YOU TO ANNA FOR SENDING ME AN ARC 🎀✨🫧 I was so excited to read this book the tropes, the fanart, the cover.. BASICALLY EVERYTHING about it lured me right in.
Lemme just tell you guys the slowburn SLOWBURNED FR likeee it had me on my toes wondering if they were gonna admit feelings for each other or kiss. This book had me hooked from the beginning I love Henry and Amelie so much they’re so cute and just wholesome.
I wanna say tho what I really love about this book is how the characters are relatable Henry having family problems and Amelie too, the book really shows those problems and how it’s not gonna always be perfect which I loved ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹.
I love this book so much and I def wanna reread, I think I found my new comfort book of the year.
One last thank you to Anna for letting me read her debut novel 🫧🎀💖✨🤍
(first off thank you SO much to anna for the ARC copy - and apologies for this review being a tad late but happy release day nonetheless!)
okay i haven’t read a romance in so long but let me tell you i am SO glad it was this. i’m not the best at writing long reviews but i feel like i owe it because i am the BIGGEST fan of anna’s writing! the narrative had me genuinely hooked and she created such well rounded characters. amelie is my spirit animal
ALSO the playlist at the start r u kidding me rn that was such a cute bonus. i live for stuff like that
I received an ARC of this book a few months back and thought I wrote a review but turns out I didn’t !!!
This book is the most funnest book I have enjoyed in a while. It was so perfect and such an easy read.
Amelie was a queen and honestly loved how this lowkey gave carmen san diageo vibes !! And henryyy ??? Don’t get me started these two had be giggling so muchhh
Anyways thank you for giving me the opportunity of reading it early I definitely recommend it to everyone !!!
i enjoyed this book a lot! the concept and idea were perfect, and the author did an excellent job at creating an exciting contemporary romance w/ elements of light mystery. some parts of the story were a bit slow and redundant, but i thought the story was exciting enough to keep going!
This was the sweetest book! I love the art heist aspects, they were so much fun to read! I loved learning about Amelie and Henry’s relationship with each other and their relationship with art! This book has such fun romcom vibes paired with pinning from both parties! This is definitely a slow burn but it had such a sweet ending!
🩵 Tropes -slow burn -fake dating -closed door romance -second chance romance -dual pov
Thank you so much for an ARC in exchange of an honest review!
oh my god. this book was so cute. first things first, the title immediately drew me in. i LOVE sabrina carpenter (specifically bad for business), so this book was basically everything to me. amelie (gracie reference?) and henry were so adorable and i cannot wait to read another book of anna's. also the playlist!!!! it was perfect. 4.5 stars i ADORED this book.
I read this book after winning it in a Giveaway and I just want to say absolutely amazing!! I don’t think I had ever read a book with this plot but I adored it! And it was funny to see how the characters interacted with each other and her stealthy actions, it definitely had me hooked and I was definitely nervous on some of the parts!!
Loved the concept behind this book! The art gallery theme and the twists that went along through the book😊 Seemed like a mix of romance and adventure with a hint of mystery, love it.
I would’ve read it a lot quicker if life hadn’t gotten in the way! 🙄 It drew me in from the start! 😄
I loved this book!!!! The characters, the story,… it all complimented each other perfect. The plot twists were very suprising for me, just as i like them.
