With Haver City in the midst of an out-and-out crime spree, it seems like everything is going down the tubes fast. But from the chaos arises a hero, someone who can put the city to rights and the master criminal, The Red Raven, away in the federal birdcage. His name? Nifty Man.
Keon and Ben are best friends who bicker relentlessly, watch bad kung fu movies, and care for a dog together. All seems well until Keon finds out Ben's been Nifty Man this whole time. But if that's the revelation it takes to move them from friends to something more intimate, he'll live with a secret or two.
And now there's a perplexing redhead hanging out on the fire escape who knows more than she's saying, and her mysteries are drawing Keon in.
Keon is left to put together the puzzle and sort out his feelings for both of these strange people before the villains of Haver City do something so bad that even Nifty Man can't fix it.
I initially wasn't sure I was going to like this. It's not my usual style. But this was funny, heartwarming, and with a bit of superhero excitement thrown in. I enjoyed that it was written in almost a comic book fashion with different "issues". My favorite section was the part written in the dogs perspective.

First, I know and adore the author so I'm biased. Second, this is *not* my typical read- I'm not into super heroes and whatnot.
Third, this book is utterly delightful. This book is better than ice cream and rideable dinosaurs.
My favorite thing is the author's content warning in the beginning- all too often the adorable pet is in danger and the stress of it takes me right out of a story, so knowing that nothing bad happens to the dog alleviates that worry. I wish I saw that more often in books.
It's funny (especially when we get Wrigley's take on it all) and heartfelt. That first kiss is so sweet and funny!
(Also, if there is, in fact, a movie about otters learning to use guns and taking over a space station... Hit a girl up. I gotta see that.)
All in all, this book was a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to read more from Reilly!
Love, and Other Supervillains was a short, fun read. It felt a little like a parody of a romcom/superhero story mashup. It's a series of short stories that show the present and past of roommates Ben and Keon, who are the good guys fighting against Haver City's villains. These supervillains include: Sharkman and The Red Raven, while Ben fights under the hero name Nifty Man. So you know it's a little tongue in cheek.
Ben and Keon are both extremely crotchety with each other, but in a fond way. Keon is excessively attractive to other people and talks a lot, where Ben is surly but overall wants the best for people. Wrigley is the best dog, and I'm so glad no harm comes to him. Rachel comes into the story a little later and is a wee bit crazy. That is to say the romance aspect is directionless as Ben and Keon sort of fall in to it and neither wants to commit or rock the boat. Rachel's chaos forces them to confront what they really want. And all with the background of some city-destroying villains scheming their end in the background.
This is a great read with some funny, serious, hot entertainment. I loved the opinions of the dog, Wrigley. It is a polyamorous story with MMF interaction. I loved the contrast of characters in Ben, Keon, and Rachel. They fit together perfectly. The only thing I got a bit irritated at was their nearly constant fussing. I guess that is the way some people express love. Hummm? Anyway, I did enjoy this book. It has lots of action and steamy chemistry.

Every once in a while I enjoy a truly zany read and this was that. Ben and Keon were a funny pair of friends who kind of find their way into a relationship that is a lot more than friendly, in the midst of a crime spree. Add Rachel into the mix and there is a lot of interesting things going on as these two figure themselves out. Zany!.

This was such a delightful read. Great characters and plot. I love that everyone is believable and stays true to their character and non of them are dumb. I flew right through this whole book, couldn’t put it down, or at least I really didn’t want to. My new favourite Indi Author, I even preferred this to ACOTAR, even though the genre is completely different. I’m so pleased I like all the characters. Huzzah forever! Also I seriously need to know more about Sharkman! Maybe second book??
This book was charming. It is a superhero romance, but doesn’t so much on the romance scenes. (There are some romance scenes)
In my opinion, the book focuses more on the relationships as they develop between the 2 main male characters and the female antagonist turned protagonist.

This is a delightfully different, well-written, funny, and entertaining story. It's outside the normal types of stories I'm drawn to, but I am quite glad I took the time with this one. It's quirky and witty, and a really delightful read. 100% would recommend.
