Hi! I'm Miss Mouse! My day with my best friend is soooo exciting! We draw with crayons and play with blocks, and after we dress up in fancy clothes, she paints beautiful pictures of me. Outside we run and jump and laugh and play in the mud. Everything we do is fun! In this warm and brightly illustrated story from Jane Ormerod, Miss Mouse -- a stuffed doll -- invites you to spend a magical day with her and her toddler friend.
Jan Ormerod grew up in the small towns of Western Australia, with three older sisters, and as a child she drew constantly and compulsively. She went to art school and studied drawing, painting and sculpture. After completing her degree, Jan become an Associate of the Western Australian Institute of Technology and Design in Education, taught in secondary schools on enrichment programmes, and lectured in teacher’s college and art schools. Jan's first picture book, "Sunshine", won the Mother Goose Award in 1982 and was highly commended for the Kate Greenaway Medal. Her recent titles include "Ben Goes Swimming", "Emily Dances", "Who’s Who on Our Street?", " A Twist in the Tail" and "Ponko and the South Pole". http://www.walkerbooks.com.au/authors...
A child's day told through the eyes of her stuffed mouse. In paneled illustrations we are shown the activities of a preschooler's day, a preschooler who really knows how to play from art activities, to being outdoors, and also building with mud and the cleanup afterward. Time for bed and of course a story. This really capatures a playful preschooler.
In this Ormerod's illustrations are less sentimental, more playful, than others that I've enjoyed. But they're very fitting as this little girl is wondrously playful herself. And now I want a Miss Mouse doll!
