Into a family of farmers, a child was born. Unlike other children, she shared a strange affinity with the timber wolves of the deep woods and ran away to live among them, compelled to kill and kill again. And when she chose a mate, she begat a dynasty destined to unleash a savage reign of terror.
I don't think I liked this read at all now that I've had time to think about it. I kept waiting for "the good part" where someone got their face chewed off in a graphically gruesome type of way. It never happened. Sure, we get a gun-shot here, a little bit of cannibalism there. The story had one-dimensional characters that failed to bring any life to it making any climatic moments underwhelming. It went from a missing person suspense to a potentially paranormal wolf story then to an incest-laced read of a human wolf-pack.
This is not about snakes so I'm not sure why there are snake fangs on the cover. The fangs refer to wolves, but this is not a werewolf book either. Very different from anything else I have read, which is nice.
Definitely a few disturbing parts but it's not a book full of gore and the story line is very engaging.
Hmmm. Started off really well, most of it was going quite well. Not a fan of the ending. Wish they were able to save Judy and her husband atleast. I was enjoying Mary Amanda with the wolves the most. Wanted more of that. The book was messed up in a good way hahaha

I was really uncomfortable with all the rape in the book, but other than that, it was a good book. The characters were interesting and so was the plot. It took me two tries to read it, but I'm glad I read it.
