Sometimes the wait is just the beginning.

Owen
I’ve been in love with Barrett since we met in college. Ten years and that hasn’t changed. No man could ever measure up to him, so why would I waste my time? They’d never be Barrett. I’ll never be the one for him, so I work as the in-house designer at Barrett’s firm and take what I can get. He might be a Daddy, but he’s not interested in my kind of little.

Barrett
I’ve been in love with Owen since college. Ten years later, and that hasn’t ever changed. I’ve tried to move on from him, but other men have never measured up. To keep him close, I hired Owen at my hospitality firm, and I take what he’s willing to share. Owen might be a little, but he’s not interested in my kind of Daddy.

These two best friends are going to need some help from fate and a little magic to make their happily ever after happen.

This Daddy/little story includes cuddles, bottles, ABDL, and a feisty kitty ready to throw down to protect their new favorite human.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

At over six feet myself, feeling small and delicate was a moment to treasure. Bear always managed to make it happen though. I always felt like a proper little around him.

ARC review

I could tell what this book wanted to be, but it didn’t quite hit it, unfortunately. It was mainly negatively affected by a serious lack of consistency in plot details as well as the fact that it didn’t seem like Owen actually wanted to be with Barrett for large parts of the book. We keep hearing about how they have been best friends for 10+ years and have been in love and pining all that time, but they seem to barely know each other, and Owen doesn’t trust Barrett. By the end I’m not sure I wanted them to be together as they seemed to have incompatible personalities.

Some of the plot was cute and it could’ve been really good if simplified and shortened, but things kept being added and it felt very contrived. They have sex at 19% and we don’t learn that they’re actually officially a couple until the epilogue at 94%, and all that time in between Owen keeps repeating the same internal thoughts about how they are incompatible (they clearly aren’t, it’s just conveniently ignored for the sake of drama), which could’ve been cleared up with communication.

This feels really negative now, but it’s always a shame when it’s nearly really good. So much of the book builds on the fact that these guys are best friends, but they genuinely don’t feel like it, which then affects absolutely everything.

Also, a main character micromanaging someone else to the degree that is mentioned in the book is not endearing or fun. It’s a big red flag.

This is still what I’d call a baby author so I fully expect many of these things (including editing) to improve with time. You can tell that the ideas and bones for something really good is there.

The age play and play dates with the other Littles was adorable and I enjoyed the focus on Owen struggling with his own regression and the development of him getting comfortable with Barrett and his friends. I always enjoy kinky rep where the MCs aren’t the ‘typical’ type/body that is expected.

Once I had the food in front of him, I realized my mistake. Giving pasta and sauce to someone who regressed as far as Owen did was a recipe for disaster, especially since we didn’t have a change of clothes.

Why hadn’t he figured out how to read my mind? A real friend would have done it by now.

Friends to lovers is arguably my favorite contemporary romance trope and while I did enjoy this one I feel like it has a lot of potential that wasn't reached.

So first and foremost I'm actually surprised to say this just because I haven't found quality representation and so long but the age play scenes were the best part of this book. The romance between the two characters was okay but the age play is where this book really shined. Owen embracing his own regression and learning to accept himself as an individual and in a group of his friends was the best character development in the book and the best part of the book for me. Oh and that cat named Elizabeth.

I was really excited for Barrett and Owen's story from the glimpses we got from the first book but I think a lot of this entire friendship dynamic and kink club environment is so underdeveloped. I thought it in the first book and it really kind of comes through in this one as well that it just needs more work. Maybe it's because I've read a wide selection of book series that have a kink club at the center of the setting but this one doesn't live up to those expectations I have.

I also was a little bit disappointed in the actual romance. I believed that Barrett loved Owen but I didn't always believe that Owen loved Barrett. I think there is some miscommunication and maybe just it's internalized trauma but I didn't always believe that they had been friends for a decade and supposedly in love with each other secretly for that long.

My review is sounding a little negative and I don't necessarily mean it to. I did enjoy this book and I do look forward to reading Jakob and Reed's story and hopefully one about Anders dumping his shitstain of a boyfriend. It's slightly above middle of the road for me but I'm going to read the author's future books and I maybe will read the other couple that she has out.

Just a Little Magic by Kerry Kilpatrick is book 2 in the Just a Little series. I was really looking forward to Barrett and Owen’s story. There is nothing I love more than a good friends to lovers romance. However, I found both of these men frustrating at times. One of the things I hate more than anything is miscommunication. Owen and Barrett have been in love with each other for over ten years. But neither of them was willing to take the chance for something more. Owen thought that Barrett could never be the Daddy for him, and Barrett just thought that Owen was indifferent to him as anything more than a friend. Once these two got together it was pretty sweet. It just took too long to get there. For being best friends for so long, they really knew nothing about each other.

I received an ARC from GRR for my honest review

In Just a little Love, Barrett was the larger than life friend of Gabe. Owen kept himself to himself, not the one to socialise, all we know was he was great as an in-house designer. Now it was their story.
Having been best friends since college, they both wanted each other but there was always something holding them back.
Whilst I have read quite a few books with a daddy and little boy, not many also have ABDL. Owen and Barrett were two characters I liked straight away and as the story progressed you could understand why Owen was so private. Whilst this took some time for them to be in a relationship you could see it was well worth the wait for them. The bear storyline was unexpected and who doesn't love a cat. There was low-angst, a lot of meddling and Barrett had so much patience when it came to Owen.
It was good to catch up with Gabe and Rory and even though we do not know much about Reed and Jakob, it has made me curious to know more of their story and like other reviews I really want Anders HEA
I am looking forward to the next series to see how Nico gets on with Levi

🧡 Best Friends to Lovers

🧡 Forced Proximity

I thought that the beginning of this book was really sweet, so I had high hopes for the rest of the story, but unfortunately it just missed the mark for me.

I went back and forth on liking the characters, as Owen didn't seem to trust Barrett at all, despite them being best friends for ten years and Barrett came across as a little manipulative at times.

Both MCs claimed to have been in love with each other for years but there seemed to be a lot they didn't know about each other and neither seemed to be willing to be completely honest for a long time.

Overall it was an enjoyable story but not my favourite. I will still definitely be checking out more books by this author though as I really enjoyed their writing style.

3.5 ⭐️

This was a good read and I loved the age play and showing what it’s like for someone who regresses to the point of practically non verbal, I just wish there was more of it. We saw Owen regress a few times at the beginning of this book, but only like once after 60%. I just wish we had more scenes of little Owen especially with Rory and Jakob. I also wanted more of a reveal that they had both been in love with each other for 10 years but it didn’t feel monumental. I did like their relationship and I was very happy with their ending.

This story was so sweet! It wasn’t the normal type of romance that I read, but Barrett and Owen deserved every bit of their happy ending that they got. Reading about how Barrett takes care of Owen and protects him against the world (and a bear) made my heart ache.

3.5 stars rounded up, ARC review

This book was entertaining and didn’t drag for me. However it did feel like Owen dragged his insecurity issues along for a bit too long.

I loved the role the bear played in the story — he was the best side character. And the cat was adorable too!

A perfectly entertaining book but not super memorable. I loved this authors book “Will,” so I would definitely continue to read books by her.

This was well written and engaging in style, but I hate books whose major conflict is lack of communication for 300 pages, which is what this is. I'm at 49% and have been screaming internally since 16% for these supposed best friends to actually have an honest conversation with each other, and stop lying about what they want.

It's not a bad book, and I get why previous reviewers loved it, but I don't think this one is for me. I'm SO FRUSTRATED with it, and I'm actually not even sure why they love each other at this point. How can you be best friends with someone for TEN YEARS without truly knowing them? I don't get it...

Loved it!!!

I adore this series and all the characters. Best friends to lovers is a favorite of mine. This had all the layers of emotions I was looking for. And boy did it have some angst. I get why Owen felt the way he did though. Good thing they had both human and feline help. I do love kitties. My heart hurts for Anders. Please tell me we get a story for him.

I was really conflicted about how to rate this book! I went with how I liked the book overall (which I guess is how you should do it anyway) and not based on how I felt about the kink in this one. I read this, and was determined to read it all the way through, to see how I felt about books that included the Daddy/Little kink. I read all sorts of smut, and feel like I should at least try what's out there once before I write it off. The summary on Amazon does clearly outline what the book entails: "This Daddy/Little story includes cuddles, bottles, and ABDL." (which stands for Adult Baby/Diaper Lover - I did not know and had to look this up) As it turns out, I am not a fan of that particular dynamic, but to each their own for whatever kink you might be into. I'm also not clear if it's an accurate representation of that lifestyle, so take what I say next with a grain of salt. While I ultimately was not a fan of the kink, I do think this book was a good introduction into that lifestyle if it's something you were curious about or wanted to read a story with that particular kink. While it was alluded to the fact that things could get sexual while a person is in "little" mindset, that is NOT the case in this one. When Owen is in his little headspace, it is just about comfort and care and nothing sexual happens. (I think if it had included that, I would have put the book down) The characters in the book are very supportive and understanding of one another, which made me like the overall story even more. This also isn't the only one in that series, and there are more books with Daddy/Little relationships from characters you see in this book.
Now - putting all that aside, if you remove the kink and focus only on the relationship between Barrett and Owen (both of the MMC's), you have a really sweet MM story about best friends becoming lovers and understanding what they other wants out of a relationship. The fact that Owen felt like he had to hide parts of himself was really sad. But I can understand why he feels that way, given his history when he tried to be and act how he really is once he gets into his headspace. But ... he definitely at least have tried to talk things out with Barrett before he decided that it wasn't something Barrett wanted. That isn't fair to Barrett, and ultimately, it wasn't fair to himself. The fact that the two of them have been pining for the other one for 10 years is crazy to me. At no point during that time was it obvious to the other that they were crazy for each other??! Everyone around them noticed that they were in love, it just took forever for the two of them to catch up. How Barrett went about breaking down Owen's walls was really shitty though, and I'm not surprised that Owen gets upset later. And even though it sucked that there were unrequited feelings, they were still very much a part of the other's life. So, just maybe, having 10 years of true friendship made it easier for their romantic relationship to blossom. I really loved their relationship and their banter. And just because their kink relationship is kind of a power difference, their sexual and regular relationship is very balanced and hot as hell. The spice is very well done in this one - minus the fact that at one point they use butter for lube. That's nasty and I'm pretty sure not healthy. Take the time and go get lube. My only complaint is that there's not enough spice. They've been friends for like 10 years with a lot of repressed sexual tension, you'd think they'd go at it like rabbits!!
I did end up really liking this story, because Owen and Barrett are so sweet as a couple, and the Daddy/Little dynamics weren't enough to make me stop reading it entirely. It is a focal point, so if you don't think you'll like it, I would skip. If you like that or want to know what it's like, I would say this is a good book to try!

[I received an advanced copy of this book. All reviews and ratings are my own.]

**As always, this is a safe space - everyone is entitled to enjoy what they enjoy and what we're not going to do is yuck someone else's yum. If age-regression, ABDL, and DDlb kink isn't your jam, this won't be the book for you.**

Owen and Barrett have been friends for more than a decade, since meeting in college. It was also in college that they discovered a shared kink - Barrett is a Daddy, and Owen is a Little - but Owen doesn't believe that Barrett is the right man for him. Barrett, on the other hand, thinks he could be the right Daddy for Owen, if only his friend would let him in enough to see him in his little-space -- something Owen steadfastly refuses to do.

Owen's regression has always been a solitary exercise. After a bad experience at a kink club in college, he believes no Daddy would ever want to take care of him long-term. His regression to a mostly non-verbal age adds an additional layer of complexity to his fears, making it impossible for him to fully trust anyone with this side of himself - not even his best friend. Despite having been in love with Barrett for as long as he's known him, Owen has resigned himself to living life without a Daddy, convinced that Barrett would never want a Little like him. After all, he's always dated Middles, never anyone like him.

While Barrett knows Owen is a Little, he doesn't know how little until he stumbles upon a sleeping Owen, dressed in his Little clothes, complete with pacifier. Owen is mortified, but Barrett is thrilled. He's been in love with Owen for as long as he's known him and, for Barrett, finding out that Owen's needs align with his as a Daddy only makes him more convinced than ever that they are a perfect match. He just needs to convince Owen.

Owen's reluctance to trust Barrett with this side of him - even after their years of friendship - is frustrating at times. It's completely understandable, given his past, but watching him battle his insecurities and fears leaves readers wanting him to finally let Barrett in. Barrett, on the other hand, doesn't fully understand that he's not going to be able to bulldoze his way into the perfect relationship with Owen. His habit of doing what he thinks is best without consulting with Owen could be considered irritating, but the reader needs to remember that Barrett is a Daddy used to taking care of others and getting what he wants.

The month-long “trial” that Barrett convinces Owen to give him is where the story truly shines. Their interactions during this time are filled with sweet moments, quiet care, and gentle coaxing from Barrett as he works to show Owen that he can trust him. The way Barrett nurtures Owen’s Little side, especially when he’s at his most vulnerable, is tender and heartwarming. The slow build of trust is handled with great sensitivity, making each step they take toward a shared life feel earned and significant.

While Owen’s inability to trust Barrett might frustrate some readers, it also makes his eventual surrender to Barrett’s care all the more rewarding. And for those who love a Daddy character with a strong will and a soft heart, Barrett will be irresistible. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy kink-friendly romances with plenty of warmth and heart.

This book is just as delightful as book one, and the characters overlap so the reader gets to revisit them in book two. Barrett and Owen have been in love with each other since they met in college, but neither has ever made a move in the ten years since, fearful of losing their best friend. Owen shies away from any change in their relationship and Barrett isn’t quite sure why, but he would like to see it move forward. They get an unexpected chance thanks to a bear and a black kitten, and Barrett is hopeful, but Owen backs off. Trying to figure out the reason, and then what he can do to get Owen to lower his defenses is the last half of the book. Owen’s reasons seem valid to him, and trying to get Owen to share is helped along by a friend of Owen’s, helping him see things in a new light, moving closer to their HEA.

This author’s characters are so vividly written, they come to life and jump off the page for me, playing like a movie in my mind, not just words on a page. I am drawn in from page one and can’t let go until I see them get the loves of their lives. Stories are mostly low angst, told from a dual POV, there is a lot of Daddy/little interaction, both with the MCs and with the other Littles from book one, and many encounters with an unusual black cat named Elizabeth. The story flows and characters keep me interested and engaged in what they’re doing. This is a really enjoyable read, taking me to a very satisfying conclusion. I look forward to book 3, and I hope there will be a book for Anders to find the love he deserves, too.

I received an ARC of the book and this is my voluntary review.

This is a great series of Daddy/little stories. I read #3 for review early this year and it was so enjoyable I went back to catch books 1 and 2. This one features Owen, a young designer who regresses back to less than a 2 yo when little. His best friend and boss, Barrett, whom he calls Bear, has been anxiously awaiting the day when Owen will admit they should be more than friends. Yes, he loves Owen and is happy, most days, to wait for him to finally realize what they can be. The holdup is that Owen believes Bear is only interested in "middles" -- those who regress to late childhood/early teens, and Owen regresses so far he finds it difficult to express himself in words. In the past some daddies have scoffed at him, shaming him for being unable to ask for what he wants and he can't stand the idea that his Bear would do the same.

Thankfully, the two didn't wallow in this in-between space for too long in the story but Owen found it hard to trust and to believe they could make it. How Bear convinces him and how good they are together forms the crux of the story. Owen as a little was adorable. Bear was a Daddy I wouldn't mind having for myself. Of course they have some misunderstandings but none that last so long this reader would have started stomping her feet (a known occurrence).

There are appearances by other D/l characters from others in the series, including last year's holiday story. (The littles who do their uncoordinated happy dance always bring a smile to my face.) And, of course, Owen and Bear eventually find their HEA.

PS Best friends to lovers I've read in quite a while.

Okay, I feel I need to share my thoughts on this one, especially with how huge a fan I was of the first book:

I gave it three stars originally but would probably give it two if I could go back. I love friends to lovers almost as much as I love pining. I do love me some pining but in those type of books there’s always what I call the “aha” moment where they realize their love knows no bounds and they have nothing to run and hide from. There was absolutely no aha moment in this book. Owen fought this man to the very last page pretty much and that took so much away for me.

Also, maybe I missed something when they were at the diner, but Bear was so quick to forgive Owen for lying about basically everything under the sun, but then later in the book when Owen finds out about the auction and flies off the handle feels like such a HUGE double standard to me. You lied to this man about everything and now you’re upset that he fibbed a little? The stuff Owen lied about was HUGE! Bear didn’t even know he was a virgin and that does not sit with me at all the more I think about it. Actually Owen’s behavior throughout makes him kind of unlikable to me as a character and Bear deserved better 😬

I did absolutely adore Uncle Anders hanging out with the littles and the more little focus on play dates and how gentle they were with baby Owen. Ugh. My Heart.

If the author sees this I STILL LOVE YOU and I will absolutely read book three BUT PLEASE GIVE ANDERS A BOOK I AM BEGGING. THE SWEET BEAN DESERVES A HAPPY ENDING AND I NEED IT.

Overall, this book had potential, but needs work.
I felt really bad for the experience Owen had that made him hide his little away from everyone, especially his best friend. However, even after Barrett explained why he played with middles and that he could be the Daddy Owen needed, and after he proved it, Owen still shut him out for the longest time - which was really annoying. There were a couple missteps with Barrett not quite being prepared for Owen's type of little, but that was okay as it was Barrett's first time as well. There is a bit of a learning curve to figuring out exactly what works and is required for each man.
I felt these two had great potential, but too much of the book was spent on thoughts of doubts and insecurities, and too little time on an actual relationship once they finally figured things out. There was too much unnecessary filler that padded this book. If it was streamlined, focused more on the actual relationship, and fixed the multitude of errors and inconsistencies, it would be a much better book.
I really liked the friends in this book and especially enjoyed when they had little time together.
The kitten was a really sweet addition to the story, however her part in the epilogue just made no sense whatsoever - unless that's where the 'magic' part of the title comes from?

What can I say other than she did it again? When I was granted the privilege of being able to read this as an ARC I was over the moon and while time prevented me from reviewing sooner I wish I had been able to tell more people about it.

Just a Little Magic follows the story of long-term best friends Owen and Barret (Bear) and how it works to balance a working relationship, a friendship to last the ages, and a budding romance neither of them quite know how to get into.

With the mishaps and tropes you would expect to happen in any romcom, Kerry Kilpatrick once again takes the tropes for a positive spin. I will be the first to admit that the whole RomCom genre throws me off in large part due to deceptions or betrayals happening that never get resolved and always seem to leave one character not only worse off but forgotten. Never have I had to worry about that in one of Kerry Kilpatrick’s books. Friends, even ones who make mistakes, actually act as friends and the sense of love and community they share is both believable and refreshing. And did I mention there’s a cat? 10/10.

This is definitely a book I will be reading again and can’t wait to purchase a physical copy to keep on hand not only when I need a little pick-me-up but also to remember that there’s just a little magic in the world.

It was very cute and sweet. Barrett (aka Bear) and Owen have been besties since college and even though Bear has always wanted more and tried flirting and hinting, Owen always rebuked him. Until, an incident with a real bear shoved Owen into his little space and left Bear to be his Da. When Owen is little, he’s more baby than toddler or preschooler and the one time he tried to play around others, he overheard them talking trash, so he’s scared and insecure. But Bear has always and will always want him so he sets out to prove it. Instead of open communication though he sets out with grand gestures. And while a plain convo wouldn’t have been as whimsy and fun, it would have been realistic. They are part of a kink community, heck Barrett owns the kink club, so he should have been the own to firmly sit Owen down and have an open and honest conversation, so for me that part was a fail. And Owen lies a lot and I didn’t like that and I don’t like that he was let off the hook so easily for his lies but then had the audacity to get huffy when Barrett’s grand gestures felt like manipulation. Bear and Owen were perfect together once they were both honest. And I loved watching them in their Da and little headspace’s, I actually would have loved less pining and more playing. I did get bored at parts, but they didn’t last long and soon enough I was pulled back in. Well written and very sweet and cute.

I love a friends-to-lovers book and enjoyed Just a Little Love and the glimpse we got of Owen and Barrett.

These two have serious communication issues and that’s a bit of the disappointment in the book. For friends of 10+ years who do so much together, it feels like they don’t know each other that well to talk about their preferences and just seem to show a front.

While I can understand Owen’s reluctance to show his little side to full extent due to the experience at the club, I don’t understand his fear and while he hides it from Barrett.

On the other hand, they are very cute together. When circumstances bring Owen’s age regression out in full swing, Barrett (or Bear) is great in taking charge and it shows how much of a caregiver he is.

I love how Owen then slowly opens to Barrett and learns to not be ashamed of his little side. You have Rory and Jacob adding chaos to the book and they are very much helping Owen as well in their open and unconditional acceptance.

I look forward to Jacob’s book and really need Anders to have his own HEA.

And a cat called Elisabeth definitely stole the show more than once.

I just love this series and all of the characters in it! Best friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes, and this book delivered all the emotional layers I was craving. The journey from friendship to love was packed with heartache and angst, which made it all the more satisfying when things finally came together.

Owen’s internal struggle made perfect sense, even though it hurt to watch him wrestle with his feelings. His fears, vulnerabilities, and hesitation were so well written that I couldn’t help but feel for him. Thankfully, both human and feline help were on hand to nudge these two in the right direction. Those moments of feline intervention added a sweet, lighthearted touch to the tension.

Anders, though—my heart aches for him. He’s such a complex and endearing character, and I sincerely hope there’s a story for him on the horizon. He deserves his own journey, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for him.

This series has me hooked, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who loves deep emotions, well-drawn characters, and a little bit of angst mixed in with their romance!

“Just a Little Magic” by Kerry Kilpatrick

Owen and Barrett have been friends since college, and are now colleagues, but neither is willing to rock the boat to explore the Daddy/little connection for fear that it will destroy their friendship. A combination of meddling friends, a bit of deception, and a lot of courage may change their lives, hopefully, for the better.

This adult gay romance explores a different aspect of the Daddy/little relationship in a beautifully sensitive way that provides an engaging read while reminding that every person has a different approach to life. It would have never occurred to me that some littles could be nonverbal once they enter that headspace, and it was eye-opening to watch Barrett learn how to engage with Owen so that he could overcome the scars of his past. I was a bit frustrated that they had danced around each other without being totally honest for years, but I cheered for the evolution of their relationship and enjoyed this sometimes-sizzling story. This has been a fun series to read thus far, and I look forward to reading more of these tales.

🧡 🐈‍⬛ review of Just a little magic 🐈‍⬛ 🧡

This is book two in the Just A Little series! This time the focus is on Barrett- a wealthy businessman and Daddy, and Owen- a successful designer and Boy in his private life! The two have been best friends forever and been equally pining for each other for ten years!

I loved the dual POV writing style as it gives us a full understanding of how the daddy/little dynamic is working! It was quick and easy to read. I love the banterous text message between the other boys and Owen. It brings in characters from Just A Little Love-book 1- and it’s just really sweet!

The spicy scenes were spicy and the angst was building throughout the book! Barrett would do anything for Owen, and Owen finally opens up about his feelings and expresses his little side more freely! I enjoyed Owen’s character development from being insecure to becoming more confident with the love of his friends and Barrett- and of course Bitty- the all knowing feisty kitty!! IYKYK!

Overall ratings:
🌟 5/5
🌶️ 2/5
☠️ 1/5 (TW/content warnings- daddy/little dynamic, age play, ABDL, MM spice)

Owen has been in love with Barrett since they met in college. Ten plus years and nothing has changed. No man would ever measure up to him, so why would he waste his time? They'd never be Barrett. He'll never be the one for him, so he works as the in-house designer at Barrett's firm and takes what he can get. He might be a Daddy, but he's not interested Owen's my kind of little. Barrett has been in love with Owen since college. More than ten years later, that hasn't changed. He's tried to move on from him, but other men have never measured up. To keep him close, he hired Owen at his hospitality firm, and he takes what he's willing to share. Owen might be a little, but he's not interested in Barrett's kind of Daddy. These two best friends will need some help from fate and a little magic to make their happily ever after happen.

This was a sweet story of two men who loved each other and had time and a lot of false assumptions between them. I loved that circumstances meant that they were able to correct their assumptions and find the future that they both deserve. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and an BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

🧸 UGH I know I start almost every review this way, but I really enjoyed reading Barrett and Owen's story! ABDL isn't typically something I pick up, but the rest of the blurb sounded so good, I wanted to check it out. The kink aspect of their relationship is so intertwined with them as a couple that it felt so natural and true to who they were.

🧸 Owen is a Little who is in love with his best friend Barrett. Barrett is a Daddy who is in love with his best friend Owen. Neither of them think they have a shot with each other because of some misunderstandings from their college days. One unlucky bear attack later and everything is coming to light FINALLY. Add in a sassy little kitten who brings the guys together (that catio sounds AMAZING) and you've got yourself a cute love story.

Pick up if you love:
🧸 Bear attacks in the woods
🧸 Scheming kittens
🧸A Da who knows how to take care of his boy
🧸 Best friends for 10+ years to lovers
🧸 Proper respect of kink and littles

Thank you for sending me a copy to read and review, Kerry!

Standalone (but is interconnected with the author’s other ‘Just a Little’ books). Best friends to lovers. Daddy/little. Found family. Dual POV.

Being in love with their best friend for ten years, and neither Barrett nor Owen are sure how to cross the friends only line that was drawn years ago. Even between best friends there are some things that you don’t share, and I fully understood Owen’s hesitations and yet the inevitability of giving in to Barrett when he wants more.

I enjoyed all the supportive secondary characters, and seeing the happiness and sweetness of all the littles with their Daddies. Barrett never wavers once he finally decides that Owen and he fit and does everything he can to show Owen that he’s in the relationship for the long run. Sometimes a super sweet read comes along, with the certainty that the two main characters are meant to be together, and is just something that makes you smile while reading. 4.5 rounded up

3.5 stars!

Love a good friend's to lovers plot line, Owen and Barrett had a decade long pinning.

The lack of communication or more like miscommunication was infuriating at times, I wish Owen could accept Barrets love since at times it felt like an endless cycle of him running away or shutting him out.

I'm happy they got their HEA but how they got there seemed more tricky than it needed to be at times.

Their Da(ddy) / little relationship was so wholesome and truly a highlight to read the care Barrett showed for Owen in their little little headspace. I enjoyed those moments.

On a side note... Anders NEEDS to leave his awful boyfriend! Every time it was mentioned I'd feel rage, I do not understand that dynamic and I hope they get their own story so I can learn why they stay in such a toxic relationship 👿

I look forward to reading more of this series and was happy I was able to get an ARC copy. This has been my honest thoughts.

It was cute although sometimes I find the friends to lovers trope a bit frustrating. They don't want to ruin the friendship, but by not confessing they are growing further and further apart and likely will end the friendship eventually anyway. So you are dragging out the death. Also knowing better what someone wants than they do annoys me. I get it that Oscar had trauma given how others had reacted to him in his little form before, but he was so sure about everything. And while Barrett had issues with is father's ultimatum (once again - get married or else) I kind of appreciated that his dad was the only one who freaking saw what was going on and called them on it. Although he put the onus on Owen to fix it rather than his son.

So it was cute enough and the whole incident with the bear and the kitten was cute but I'm not sure cats are as smart as Elizabeth was. LOL Still waiting for Anders to dump his shitty boyfriend. *taps foot*
