Illustrated in full color. On a fishing trip with Dad, Little Critter's frog hops out of the car. Is he in the log? No. Is he up a tree? No. Why, he's under the lily pad, of course!

I would give this book one and a half stars. It's sure to be a lot of fun, particularly for younger readers, and I would suggest that even those that are not at the very youngest stages might enjoy the lift-the-flap feature, as well? :-)
I can't believe this is out-of-print. This sturdy board book is similar to another Little Critter book, "Where's Kitty?". Lift the flaps and help Little Critter find his frog. This was one of the first books that my kids really loved. They found it interesting even before their little fingers were dexterous enough to work the flaps. Once they could open the flaps themselves, this became the miracle book. Fussy at the grocery store? Pull out the frog book. Cranky because he woke up early from his nap? Read the frog book and coax a few smiles. Amazing. Your results may vary.
With the exception of There's a Nightmare in My Closet, I am not a big fan of Mercer Mayer, so I was pleasantly surprised by this Little Critter book. I read this today at story time at the library. My theme for the day was frogs. How does this relate to "Dream Big", you might ask? (It was very rude of you to ask that...I will try to stick to the theme ...after next week...next week we're doing elephants.) I pulled several frog books and the kids picked this one. This is a lift the flap book - frog gets lost, kids lift the flaps to try to find frog but instead find many other critters. It was fun - although the ending was a little bit weak.
RC's copy of Where is My Frog is a lift-the-flap copy. This addition made this book much more enjoyable and interactive. It is a very simple story of a boy who goes fishing with his father and brings his pet frog. He quickly loses it and spends the rest of the book looking for it. he finds it in the end and the story hammers home the friendship between a pet owner and their pet.
Nothing too special here, but it is a familiar character and easy read. The lift-the-flap action makes it so much more fun!
Mercer Mayer is one of my favorite authors. This book was not only well written, it also had the added plus of lift-flaps that allowed my son and I the added pleasure of helping Little Critter look for his frog. Overall, a very good book.
A more sophisticated lift-the-flap book with smaller, more difficult to find flaps and a humorous story about a critter who loses his pet frog while fishing with his father.
