I have read many of Max Lucado's books. I love the way he writes, and this book inspired me as I used it as part of my devotions this year. I only have one negative comment about this book, "Max, you need a proofreader!". There were literally hundreds of misspelled or wrong words throughout this book!
I’m not really sure who this book was written for. On one hand, the book describes some very basic principles of faith in God for new believers. On the other hand, the short daily readings require a wide base knowledge of the characters and stories of the Bible in order to understand what the author is getting at. For a new believer, it would probably be better to read something that explains basic principles without relying so heavily on shorthand and analogy. For a more experienced believer, it would probably be better to read something that delves deeper into the intricacies of the Word. The book just contains a lot of nice platitudes about God’s love that don’t really acknowledge the complexities of real life. Probably best to avoid it. The book is beautifully designed, though.
Great if you are looking for a quick thought to set your mind on Jesus as you start your day. Also a perfect tool for those just starting their walk with the Lord.
For me, I just like a little something with more 'meat' to sink my teeth into.
Very short reading each day. I may have preferred something a little meatier. But as I read it at bedtime, it felt like Max coming in and tucking me into bed and wishing me sweet dreams
