A nice story for a pre-school kid learning about what to expect on the first day of school. I like that Little Critter doesn't have the perfect first day, but still has a good one. Sets proper expectations.
Little critter is nervous for his first day of school. He plays tag. He gets to draw a picture of him and his dad in a sailboat. And his mom packs a surprise in his lunch. Critter had a great first day of school and can't wait to go back

"Critter Goes to School. I loved the Critter books by Mercer Mayer growing up. Come to think of it, I think I had all of them (to a point). My parents made a real push on literature and I think that stayed with me. I actually don’t recall much about this book, other than I’d request it often. Which, for a children’s book, is the highest praise."
My little one got this from the library today and asked me to read it to her. I really felt it was quite good. It's a pleasant and humorous introduction to what a first day at school might be like. I actually quite wished that we had read this together before her first day at school to help give her a good idea of what it might be like and help her be excited about it.
This book is about Little Critter on his first day of school and how exciting and busy the first day is. This is great book to read to Kindergarten because it is a flap book and they would really enjoy that while reminiscing on their first day.
