2.5⭐️ I wanted to give this a higher rating, but I am really struggling with that. I found there were too many plot holes, and important information related to the story that would have made it an easier read. There was a lot of potential for this book if it had been longer and had more plot explained. 1. How is it that Luna is supposed to have all of these powers/abilities yet nothing in her past indicated that these abilities existed? If she was this powerful, how did she not have any clue until she was a grown woman? 2. Why is it all of a sudden that Michael and the Devil have become interested in her, yet she had never demonstrated any abilities until now? 3. It's a stupid point, but relates to the relationship between Luna and Xavier, what is he famous for? There is absolutely no backstory to explain this, yet it was such a contention point with Xavier worried she was not going to be able to handle his lifestyle. What was his lifestyle except crowds of people want a picture of him. Just weird in my opinion 4. The writing style was just not for me. Sentence structure and vocabulary used made it awkward reading 5. There could have been so much more to the last part of the book leading up to Luna being taken to Hell by Michael. Then much more to the struggle for Xavier to come rescue her. 6. I understand this was probably meant to be YA, but there was so much sexual tension apparent and absolutely no sex. 7. There was not enough of an explanation for Luna what it meant to be 1 half of a hybrid couple. 8. The story almost gave me the vibe that Xavier proposed to her and married her the next day just so they could consummate the relationship. That might have worked if the rest of the story had properly explained to Luna the meaning of being a hybrid being. That he was the other half to make her soul whole with him.
Overall I really did think this book had a lot of potential. I just feel there was too many unexplained holes that could have made it so much better. This was not a story for a novella/short book without a little more structure and planning out the story.

It was a good story line and I loved the idea of the book, however it was very fast paced and at times I struggled to keep up, sometimes there was just too much happening at once. Its a very quick read and it does end on a cliffhanger so if it's a book you like then you defo need to have the next one to hand, xx
I liked the premise of this book but unfortunately it was just much too fast paced for me. I couldn’t connect to any of the characters. It all felt a little rushed. Especially the end with Lunessa being taken to hell and Xavier making the deal to save her was sooo rushed. Could have been made into an exciting scene with a real emotional struggle but the way it was written it just didn’t make me feel anything.
Also the writing style wasn’t exactly for me. The vocabulary and dialogues felt a little awkward at times.
Good idea but not to my taste.

This book is mesmerising, I have not read a book like this for a long time. I was hooked, I couldn't put the book down. I love a good book that I can't put down.
Lunessa has powers that she doesn't know how to control. Xavier is trying to help her learn how to use them. Together they are traveling in order to keep her safe from the ones that want to do her harm. However, they catch up to them and their happiness is taken from them. Xavier had to make a deal in order to keep her out of harm's way. This book is so good! I really enjoyed reading it and cannot wait to read the next one.
Oh my goodness, this book is fantastic! If you are looking for FMC who is looking to find her place un the world where a war between angels and demons is taking place, then look no further! This book is a fast paced leave you on the edge of your seat read! I loved every minute of reading this. Who did this to you? Hero, protector, MMC. Loved this now i need book 2!!!! Some spice! Short quick read also and very captivating!
I really enjoyed the fast pace of this story. It starts out running and doesn’t stop until the cliffhanger. You don’t get a whole lot of world building, or background story of the characters. But you do get an interesting paranormal story about soulmates, angels and demons and plain humans. It’s a good intro to paranormal books.
I think this story has a lot of potential. The story of angels and demons is one we’ve seen plenty of times but not quite like this, which was awesome to read! This moves very quickly and it’s a relatively short read. It’s good to pick up as a quick palette cleanser but will have you wondering around what will happen next.
Looking forward to seeing this author grow with their story (:
Im so glad I was introduced to this series. What more could you ask for. Angels. Demons. Hybrids. Soul mates..... What lengths will someone go to for their other half....
If you are looking for a paranormal romance series, look no further than Lunessa saga by CJ Childs. The saga starts off with this introductory novella, Lunessa. It is here where you meet our FMC, Luna and her best friend Liz (a frick and frack relationship). Their relationship parallels the friendship of the MMC, Xavier and his best friend Miguel. And then there’s our demonic antagonist(s).
Childs’ writes a strong set-up for the continuation of the saga in Lunessa. Every detail is written in the story for a purpose to help drive what is coming next. The story is told in first person POX from Lunessa, “Luna”, herself so readers are able to see inside her mind while she is figuring out how to maneuver in her new life and new found abilities.
The fact that Luna is a strong FMC is imperative to the story. She is tough to hear about her true identity and struggles with it like a normal human would finding out news that you are not who you were told you were your entire life. She works through it with the help of Xavier and Liz and starts to really own who she is right as everything starts to hit the fan and her life is turned upside down yet again.
Escape into an adventure of self-exploration, fated mates and a world of dark versus light in Lunessa by CJ Childs. I am very excited to continue reading Luna’s saga.
I listened to this book on audible it took a little to get past how the male characters sounded I didn't like it and it made it hard for me to pay attention. However, this is a fast-paced book. I liked her concept with it 1 soul torn into 2 and sent to earth to try and find each other to tip the scales against lucifers evil hold on earth. The relationship between Luna and Liz was fun to read. The simmer scene was nice it wasn't forced but flowed nicely and didn't just seem like it was just added. The cliff hanger had my heart going out to Xavier and Luna I can't wait to continue reading the series.
What I would have like to have read more of is the back story we get a preview of Luna's past lives before Xavier had to heal her and wipe her memory, but I would have like more on Xavier aside from being famous. We get a glimpse of Edward and his relationship with Luna as well, but it doesn't go into the depth that I would have liked. The journey that Luna had through the book was fast paced and good but I felt like it was missing a little something.
Thank you to C.J. Childs for introducing me to her book saga “Lunessa”, which is book one of her paranormal romance series. This story takes you into a world of angels, demons, hybrids, soul mates, and the battle between good and evil. All of which make for a compelling and captivating story. The first thing I noticed when I picked up the book is the beautiful cover and chapter art. It’s clear the author put a lot of thought into them and they are a nice touch to the book. There is a lot of action in the story, however, it can feel fast paced and rushed at times, trying to fit everything into only 211 pages. As many may enjoy a fast paced story such as this one, I personally would have enjoyed a more in depth back story to help connect me to the characters and their world. At times, the dialog felt forced and unrealistic, but I feel that’s something that can be overlooked. This story has so much potential and with the cliffhanger at the end, I’m sure many will be looking forward to book two.
I found this first book in her saga captivating 😍. It drew me into its story about Lunessa (the main female lead), a seemingly normal woman going about her daily life in a small town until she and her best friend go on a vacation to New York where everything she knows changes. God is real. Satan is real. Angels are real, and demons are real. and there are things such as hybrids which are a mix of human and angels and some of demons, and then there is her, a mixture of both. and to top that off there is a war happening, and she is at the centre of it. But through all of that she has the had the pull of what has turned out to be her soulmate Xavier. Her biggest protector. If you love reading about the battles between good and evil, celestial beings, hybrids, soulmates, or even just like fantasy romance/enchanting paranormal romance this saga is for you! C.J Childs has done an incredible job 🖤
The idea of this story is amazing, the concept is fantastic. The idea of angels and demons fighting is just something that screams to me.
But something was lacking. I feel like there was no character depth and build up to the present day and I feel like a backstory in past tense would have given it better depth.
I did speak with the author and mentioned the grammar. There was too many exclamation marks that took away the darkness of the situation. It made the characters seem like they were excited or shouting all of the time and I'm happy to say that she did say it's something she'll look back on and remember going forward.
I have DNF'd for a lot less so I hope the author can take that as a win that I do believe there is so much potential for this story.
☆☆☆☆ (concept of story) 🌶 Fantasy - angel vs demon Cliffhanger
I couldn’t put this down!!! It's filled with so much action. There were a lot of twists and turns, which I love in a book. I found the pacing to be quick, which was good - not a fan of slow books. I loved the dynamic between Luna and Liz; I think having a good friend amidst chaos is touching. I really enjoyed the concept of angels and demons mixed with humans, and the quest to find the protagonist's other half, which presents trials and errors. The only reason I’m rating it 4 stars is simply due to the length (I WANTED MORE).
This story had me invested in the outcome of a soul ripped in two, sent to Earth, and separated through many lives! This was a quick but satisfying read with mystery and twists! There are some editing errors, but it is easy to overcome when you're focused on the story and how it progresses! That cliffhanger at the end!? Have the next book ready as soon as you finish this one!
You can’t help but fall in love with Xavier and Lunessa.
The Author knew just how to get you emotionally invested. I was on a constant roller coaster of emotions. The ending…man. The ending tore my heart out. I spilled tears for Lunessa and Xavier.
If you love Angels, Demons, romance, spice, friendship and a love that’s meant to be, then this is the story for you!!!
Lunessa - A fast-paced novella perfect for fans of Shadowhunters!
I really enjoyed this book! It follows Luna, a half angel half human hybrid who came to Earth with her soulmate on God’s orders to cleanse evil from the world. However, the devil gets involved and corrupts her soul with evil, keeping her apart from her soulmate. I’m not a big fan of the insta-love trope, however this is an action-packed novella that Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance lovers will LOVE!
““Lunessa, You're a rare gift from above, but there's also something sinister about you.” 👸🏽
I liked this so much more than I thought, as I’m mostly a dark smut girly, but this was like a quick reprieve.
It was surprisingly packed with action for being the length it was. I haven’t read many angel vs demon romance, but this was a really neat take. Also, Instagram love/soulmates was done really well ❤️
This book made me remember a book I read years ago but with a more adult outlook. If you like stories about fated main characters, demons, angels, doomed/tragic relationship and spice; this is the book for you!!! The romantic tale of Luna will take you on a rollercoaster ride! Who do you trust? Who is telling the truth? Can you give everything for love? Or is the relationship doomed to be star crossed no matter what? The ending of this book had me searching for book two!
I really wanted to love this book it was super promising but there were too many plot holes, grammar issues, and things that just made me say “what?” I think that if the story were slower paced and more flushed out it could be amazing but I found myself getting frustrated at the characters and the writing. I hate that I couldn’t give this book a five star rating but I want to be frustrated when reading because I’m so into it, not because I keep getting taken out of it.
I quite enjoyed the concept of this story. It centres around our FMC Luna who is sent to earth as an angel/human hybrid to help humanity. However, evil is making a grab for her soul too. The story has angels, demons, soul mates and an amazing bestie. The author's writing style is incredibly descriptive, the attention to detail made me feel as though I was there. This was a fast paced read, I'm interested in seeing how the series continues, the story ends on a cliffhanger.
I have picked this up a few times to try and get through it. Unfortunately, it is filled with so many small details of what the character is doing that it bores the reader before you even get to any of the critical main story details. It is just too much filler and not enough story. The actual premise is a good one it just needs a better execution.
If you’re in the mood for a very quick paced. Romance then this is the book for you. There is not a lot of world building but more like it just picks up on an ordinary day with the FMC starting work and bumping into a good vs. evil war that was preordained before she was born. The book leaves you in a cliffhanger.
I really enjoyed this book the story, a story of good and evil, angels and demons heaven and hell, and love . Will things work out, will Lunessa find love and understanding of who she is and gain control of her powers? Glad I found out about this book and look forward to the next book!! I recommend looking into this one for sure!!
The turmoil of emotions with this book. I love me a good read about the war between angels vs demons and this one was good. Surprisingly it felt very fast pase in my opinion but in a good way. Like if you blinked you would miss information that was very important. Well CJ definitely got me hooked and I'll definitely be reading book two.
I thought the plot was good but it was very fast paced with no world building or background. I found myself saying “how did we get here already?” A lot. I felt confused throughout at times and it didn’t hold my interest very long. I felt like the sentences and wording could have been better. More descriptive and less run on. The cliffhanger at the end was good tho!
Wow this book had me captivated the whole time reading it, there was so much mystery that I was on the edge of my seat the entire time it’s a quick read which I also enjoyed im so excited for the second book!
Fantastic dark romantasy in a battle between angel and demon for Lunessa's would. Spicy in places and leaves you needing book 2 as it ends on a cliffhanger. C.j.Childs writing style makes it feel like the character is simply having a chat telling you her story. Very good book. 😁
