Olive was tired of lying to her sisters about when she would be able to come home. The time has come to return to Raspberry Ridge and get her life together again. Maybe with the love of her sisters and God’s help she can accomplish this dream. Doyle was heartbroken when Olive left town years ago, but he never stopped loving her. Now that she has returned will they have a second chance to rebuild their relationship? Or have their life experiences caused drastic changes?
The good Lord does work in mysterious ways for those that believe and trust in him.
Jessie has such a talent for sharing God’s word and grace in her stories and always gives me something special to think about.
I received this story as an ARC from the author and have given my unsolicited opinion.

Book five in the Raspberry Ridge series by Jesse Gussman has the middle Jardine sister finally returning to the small town beach community to help her two sisters get their deceased parent’s home ready to sale but Olive Jardine does not arrive with her hands empty. In her hands she carries her two month old daughter, Livvy, who was born in Ecuador just after her father, a married man unbeknown to Olive beforehand, has just left them and just before Olive was hospitalized with malaria. Still weak from the malaria and suffering from the mistakes she had made, she did not expect to see the reminder of the first biggest mistake she had made strolling towards her calling her name as soon as she entered the little church there in Raspberry Ridge. Yes, it was the boy she had spent many days with in their childhood, who had become the man she can cared for but she had left him behind to travel the world destroying everything they had together but yet Doyle Lowery was still headed her way, calling her name. But then he spots her baby and asks her, “Is it yours?” When she answers, “Yes”, he quickly passes by her and leaves the church. Aww….can these two find a second chance at love? All by the grace of God.
Jesse Gussman again takes an unfortunate situation and shows how by living God’s forgiveness, by showing His love through one’s actions, God can take our mess-ups, usually results of our sins, and when we’re repentant and desiring to change, He can make the best possible solutions. Jesses Gussman is the most accurate biblical Christian author in the beliefs she puts forth in her books that I have ever read in the fictional genre. And she puts those beliefs, principles, bits of wisdom, into her books in such a down-to-earth, friendly neighborly sort of way that she makes them so easy to understand, to apply to our lives and it challenges me to be a better person, each time I read her books. I highly recommend all her books and her newsletters are just as good.
I received a free Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book but was given no monetary compensation. I read for the enjoyment and voluntarily review so that others may know what to expect and authors may be helped by critique and encouragement.

Olive and Doyle’s story is one of regret, reconciliation, forgiveness and renewal. As adults, Olive and her two sisters, Mertie and Amara, have not spent much time in each other’s company. All have been too busy pursuing their careers or in Olive’s case, travelling the world. Now, after the recent death of their parents, the sisters have come back to Raspberry Ridge to get family mansion ready for sale. During their short time back in Raspberry Ridge, Olive’s two sisters have had the chance to reconnect, find love and peace, as well as recommit their lives to God.

After a recent serious health battle, Olive has also recommitted her life to God and His guidance. She has kept a secret from her sisters and hopes for their acceptance and forgiveness. She never expected to come face to face with the man she left behind to pursue her dream of traveling the world. Doyle is shocked to see Olive again after so much time, even more so when he sees the young infant with her.
Like her sister Mertie, Olive made a mistake in judgement that went against the tenets of her faith, which she regrets, though she could never regret the existence of her baby. Still recovering from her illness, with no means to support her self or her baby, Olive is in need of a job and Doyle, the man she could never forget and who has never forgotten her, is in need of a housekeeper.

Doyle’s own faith in God’s guidance, leads him to take Olive and her infant daughter into his home, despite his hurt, his mistrust and anger at Olive and the situation. He is determined to harden his heart to her, to keep an emotional and physical distance from mother and daughter, but soon finds he can do neither, as he suspects God intended. Olive’s rededication to God and her faith has given her a new purpose, brought her and her sisters closer, and has brought the man who seems to always been meant for her back into her life.

This book is a testament to faith, family and reconciliation. This insightful and inspirational book has my wholehearted recommendation.

Olive has been on a lifetime adventure as she's travelled around the world, but now she's returned home to help her sisters fix up their parents' house to sell it. Sick and without money, she's finished with traveling and wants to stay in her hometown after having just given birth to a sweet baby. When she was in her hospital bed in Ecuador, not sure if she was going to live or die, barely conscious with no clue of who was watching her child, she promised herself that if she got out of this situation, she'd make a point to be grateful to God daily. She intended on keeping her promise, never returning to her previous carefree lifestyle, because the lessons she learned while struggling through the most difficult time of her life were priceless, and they brought her back to the Lord.
Once back in her hometown, Olive runs into Doyle, her best friend from childhood. He's someone she hurt deeply when she left, and he's not the same boy she left behind. Doyle has a plan to help Livvy get back on her feet, but will it work? And can he forgive and forget all the pain Livvy caused him?
I was amazed when Olive demonstrates the meaning of "true friendship" by giving up her job because a stranger asked. It became an opportunity to be a witness for Christ. Once again, Garnet's wisdom is heartwarming. I like how the characters in the story had meaningful, theological conversations such as, "I don't think abortion is a political issue. I think it's a moral one. A lot of the things that we think of as political issues are moral issues." The salvation message was also naturally woven into conversation. Excellent! And another one that spoke directly to me, "There is nothing more important than being in your Bible on a daily basis, yourself."
I highly recommend this clean romance, and I'm wondering if the next story will be about Birdie Pollock, a world-famous singer. I'm looking forward to it!

We finally get to meet the third Jardine sister, Olive who was the world traveler. She had been delayed in coming back to help fix up the family home to sell it after her parents death. Her sisters have no idea she almost died from malaria and that she had a baby that's now two months old. Each one of these sisters have had to deal with their parents death. They all have difficulty remembering the distant relationship that their parents had with them while they were growing up. Yet each one of them have come back to Raspberry Ridge and discovered it is a safe haven and a place to call home.

What I have really liked about this book and the two previous stories about the Jardine sisters is the strong compassionate men in their lives. In this story we have Doyle Lowry who was Olive's childhood friend. After her family moved from Raspberry Ridge, she came back as a teenager for a summer and had a relationship with Doyle. When he wanted something permanent, she broke his heart to follow her dream to travel the. world. But Olive has finally realized that Doyle is a special man and she regrets hurting him. She doesn't believe he will give her a second chance.

Doyle doesn't want his heart broken again but he sees the changes in Olive after she gave her life to the Lord. He wants to take care of her and her baby so he offers her a job as his housekeeper.

With her two sisters getting married will Olive also find her future in Raspberry Ridge with the man who is perfect for her?

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

Into the Golden Dawn is one of Jessie Gussman's best books. Olive returns from her world travels recovering from malaria and carrying her 2 month old baby. She sees her friend that she was close with as soon as she returns. Doyle is having trouble forgetting how much he loved her and how she left and broke his heart. Her two older sisters have came back to Raspberry Ridge to settle down. Mertie is about to marry the new preacher, Garnet that has moved to Raspberry Ridge to open the church up again. The young teenager he is raising is Mertie's baby that she gave to him so she could go to college. Amara has met Holbert that they were told to avoid as a child by their mother, but upon arriving back in Raspberry Ridge she finds he is a great man with a good heart. She is planning on getting married the Friday following Mertie's wedding.

Since Olive has been home she is so exhausted that she can hardly take care of Livvey. She was offered a job as housekeeper for Doyle which came with living quarters and meals. When they arrive at his home with some groceries his old housekeeper from Chicago is waiting for him on the porch. They go inside and he decides that Cassie can clean and Olive can cook. That doesn't sit well with Cassie and she tells Olive to leave so she and Doyle can get together. Now Doyle has a huge problem. Does he keep both of them or does he follow his heart for a the woman he has fell in love with?

Olive has always regretted breaking her promise to Doyle to return, but the lure of adventure was irresistible. Now back home to help her sisters sell the family home, after having nearly died in her pursuit of adventure, she sees things differently. In fact, it almost feels like time to settle down. Doyle has never forgotten Olive, but he has no intention of giving her his heart again to have it stomped on. In fact, he plans to avoid her at all costs. Only it seems God has something else in mind, or the pastor wouldn't have proposed Olive as his housekeeper... Will spending time together again bring to light all they could have had, or bury it beyond remembrance?

A sweet addition to the stories of the three sisters, as well as of Raspberry Ridge in general. With how much Olive's sisters' stories are mentioned, it may be best to read them first, but this is still a standalone story. As usual with this author, I appreciated various thought-provoking discussions, some touching passages, an inspiring message and an overall delightful story. I particularly appreciated Olive's attitude towards 'the competition', because it's an important thing in life and not an attitude that the world encourages. All in all, a good read and I look forward to more in the series.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

"Sin always seemed so seductive before one fell, and it always felt so vile and terrible when one was spending the rest of their life regretting it."

Second chances, consequences from sin, what a true friends do, and so much more. This Christian small town romance, set by picturesque Lake Michigan was an incredible addition to this series. I adored it.

This book touched me in so many different and personal ways. From politics to life as a pastor’s wife (no, my husband is not a full time pastor, but things still hit home). I feel like God wove this book together for me and it’s my new favorite.

I adore how Gussman doesn’t shy from the hard topics. While so many authors are “watering down” and “softening” the Christian aspects of their book, Gussman’s books not only don’t do that, but Biblical truth is the fabric of their existence. You can’t have a Gussman book without Biblical truth, it wouldn’t work. If you eliminated that, you’d be left with a story that’s holier than Swiss cheese! Or cheesecloth…

Another fantastic read and I absolutely cannot wait for what she writes next.

I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Olive returns to Raspberry Ridge to help her sisters prepare their parent’s home for sale. She returns with a baby and a new relationship with Christ. The last person she wants to see is her high-school sweetheart – Doyle who has also recently returned to their small hometown. He has one goal – to avoid Olive. However, the Lord has a sense of humor, and the new pastor, Olive’s future brother-in-law, sets her up to be Doyle’s housekeeper. Much humor and conflict follow. Can the Lord bring good, even better, from past mistakes?

Quotes: “Bad choices always had consequences, ….”
“Because with God, she didn’t need her strength, she only needed His.”
“It was funny how when everything was going well, she hadn’t given God much thought, but as soon as her life was in danger, and her daughter was potentially going to lose her mother, and she had no one else to turn to, she clung to God, and to her surprise, He answered her prayers.”

I also enjoyed another cameo of Becky from Strawberry Sands.

I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.

This is the 5th book in the Raspberry Ridge series. It is a standalone but each book has characters from prior books so I found it more fulfilling to read all the books in order.

In this story we meet the third and youngest Jardine sister, Olive, and her 2 month old daughter, Livvy. Olive is finally home from Ecuador where she had been critically ill with malaria. She's over the malaria but is very run down and having trouble fighting fatigue.

Olive's high school boyfriend, Doyle, hires her as his cook/housekeeper. He is unaware of Olive's health issues. Doyle is also unaware that he is about to be surprised when he gets home from a shopping trip. Who is waiting for him? And why?

That is just a small taste of Into the Golden Dawn. There are two weddings and an engagement so this story is brimming with happily-ever-afters.

True to Jessie Gussman's style, this is a clean, inspirational, Christian romance. The characters are interesting and are people I would like to have as friends.

A line I really like is "in every regret there's a rainbow". So true

I recommend Into the Golden Dawn for anyone that likes feel-good stories.

I was given an ARC of this story from BookFunnel at the request of Jessie Gussman, the author. All thoughts and comments are mine, given voluntarily.

Olive is back in Raspberry Ridge to help her sisters clean out her parent's mansion to sell it. Olive has traveled the world for the last 10 years. Looking for "home", but realizing that it's not where she had been looking. She was in Ecuador living with a man. When she got malaria right before she gave birth, he left. For 2 months, she was so sick. The Lord was all she had. She is back and ready to turn her life over to God. The first person she runs into is Doyle. The boy/man she was in love with, but left. Olive is flat broke and still recovering. She needs a job, so Garnet and Mertie tell her that Doyle is looking for a housekeeper/cook. She goes to work there, but Cassie - his housekeeper from Chicago also shows up. She and Olive talk and are "friends". Cassie tells her that if she is really her friend, she'll leave. So Olive leaves. Doyle is mad and goes to take care of Olive, who is still recovering from malaria. This is probably my favorite of the Raspberry Ridge books. Finding "home" among people who love and care about your despite your mistakes.

This is the fifth book set in Raspberry Ridge, and each book in this series has been a great combination of sweet and serious storylines. Jessie Gussman always tackles difficult subjects in a way that touches my heart while revealing the truth taught in God's Word. In this book Doyle has to face his bitterness about being abandoned by the woman he loved when she returns to live in Raspberry Ridge, bringing along her newborn baby. Olive has acknowledged the bad decisions that she has made, and now has a desire to live a life that depends on God. When she is challenged to put her words into action she willingly takes the hard road, trusting God to make everything work out.
This book is a HEA and a standalone, but because of the storyline here, reading this one out of order will reveal the ending of several of the previous books in the series. I am reviewing an ARC of this book, and this is my honest opinion.

Have you ever wished you had better foresight than hindsight? Olive, the female main character in this book, has regrets due to trusting in her own wisdom instead of in God’s wisdom as revealed in the Bible. She has lived and learned from her mistakes and now has returned to Raspberry Ridge with a little souvenir from her travels. I loved the male main character, Doyle, who was gently spurned by Olive in their late teens and, after waiting for years, has given up hope of ever having Olive as his wife. I’ve enjoyed this series with its themes of redemption and restoration. It shows how God forgives and works for good in lives that are surrendered to Him. This book can be read as a standalone but there are some big events that take place with characters from previous books in the series that you will appreciate more if you read the earlier books. Highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinion expressed are entirely my own.

Into the Golden Dawn~ Raspberry Ridge #5 by Jessie Gussman

Into the Golden Dawn has just shot straight to #1 as my favourite book in this amazing series! I didn't think that Jessie could write anything better than the previous four books, but she has.
This is Olive and Doyle's story, Olive a worldwide traveller has come home to Raspberry Ridge and would like to stay, but her sisters have other ideas.

Can the past love of Doyle help? Has he changed over the years? will he forgive Olive for what happened in the past? Will they get their second chance?

A brilliant heartfelt story that draws you in from the start until the end, I was engaged throughout the book, and I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series to all.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read, Happily Ever After, Inspirational, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, and Wonderful characters

Olive Jardine finally comes home to Raspberry Ridge where her sisters Amara and Mertie have been fixing up their old mansion. Amara and Mertie have found their true loves and when Olive arrives they discover she has been very sick with malaria and has also given birth two months before. Olive runs into her old flame from years ago Doyle McKenny. She had wanted to travel the world and had broken his heart. When he needs a housekeeper, she inadvertently ends up with the job. Soon their romance is tentatively rekindled.

As with many of her books, Jessie Gussman weaves themes of God’s grace and forgiveness throughout the story. Each of the sisters in the Raspberry Ridge series has had to deal with issues of unforgiveness, hidden sin, and learning how to return to God’s ever-open arms. These are lovely gentle stories and always a pleasure to read.

Olive is finally healthy enough to get back to the US after her globe trotting, free-spirited days and severe health scare with malaria. She heads back to Raspberry Ridge to help her sisters clean their parents' mansion to get it ready to sell. As soon as she arrives, she sees Doyle, the guy who was her best friend and never wanted her to leave for good. What does he think when he sees Olive with a baby in tow and so weak that she can barely walk? Will they have a second chance to explore what could have started years before, or will Olive's illness and lack of any money make that impossible.
Grab this book if you enjoy clean contemporary stories filled with inspirational teachings! I received and advance e-copy of this book from the author. That in no way influenced my review.

'Into the Golden Dawn' was heartfelt. The moving plot was filled with having a sisterly reunion, introducing a baby to the aunts, giving the backstory to the baby's father, spirituality, confessing to a teenage daughter, preparing for a wedding, receiving an interesting proposition, and a knight in shining armor.
Moreover, I liked the author's writing style: well-written and engaging characters, an idyllic eastern portion of a midwestern setting, references to meaningful scripture and values, vivid descriptions which created an upbeat tone, and an amazing storyline that held my interest. Overall, I liked the captivating narrative.

Olive and Doyle were a couple years ago but haven't spoken in years.
She was kind of spoiled and had a vagabond spirit, so she left town to travel the world.
He's upset to see her back in town, but his good guy image isn't an act. She needs a job and a place to stay, and he offers both.

The story highlights how selfless he is, but Olive is pretty awesome, too. Her experiences lead her to a solidifying of her faith.

As with the other books in this series, there is a lot of Bible quoting and truth speaking. I loved it!

Another amazing story from Jessie Gussman. Olive and Doyle were close friends who had both grown up in Raspberry Ridge. Olive eventually left Doyle behind since she had always wanted to see the world. Doyle was somewhat irate as well as devastated. When she returns to Raspberry Ridge a few years later, she meets up with her sisters to help with the selling of their parents' mansion, recover from a sickness, and get to know them better. She needs to let everyone in on a secret. This book is full of incredible love and forgiveness, and Jessie Gussman constantly prioritizes God. Both this book and the complete series are highly recommended.

After reading Mertie and Amara’s stories I was hoping this would be about Olive and it is a surely did not disappoint. An amazing story about Olive and Doyle written by Jessie Gussman dealing with real life problem that exist in their country and world. This story is written so eloquently and contains just the right amount of love, friendship, trust, and most importantly God and what he teaches in the Bible. Their story shows the true meaning of life repeating itself, from friendship to love to separation and back again to friendship, love and marriage. I just loved this story and the characters it just flowed seamlessly. I highly recommend this book.

Mertie and Amara have been in Raspberry Ridge getting their parent's mansion ready to sell. Olive had been giving excuses why she wasn't able to come yet.

In this book, she decides to go back and be honest with her sisters. Doyle, the man she left behind when she wanted to travel, was surprised when he saw her in town with a baby. He wondered if she had gotten married.

Will Olive also be truthful with Doyle? Will they have a second chance with their relationship?

Thank you, Jessie, for writing another faith-filled and inspirational story.

Growing up in Raspberry Ridge, Olive Jardine and Doyle Lowry were there for each other. However, after high school, Olive decides that she needs to see the world and leaves Doyle nursing a broken heart. After many adventures and some mistakes, Olive returns home to Raspberry Ridge. She tells her sisters that she’s there to help them get their house ready for sale, but she knows in her heart that she’s home to stay. Olive arrives with a surprise too! Doyle doesn’t know if he should trust Olive, but his heart never stopped loving her. When it’s apparent that Olive needs help, Doyle steps up and is there for her. This is a wonderful story of loyalty and friendship.

Another beautiful, heartwarming story from an author that teaches us important life messages in every book. Olive and her sisters come back to Raspberry Ridge to fix up their parent’s home to sell. Olive had been all over the world and then found herself in some trouble. Doyle was a loyal trusted friend that always had a special place in his heart for Olive, but even he found that when he first saw her, he had some bitter feelings at her for leaving him years before. This is a wonderful story of second chances, forgiveness and growing. A story that made me stop and consider myself. Highly recommend reading this book and series.

The third of the Jardine sisters, this is Olive's and Doyle's book in the Raspberry Rdge series by Jessie Gussman. Olive's life before returning to Raspberry Ridge is the reality of SO many young women today. The way Olive's life transitions from destitute and nearly homeless to sheltered and loved by Doyle is a true happily ever after story that shows God working all things for good and redeeming sin to create beauty from ashes. The beauty of forgiveness, the joy of second chances, the gift of a child, the growth to maturity and the resilience of sisterhood all come together to create a wonderfully inspirational and encouraging read.

I love how real Doyle's and Olive's initial reactions are upon seeing each other after so many years, and the struggle Doyle has within himself on how he'll treat her after she seemingly rejected him one more time. I truly love the character both Olive and Doyle ultimately show. Especially Doyle upon learning that Olive has a newborn, is ill, and he just gave her a job and ends up taking care of her instead. Olive is a real trooper - ill, with a newborn, and just wants to attend her sisters weddings. And Olive shows true, unconditional, Christian friendship. A great book in true Jessie Gussman style.

Each of these books in this series are so inspiring. Second chances and God’s grace at the forefront with siblings, and rekindling friendships and first loves. Olive thought her happiness was wrapped up in traveling abroad and experiencing new things. Choices have consequences and it is ultimately how we navigate those choices that brings fulfillment and joy. Doyle is the first love Olive left behind several years ago and he is the one that steps up to help her when she returns sick with a baby to take care of. We see God’s timing in their relationship as they learn to trust and rekindle their love.

Another wonderful book that shows us everyone makes mistakes.
Olive Jardine finally returns to town with a big surprise in hand. She has a lot of explaining to do to her sisters about her life away..
But the main thing that she has done is acknowledge she made mistakes that led her astray. Now she is back in town ready to turn her life back to the lord, develop a closer relationship with her sisters and ask forgiveness from a friend she left behind.
I love these books because they always teach me something about how I should be living my life.

This is the 5th book in the Raspberry Ridge Sweet Beach series. Oh I don’t want this series to end! Olive was the carefree adventurous sister of the three Jardine sisters. She had finally made it back to Raspberry Ridge to help her sisters getting their deceased parents house cleaned up and ready for sale. Olive brings home a surprise a little two month old Livvy. She had been in Ecuador and accidentally got involved with a married man. And, not only that but she came home completely wore out and could barely take care of Livvy. But then she becomes involved with Doyle Lowry which totally surprised her.

I received this ARC from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

We all make mistakes. Some follow us for years. Loved the caring and concern the characters had for each other and the way the story unfolded with normal people discussing their options based on God’s word and working to live as the Bible says. Especially the way Olive behaved as Cassie requested for Cassie to see how real God was. Gentle as always, some of the discussions called me to think and some answered a question I have been wrestling with.

Received an ARC and this is my honest, unsolicited review.

Another great pearl on the string. Lots of really good lessons in this one too. Really enjoyed how they spaced the weddings. Love the inclusion of God's recipe to conquer and eradicate sin, and how can grow in this. The examples of selfless love and giving are priceless. The kernel of great price is " living your life on purpose" at every stage of life. Enjoyed every minute of this great story, that keeps giving, as it continues stories from before this book too. You've got to read this series. It's truly inspiring.
