THE SHOCKING CONCLUSION OF THE ULTIMATE OPENING ARC! Spider-Man must finally confront the head honcho Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin! Kingpin, as owner and operator of the Daily Bugle, has been working with the Maker's Council to control the spread of information in their favor… Which means he's the first domino that must be toppled to end their regime! Mary Jane holds her own. 'Nuff said!

spidey fans (such as myself) have been waiting for this for so long; wanna personally thank reed richards for creating this timeline where Peter is normal and doesn’t sell his marriage to the devil
Okay!! Between the pitch perfect wrap-up to the first arc of USM and the banger of an opening to the Ultimates, the Ultimate line is firing on all cylinders. It’s almost like Marvel figured out that the best way to make comics is to…let fantastic creators make comics.
Man, getting this issue yet again dunking on the main Spider-Man status quo and getting the news that Zeb Wells is leaving Amazing Spider-Man within 24 hours of each other? Spidey fans are eatin’ good right now!
Ultimate Spider-Man #6 is a formative finale to the first arc. I really liked the issue, and seeing Marco Checchetto's art back is always amazing to see. The only thing I'm left wanting on in this book is a bit more engaging action. Seeing as it's Peter still getting his feet under him as well as Harry, I can understand. It's their first big fight. Against an opponent they were both completely unprepared for. I just want my jaw to drop at some point from how amazing that will be. I know we'll get there. Before then, we've got some of the best characterization in Spider-Man that I could ask for. It's not 616 Peter and this still feels like the most genuine version of him we've seen in almost 20 years. Peter who cares about his family, Peter who doesn't WANT to hurt people or commit crimes if he doesn't have to. A real boy scout in the best way. Just a good guy doing everything he can to do the right thing. All the while being led by a man with a much more cynical and potentially sinister agenda. The inevitable confrontation between Peter and Harry will happen but the build up of their mutual trust being established and reinforced over time is a fantastic stepping stone into creating a satisfying and devastating falling out. I am also left wondering about Richard's attitude toward Peter's reveal. MJ's I can understand. She has clearly wanted Peter to really come out of his shell and be the person she knows he wants to be. And while dangerous she know that this is his choice and will stand by him as this is a broken world without many heroes. It hasn't gotten to the point where it's TOO dangerous. We'll see if we ever get there and if that creates tensions between them. Richard however is a curious case. I'm interested in seeing what his real thoughts are. I'm sure we'll diver deeper into it. But I will admit seeing the final page and how the name of Spider-Man becomes reality once again was very nice to see, generally speaking I think we all love to see it. This Ultimate universe continues to reinvent the Marvel Universe and it's absolutely fantastic.
The first arc of Jonathan Hickman’s Ultimate Spider-Man comes to a thrilling conclusion, solidifying its place as Marvel's best current Spider-Man series. In these six issues, Hickman has masterfully crafted a fully realized world with his version of new, yet not-new characters. It has delivered everything Spider-Man fans crave: intense action involving a mature Peter Parker, who also has a home life that includes his perfect partner, MJ. But none of it is lip service. There is an intentionality in this book that shows the creative team knows exactly what they want to do and are flexing all of their creative muscles to achieve it at an extremely high level.
While we see how much of a family man he is in this universe, I’ve loved how much Peter’s family has shaped the superhero he has become. May helped him choose his costume a few issues ago, and in this issue we see that MJ decides on his name. I actually hadn’t even realized he had never used it yet, but I nearly teared up upon its first appearance once I realized what Hickman was doing. Hickman has shown he can write superheroes of all stars and stripes, but I didn’t know he was so good at writing these softer moments. The dynamic between the Parker family is not what we typically see in pop culture. They have their flaws and disagreements, but they’re respectful of one another and aren’t afraid to show their love.
Marco Checchetto returns to art duties and immediately reminds us why he is one of the best in the business. Every scene, every character and facial expression, every minor piece of background is drawn with precise detail. His Kingpin looks downright terrifying. His action panels are brilliantly choreographed with an intensity that makes you feel every bump & punch along with the characters. This isn’t just art, it’s an experience.
Colors from Matthew Wilson bring Checchetto’s designs to life with deep palette that runs from hot to cold to help set the necessary mood. His rich red and oranges during the battle between Spider-Man, Green Goblin, and Kingpin create an intensity that draws you in. Rounding everything out is Cory Petit's lettering which perfectly ties the visual & written aspects of the book together for a complete packaging.
Ultimate Spider-Man #6 is more than just a great Spider-Man comic – it's a near-perfect comic, period.

What an AMAZING to end to this SPECTACULAR arc! This ALL-NEW take on Peter has been such a breath of fresh air. There are so many things that I want to see from this run and now I wait with bated breath. The potential of this book is truly UNLIMITED.
Poor puns aside, I really loved every aspect of this book. The conflict both in and out of costume was super nice, and we got an even greater look at how much of a loving family Pete has. Mary Jane, who hasn’t had a whole lot going on in these first 6 issues, really shines here and I’m so excited to see her written in a way that doesn’t make me dislike her. Thank goodness for Hickman’s writing and all the care he puts into crafting these characters and this world.
This issue is essentially: level 5 party members take on a level 20 boss and get thrashed.
Also this issue: the end of the first arc and honestly it was very good but it was missing something for me after issue #3 (still the best issue yet imo). I feel as if issues 4 and 5 slowed down too much and spent too much time on…Harry’s back story? I’m unsure but will go back and read 1-6 again.
Lastly, MJ was too understanding in the reveal and it felt odd, but then there aren’t really heroes in this universe so she wouldn’t really know how dangerous it really is. Also, she *does* in fact have reservations about Peter taking up this task. Also, in issue 1, they did have a talk and when Peter said there was something he felt he needed to do, she backed him.
Anyway, I’m still on this until the end. Nice to see Pete and MJ together. And that’s really the linchpin of this series (and the kids of course).
Read 1-6 in some sort of collection book. As my first ever comics at age 20, these were bangers. Great art and an interesting story. As a kid I was always a fan of Spider-Man, but the movies and shows only ever portrayed him as a teen. As an adult, Peter Parker has a lot more at stake than his more common teenage version. Now he has the struggle of figuring out his powers, with the added responsibility of an entire life he has to protect. The ultimate universe being one where all heroes never got their powers leads me to wonder what is different, are the villains stronger than ever because they never had anyone to stop them? I guess I’ll find out.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Sorry, let me gain my bearings here for a second.
I think this has to be my favorite issue as of yet. It ended way too quickly for my liking. But the action and the tension this thing gives off is just immaculate. I know I'm way obsessed with Harry, but I mean can you blame me? ESPECIALLY when you look at him in this series! And don't even get me started on the rest of the characters. Peter? Forget about it. They are so well-written and just perfect. That battle with Fisk was a wonderful *chef's kiss*. I cannot sing this series' praises enough.
Just read Ultimate Spider-Man #6 by Hickman & Checchetto — the pacing picks up a bit here as we finally get some momentum with Peter, Harry, and the rising tension around the Maker’s plans. There’s action, mystery, and a growing sense of dread that something big is coming. Doc Ock makes his first move, and we get more insight into this world’s strange tech and power structure. Loved the way Hickman is weaving in familiar elements with a fresh twist. Still a slower burn than expected, but the intrigue is building nicely. Solid issue.
Again, amazing art and a great end to the first arc, but: For one the family drama felt too quickly resolved, though hopefully future issues dwell on it longer. There wasn't any Ben and JJJ which is getting annoying because I want to see their story progress, but the fight, albeit short, was really good, especially seeing how Peter and Harry are not ready for this.
This is a fantastic adaptation of Spider-Man that introduces enough differences to the Spider-Man mythos to keep the universe feeling fresh. It finally delivers what the general audience has been wanting from the mainline series for years. The story unfolds slowly, but the last page of this issue nearly brought me to tears. The artwork is also exceptional. I'm glad to be reading a Spider-Man series again after having given up on the other Spider-Man comics.
CAGE MATCH! That was so awesome lol It’s been so cool seeing GG and Spidey team up. The family is all in on the secret now and the dynamics of that are already interesting after the initial reveal. I love how May picked the suit design and MJ picked the name. This was the perfect ending for the opening arc. So excited for what’s to come!

I just can't rate this at five stars. Yes, I know that it's petty, but as long as they use that boring seen my entire life suit design, I doubt that I'll ever give it five stars. Other than that, though, it's five stars. There's just so much potential to create a better costume that doesn't match the 616 version that it's just unforgivable.
As always, this series continues to be great, and this issue was no exception. However, I think some of the events that happened here felt a little rushed in the overall context of the series for my liking. Otherwise, this was an interesting first arc, but now there are questions abound for where the story is heading overall. I'm excited to see what happens next!
Kingpin is scary as shit holy fuck. It’s so cool seeing Goblin and Spidey team up as friends like wow who would’ve thought. I also loved the transparency of Peter revealing his hero gig to his family and how MJ is the one to suggest the name “Spider-Man”. What an amazing run of issues so far.
While I'm glad the identity reveal went as well as it did I want a little more from it. Maybe some shit will go down between Peter and his son soon. Otherwise I loved this issue especially the final few pages. MJ's a keeper fr
