This was my first book by Alexa Ashe and the second book from the Whispers of Fate series of standalone books by different authors that all involve the solar eclipse that I have read and I really enjoyed this book. This book is about a fox shifter with a cursed family and the witch he is fated to and I enjoyed getting to know both of their characters and seeing how they found the way to work through the obstacles that they faced. It was also nice getting to read a book involving a solar eclipse with one having happened earlier in the month. I look forward to checking out what else this author has written.

Ryker is a fox shifter who has decided to leave his skulk. His family has been cursed for generations. He and his mate would die. He wants to avoid that sentence. He is on the run when he hears a howl of pain. He goes in search of where the injured shifter is located. He comes upon a B&B and goes inside. There he scents a witch.
Sylvie is at this B&B for a vacation and a time of reflection. She's speaking to the hostess, Nola, when she senses someone entering. She's taken to her room. As she's in the tub she hears a noise and goes to find what is going on. She finds the man who had come into the lobby asleep on her bed. She wakes him very rudely. Then when they try to leave they discover that the house is magic and they are locked in. So they need to figure out why they can't get out. When they finally discover what is going on and what they have to do it is daunting and scary. Will they make it out? Will they be able to achieve what may be unachievable?
Another fantastic story in this eclipse series.

I really liked how the magic worked in this one, and how history impacted the present. Sylvie is coming to what she thinks is a relaxing getaway by herself when she meets the eyes of a gorgeous man. A man who ends up being a fox shifter, and is in her room when she gets out of the bath?? Why is he here?
Either the innkeeper is losing her marbles, or is driving fate towards a bigger picture. Using elements inside the room, Sylvie and Ryker figure out that their histories may hold the key to letting them out of this room. Magic, curses, and the power of an eclipse drive their decision making for the night, and their futures hang in the balance of one decision.
Will they be able to break the curse, or will they be fated to either die or be alone forever? Find out in this quick and spicy novella!

A Night (or two) at the Magic House
4-5* Funny, little story about a fox-shifter, who is on the run for a curse that has plagued his family for generations and a witch, who is somehow connected. It’s the magic of the house that plays a big role in what happens to the couple and in the end both have to make their own choice.
It’s a lovely novella, filled with magic and two strong characters who face life changing questions that need to be answered. Loved it!

Ryker is cursed and if he finds his fated mate, they will die. Sylvie is a witch and has made her way to the B&B for solace and quiet. When the two of them are stuck together in a room, they find they have more in common than they could ever imagine and perhaps be able to change the future. A beautiful and heartwarming short story about love and forgiveness that will captivate you from the beginning.

This was a sweet paranormal romance novella with a decent level of spice, some humor, and a satisfying HEA. The two principals, Ryker the fox and Sylvie the witch, had good chemistry, and worked well together, which is a good thing, because almost the entire book was just the two of them in a locked room, working out the mystery of why they were locked in together and how they would get out.
But I wish it had been 10-20% longer. I felt there was need for more background information, and a more detailed look at some of their motivations. It sometimes seemed to me that it was implied any couple could have broken the curse, but other times it seemed clear that it had to be descendants of the original cursed and the original curser. And it was never clear exactly what role the eclipse played in it all. Why did they have to time their efforts with the eclipse? This was never explained. Would another couple have had to do so? If so, it’s unlikely anyone else could have broken the curse, because while total eclipses of the sun are not uncommon in the world as a whole, they don’t happen frequently in any given location. While Sylvie gave. A lot of running commentary about her magic, she never addressed any of these questions. I also found Sylvia’s reaction to her prophetic dream surprising, and the exact opposite of what I would have expected. Her reaction was explained very briefly, and to me, not convincingly. A more in depth look at her feelings and thoughts was warranted,

Nola is hostess at the Mystic Getaways resort, she helps her guests find their fated mates, even if they think they don’t want a mate. Fate is a siren’s call that must be answered. Ryker is a cursed fox shifter trying to escape the Blackthorn curse that killed his parents and grandparents. Terrible cruel punishment for a betrayal, all of his bloodline cursed. Can never have a mate or child, death will follow. Sylvie is a powerful witch looking for solace at Mystic Getaways, she longs for someone to see and understand her. Nola takes her to her room, promises food and returns to front desk and Ryker. Sylvie comes into her bedroom after a relaxing bath to find Ryker asleep in her bed. She tips water on him, they argue about room so decides to go talk to Nola. The door is spelled shut, no way out of the room, they study the room and find a collection of shifter and witch books. They are locked in together for a reason, they must find a way to break the curse. Much is learned from the books and Sylvie has three of her grandmother’s grimoires filled with knowledge. Ryker knows Sylvie is his fated mate, can he walk away from her if they fail. They have become very close, they must succeed and break the curse. Their future together awaits them. Beautifully written story with fantastic characters and situations and a delightful ending. HEA awaits them. Great reading, I loved 🥰 this book.

Ryker, the male fox shifter lead, knows there’s a curse on his family and has separated from his skulk in the hopes of NOT finding his fated mate and therefore not having children and ending the curse with himself. But when he hears the howl of a shifter in pain, he knows he has to help.
Sylvie, the female witch lead, is looking for a break. When she saw a beautiful place offering a fantastic escape deal, she leaped at the opportunity to get away. She didn’t expect a random shifter to end up magically locked in the same room as her.
The connection they feel is electric but Ryker knows it’s too dangerous. Sylvie thinks maybe they can do something about his curse though…
This short story is dual POV, well written, and a sweetly steamy, contemporary shifter/witch romance. I appreciated Ryker’s concern for his future mate and his determination to keep her safe. I enjoyed Sylvie’s determination to do what she could to help Ryker, even before she knew he was her fated mate. This is, without a doubt, one of the best love stories I have had the pleasure to read in 2024.
Sylvie is a witch with a special affinity that is referred as truth. Do not try to bullshit her as it won't work. She is, however confused currently and decides to take a small vacation at a small Bed and Breakfast where she meets Nola the B & B owner/manager.
Ryker is a fox shifter that has temporary left his skulk . His family is afflicted with a curse where when two shifters bond and claim each other, the only thing found left of them, in the morning is their frozen hearts on the bed. Ryker wants love and to find his fated mate without having their short lives ended before they can appreciate the joys of family life. He ends up in a small
B & B with the owner/manager is named Nola.
I'll stop here as not to give the plot away. However, I must say that this author succeeds with her story in gripping her readers attention, from the beginning and keeps the reader literally riveted to the story, making it a page turner that I Highly recommend and rate 5 STARS.

Lightly spicy fated mates read between a fox shifter ( Ryker ) and a witch ( Sylvia ), taking place during the solar eclipse. I’m totally loving all of the “Solar Eclipse “ books out this year due to 2024 having one ! Neither one is looking for love, just answers and time away from their every day lives. Nola as usual uses her knowledge of past, present and future to help them along. Locking them inside as she has all the other couples, to hurry them along. Ryker really doesn’t want to find love as he believes he’s cursed to hurt the one he loves, and he has done everything to keep that from happening Sylvia is at the B&B to recharge her magical batteries and make decisions for her future. They use the books and scrolls from the library to aide in their endeavors. Well written characters and a solid storyline make this one of the best in this series to date. I received a copy of the book from the Author and am choosing to leave this review.

I loved this book. There are three in this series by different authors, can be read as stand-alone. The storyline and characters are well developed. This was a steamy paranormal romance ever. Their love was forbidden and she was playing with fire due to that he was cursed. The chemistry and physical attraction between them was like a rollercoaster ride of sensation. They were drawn to a hidden B&B in the heart of the woods, fate threw them together, and they were unexpectedly locked in, with nowhere to hide from the desire that sparks between them.

This was a short story but all I can say is Wow! I loved it. The two main characters are Ryker, a fox shifter and Sylvie a witch with the ability to discern truth. But I would be remiss if I left out the other characters of Nola and the Mystic Getaways magical B and B which always knew what Ryker and Sylvie needed even if they didn't know it at the time. Add in a generational curse of Ryker's family, an eclipse and forced proximity who knows what might happen. Will Ryker and Sylvie be able to break the curse and get their HEA?
With Mystic Getaways they just might have a chance. I highly recommend you check this out. It might be a novella but it packs a lot into the story nevertheless and kept me highly entertained.

Ryker left his skulk because of the Blackstone curse when fated mates come together when the woman wakes up all there is a heart of stone left and after the child is born then a heart of stone left of the mother. He was out running and heard a scream went to see if he could help but then was stuck in the B&B told them he would leave the next morning. Sylvie went to the B&B for solace came out of the bathroom found Ryker in her bedroom but when he went to leave the door was locked on them. They brought together to break his curse as she was his fated mate but he was going to deny it needed her help as she was a witch. In one spell they found out why his family was cursed and what to do to unweave the curse, then they were released. Good book!.

Must read. OMG 😱 fantastic story. This was a steamy paranormal romance ever. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. It was addicted and mind blowing 🤯 spicy moments. Their love was forbidden and was she play with fire due to that she was cursed. Was her clan family did next when they find out that she was in love with the enemy who might be her fated mate. The chemistry and physical attraction between them was like a rollercoaster ride of sensation. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. The story begins with a grim atmosphere as the characters deal with a curse that has taken the lives of many fox shifters and their fated mates. The MMC has been trying to avoid the curse from coming true in his generation, but fate catches up with him. He finds himself locked in a room with his destined mate, and together, they work to break the curse. It was a difficult task that required a lot from them, but with the help of magic, love, and forgiveness, they overcame the curse and achieved a happy ending.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. Ryker is on the run from a curse that has plagued his family. He refuses to allow this curse to continue, and vows that the curse ends with him. As the last surviving member of his family, the curse will end with him as long as he does find his mate. Ryker ends up at a bed and breakfast. Fate is cruel. He knows instantly that his mate is here.
Sylvie arrived at Mystic Getaways needing some rest and relaxation. Sylvie and Ryker find themselves locked in a room together. This one night will change their lives forever. Readers will enjoy this journey. A lot happens on the night of the eclipse. A lot of decisions need to be made. Will this couple end before it can start?

Just loved this story. Sylvia is a witch unhappy with how her life is going and Ryker is a fox shifter trying to avoid finding his fated mate because of a family curse. This entertaining story brings them together and break the curse. A real page-turner.

This is really nice paranormal romance. While short, it had a lot of great suspense. I typically read longer books and wished for a bit more background on the characters at the beginning, but any major questions I had were answered by the end. I recommend giving this a book a read!.

Danger and enemies are everywhere (gasp!!!) The main characters must come together as they fight the enemies because their lives depend on despite it being the hunter pack against the wolf pack!! Alexa Ashe does not disappoint with this book.

A great quick, read about two characters trapped in a house during an eclipse, one a fox shifter, the other a witch. They have to work out why they are there and resolve a curse. Super short, but good. :D

This was an interesting short story very well written. If you like two people trapped in a room, with one bed and they have to figure out a mystery and solve it, this could be the book for you! This book made me laugh and was just an overall fun read.
