I wanted to give this book 3.5 stars, but I can’t lie… it earned its 4-star rating.

The author’s writing isn’t anything particularly groundbreaking. In fact, I’d describe it as very very simple. But somehow, I was completely immersed in the story, and that’s what mattered most.

I also can’t believe I’ve reached the point where I can enjoy almost any kind of forbidden romance. There used to be certain ones I absolutely couldn’t stand. Thank God it’s fiction LOL

I genuinely liked the characters. I think both main characters were well written. Ifunanya felt like a realistic 18-year-old, and Gabriel’s maturity came through naturally. I was a little disappointed that he let Anita manipulate him like that considering how smart he was, but I was satisfied with how everything turned out in the end.

The author lost me a bit with the direction the ending took, but as long as Ifunanya wasn’t humiliated in any way, I’m not complaining. I also loved both sets of parents and their friends. They were mature and, most importantly, NOT jealous and toxic.

Overall, another beautiful Nigerian book has found a place on my shelf. A book by an author I’d never even heard of, with zero spice? Hell yeah.

UGHHHHHH OMGGGGG THIS BOOKKKKK!!!

I locked tf in when he sucked the blood off her fingers after she pricked herself. So hot. That's when I knew I wasn't putting this book down.

The story was so progressive and nice af. I loved that it was straight to the point with no unnecessary dragging. I usually don't like books written in second or third person, but I genuinely enjoyed this one.
And to think I've never even heard of this author before? Safe to say I'll be stalking their backlist immediately.
The ending did feel a bit rushed, though, and I really wish Anita got what she deserved. She got off way too easy for my liking.
