About the author

Neal E Fischer is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, podcaster, and pop culture fanatic. He is the author of Being Patrick Swayze: Essential Teachings from the Master of the Mullet (Chronicle Books, 2022) and Behind the Screens: Illustrated Floor Plans and Scenes from the Best TV Shows of All Time (Chronicle Books, 2023), a collaboration with artist Iñaki Aliste Lizarralde. In 2024, Neal will release two trivia books, Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book & The Rom-Com Ultimate Trivia Book (Epic Ink, 2024).

So I scored 245 out of 500 on this rom-com quiz making me the best-friend. As a self confessed rom-com fan this is a challenging quiz with many movies i hadn't actually seen and then even within those I had seen and loved and some I had seen many multiple of times had tricky questions that were not very relevant like what is the name of so and so (minor character) and other minor details type questions. I would much rather have preferred the questions be more focused on the main plot. A little disappointed but anyway it is what it is. Bonus points for the do it yourself rom-com builder. I think i have myself a winner i just need to pitch it to a studio now! 😆

OMG this is so fun and cute!
I got this arc because, as a die-hard fan of romance (both in books and movies), it tickled my nerves immediately. I just opened it, and now I wish I had it on paper to play with it better!
There are different chapters for different romance tropes, a lot of movie-themed quizzes and you can keep your scores and all.
I immediately did a couple tests and will be back for all the others AND to keep track of the few movies I've never seen (and also the ones I saw too long ago).

This arc made me so nostalgic because when I was a teen I was obsessed with tabloids (social media did not exist yet and I had to know what was going to happen on The OC, One Tree Hill and so on..) and in each one there was some kind of trivia about musicians or tv series or movies. I had such fun doing those with my friends. Such sweet memories! ♥

First, a big thanks to the author, Neal E. Fischer, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book, The Rom-Com Ultimate Trivia Book, which is a really cool game book for fans of Rom-Com films and trivia. I will share my review to Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes & Noble upon release. There's lots of different chapters that have themes that correspond with the movies included in each category. The films included span decades, so people of any age could find films they enjoy and know a lot about. I also thought the little tidbits and fun facts about the movies that were included were interesting and a great inclusion. There's directions for how to total your points, and then a content table so you can easily find the games. I love how each movie has its own little design and illustration, and the Rom-Com-Eter is such a cool and fun addition. I had a lot of fun thinking back on some of my favorite movies while playing the trivia games. I also have the craving to watch some of them again now that I couldn't remember some of the answers! Some of my faves were included: My Big Fat Greek Wedding, 13 Going on 30, Crazy, Stupid Love, Bridget Jones' Diary! So many great ones. I loved this little book. I'm looking forward to more of these books with trivia games :)

What a wonderful idea! There are so many quiz books about movies but this is the first one that is fully tailored to rom-coms (that I’ve found). I expected interesting question sets and a bit of a challenge. I wasn’t expecting the beautiful illustrations, the movie context or the trivia. The questions for each film range from “general fan” to “who would ever remember that” but with a nice balance. I can imagine a fun girls’ night finding out which of my friends would get those tricky ones. But I could also see this as a solo book, with a cup of tea or glass of wine, enjoying the finer details of each page. Would make a super gift.

As someone who lives for trivia, this book was made for me and I want more.

The Rom-Com Ultimate Trivia Book is a book of that- trivia games centered around Rom-Coms.

I appreciate that the book is divided by movie instead of mixing the movies together. This can lead to really fun nights of movie specific trivia rounds. The different chapters are organized by tropes, which I found really fun. Between It's Wedding Season, Friends-To-Lovers, and It's Complicated, all genres of rom-coms are covered.

The book also has a mix of romcoms from all eras, so people from all generations will find something to play in this book. I was really excited to see Roman Holiday as one of the movies in the book. The questions are quite difficult, but you can work your way through it.

The Pitch Your Own Rom-Com game in the back of the book is extra fun and feels like an old school game of MASH.

The artwork and formatting didn't feel as complete as I would have liked. The images from the movies felt like they were scanned through a filter to add to the book, looking grainy at times.

What a FUN trivia game for those who love all things rom-com. Age is not a factor as there is a good mix of new and older movies included. Grab a group of friends and set up your trivia night. Instructions are clear and concise and scoring is pretty simple. There are various chapters to cover different tropes of rom coms. Many of the movies have some background info provided, and all questions have answers included so you won’t be left guessing. Maybe you’re more of a loner and just like to read the content and quiz yourself. Whichever is your preference, I don’t think you will be disappointed with this fantastic collection of trivia questions related to all things rom-com.

So. Much. FUN!

Jam packed with over 500 trivia questions ranging from rom com movie facts to actors/actresses facts to fun facts and everything in between. A perfect companion to girls night or date night if your husband watches romcoms, like mine does. 🤣😊

I just love any kinds of trivia but finding one geared toward what I love made this even more fun. Definitely buying this one soon!

Theres a great range of movies, and good questions about all of them. Really fun for rom-com and trivia lovers. It does lean hard on "which did not happen" questions, and would benefit from a contents page that included which movies where. But over all a blast, and I like the bonus content too!
