I get it Lady Who Was Cheated On. You’re SUPER angry and hurt that your husband not only cheated on you with a maid, he did it more than once and got her preggers, then somehow your son ended up naked and shut out in the cold so he got very sick and you think it was the maid who did it, but do NOT take it out on the poor love child!

You don’t get a free pass to be evil and mean and cruel just because you are hurting. All I have to say is poor Camellia. She has legit NO power and no say in her own life and it’s so sad, but she isn’t going to let her situation stop her!

4, the evil lady needs to get over it or just die already and leave my poor Camellia alone, stars.

This is a great start. There's a lot going on politically and some very messy family dynamics, but Camellia is ultimately quite likable and her inevitable love interest is intriguing.

Up to Chapter 112

I thought we were getting close to the end, but now not it's not feeling that way.

I cried a total of 6.5 times while reading this, which is once about every 17 chapters, but feels like more often than that. *not because anything particularly traumatic happens, just big emotions.*

I'm so angry at everyone around Camellia. Everyone has lied and kept things from her, and used her for their own selfish reasons. Even Claude to a certain extent, but he's trying to do and be better. I need Camellia to be angrier and stand up for herself more. I would have run away forever ago and not just thought about it in passing.

The only one who hasn't disappointed me yet is Ian...I know he's probably got some ulterior motive, but maybe not. Maybe all he wants is Camellia. He seems to be the only one who has been forthright with his feelings and intentions.

Camellia is an illegitimate daughter of a marquis by a servant woman who was cast out when she became pregnant. Twelve years later, marquis’s wife snatches Camellia from her mother and brings her to their manor to be a substitute to their son Kieran who is sickly. Camellia has to pretend to be Camillus, their younger son. She tries her best but it’s not easy.

Four years later, she’s sent to the academia at the capital where she captures the attention of the prince who likes pretty things, and the son of a duke who maybe suspects she’s quite not what she seems. The volume ends before things get interesting.

This was a good start to a series, but a bit jumpy. I found myself constantly skimming back to see if I’d accidentally skipped something. Illustrations were full colour and very beautiful.

I received a free copy from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Ok ok so I bought this only because it literally is called **Finding Camellia** I mean I gotta have it on my bookshelf you know?!? I was shocked to see a massive wall of webtoons made into real graphic novels at Barnes at noble and knew that I had to get one 😁. I read this really fast and loved the art. Concept of the story was interesting and I like where it’s going! I would totally buy the next one when it comes out lol. I’ll try not to spoil it by reading the online chapters hehe.

Only qualm is that the nickname is “Lia” because I have never in my life been called Lia and I am so glad bc I kinda hate it lol. It was kind of weird to read a book with “me” as a main character yet the character doesn’t look anything like me 😂.

This book is WILD. Basically, a girl is seen as a potential replacement for a royal because she's born out of wedlock from the King. Her mom was a maid and decided to keep her away from the King, understandable. Now that she's been found, Camellia is posing as a second son to the King, as his first son is sickly and not looking that good. I'm looking forward to the relationship between the various people in the older prince's life and Camellia.

Happy Reading!!

This was a good intro to the series. I like the brother so far.

I hope Camellia reunites with her mom, but I feel like that might not be possible.

Oh no, how is Camellia going to keep this secret with, from what I gather, three different love interests going after her. This is going to be a fun series I can already tell.

Finding Camellia is a historical romance with a unique twist for this character-driven series starter. I'm intrigued to read more about Camellia's journey as she takes on the role of Camellius, the second son of the Bale family, navigates the social political web of royals, dukes, etc. and discovers her way!

I don't read many webtoon / manwhas but I discovered it through the publisher (ize press) and wanted to give it a try- and WOW, it was such a fun time & I can definitely see myself following the future volumes.

Camellia had a rough upbringing in the streets and is found by Anastasia Bale the stern woman of the house, she's got some hidden resentment for Camellia's mother (Laura) and it shows through her harsh treatment of Camellia in the early moments of the story.

As 12-year-old Camellia is forced to take on the role of a boy to stand-in as a second son, she has to quickly grasp etiquette, inner social circles, etc. but there's a withdrawn nature to her & fear that perhaps she won't be able to complete this task to find her mother. However, her older half-brother Kieran and her high-ranking father (who learns of the secret from Anastasia) are some of the supportive people in her life that we see within the story.

There's underlying gender queer themes explored within Camellia's role as a son, so I'm intrigued to see how the evolve as the series goes on especially w/ Camellia/Camellius's softer edges seen by Claude and the prince.

I liked Camellia's gentleness as a character and her internal determination to find her mother despite being stuck in her new role.

The worldbuilding in terms of the setting isn't entirely a focal point and is rather surface level with monarchy, dukes, elite families and the like but its strength is within the political threads layered throughout the opening installment. Camellia is forcibly taken into the Bale family to be a spare essentially for Kieran, so navigating that adds lots of tension to the story.

Jin Soye's artwork has a softness to it that comes through with the characters and backgrounds, overall the emotions of the story are brought across in a magnified way through the art - there's a focus on cooler colors which add to the threads of intrigue from the purples to blues and warmer tones also.

Finding Camellia's plot has a great pacing that's never too fast-paced despite a lot of threads being setup in this first volume, though the ending does feel a bit rushed with that sort of* cliffhanger ending the last few pages.

Extrem toller Reihenstart!

Do you love royal romances with intense family dramas? Finding Camellia is a new take on the classic Cinderella story with ten times the drama and the angst! So, if you’re a fan, you’ll probably love this one!

Overall thoughts
Camellia is currently one of my favorite female manhwa protagonists. She’s so mature and the way she finds her place despite having the rug pulled out from under her feet in such a rude manner is inspiring. She’s a really sweet girl, it’s so hard to not empathize with her situation! There are a handful of love interests lurking about, I’m curious to see who she’ll end up with!

I’m a fan of rags to riches and a good revenge story, so this story ticks all of the boxes. The pacing is wonderfully done and the story always leaves you wanting more. This series is off to a great start! If this sounds like something you might enjoy, I think it’s a really good read!

Who is this manga for
This one is perfect for fans of the Cinderella tale we know and love but with a twist! If rags to riches mixed with a hefty revenge story are things you love, then you’ll probably enjoy Finding Camellia!

Poor Camellia! Her youth wasn't the best (her mom works at a whorehouse and Camellia has to wait outside rain/shine/night/day) and then she was just stolen/kidnapped away by her stepmom because apparently her older brother (yup her real older brother, apparently mom was a servant and had a love story with the man of the house) is sick and they need a replacement just in case. Yup. Camellia is now Camellius. Though seriously, no one is fooled. I just wanted to hug Camellius so many times, steal her away and give her a good life. Because not only does she have to crossdress she is also getting slapped if she doesn't do what she needs to do.
There is also a love triangle between two guys and Camellia (which made me laugh because one is fine with Camellia as being Camellius whereas the other guy is now wondering if he fell in love with a guy).
I am hoping that with the next volume Camellia is able to grab her life back! She deserves it!

this started off strong in the first few chapters, but I still don’t know how I feel about it. I love the whole premise of the fmc being forced to pretend to be a boy for the sake of the kingdom, and i definitely was intrigued by the mother who I saw as evil but also a victim in some way, but once the time jump happened I started losing interest for some reason. I can see this turning into a harem of some sort and I wasn’t in love with the characters. This isn’t a terrible story, but I’m not craving to read it anymore. I may come back later. I’m considering this first volume ch1-21 because GR has 6 volumes on here.

Was entertaining at the start but the constant men infringing on her future prospects became increasingly annoying. The ML was the better choice, but even he kept doing stupid shit rather than just talking to the protagonist. Bloody hell. Also, the other country prince? Mate, she’s engaged and being intimate with the ML, give it up. If given the chance, he’d still be begging for her affections on the day of her fucking marriage - or worse yet, the day after she gave birth! Why did we have to do the same irritating dance multiple times within 30-odd chapters. Fuck sake.

Probably one of my favorite if not my ABSOLUTE favorite graphic novel story! I first read the series on Manta Comics, and quickly fell in love with the story and the characters. When I discovered the series came out in volumes I could not contain my excitement! Some day I hope to own all the books myself so I can enjoy them all the time!

Camellia is such a funny character, and Claude? Mmmm that man is fine! I love the growth of both characters as the story goes on, but I shan't say much since this review is only for the first Volume!

10/10 will ALWAYS recommend!

Interesting story so far. I love the isekai-esque concept of becoming royalty and the inter-family politics. I like that Camellia has some motivations, though they haven't taken her anywhere yet as of volume 1. I'm intrigued to see what happens, and whether the story will be about Camellia's growth, or just her love-life.

Would recommend for fans of "The Abandoned Empress," as it has similar themes and art!

I originally read this on Manta a couple summers ago. I am very excited to see physical copies are being published, and that the books are gorgeous and in full colour. The story is perfect for people who like Victorian-inspired time eras, complicated politics, and familial secrets. Can't wait for the next one to come out!

No one does melodrama like Korean media (sorry, Victorian sensation and sentimental novels), and this one is absolutely engrossing. I think I have to go read the serialized webtoon now instead of waiting for the next print volume.
