Mary K. Baumann is a partner in the Minneapolis strategic design firm Hopkins/Baumann, specializing in publication design. She has lectured and internationally and nationally on visual trends and is both an advisor and faculty member at the Yale Publishing Course. Hopkins/Baumann recently relocated after years in New York to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In addition to her publication work for such publication as People, Life, Money, GEO, Architectural Digest, JAMA and Kids Discover, she has produced and authored the book What’s Out There: Images from Here to the Edge of the Universe published by Duncan Baird. What’s Out There was named one of the “Best Science Books of the Year” by Discover magazine and one of the “Top Photo Books of the Year” by American Photo. She has also completed The Dictionary of Love for Avon books which arrived just in time for Valentine’s Day 2008.

The usual images for an astronomy book, the texts give only basic information about different objects.
