Let me tell the story of how I fell in love with a woman who had no idea that we were even dating. The ridiculousness started when she stole my beer, and trust me, my grumpy self doesn’t normally share. But somehow, Avery Wilson is the exception to every one of my many rules.
Unfortunately, I’m not hers.
Not only is she the daughter of the Rev’s coach who hates me, she’s also sworn off dating for the year.
Little does she know we’ve been doing just that.
Sure, she says I’m her friend when we watch romcoms or spend holidays together, but I’m just biding my time until the year is up.
With her father against me, and a line of men interested in dating her, once she finds out my true intentions, will we survive the fallout?
Author Note: The Fall Out is book one of the Boston Revs Three Outs Series. It is a stand-alone baseball romcom that starts with a one-night stand with the coach's daughter. This friends-to-lovers grumpy sunshine romance will guarantee you tons of fun banter and swoony moments between the hot-headed baseball pitcher and the animal-loving heroine. Add in some laughs with the Revs team and an adorable pet puffin and it is sure to be fun for all.
Jenni Bara lives in New Jersey working as a paralegal in family law, writing real-life unhappily ever-afters every day. In turn, she spends her free time with anything that keeps her laughing, including life with four kids, or five, if you count her husband. She is just starting her career as a romance author writing books with a great balance of life, love, and laughter.
This was okay, but felt dragging in a sense??? One of the reasons is that the time jumps all throughout the story since Avery (27) is adamant about her one-year break from dating. Also, they only decided to date for real at the 81% mark. I mean, that was a freaking sloooowburn, and I didn't like it. It was a long time; I'm not sure if it was wasted, because most of it was spent together, but only as friends. 🤷♀️
Sure, they did cute things when they were "friends", but the absurdity of their friendship made me scratch my head. They are so obvious with their non-friendship feelings for each other. Everyone around them sees the chemistry and the tension, but they continue to refuse to admit it.
I guess I was hoping that Avery would finally end her dating hiatus and realize that Christian is the one for her. After all, he was just patiently waiting for her to come around and give him the chance.
Also, I feel like Chris is not a grump but more like a jerk overall. He's only different with Avery and his family, but with other people, he was awful and disrespectful. With his teammates, the PR head, and especially his coach, who happens to be Avery's father. I cannot get over the first half of this book about how he treated those people and how he's living up to his reputation as a hotheaded athlete. What am I supposed to feel about this trait of his anyway?
Another thing is (I'm definitely nitpicking at this point, but whatever), how did he find time to sleep with other people if he's so averse to being touched? He's a germaphobe and doesn't like touching and sharing things, but isn't it people share a lot of things during sex??? Idk, I just want to figure out how hook up works for him; it made me curious. Anyway, he said it has been years since he has been with anyone. So I guess I should let it pass. 🤷♀️
Overall, this was okay, but I was bored most of the time reading it. It had its good moments, but I'm still not invested in the story. While this didn't work for me, other readers might find this more their cup of tea.
Book info: - Strangers to friends to lovers - Athlete x Coach's daughter - Grumpy (debatable) x Sunshine - ONS then slowburn - Both celibate after their ONS - Non-virgin MCs (h - 3 bfs, H - hookups, but not a hoe) - No cheating, breakup - Miscommunication - OWD (not really, another PR head was talking to him) - OMD1 (a hockey player flirted with her during an event, the MMC interrupted them) - OMD2 (she went on a date because her friends told her so) - Cute birds - HFN (engaged)
famous baseball pitcher who isn’t a whore? i’m sat 🧍🏻♀️ my second book in a row with this trope let’s goooo 😏
⚾️ baseball player x veterinarian ⚾️ coach’s daughter ⚾️ strangers x friends x lovers ⚾️ he’s obsessed with her 🥺 ⚾️ slow burn ⚾️ forbidden ⚾️ grumpy x sunshine
Christian is set to start his first year pitching in the big leagues when he meets Avery during a night out with her friends. her friends want her to take someone home tonight to get over a breakup but she’s not feeling it… until she meets Chris. her friends ditch her at the bar and she ends up spending the night with Chris. she’s ready to spend the night and possibly get to know him better until his roommate tells her they both play for the Revs and she knows she has to leave.
after their night together Avery decides she is taking a year off of dating to figure out what she really wants in a man and to become more comfortable with being herself, not who they want her to be. Chris was upset when he woke up alone and has spent two months searching for the blonde that left his bed in the middle of the night. what he doesn’t expect is for her to walk onto the field during a game to help an injured bird or for her to be the coach’s daughter.
we loveeee a pining pathetic man 🤭
”But I’ve been waiting a year, Avery. A year.” His eyes flashed. “But if you’re ready.” He released his gentle hold and dropped to his knees in front of me. “I am literally begging you to pick me.”
i really loved the progression of their friendship. Chris knows that at the end of the year and her dating hiatus is up he wants to be the man that she deserves. he is known as the explosive hot head and for a while that really bothered me. he is just called up for his first MLB start and he acts like he knows everything. no respect toward his coach (Avery’s dad) and really just has a pissy attitude towards everyone but her. he realized that’s lot the person she needs and he worked on changing himself for the better.
“When I’m upset, angry, or even feeling out of control, your name and the reminder of the first time we connected settles me. Reminds me to work to be the person you need me to be.”
not only did he work on his attitude but he paid attention to every little detail about Avery. her favorite drink? made sure there were always some wherever they were. her favorite types of movies? they were watching them. her favorite coffee/meals? he’d get them delivered/bring them to her whenever she needed a pick me up. he saw how sad moving birds were so the man set up a foundation to keep the puffin (& add more) plus have money just for the aviary side of the zoo 😭 he’s a total germaphobe but Avery? he could handle her touch and sharing food he never made her wait on him, he was always early to their plans he taps his wrist with the syllables for her name when he’s anxious 🥺😭
anyways i just loved Chris and i think i could go on forever about him. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
This book was so dang cute. I’m honestly shocked how much I enjoyed this, mainly because I’ve been reading much darker books recently because of the mood I’ve been in. & also because the friends to lovers trope isn’t my favorite… However, I ATE this book up. It was my first read by this author & definitely won’t be my last! I loved the little glimpses of other couples from both the author & other authors — it made me immediately want to go back & read more of their backlists.
I loved both main characters & could relate to both in different ways. This was just one of those books that had me kicking my feet at all the cute little moments, absolutely loving every second. Christopher, the MMC was SO swoony, he definitely made it on the list with my top book boyfriends of all time.
Thank you to Jenni & her team for the ARC, this was such an amazing start to a brand new series & I’m so excited to continue it soon!
Tropes: - Sports Romance ⚾️ - One Night Stand - Friends to Lovers - Grumpy x Sunshine - Coach’s Daughter - Forbidden Romance - Boy Obsessed
The FMC, Avery, is one of my least favorite leading females, ever. She has the personality of soggy Chex cereal and the depth of a puddle. Her simpleton way of thinking and constant tail between her legs attitude (for no good reason) put me in a bad mood.
The story wasn’t bad and I think it had potential but Avery ruined it all for me. She is a welcome mat in her relationships and decides she needs a year to find herself. ????? Decides to spend multiple days a week with MMC, doing couple-y things, tells him several times that they aren’t dating and then she makes a sudden abrupt move while he is processing a family emergency and she’s surprised when he’s caught off guard????? I wanted to smack her!
This book!!! THIS BOOK! I don’t know what Jenni Barra put in this book, but it was just f*cking magical! I couldn’t stop smiling the entire way through! Addicted. I’m just addicted and you are going to have to pry Christian Damiano from my greedy hands.
It’s always the grumpy ones. I swear I’m ALWAYS going to fall for the prickly, grumpy ones! Especially when they are soft inside. This grumpy man practically adopts a Puffin as his child and NO it cannot get cuter than that.
TROPES ⬇️ ✨ Baseball Romance ✨ Grumpy x Sunshine ✨ Coach’s Daughter ✨ He Falls First ✨ If he Wanted to He Would ✨ One Night Stand to Friends to Lovers
Avery and Christian meet in a bar while Avery is reeling from a bad breakup. Her friends encourage her to have a one night stand, and the person she instantly connects with is the new grumpy pitcher for the Boston Revs. Avery has no idea who Chris is and they have a hot night together where he is instantly smitten, until Avery ghosts him after finding out his identity. When he finds her again aiding an injured Puffin, he learns she is his coach’s daughter, she’s taken a year off of dating, and he is still insanely attracted to her. So they become friends, even though she is off limits.
Let me tell you, the chemistry and spice at the begining of this book is everything and I was pining right along with Christian when I had to wait for Avery to catch back up. But man that slow burn friendship that came after was the most feel good thing to ever exist. Christian is the absolute definition of “if he wanted to he would,” and Avery is an absolute sunshine caretaker. They are perfect, and I will love them forever.
I could absolutely gush about this book FOREVER, but all I’m going to say is: read this because it’s incredible but also read this for PUFF the bird who absolutely steals the show and everyone’s hearts.
Amazing! Love ! He is everything! Almost a Ryan Shay, however it just didn’t get there because it was too short. The foundation was amazing, the friendship was amazing, the get together was amazing, but then it just ended and we didn’t get to see them be a couple very much. I wanted more cute moments with them together not for it to just end right when they finally got together! 😩😩
Also Wren flirting with her best friends dad was nasty. And I have this terrible feeling that they’re going to be a couple and no part of me wants any part of that. I was cringing so hard every time they were together. It was so weird and gross I had to skip those parts.
• Grumpy/Sunshine • Baseball romance • One night stand • Coach's daughter • Germaphobia • Forbidden • He falls first and HARDER
Oh, my heart. This book was so sweet! This was my first Jenni Bara book, and I'm instantly a fan! I loved everything about this book. Avery and Christian's story is full of so much angst and sweetness. From their adorable meet-cute to every angsty moment, I enjoyed it all! The chemistry between these two was 🔥.
These two characters instantly won me over.
Chris was the perfect straight-shooting grump who had an intense aversion to germs. So when he finds himself not bothered by how close Avery is to him or the way she always wants to try something off his plate, he knows he's in trouble and terribly head over heels for her! This man had INCREDIBLE patience when it came to Avery! I loved watching him quietly pine after her while she worked through everything she needed to work through before she could date again! Chris' character WILL have you swooning! Between his patience and his cute gestures.
Avery was ADORABLE. No one had ever made her want to break her father's rules of not dating the players he coached until Christian. And after the night they shared, she knew there was something so special about Chris, and the more time she spent with him, the more she learned just how different he was from everyone she'd dated in the past! Making her question her no-dating rule! I loved her playful personality; she was the perfect FMC for Chris!
🎧Audiobook Review🎧 Duet Narration Narrated by Connor Crais and Rose Dioro
This was such a feel-good audiobook. Connor Crais had me swooning even harder over Chris' character. He was the perfect Chris, and the performance he gave in this audiobook couldn't have been better! He nailed every part of Chris' character, from his grumpy attitude to his sweet, tender side, which only a few got to see. When I found out he was narrating this book, I JUMPED at the opportunity to listen to it as fast as I could! And I devoured every minute! Rose Dioro did an equally as good job with her performance as Avery! I loved her voice, and I'm not sure I could picture anyone else performing Avery's character! She nailed every playful interaction with Chris so well. And the way she captured Avery waring with her feelings for Chris couldn't have been better! This audiobook was so well cast! Jenni really knew what she was doing when she picked these two as Avery and Chris!
I was hooked right from the beginning of this one. I devoured it all in one day.
It starts with the FMC's friends convincing their bestie who is going through a rough break up to have a one night stand. This is where the MMC comes in ... & he's totally fine with hiding what he actually does for a living since he thinks this is just a one night thing.
Of course that's not the case and it gets sooo juicy!

I can't wait to read the rest of this series! Available on KU, ebook, hardcover, paperback, and audiobook.
“Looking at him, the only fallout I could imagine coming from the last year was a happily ever after.”
The Fallout by Jenni Bara
Narrated by : Connor Crais and Rose Dioro
I AM SWOONING SO HARD FOR THIS BOOK! This grumpy/sunshine, friends to lovers romance had me smiling the whole time. Then add in the fact that Connor Crais and Rose Dioro brought these characters to life in duet narration … utter perfection!
This audio book captures you right from the beginning and immerses you into the story. Connor’s deep rich sultry voice was the perfect match for grumpy/sexy Christian. Rose has a fun upbeat tone to her voice that brought our sunshine avian veterinarian to life. This duo’s performance had me giddy the whole time. This audio is a MUST listen.
Avery and Christian met at a bar and ended up hooking up. After finding out that Chris is the new pitcher to the Boston Revs, she snuck out in the middle of the night. Chris has been searching for her. Months later after an incident with a bird at a baseball game, Chris finds out who she is…the coach’s daughter.
You cant help but root for this couple. Chris is chefs kiss book boyfriend material. Our grumpy pitcher knows how to treat a lady. The banter between Chris and Avery was top notch. Add in a puffin sidekick with a germophobe pitcher, and you have side splitting hilarity.

💞 Christian + Avery 💞 Book one in The Boston Revs Three Outs series
Christian + Avery hook up for a night of fun, only problem...Avery has just sworn off dating after a string of bad luck. She also learns Christian is a player on her dad's baseball team and daddy has a strict no dating the players rule. When Avery realizes this she runs out immediately. Now when they meet again can they truly just be friends?!
This one starts with a BANG 💥 right away. I loved it immediately. Their chemistry was great. Then we get to the friends status. Christian is a total cinnamon roll for her. Bending over backwards to do absolutely everything and anything for her! Avery continues to keep him friend zoned for a good portion of the book. Honestly at this point I wish we had a bit of sexual tension, because how could there not be some for this perfect man.... But of course Avery eventually comes to her senses and realizes that Christian never should have been in the friend zone to begin with! Christian was perfection and I can see why @authorbrittaneenicole is out here claiming him up 🤣.
I also have to give a special shout out to "puff" "puff daddy" for being such a fantastic part of this book!
Thank you for this ARC I will absolutely be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one in the series 😍😍.
I am getting so frustrated with modern romance authors and their wrongful interpretations of being a feminist.
We used to complain about manwhores, lack of sentimentality, infidelity, and objectifying women.
Yet, here we find at least one in every 4 romance books where the MFC and her entourage are so brazenly open about their sexuality. Cheering each other to have one night stands to forget about their Shitty relationships. Belittling men as eye candy and taking them for granted as easy lays.
Is this really what self assured women are expected to be! Is this really the message we’re trying to relay? Whatever happened to practice what you preach! Instead we’re picking up the habits we resented in them as a false facade of being an independent woman.
This book had all the elements to be an awesome book, but I cannot get past the double standards.
The book: 👇🏻 Christian is NOT a manwhore, he rarely does hookups. He needs chemistry and someone to make his time worthwhile.
Avery does not do hookups/one night stands either. She just came out of a bad relationship.
Yet, after maybe half an hour together they go back to his apartment and hookup multiple times in the night 🙄 After that she swears off men for a year.
Oh my, I am swooning so hard over Christian Damiano. “The Fall Out” is a sweet, emotional and swoony friends to lovers slow burn baseball romance that was absolutely perfect.
Christian is the new pitcher for the Boston Revs and while out with his teammate, he meets Avery. The two have an instant flirty connection and spend the night together. But in the middle of the night, she discovers that he plays for the Revs. Which under normal circumstances, would be a good thing. Except her father is the coach and has a strict no dating players rule. Months later, Chris still hasn’t forgotten Avery and is shocked to see her when she comes on the field to rescue an injured puffin who had the unfortunate meeting of Chris’ slider. And he’s even more shocked to find out she’s his coach’s daughter. But Chris can’t stay away from her even if they are just friends. As the two spend time together, the chemistry they had is still very much there.
From the meet of these two, I was 100% hooked and invested in Chris and Avery. Chris is a classic grump with a side of being a germaphobe. It’s a quirk he has from childhood and with good reason. He comes off as a hothead, his name is Dragon on the field, but underneath that is a swoony guy who’s love language towards Avery is acts of service (which is my favorite in a man). The way he cares for her and anticipates her needs in everyday life is so sweet and swoony. I know I will smile every time I see a rose gold sharpie. Avery is so sweet, caring and I love that she works at the zoo and with the birds. She’s passionate about her career and truly cares for them all. They might have started as a one night stand but they developed a friendship that just made my heart so happy. I loved the slow burn that they had leading back to getting together. I love when the guy falls first and he does it fast and hard with Avery. The teammates on the Revs were great and I can’t wait to read their stories. And I can’t forget the star of the book and the glue that brought Avery and Chris together, Puff the Puffin. He was so cute and I loved how much he was involved in the story. I loved the ending and it left a big smile on my face.
Connor Crais and Rose Dioro narrated the audiobook in duet and I loved listening to them bring Chris and Avery to life. Connor’s narration was vulnerable and protective, just like Christian. Rose was perfect as Avery, she was caring, sweet and brought her amazing personality alive. This audio was simply amazing and I can’t wait to listen to it again.
4.5 ⭐️ Jenni Bara is a new to me author, but after this book I need to go read her entire backlog!
Avery is convinced by her girlfriends that the right way to get over her crappy ex is to have a one night stand with the hot grump they meet at the bar. She has an amazing night only to realize he’s none other than Christian Damiano, new pitcher for the Boston Revs, who she’s heard a lot about from her dad, head coach of the team. She decides to go on a 1 year dating hiatus to put herself first. After their explosive night together, Christian isn’t willing to move on and is determined to prove he’s worthy of her.
⚾️ Germaphobe Baseball pitcher MMC 🐧 Zoo veterinarian FMC ⚾️ Grumpy / Sunshine 🐧 Coach’s daughter ⚾️ One night stand to friends to lovers 🐧 Forbidden ⚾️ Sports romance 🐧 He remembers her coffee order 🌶️🌶️
THIS BOOK! I love a grumpy MMC and Chris was the perfect blend of grumpy but sweet for her. He always put her first and remembered the smallest details about her. The way he was determined to get her back into his life?? I was kicking my feet and squealing. I loved his relationships with his teammates and family.
Avery was a strong FMC that was also really in tune with her needs and feelings and I really enjoyed her journey. While she chose a partner that had the same profession as her father, Chris showed that she was always more important than baseball, so I think that was incredibly healing for her and I absolutely loved to see it.
Also the side characters were amazing. I never knew I liked Puffins but now I do! Avery’s friend flirting with her dad cracked me up every time, and I can’t wait to read Emerson’s book when it comes out.
Thank you to The Author Agency for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion on this story 🖤
After a rough start, I thought the middle portion of this book was pretty readable. I'm never going to be out on a book that has a decent amount of pining. I just wish the characters had more depth to them besides surface level quirks like "my mom died of a germ disease and that's why I have issues with germs" which is the kind of character color a 12 year old would come up with. The way the MMC constantly praises the FMC for her NLOG energy was exhausting, especially since the FMC was the blankest slate character that I've read in a while. The FMC takes a year off dating, but then essentially just still dates this guy the whole time anyway and never acknowledges it. But despite that, it was a sports romance about baseball so I'm not completely writing it off.
What to Expect: - Baseball Romance - Friends to Lovers - Coach's Daughter - Forbidden Romance - One Night Stand - Grumpy/Sunshine - He Falls First
WOW! I loved this book so much! I devoured it and could not get enough of Avery and Christian. They stole my heart, and I was completely invested in their relationship.
While out with her friends, Avery meets Christian at a bar, and they have a one-night stand. The next morning, she leaves after finding out Christian is a pitcher for the Boston Revs baseball team, which her father coaches. A few months later, they cross paths again, and Christian discovers Avery is his coach's daughter. Although it is clear they have an amazing connection and great chemistry, Avery is committed to taking a break from dating.
Christian is perfect! Is he grumpy? Yes, but not with Avery. He is so swoony, and I loved how he allowed her to make her own decisions. He was incredibly patient with her. Christian knew what he wanted and played the long game with her. They developed a wonderful friendship, and Christian showed Avery how important she was to him.
Their time together was so wholesome, and I loved their banter. Christian could give a book boyfriend masterclass. The rose gold Sharpies? The movie date nights? The love for the sweet puffin? SWOON! My favorite moment was when he asked Avery to pick him. I mean, c'mon! Where do they make men like him? The Fall Out is the perfect grumpy/sunshine, friends-to-lovers, slow-burn romance.
Narration: Rose Dioro and Connor Crais perform this audiobook using duet-style narration. Their performances are flawless. I truly cannot explain how much I loved this audiobook. I didn't want the story to end. Rose and Connor are an amazing narrating duo, and the perfect voices for Avery and Christian. They fully embodied the characters and brought them to life in the best way. The chemistry, vulnerability, heartfelt moments - I felt it all. This amazing listening experience will stick with me for a while.
Thanks to Jenni Bara and Lyric Audiobooks for the gifted advanced listener copy. Opinions expressed are my own.
The way I would get on my knees for this sweet as sin man. 🧎🏻♀️
This man friend zoned himself for an entire year, never dating anyone, until Avery was ready to date again, and then when he realized that he might lose her by not telling her how he feels.. he. falls. to. his. knees. and begs her to pick him. 😍😍
HOW CAN YOU NOT FALL FOR A MAN LIKE THAT?!
I’m obsessed with the fact that he’s a complete germaphobe, and doesn’t like anyone touching him, except her. 🥹 Her touch doesn’t make him feel icky, and the way he starts to crave even the smallest touches from her.. UGH. I LOVE HIMMMM. 🥰
It’s also all the little things he would do for her. Like her knowing her favorite snacks, or him just talking to puff like he’s his daddy. 😋
Christian is total husband material. ☺️
I loved the organic friendship between Avery and Christian. Their love felt so natural, and easy. The chemistry was also extremely hot between them. They both harbored so many feelings for each other, and not once did they cave in the year that Avery was taking to get to know herself again. The tension was forsure tensioning 🥴
When I tell you that Connor Crais was THE perfect narrator for Christian, I mean it with my WHOLE chest. He gave Christian so much character and life, and made me love Christian so much more. Rose Dioro always does amazing work with her narration, I’m a big fan of hers and always thoroughly enjoy her voice. She was perfect for Avery. 💕
Highly recommend grabbing the audio for this, especially since it’s narrated in duet!! Who doesn’t love duet narration?? 🥰🥰
I’m extremely excited for the rest of this series, and to read all of their stories. I enjoyed meeting them all in this book, and can’t wait to catch them on audio!
Tropes: 💜 friends to lovers ⚾️ sports romance (baseball) 💜 one night stand ⚾️ coach's daughter 💜 grumpy/sunshine ⚾️ he falls first
okay this was actually so cute😭 SHES A BIRD VET AND HE IS A PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYER WHO HITS A BIRD ????? spectacular. I will say I love interconnected series, but I definitely think the author expects you to know some of the characters because there were so many names that were thrown around that were from her other books that you’re kind of supposed to know and understand. So considering this is book one of the series it’s pretty weak writing, but this is another kindle unlimited baddie so I’m not too picky, it was just annoying. But overall, I got through this really quick and it was just so cute.
This was such a fun audio! Rose Dioro and Connor Crais were perfection!!! Also Puff was the star of the show and I will protect Puff at all costs. So good!
What you’ll find: - one night stand - friends to lovers - baseball - coach’s daughter - grumpy sunshine
3.5 stars rounded up Wishing we could all have a guy like Chris. Gotta love a sports guy who’s weak for his girl. Story taking place in Boston was an added bonus. Some spice added in along the way. Wanted to keep reading to see what happened but not like totally In love with the book
This book is irresistibly cute and charming, and I absolutely adore Chris and Avery. Their story begins with a chance meeting at a bar, where they share a one night connection just what Avery wants, since she's sworn off relationships for an entire year. But fate has other plans so when they cross paths again, their chemistry is undeniable. Despite the strong pull between them, Avery is determined to stick to her promise. Chris, ever patient and understanding, waits, showing her just how deeply he cares. Eventually, they also needed to figure out how to break the news of their relationship to Avery’s father, who also happens to be Chris’s coach.
The narrators bring Chris and Avery’s personalities to life beautifully, making their journey feel even more authentic. If you're looking for a heartwarming romance with a swoon worthy MMC and an adorable puffin with a personality all its own, this is a must listen!
Thank you, Jenni Bara and Home Cooked Books for the ALC.
Could not put this book down. Kinda cheesy but SO cute! Reminds me of another sports series I have read and loved. Read it with my bestie and we both loved it and got a kick out of talking about it! The amount of spice was perfect for me. I don’t like too much to where I am in public hiding the book like every chapter. But it was just enough to where I was just waiting for the next spicy scene and it came at perfect times lol! Can’t wait for the second one to come out in a week!
About a month ago, I had the privilege of reading Jenni Bara for the very first time with the 3rd book in this series. I loved it so much that I jumped back to the first 2 books immediately using my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I am obsessed now. I wish I could tell you that I’ve read the 4th book that just released at the beginning of this month but a bloggers schedule can get tight but no fear, that pretty is locked and loaded and ready for the next spare moment! Anywhooooo, back to this experience. So, all of that is to let you know that I already knew the story of Christian & Avery but experiencing a story you love via audio with narrators you love is not a thing that should be missed! So here we are …
First, 👏👏ruckus round of applause👏👏 for both Connor Crais & Rose Dioro on their ridiculously fantastic performance! Not only did they take care of business individually, but their duet skills were “raise the roof” impressive. Duet performances are hard people and I’m picky sooo … do with that information what you will but I am giddy! :)
Now, about this story … listen, I’ve not experienced a whole lot of authors pull off what Jenni did in this story and for that alone she deserves an award. You see, she took a one-night stand and built it to a HEA without skipping any of the stages a relationship goes thru in real life. They met, they got to know each other, they became friends, then they became more. I mean …. What is this sorcery I just read?! LOL The realism in the entire thing was outstanding. These two were kismet and magical and I loved them so much!!
Thank you, Home Cooked Books, for the opportunity to listen to this ALC!
Ash’s Thoughts: Listen guys, this book was so good! I was 100% into it from the very beginning all the way to the epilogue. It started out with the BEST tension. That one night stand was 🔥! Then you get to watch these two build this incredible friendship. It’s so so good! This was my first book by Jenni Bara but I’ve heard such great things about her and now I totally get it! I’m going to read all her work now. Christian is the hot new baseball pitcher AND he’s perfect. He’s one of my new fav book boyfriends! I love him!! He is amazing and he does all these things for Avery without ever telling her. He doesn’t need the recognition, he just wants her to be happy and to get everything she deserves. Ugh, what a man! 🔥 Avery was also amazing. She’s just doing her own thing. She doesn’t think she’s special but that’s what makes her special. She isn’t trying to be anything she isn’t. She’s a little weird and I love her. 😂🫶🏻 I’m soooooo excited for the future books in this series. Emerson is my favorite and I can NOT wait! Buuuut the one I really can’t wait for is Papa Wilson. Whew! I’m dying for that story! Anyways guys, I 100% recommend this book! It’s the sweetest of slow burns. It’s the hottest of tension. It has a full roster of amazing characters! Yup, highly recommend!! 🖤
this book was the best surprise!! i love when stories i see on tik tok turn out to be good and not complete busts! i've been knee deep in finals season and needed a quick reprieve from real life so i read this instead of the physical book i was reading...
chris and avery were so cute i actually can't stand it. for a book that was relatively short it had some of the best slow burn ever. seeing them become such good friends and the slow progression towards real love was perfection!! the scene where he realizes she's ready to date so he leaves his game and runs to her... i'm in loveeeeeeee!!! i mean he waited a YEAR for her, how could you not be obsessed with him!! i wasn't totally in love with the found family in this book because i feel like we needed a bit more development there but i am excited to read gianna's book and i low key hope that avery's friend dates mr. wilson because i'm here for that drama and tension!!!
Update: the audiobook for this book was pretty amazing. Excellent performances.
It was so freaking cute! I love it. It’s a great romance story. Best friends to lovers. Sport romance, I love sport romance stories. I love all the team characters, can’t wait for Emerson… they are all so hilarious and so different at the same time. I love how all of them are there for Chris and how they support each other. Chris and Blondie relationship is amazing, their friendship is the best you can imagine and when they finally get to the “lovers” part everything is even better. Ohh and I love how similar Chris and Coach are, can’t wait for his story too. Obviously Beckett and Cortney were there and yes, I still love them!!! Hahaha they are special. Amazing story with a perfect HEA.
I was grinning ear to ear the entire time and I finished it in 2 days. If you read the Mom Com series, you will love this one. You get some crossover characters, like more Beckett and Cortney. This story can be a stand alone, but it takes place at the same time as the Mom Com books.
Can't wait for the rest of the series.
Friends to Lovers One Night Stand He Falls First (and so HARD!) Pining!!!
