On June 14, 2014, the band Maine Event performed their last show together.
Ten years later, the band is trying to get back together for a reunion tour.
Skylar Ford never planned on touring with Maine Event ever again. The band was in the past and her present was running the local record store with her dad in Moonflower Cove, Maine. She doesn’t want to relive the memories from the last tour and the beautiful woman she walked away from. Instead, she would prefer the past to stay in the past.
However, there’s one person who could get Skylar to do anything.
Elena Cruz needs the reunion tour to happen. After the band broke up, she went from performing sold out arenas to playing in run down bars. She knows she’s made for more, she just needs to make a plan to get Skylar to agree to join the tour.
But what Elena didn’t plan on was falling back in love with Skylar.
As rehearsals fade into the tour, Elena and Skylar find themselves back in all too familiar territory. But things are different this time around; they’re no longer kids in love but adults. Will this time around be different? Or will they face the same ending as the last time?
Ten years ago Skylar left the band Maine Event because she was tired of being put back in the closet for her bandmate and lover Elena. Fast forward to now and a promoter wants to have a reunion tour. Will Skylar agree to it? And if she does, where will that put her and Elena? This is a wonderful and HOT second chance love story! Worthy of more than 5 stars! A favorite!
The concept was great, but the execution was horrible. When i read a summary like that i expected angst and bad blood between Elena and Skylar. Yes, they do feel angry at each other but their actions say otherwise. Their first meeting already involves them kissing which considering the circumstances that they went through a bit unbelievable. The chemistry and tension also weren't there. Be it because of the way they so easily slipped back into a physical relationship so fast or the poor development of their relationship. The side characters also weren't 3 dimensional nor interesting to read about. Where were the old dynamics and personalities? I wanted more information and depth to them so that the dynamics between the characters would be something i was looking forward, if it was done well i would have even cared more about them. Sadly, this book didn't meet my expectations and i have yet to read a good sapphic band romance.
Love me some good AU SwanQueen but there wasn't really any dramatic tension in this one, so it failed to engage me. There doesn't really seem to be any lingering actual hard feelings from a long-ago breakup and the main characters immediately drop back into a physical relationship so the tension is completely gone for me. Going to have to be a DNF for me at 35%
didn’t realize this was a swanqueen fanfiction when i started reading it but the fact that some of the lines from it are taylor swift lyrics took me out so bad 😭
I’m a big fan of this series and have loved all but one book. This one is testing me though. While I want to love it, something is lacking.
The characters are just not fully formed, they read as really flat at some points. Even though I’ve finished reading I feel as I don’t know them. The side characters aren’t really needed as they only popped up every now and then and added nothing to the story.
As for the getting back together, I’m just not sure. These two are supposed to dislike each other and haven’t spoken in 10 years but end up kissing against a car the first day! Maybe a bit of tension between the two would have been better. So many options for this are already in place.
Even though I have issues with this book it’s still a good read, as are all the cove books. Don’t take my rambling as anything but that. Read it for yourself and make your own decision. In fact, read them all and get a real feel for the cove.
What can I say about this book in the series of Moonflower Cove Romances. This on the road story with Skylar and Elena gave us the “Maine Event” finalesque type of vibe but with a new future that keeps the players in the band together. Having Elena deciding her fate and not willing to let this second chance with Skylar pass her by, many things had to change. We thank Addison for keeping our loved Cove residents in our hearts as we take this moment with Elena and Skye. And thanks for the Bonus Chapters which just warmed my heart. Does anybody else really love Skylar’s dad Steven? We all should have a Dad like that! And a place like “Straight To Ale” to hang. As is the norm with these Cove books, it is a place I would love to have in my life. So Thanks Addison Clarke for making this place so real I want to live there!
What happens when you know you’ve found the one but she’s reluctant to come out. Skylar and Elena were together but Elena was reluctant to admit she was a lesbian. They were in a band together but Elena kept dating guys to take the spotlight off them. Eventually Skylar insisted she make a decision. Ten years later the band was getting ready to do a reunion tour assuming Skylar would agree. She and Elena hadn’t spoken in that time Elena was married/now divorced and the chemistry was still there. Their affair started again with Skylar being more patient. Elena realized what she had given up and how she was truly happy when with Skylar.
This was a cute story. Great characters, showed the struggles of telling friends and especially family you’re gay when you know they’re not going to approve. Can’t wait to read book 2.
A very cute, easy read about two people who were destined to be together again. Skylar Ford and Elena Cruz get the second chance through a reunion tour with their band Maine Event. Two bandmates who fell in love, two women who shared a love that was passionate but eventually fell out because they wanted different things. A wonderful second chance romance that was destined to end in a HEA. The way the book is written makes it feel like the readers have already read the first part of their love story which was nice and interesting. Definitely would recommend this if you’re looking for an easy, quick and enjoyable read with no third act break up, but tons of fluff to warm your heart. ❤️
Egads! I have tears in my eyes as I finished this book.
Addison Clarke, thank you for writing this story. Call me a sap, I don’t care. This story has gotten under my skin and I just loved it cover to cover! The characters resonate beautifully making for a perfect sound in my ears. They are deeply drawn, fully composed and just delightfully presented like a symphony to be heard in my mind. Read this book, share it with your friends, let the music take you on this journey.
Anything I want to say could give some things away, and I don't want to ruin it for anyone. So let's just say that this is a musical HEA 10 years in the making. Elena and Skylar are meant to be ❤️
Definitely recommend reading this! Oh, and bonus: we get to catch up with some of the other Cove characters!
There were a few red flags for me in regards Elena and the way it was her way only. But I guess that is what Skylar was into and why the relationship worked for them both until it didn’t. I like the progression and the pace of the book, I had hoped that we would learn more about Skylar and I was not disappointed. I am very happy that everything was worked out in the end, it was a love that never should have ended.

I think the characters, specifically Elena, just didn't work for me. I think there was supposed to be some big character development for her, but I just found her flat the whole way. It was difficult to sympathize with her, mainly because she felt a bit underdeveloped. Skylar also felt a bit one-dimensional, and almost felt like a background character to Elena.
Maine Event had been a huge success as a music band starting out in their hometown in high school. When Skylar couldn’t hide in the closet anymore and left Elena and the group, it was over. When Elena asked Skylar to do a reunion tour it became a chance to get it right this time. Will they find a reunion of love? Love the author.
Another great book with Coves residents. I had so many emotions swirling around during this book but glad things worked out. You’ll love this HEA. Hopefully the next one is in the works with Fallon, hint, hint Addison Enjoy!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the ups and downs you provided for the lovers. The fact to come out as gay was beautifully handled. Both women’s’ descriptions were well defined and made the reader able to see them in their mind. Story was very enjoyable.
This book was an excellent read. It also brought back friends from another series I had read. Addison tied it together well. Definitely worth the read.
Skylar and Elena were deeply-drawn main characters, with good side characters as well, especially Skylar’s Dad. The love story and the arc were very believable.
Wooo! That was a bumpy ride. It was sweet, spicy, and such a headache for me.
I got a lot of words on my mind about this book, but no will to write them. It wasn't bad, but it didn't reach my expectations when I read the description. I thought that we'll get more fighting between the two and a very much needed slow burn. It was everything but a slowburn :(
Happy for them, but not happy about the amount of stress I went through.
