Survivor or Sociopath? A Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping Psychological thriller, packed with unforgettable characters and breath-taking twists.
From the depths of a loveless beginning, a young boy's flight from his oppressive home seems like the dawn of a liberated existence. But the open arms of the world conceal a heart of ice, and his perfect escape morphs into a harrowing trek through a landscape more punishing and deceitful than the one he fled. All Good Things Come to an End delves into the darkest corners of the human spirit as we follow the journey of a child whose innocence is shattered, a soul warped by the searing cruelties of reality.
Propelled by a fierce intellect, he carves a path into the esteemed halls of medicine, standing on the threshold of becoming a surgeon. Here, he dares to let love's warmth penetrate the barriers he's erected, only to find his passions suffocated by the constricting grip of other’s expectations and hidden agendas. Cornered by the constraints around him, he begins a metamorphosis—ingenious, chilling, and remorseless.
Embrace yourself for the unflinching tale of transformation that challenges the boundaries between dedication and obsession, empathy and apathy, sanity and utter madness. Deborah Jean White masterfully weaves a tapestry of psychological suspense, crafting a character whose methodical descent into sociopathy is as compelling as it is terrifying. All Good Things Come to an End a Psychological Thriller is an exploration into the abyss that asks how far one might go to seize control of their destiny in a world that thrives on control.
Can one stray so far from humanity's light that even the brightest day becomes shrouded in the inescapable shadow of oneself?
This book is a fast paced page turner. It draws you in right from the beginning and takes you on a heartbreaking, imaginative and chilling journey. The MC is a cunning sociopath with a flair for arson, and nursery rhymes. The story will take some unexpected turns and hit you with a twist you probably won't see coming.
I highly recommend this book, and although it can be read as a standalone, Book 1 in the series (No Rhyme Nor Reason) is equally as awesome. So don't miss out on that too!
Arc review If you enjoyed "no rhyme nor reason" then youll enjoy "All good things come to an end".
This book is book 2 in the series of Rhyme Island. Its the story of Hunter! What made him become the man behind the lavish lifestyles and life with nursery rhymes? And a Sociopath!
Loved the idea of naming each chapter after a nursery rhyme! It all makes sense to me much more now! This book has short chapters. Written in multiple POV.
The book pulled at my heartstrings on multiple occasions. The authors writing style is so captivating it draws you in from the very first page. Gripping, fast paced and unputdownable. Great character development.
Loved how the story interlocked with the first one perfectly and familiar characters from the first book.
Just everything you would want when reading a dark Physcological Thriller. Would recommend this book to anyone. Loved it! Definitely another 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a captivating read, it had me from page one, I loved the characters, their descriptions, the setting and plot were great. I read this book in one day, I could not put it down. The author has the reader feeling so many emotions at different times for the characters in this novel. Job well done! Hunter is the main character at the beginning of the novel and my heart goes out to him, he has experiences little boys should not have, and then he starts to grow up. Then we meet Tomi-Ann when he reaches college and the story gets sooo good! I loved the twists that started with Tomi-Ann's story, we get her perspective on her relationship with Hunter, we learn things about her past. Parts of the story are a little repetitive at times when the characters are reflecting, but new bits of info are added as well, not sure if so much repeating was needed
This is the first novel I have read by Deborah Jean White, it won't be the last. Absolutely loved it!
A captivating psychological thriller that'll keep you reading into the night. Full of twists and turns. Can a childhood full of hurt, trauma, and abuse turn even the gentlest child into a psychopath? He will do anything to survive and have control. If you've read No Ryhme Nor Reason, then you will already know all about Ryhme Island. This is how and why it all began. If you haven't read it, it doesn't take anything away from this book. You will probably be desperate to read No Ryhme Nor Reason after tho 😉
Such an amazing story! I truly couldn’t put it down. The thrills were none stop and the story just kept getting better and better! The intensity of the plot was high through the entire book. The story was very well written and I loved how the storyline all came together. Great read!!
Deborah White has written a brilliant, suspenseful, and compelling read. I read several of her books, and this one was my favorite. She knows how to deliver an incredible read. This is an absolute must-read book! It is well written, great characters, and unexpected twists. I was on pin and needles until the exhilarating ending.
What a fun read this is! A psychopath and an interesting cast of characters, all mixed up with nursery rhymes - entertaining, for sure! Characters that get you invested quickly and keep you interested from the beginning! I love books that put a twist on already-familiar stories and characters. This definitely does! (And I’m REALLY glad I don’t know any of these people IRL!)
I received this book as an ARC directly from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I really liked this book! The format is unusual - very fast-paced with short paragraphs and chapters and a lyrical quality (enhanced by a soundtrack which I admittedly did not take advantage of but am curious to go back and try). Nursery rhymes factor in as well which is a creepy plot device.
The characters are chilling and you get a glimpse into the mind of at least one sociopath.
My only negative, and it was a slight one was that I found myself wanting more character development for Colin's mother since she is sort of one-dimensionally bad. At the end of the book saw that this was the second in a series so I'm going to go back and get the first book to see if I get more about her there.
My honest review of All Good Things Come To An End by Deborah Jean White.
I was asked to read this quite some time ago but had way too much going on. I’m one of those people who have to be able to focus while reading and I need to read everything to “get it”. And if I don’t “get it”, I’ll reread until I do. And if I reread several times and still don’t get it, I put the book down. I’m a 5 on the Aphantasia Scale. All of this may help you to know how to take my review. This book started out giving me some serious “Evil Lives Here” vibes… but from the perspective of the killer. Not sure if anyone has seen that documentary series but it’s focused on family members or friends telling the back story of someone who is a killer. I was intrigued from the get go. I was eagerly turning pages to learn more about this child and his journey through life. About midway through the book there’s a serious twist and that really kept the pages turning. At this point I was fully invested. My husband even said he was jealous and wished he could find a book that had him so hooked. I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know how things would play out. If you get hung up on type-os, be warned there are some. But that stuff does not bother me at all. My brain will just read it the way it should be. If child abuse or animal abuse is something you can’t read about, be warned there’s some in here. Not too much at all. But it’s there. That stuff doesn’t bother me. I have no triggers. This story had a lot of main character building and I honestly love that. I love knowing back story and origin so I was all about it. I also loved how the main character has a favorite book and nursery rhymes from the book were weaved throughout the story. I felt a lot of different emotions throughout this story. Anger, sorrow, astonishment, disgust… I love when characters can pull on my emotions. That’s what keeps you invested. You start feeling the story. The characters become personable. However, about 2/3 through the story, confusion crept in and I struggled keeping up with what was going on. I had to reread several times. I felt like there were some holes in the story and it just felt very rushed. I felt like we went from “here” to “there” very quickly. I had to back track and see if I missed something. I didn’t. Also, it started flip flopping quite a bit with reminiscing in the middle of a present moment. Got a little bit of whiplash going back and forth. A couple of times, I didn’t know what was happening. I had to reread to grasp that it was a memory. However, that may have just been me. I was eager to get past that part of the story and see what was going to happen with something else. But nothing else actually came of it. There was a shocking moment but it was left hanging. Nothing climactic with it. Just shock then drop. Nothing came of it. That was disappointing. The way it ended seemed undone to me. Nothing really wrapped up. Almost like a song that trails off into the silence. There honestly could be a sequel. If there’s a sequel, I’d read it for sure. Because there’s a lot I still need to know lol No matter what, I don’t regret reading it. I do wish it had a different ending though.
I enjoyed the story and the storyline is an interesting one.
There are a few things to be aware of. First of all, there should be a trigger warning for child abuse. This is not a large portion of the story and does not affect me, but wanted to put it out there for those it may.
My absolute favorite thing about this book, which I've never seen in a book, is that the author actually made a playlist essentially for this book. The beginning of each chapter has a QR code that you can scan which takes you to YouTube and a music video. Being a huge music lover plus reader, this was just the best combination of both and I encourage more authors to put this effort into their books!
The book follows a young boy as he progresses through life with a rough start to his life. There are several "flashbacks" of writing that you've already read, which gives the storyline some redundancy, but it wasn't enough to bother me. The twists, turns and double crossing in the book is enough to keep the reader thoroughly engaged throughout the story.
Thanks to Ms. White for my ARC of this book. I'm going to have to check out a few more of her stories.
I received an advanced copy of this book and part of the marketing team.
Dr. Hunter McQuincey holds many dark secrets from a damaged childhood. His life motto-“When you do good things, not everyone is happy”. He struggles with the question, “Do you do what is good for all, or for you?”
Abandoned and abused as a child, he was unhappy with life from early on struggling to find acceptance. His true friends are a nursery rhyme book and a lighter from his childhood that bring him happiness and security.
As you follow him through his life, many of his life scenes have a sense of poetry. Hunter engages with many people in his life, including Tomi-Ann a survivor of one of his “do-goods”who wants revenge. The ending twist is unexpected and intense.
This book was an exploration into damaged minds that is easy to get hooked on from page one. It was a quick read It definitely kept me reading and entertained. I am anxious to read more from this author as a reader that loves psychological thrillers.
Now I don’t normally write reviews but after I read this book I thought I had to say that this is the best book I have ever read not even exaggerating I could not put this book down all week my son was wondering what I was doing now he is captivated In the world of hunter lol if you are looking for a book that will keep you on your toes this is the book.
This was a wonderful book that delves into the human psyche and makes you wonder what makes a sociopath, and is there any good still in them at all. Hunter is traumatized and abused, yet he WANTS to do good, but he has a dark side that pushes him to do bad things. He is so well written that you feel sorry for him and terrified of him at the same time. This a book you CAN'T put down!

Wow- what an excellent thriller!!! It sucks you in from the first page and it's hard to put down. Deboarh White has an excellent imagination and attention to detail, making her characters relatable and endearing. You feel like you're right there in the story with them. This was the first book I've read of this author. The chapters are short and named. It was a Very easy read, and went straight into the story with no faffing about. The book does have a back and current time line which personally I like. a great read all round I wasn't disappointed.

I could not put this book down! I read it in one day and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the twist that I didn’t see coming!
