They say love is all you need.
They’re wrong.

Sometimes, no matter how much you want to stop it from happening, you have to watch the person you love most in the world slip through your fingers. Even when it feels entirely wrong, you can still find yourself sitting in a lawyer’s office with your spouse, negotiating the terms of your divorce.

It doesn’t matter that she’s the only woman I’ve ever loved. Or that we both meant it when we promised each other forever. It matters even less that she can still make my knees weak with nothing more than a smile. None of that is enough to fix the things we’ve spent a lifetime together breaking.

We were meant to be together but destined to be apart. So we’re doing just that—separating our joined lives into two distinct, single ones. An amicable uncoupling. Or so it appears on the surface.

Only it’s not so easy to extricate yourself from someone who’s been a part of your life for two decades. It’s even harder to deny the physical attraction that’s still there, simmering underneath the surface. If only we didn’t have so much baggage, maybe we could enjoy some no-strings fun to take the edge off the whole divorce situation.

That thought is exactly how I wind up doing the unthinkable: having an affair.
With my wife.
Knee-deep in lawyer negotiations, we’re sneaking around behind everyone’s backs. Secret hotel meetups, burner phones, lying to my family, the works. And despite the physical attraction—and the way she still moans my name—the divorce is going ahead. We’ve made too many mistakes to fix them now.

Or have we? Because what’s happening between us seems like it surpasses the boundaries of a physical affair. What if this is our chance to fix everything we got so very wrong the first time around?

With my family on one side and my wife on the other, I’m torn between what I should do and what I want to do. Torn between my head and my heart.

No matter what I decide, one thing is for certain: There is no such thing as no-strings-attached when the object of your infatuation is also the love of your life.

Rebound is a standalone second chance billionaire romance. With a whole lot of angst and a HEA guaranteed.

At first, I thought I was going to love Elijah and hate Amber. Oh, how wrong I was.

Elijah turned out to be a terrible man—and an even worse husband. The audacity of him constantly complaining about Amber when he was the actual problem and never really listen to her? Infuriating.

In previous books, Amber is painted as cold, maybe even bitchy, so I had my doubts. But reading this book? She’s a literal GEM. A woman who deserved so much more than the emotional starvation he gave her.

We finally see her side, her pain, her heart—and it becomes painfully clear that Elijah never truly loved her. He lusted after her, sure. But love? That was never there. Even in her most vulnerable moments, this man was distracted by her body. There was a point when she was hurting and all he could focus were her nipples, seriously? Get a grip.

He never trusted her. He constantly took other people’s words over hers. He failed her again and again AND AGAIN—and never once truly made up for it. No groveling. No accountability. Just crumbs. That’s what she settled for.

And don’t even get me started on his family. His brothers? Horrendous. Loud, rude, and so incredibly disrespectful toward Amber—and Elijah never stepped in, until the very end but felt so forced and not even genuine they didn’t even apologize.

He only noticed things once it was too late. And even then, he did the bare minimum, if that.

Amber deserved so much better. Better than Elijah. Better than that entire mess of a family.

1. he didn't trust her for more than half the book, questioned her at each thing etc.

2. they just kept on fucking. there was little development and background.

3.no groveling. the other family members did not apologize well.

4.the ending and fixing of thing was rushed and inadequately done.

5.should have had real conversations about the barren issue, people can relate, instead of just pages on pages of sex.

I’ve finished this book with the sensation that they were better divorced, especially her. She was doing soooo much better without him and HIS BROTHERS! I don’t get it… the way she is treated for years… how can you love a man that let his family talk like that to you for so many years? 😡, this is not realist because she’s not a shy teenager, she’s a smart and independent woman, sad. He is a coward and honestly I would resent all of them for life
I really don’t have any good thing to say about the hero,
I guess the book is safe

I do not understand all the 5 star ratings this book has.

Elijah chose his family over and over and OVER again till the very end. In my eyes, he didn’t redeem himself at all for all the neglect towards his wife that went on for decades.

I don’t like that he didn’t set his family straight, but let them go on having a bad opinion of her. I also don’t understand why the brother that knew what happened to cause the divide between them, would stay silent for over a decade.
I do not understand the hatred that Nathan and Madox have towards the FMC. They act as if she killed someone they love, and no explanation is given why they hate her so much.

I also find it implausible that a person would just stay quiet, suffer in silence, and let anger fester for over a decade, instead of simply talking to her husband (whom she is madly in love with) and letting him know how she feels.

Spoiler Ahead: When she gets assaulted and her husband stands her up because he chose to believe his **hole brother, I genuinely didn’t want her to give him another chance. And then he begs for another chance and promises to be there for her, and ONCE AGAIN DOESN’T BELIEVE her when she finally tells him how his mother hurt her… Why would you want a man that never puts you first and doesn’t trust you. Just ugh

It took me a whole week to get to write this review.

I have never been more conflicted about how to rate a book than I am now. Hopefully by the end of the review it would become clear how many stars I should be rating it.

I have a love-hate relationship with this book.
Eventhough the writing was very good but at the beginning it was so exhausting to be in their heads. The first 3rd of the book was a continous repetitive monologue of what he was thinking and what she was feeling; what he was feeling and what she was thinking over and over.

To be honest, it is a 500 page book that could have been reduced to a mere 300.

Also, the conflict? the fact that she cannot have a child was dragged for so long. I mean, she was around 26 years of age when she realised she couldn't have kids. It took her 14 years to be fed up, to realise that her marriage was broken and to make a decision to get a divorce. My question is, why wait for so long? She could have come to this conclusion in 5, 7 or even 10 years but 14?!! Why drag it for so long.

And then comes Nathan aka Asshole with a capital A. You see Nathan is the MMC's brother. Actually no wait, I'll explain about the MFC first.

She comes from a very wealthy family, she has all the connections, upbringing, status and an exemplary demeanour to be the MMCs wife. She was absolute perfection.

She met the MMC when she was 19 years and him 21, they fell madly in love with each other and got married 2 years after. She is the perfect wife for a magnanimous Billionaire. A few years forward, she finds out that she cannot bare any children.
The MMCs family, the father, the mother, the brothers (3 of them except one) turn on the MFC. Hating on her with so much rage. Demeaning her. Insulting her. Accusing her of having tricked the MMC. Blaming her for being barren and of no use to the MMC. And the list of aggression and harrassement goes on and on and on.

God, my rage is still boiling while writing this review. The things they said about her. The way they treated her. And the spinless MMC who let it happen who never once defended her except at the very last end. Who let them rave and insult and disrespect her for so long all for what?! Because she couldn't have his babies?!! How is that her freaking fault???

And then when she finally grows a backbone and wants out she then kinda ends up having an affair with the husband (MMC) she intends to divorce.

Actually, it's complicated, don't ask me just know that while the whole family think that the MMC has moved on after 3 weeks of filing for divorce with another woman (he was having an affair with his wife) what were their reactions?

"You are better off without her. We are better off without her. We are glad you found someone else to make you happy. When are you going to bring her so we can meet her.(Nathan)
Is she nice? Tell us about her! (Nathan's wife, the hypocrite).
Bring her for brunch I want to finally meet her (the father in law)"

Gooodddddd!!!! Such a bunch of hypocritical assholessssss..... and these are supposed to be the MCs of previous and next books in this series.

And worst of it was... her parents were absolute garbage. When she married the MMC, she finally found a mother in her mother in law. She loved her dearly. But on her deathbed, said mother in law told the MFC that she was a useless barren woman who tricked her poor child. That they all hate her and the whole family feels the same! What. The. Actual F*CK!!!!!!!

And after the MCs make up you want me to believe that the MFC would finally have a normal relationship with these douchbags!!! How?!!!
Never in my life have I prayed that the MFC would not end up with this spinless pathetic MMC and that she would get rid of him and his whole rotten garbage of a family.

💡 Yep it is clear now. This book deserves 0.5 stars 🌟 NO MORE!

5 what the hell just happened ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was probably my best read this year. 😱

I am not usually a Sadie stan, but I could become one now. She has never written anything like this before, that I have read. Now I am slightly mad, that she didn’t dig this deep in her previous books! Because obviously she can, and she did it so well in this.

No it’s not perfect, but boy I was feeling everything straight from the beginning, and the roller coaster ride I was taken on was real. I was breathless at times. Maybe it’s my fever talking, I have the flu. But I honestly don’t want to diminish this emotion I am left with, for an excuse. I loved this.

Something happened to Sadie Kincaid and I hope she has people around her, she went in deep and invited us in. 🫶

This book will resonate with anyone who has been in a 10+ year relationship, or been through a long term relationship divorce or breakup. It will definitely hit you in a beautiful way. It’s the most adult book by her I have read, and I am here for it.
Honestly it’s probably not going to resonate as much if you are on the cusp of Y/A going into N/A territory, and you are looking spice and mafia type books.

Amber and Elijah has been married for 20 years, her whole life has been shaped into fitting into his. He has emotionally put her last, for at least a decade and she has put shields up to protect herself from the isolation. His family is low key abusive to her, and he never stands up for her. She has even been criticized for not being able to have children. 😢 which is the root cause for her insecurities.
Finally she makes an emotionally mature decision and leaves him and the relationship, in order to find herself. Despite of her still loving him, she chooses herself over him, for the first time in her life. He is utterly surprised by this, and they go on a journey together, and individually, finding out what really matters in their life.
They engage in an affair during the divorce proceedings and it’s so beautiful and heartwarming/breaking and the journey goes from there. If I made this sound boring, let me clarify, this is not boring at all. Lots of drama! It’s dual POV, and he loves her, but he doesn’t understand how his behavior contributed to the divorce. But he will, and there is GROVEL!

Amber lost herself on the way, she doesn’t know what she likes to do anymore, or what interests her, so she starts to make lists, on top of that list : Stop feeling sorry for yourself! ❤️ from then on I knew I would love her.
Second on her list : Make genuine friendships ❤️
next on her list : Ask for help more often ❤️❤️

“I need to find out who I am without you “ I was literally in tears for them.

I appreciate that there was no easy fix to their problems, and that conflict was long, because it was about growth, and willingness to change, and not to cast blame around with the wind. There was no magic wand to whisk everything away by chapter 20 and then add filler.

Was there a lot of spice? Yes in true Sadie style, it was toned down a notch, and I really appreciated that, because the relationship was really at the forefront, and I ate it up.

If there was one negative thing I can pin point, and would really need to think about finding that, it would be the bonus epilogue. Basically just steam, and I worry she felt it was lacking ( it was not) in the story, and had to add extra. It wasn’t necessary because this was a solid book and it was really heartfelt.

Color me surprised that Sadie Kincaid squeezed a tear out of my dark soul. Thank you for the reminder, of the value of real relationships and friendships.❤️

Should you read it? Yes, it was wonderful ❤️

I’m not 100% sure how I feel about this book. On the one hand, I did enjoy it for the majority. But I felt the end just lacked.

I liked Amber. Her struggles, her pain and her ultimate desire to figure out who she really was without being apart of Elijah and the James family. I liked Elijah for the most part but I felt it odd that despite making the decision that he wanted to save his marriage, he didn’t pause the divorce. And then despite knowing how badly he had neglected and let dorm his wife, and how his family added to that, he chose not to set his brothers straight. He let them carry on thinking and acting like Amber was the bad guy instead of sitting them down and explaining what he had realised. He was passive in his own marriage. And the constant letting her down even after this epiphany and promising to not do it again got tiring quickly. And I really disliked Nathan and Mason by the end of the book. There was no room for growth in their acceptance in Elijah and ambers marriage.

I wish there had been more work done regarding the James brothers.

Holy 💩 when I tell you I cried for 60% of this book for this broken hearted couple . Never have I cheered for a fictional couple as much as these 2 !!

Elijah James is the CEO of Jamestech , oldest of 5 brothers … seemingly the glue that keeps his family together !!! Amber , his wife of 20 years has been by his side as his partner thru ups and downs . College , him becoming CEO , the loss of his mother :( but one conversation 10 years prior starts the snowball of their destruction … she refuses to tell him , puts on a steel persona meant to distract from the real feelings … feelings of inadequacy and emptiness ….

“ I WANT A DIVORCE “

Those painful words begin her journey of self discovery, self acceptance and finding her true purpose in life besides being Mrs Amber James :) on his end this time shows him the truth behind some of her actions , words and demeanor …

What I will say is it was a beautifully crafted and thoughtful story about fighting for what you truly love ,redemption for past mistakes , never giving up and realizing there is always a reason why …

Amber and Elijah forever!! I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. Amber and Elijah have been my most anticipated couple since Broken. I just cannot resist a marriage in trouble / second chance romance.

I was crying from the very beginning. I was so immersed and sympathetic to what they were going through and was rooting for them the whole time. This series is easily making its way to one of my top series of all time. Sadie, I love and truly adore everything you write!!! I will be thinking about this book and letting it live rent free in my brain for a very long time. The groveling, the heartbreak, the plot twists.. just LOVE.

There are no amount of words for how thankful I am to be on this ARC team. I cannot wait for the world to meet the amazing characters that are Elijah and Amber. Counting down the days until Maddox and Mason!

20 years married, 10+ of them with no proper communication between the MMC and FMC on what the issue was in their marriage. Amber was a better woman than me because if my husbands family talked to me the way Elijah's brothers did, I would have drop kicked them into the next millennium.

I was in the trenches, y'all.

Kincaid continues to let me down

I’ve enjoyed reading most of Kincaid’s book, especially the Chicago and New York series. But gosh, her last few books have been awful. It’s like she picks a trope, sees whatever is trending on BookTok or Instagram, rights some smutty scenes, then AIs the rest of the plot for her. No character development, things not matching previous books with characters mentioned. Completely unbelievable plot. Spice isn’t even that good because there is no build up or tension. She’s putting out so many books, maybe needs to slow down and focus. Taking a long, hard break from her books.

This has been most most anticipated read of 2025 along side on Bound in Blood, also by the amazing Sadie Kincaid.
Rebound beautifully wrecked my heart ❤
This book in the 3rd book of the Manhattan Series (highly recommend reading the others)
The story follows Elijah and his wife Amber, on a heartbreaking story of their marriage falling to pieces. When they are agreed to divorce, little did they know that they would both end up having an affair! With each other! (no cheating)
Honestly I think about 70% of this book I was an emotional wreck (along with happy tears) Many points relatable to my own life experiences.
The spice and the filthy mouth on Elijah will have you swooning 🥵
This is one of them books that I wish I could for the 1st time again and I'd re-welcome the tears.

FMC - Amber: 3 🌟
MMC - Elijah: 3 🌟
SPICE - 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶

LIKES: Amber and Elijah have this incredible sexual chemistry, so much so that almost two decades of marriage and a divorce process still aren't enough to tamp it down. The spice in this book was great, and it was a constant rollercoaster of emotion as these characters attempted to figure out what they want from their life and marriage, and whether it's worth it to give their relationship another chance

DISLIKES: I couldn't really form any attachment to Amber throughout the book. I thought she was rather cold at first, but you learn that isn't the type of woman she really is. Even with that realization, though, I didn't like her character all that much.
Elijah I did really like at first, but he kept making the same mistakes, even after Amber opened up to him about the ways that he's hurt her in their marriage. So he would screw up, make it up to her (typically with sex involved), and then rinse and repeat. By the end of it all, I still felt like sex was the only solid thing they had going for their relationship

safety first :
-100% safe and Elijah's only redeeming quality
- no cheating
- owd : she sees him with a young girl but it turns out she's his sister in law's baby sister and he's mentoring her at work. she flirts with him but never causes more issues.
omd : a lawyer SAed her when she refused his proposal to represent her

this book very nicely tackled a marriage in crisis, a real couple who's been together for 21 years , i felt like their issue was real and concrete and none of the superficial BS usually presented in marriage in crisis tropes that can be resolved easily, this couple's issues has existed for years, of secrets, hurt and distance. which is the main reason i gave it 3 stars.

what i didn't like though was how it was resolved and how easily they got back together, i felt like the author presented a real couple issue then shitted on it by resolving it with sex and an affaire.
the affaire wasn't so bad, them pretending to not know each other and have an affaire did help them speak more freely to each other and share things they wouldn't have shared in their " real " characters. so i definitely think it helped them communicate , but it only helped reveal the issue not resolve it

my god Elijah DRAINED ME, he was so adamant to villainize Amber and make her out to be the bad guy when it was him and his family all along ( minus sweet baby Derek and Maddox) , Mason and Nate can get fucked with a hot rod.

my main question is WHY did Amber take Elijah back ? here are all the things i compiled as to why she shouldn't have taken him back:
- she got her life together after the separation, she felt herself, she felt happy , she felt free from all the socialist bullshit faking that she had to do while married to him, wore less make up and dressed like herself, she smiled and enjoyed life.
- she volunteered more at the center and the soup kitchen which brought her so much happiness and which her husband knew nothing about for 10 years.
- she was free of his brothers bulling her
- she didn't feel like a burden and blamed for everything like he blamed her for the past few years.
- the next day after she asked for a divorce he was imagining finding someone new and starting over, while she said moving on isn't even on her mind.
and the only reason i can think of as to why she should take him back was because she still loved him which made her miserable.

the first chapters of the book he was an absolute asshole to her, throwing jabs at her, trying to hurt her as much as he can and why? because she was cold and distant. he blamed her for everything and called her a bitch when HE was the biggest bitch of all.
not to mention how he allowed his brothers to berate, belittle and insult her more times than i can count and only defended her once at the very end, she was called a bitch, a witch and a whole lot of other insults and he did and said NOTHING to defend her.

now let me present you a list of reason why she SHOULD NOT have taken him back:
- he chose his family over her for 10 years and believed everything they said over her
- never defended her when his brothers called her awful things
- let her go to the doctor for a health scare ALONE.
- spent the holidays without her for 10 YEARS and never knew she spent her time at the soup kitchen while he was with his family listening to them talking crap about her.
- after they were trying to talk things out and she expressed how he always chose his brothers and he promised he wouldn't do it again, he STILL did it again, she was physically and sexually assaulted and asked him for help yet he believed his brothers words over her AGAIN.

this man never once showed through actions that he picked her nor that he will change, i still don't understand how she chose to take him back after a couple pretty words after her assault. he was all talk and whenever it came to action he did the opposite repeatedly and she just took him back? he will 100% fuck up again and she will end up divorcing his ass

edit: i also loved how she didn't resolve their issues with kids like most book with infertility where the fmc magically gets pregnant, Amber cannot have kids and her infertility is valide and not just used for plot then boom resolved with kids, if anything it made her so dedicated to helping the kids at the center

Okay, Mrs. Kincaid, are you cooking up an MC spin off series? Because I am here for it.

I know if Amber and Elijah talked instead of having sex, they'd resolve everything quickly, but this is fiction, and I want drama, yearning, and not so perfect characters, and it delivered. Nathan, I think I hate you in this one. Drake, I love you. Elijah, you're alright, but you could do better.

Also, I wish we could have a glimpse of their father's love life with an age appropriate woman, but maybe that's just me.

Old review before i read the book (February 21, 2025)

I love this series so far, but I wish it included more groveling. There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching a character earn forgiveness. Give me regret, heartfelt speeches, and a man on his knees emotionally, of course, but physically works too! 😂

I can't wait for this one. And I'd like to see more of their dad's love life. Old love is wholesome. There’s something extra swoon worthy about seasoned characters finding love again. They’ve been through life, they’ve had their heartbreaks, and when they finally get that second (or third) chance? Ugh, my heart.

Phew! What can I say about this book? I was extremely lucky and was chosen as an ARC reader by one of my most favorite authors! That in itself is amazing and such an incredible honor! Thank you Sadie and her team for the opportunity!! As for the book, Sadie has once again given us another banger! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Then again, I never can when it comes to Sadie's books. Just when I think she can't possibly top the last story, she gives us Elijah and Amber. Their story is so heartbreaking, but the way they found their way back to one another was so beautiful! I cried several times during this book! I felt for Amber and the things she went through. She is a strong woman! And Elijah? Don't even get me started on his filthy mouth! I love Sadie's men and their dirty ways! This book was pure perfection!

I had a feeling that Anber and Elijah would captivate my heart. I loved their story.

Book 3 of the Manhatten Series covers Amber and Elijah.
Elijah, being the eldest James brother, his primary focus has always been the company and the family. But after many years, it's very apparent that his marriage is not as loving as everyone perseives.

Amber has always been cold towards the James clan. She's earned the "Ice Queen" title. But like everything in life, there's a reason as to why she is the way she is.

Sadie had my heart in a vice for this entire book. Her ability to depict such realistic relationship challenges, especially within a marriage, is beautifully written, with such care and heart.

Amber and Elijah's story really brings to light that we shouldn't take things for granted and even more so communication is absolutely paramount within a marriage. It's easy to become complacent when you've been in a relationship for a long time, which is exactly what happened with Amber and Elijah, they became so guarded and defensive that Amber felt the only resolution was a divorce. Even though they still loved each other, they were not "in love" with one another.

Rebound is a story about a broken marriage that appears loveless.
I truly did love this book, I loved the realistic feelings and challenges that they faced and how they find their way back to one another.

Second chance, troubled marriage, secret affair (no 3rd parties), sexual reawakening, relationship challenges, family drama.

Please familiarise yourself with the content before you start

Rebound is book three in the Manhattan Ruthless series. It can be read as a standalone but the characters crossover so I recommend reading them in order for maximum enjoyment.

Elijah and Amber have been together for over twenty years. Unfortunately, many of those years have been a misery for both. They are trapped in a cycle of lashing out, apathy, familial interference and uncertainty.

When everything comes to a head, they decide to divorce - The only problem is they are still in love and extremely attracted to each other. Can the marriage survive past hurts or will it falter? How far will they go to get what they both want and need?

Rebound is a story of a marriage in trouble, whether to fight for each other or let go of the past, and relearning to appreciate you have. Rebound brings all the feels and delivers big time.

This book has w very different vibes than the others

Amber : she is sweet , broken and a very good woman
She kept alot inside of her my heart shattered for her for most of the book 😔

Elijah : yes he is a good perfect man , but he couldn’t just Blance between his lives
I wanted to kill him for his hurtful words most of the book and how hesitated he was , he was the evil in my story not only in Amber’s

And again Nathan. I love you like hell but you need to keep your fuckin nose out of your brother’s life
Cause you were a bitch.

Over all this book shattered my heart to pieces and brought it back together on repeat for 5 times maybe 10 times.🥹♥️♥️♥️

My first 5 starts in 2025♥️

Elijah freaking James!!!! I almost think he’s my favorite!

This book damn near broke me and had me in tears for the first 25% of the book. The emotion that you get from Amber and Elijah is so real.

From a broken marriage to finding that love never died!

The mouth on this man is holy h3ll hot!!!

Finding out more about Amber and what made her turn to ice, ever women has a reaching point and the strength she showed is astounding.

“You, baby, are enough for me. You always were, and you always will be. I love you so much, exactly as you are. Exactly as we are.”

Some words just need to be said more

And some time in words of Elijah James “Just sex. Fast, hard, filthy.”
