Jamey Moody’s novels have gained a following among sapphic readers, and much of that is due to the fact that she produces stories that have low angst. The absence of heavy, emotional drama allows readers to focus on the romantic intimacy between the characters, making for a tale that is light and fun to read. Readers appreciate that. They also appreciate that she indulges in healthy courtships. Her characters communicate openly and respect boundaries, fostering a positive place for romances to develop. Readers can immerse themselves in stories of hope, joy, and love without the added stress of weighty conflict. See You Next Month, with its themes of friendship, family and love, doles out generous helpings of all of that.

Moody centers this new romance on two very likable, appealing characters, Isabella and Kelsey. They are both well-defined and distinct, exhibiting unique personalities and traits in their own right. However, just because their backstories aren’t loaded with tons of angsty baggage doesn’t mean they are flat. They have layers, contradictions and depth. They change and grow over the course of the story in ways that not only impact the storytelling but the reader as well. Ultimately, readers are able to connect to them, facilitating an empathy that makes the storytelling satisfying.

Besides providing See You Next Month with characters that feel like neighbors, women one would like to hang out with, Moody gives the story a real sense of escapism. Considering the setting primarily focuses on a Virgin Island resort, this romance truly sets the stage for vacation/poolside reading! She gives readers all the sights and sounds of island life. Her gorgeous descriptions and vivid imagery transport readers to the exotic, picturesque landscape of the resort, making it absorbing and relaxing. This light and breezy setting provides a feeling of freedom and adventure, making it tons of fun to read.

Primarily though, this is a feel-good, heartwarming romance. It’s uplifting and easy to digest. Filled with swoon-worthy love (something that Moody is known for) in a world where love conquers all, readers are regaled with a romance that’s comfortably predictable yet soothingly idyllic. Like a pair of comfortable shoes, the storytelling is good for the soul 😉 and feels grand. The simplicity of this reliable, low-stress love story is indulgent and satisfying. It’s a respite from real life, and that’s refreshing.

Final remarks…

See You Next Month is a lovely romance, and yet another example of why Jamey Moody is a quick pick for so many sapphic readers. It is well paced and charming. Isabella and Kelsey have a strong chemistry but it’s not rushed; They do not hastily dash toward the bedroom. They take their time, get to know each other, and this is appealing. Through intimate conversations and tender moments, readers watch them fall in love. This generates something that feels real and genuine, making See You Next Month the perfect comfort read for those that desire romances with strong connections and low angst.

Strengths…

Emotionally satisfying
Character driven narrative
Entertaining storyline
Likable, engaging characters
Strong character chemistry

Kelsey is a freelance web developer, and Isabella is a freelance branding expert. They are each contracted separately to The Coral Bay Resort in the Virgin Islands. They meet just before Christmas when in the arrivals of the airport, Kelsey helping Bella with her expansive luggage, too much for just a few days. After they find out that they will be working together on increasing the public profile of Coral Bay, with the CEO Carmen, they decide to return every month, concentrating on a different holiday package each time.
Kelsey is a single mom, with both her girls at college. She had her daughters by IVF, never having had a long term partner, instead getting help from her mom and brother to raise the kids. Isabella is divorced, with two younger sons, sharing custody with her ex husband. She has never been with a woman, the possibility never even having crossed her mind. However she finds someone special in Kelsey, beginning an instant deep friendship, each being attuned to the other almost from their first meeting. Their attraction is a slow burn, but not too slow; the ongoing story keeps things engaging and interesting. Others at the resort can see their attraction way before they can. After returning home, even their kids remark on how happy they seem when talking about the other.
I especially like that there is no subterfuge here; both Kelsey and Bella talk openly with each other, and with their families about their friendship. In each case, it’s not until others talk to them about the obvious growing attraction that they do something about it.
While in the Islands, the women are constantly vlogging to their increasing amount of followers, doing special videos for each activity or place, and a few times they are recognised while there.
They begin their online journey as two single moms making videos to help Coral Bay and other businesses in the area. As they realise their attraction and love they eventually become a couple in their online life, but not until after a few negative comments online and a few misgivings from Carmen.
The women make some wonderful friends in the Islands, especially Riley and Alex at Peaches, a popular bar on the neighbouring island - both them and the bar from one of Jamey’s previous books.
In almost all of Jamey Moody’s books, the characters talk of their hearts connecting, talking to each other. This is also very much a part of this story, such a beautiful way of explaining deep, almost magical love. What I love is that we get to see their happy-ever-after, and also we get to see how they fare several years into the future.
This is a nearly zero angst beautiful story, told in a warm captivating way, with some of the greatest characters. Not only Kelsey and Isabella, but also their growing group of friends on the islands, and especially all four kids who play a big part in the story. The writing is excellent, as is usual with Jamey Moody’s books. I really don’t know how she manages to write so many excellent, warm books in such a short space of time. Jamey is one of those authors that once you have read one story, you know all the others will be just as warm and beautiful. Jamey, you have set yourself a high bar to continue to live up to!

Unexpected forever love surrounded by tropical beaches, dancing in the sand and island adventures? Sign me up!

I received an advance copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Christmas is not going according to Kelsey’s plan. As a single, lesbian mom, she wanted to spend the holidays with her grownup daughters on a tropical beach, but instead they wanted to do their own thing. So here she is, waiting for her luggage at the bagageclaim on the Virgin Islands, alone. Due to the lack of company, Kelsey decided to mix business with pleasure. She’ll enjoy a little beach relaxation and meet her webdesign client: The Coral Bay Resort. While her luggage comes rolling by on the carroussel, Kelsey notices a woman struggling to get her huge suitcases off. Of course she gallantly steps in. Little did she know the woman, gorgeous Isabella, is working with her on the brand campaign for the resort. This trip might not be so lonely after all.

Isabella is not looking forward to Christmas. It will be the first time she celebrates without her young sons. After the divorce her ex-husband decided to take them to New York this year. Isabella decides to take her branddesign client up on her offer to spend the holidays at their resort in the Virgin Islands. Working will surely take her mind off missing her boys. When she steps into the office to meet the marketing team, Isabella is surprised to see Kelsey again. After the luggage debacle they had dinner together, both of them are traveling alone, so why not? Together they come up with the ultimate campaign to highlight all that the resort and the islands have to offer. Isabelle and Kelsey only have to return every month for a year and take their online audience along on their journey. That doesn’t seem like a hardship at all. Kelsey seems great and she made Isabella feel like they’ve known each other for years. But is that all there is to it?

Jamey Moody is the queen of low angst, super sweet romance. See You Next Month falls firmly into that category. It is exactly as you’d expect. A budding friends-to-lovers, workplace, toaster oven story that oozes romance and love.

The connection between Kelsey and Isabella is instantaneous. They click right from the start, first as friends but neither of them has ever experienced a friendship like this. Their souls seem to know each other and their hearts are soon to follow. From the moment Kelsey and Isabella met you can feel their bond growing, that it’s evolving into love is inescapable. And of course that is exactly what happens, you’re purely just along for the delicious ride.

The connection both Kelsey and Isabella have with their kids is heartwarming. The four kids form an instant friendship with each other too, despite their age differences. I loved getting a little peak into their future lives and dare I say I feel a new story coming up about Dana and Mia?

The backdrop of the Virgin Islands is gorgeous, it’s impossible not to fall in love with that place. From secluded beaches to awesome beach bars and fruity drinks, I mean, whisk me away! Moody does an excellent job of transporting your life to island time, as they call it. Although the women’s schedule is packed to the brim, they always find time to just be together and let their feelings grow.

You might remember the setting of the book from Moody’s earlier novel Live This Love. It’s awesome to check back in with Riley and Alex and sit at the bar at Peaches enjoying what they have built together. I loved seeing them become instant friends with Kelsey and Isabella.

If you need a little pick me up and restore your faith in love, you can’t go wrong with this one!

The book is of exceptional quality, as is typical of Jamey's work. It was a serendipitous encounter when they met at the airport's baggage claim, only to discover that they were neighbors at the same resort. It seemed as if the stars had aligned, leading them to collaborate on a project for the CEO Carmen.

The connection between Kelsey and Bella is undeniable. It is sweet, and I loved that they are both single mothers of two children (two boys for Bella and two girls for Kelsey). The love they both share for not only love for each other but also each other's children. It's beautiful.

The storyline is written beautifully. I appreciate that Jamey always introduces characters from her previous books into her current works. It creates a sense of a cohesive literary family and brings me joy to witness their fictional lives unfold.

I couldn't put this book down. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it, as well as all of Jamey's other books. This one is fantastic.

DNF I thought this would be a cute book and in some sense it was. But I truly was cringing most of the way through. I had to skip a lot and skim. The dialogue was brutal. It was like reading a teenage fanfiction. The premise of the story is a good idea- two single moms end up becoming friends when they are working together at a resort. But ugh- I could not stand the dialogue. It ruined the story for me. I’m sure some readers will like this but it wasn’t for me.

Very trite and cliche, but a nice little romance with mild spice and the expected HEA. The writing is very monotone, and it surprised me how many pages could be filled with dialog that basically went no where. I think people could enjoy this author's books - she has written many. It could be fun to try to read them all. One is enough for me.

EASY LIVING, EASY LOVING : Single moms and self-employed marketing experts Isabella Burns from North Carolina, and Kelsey Kenny from Denver are without their kids for Christmas. To offset their sadness, each decides to visit The Crystal Bay Resort in the Virgin Islands, a mutual client they’re unaware they share.

Isabella is a straight, divorced mother to two young boys; she works from home specializing in branding. Kelsey is a web site designer with two daughters in college. A lesbian, she’s been a solo parent from the start, attaining motherhood by IVF.

The two women are on the same flight to the island, their meet cute occurs when Kelsey helps Isabella wrestle her voluminous luggage off the baggage carousel. When they target the same shuttle, they realize they’re both staying at Crystal Bay, so decide to meet for dinner. But it’s not ‘til the next morning’s meeting in the resort owner’s office when they find out they’re tag-teaming on Crystal Bay’s extensive marketing makeover.

The trio conceive of Isabella’s and Kelsey’s making monthly visits to the resort, each organized around a seasonal or topical theme, and then populating the resort’s web site and social media platforms with videos, photos, stories, and activity ideas to drive more traffic to Crystal Bay.

It doesn’t take long for “Bella” and “Kels” — along with Moody’s readers — to be mesmerized by the island paradise, with its community of welcoming women, relaxed vibe, warm breezes, and continuously lapping waves.

Moody gives her audience hours of calming scenic images; a close-up of the developing attraction between the two bright, vibrant women; engaging, entertaining interactions with the many lesbians living and working on the islands; and the warmhearted impending blending of the two families — Bella and her sons Wyatt, 13, and Gus, 10; and Kelsey and her daughters Dana, 24, and Emma, 22.

Treat yourself to a tropical vacation with Jamey Moody’s See You Next Month.

Jamey’s distinctive writing style takes us on a journey through the ups and downs of this warm hearted romance in a way that takes us to another world - the absorbing escapism of travel to the Caribbean.

Another great Jamey Moody book. Kelsey, a single mother of two adult daughters and Isabella, a recently divorced single mother of two young boys, meet and immediately become friends as they embark on a year of monthly adventures for a Virgin Island resort client. As the months go by, they slowly develop feelings for one another. All the characters are well developed and the interactions between their families and new friendships is believable. If you like age gap, friends to lover stories with very little angst and a happily ever after, I recommend this one.

Jamey Moody doesn't let her readers down; and "See You Next Month", her latest book, is no exception. Two single mums who live in different states of the US are the main characters. Kelsey Kenny, a lesbian with two college- aged daughters is one, while recently divorced Isabella Burns, the mother of two school-aged sons is the other.
Meeting on a trip to the Virgin Islands, they quickly become friends and the novel is the story of how their relationship develops into so much more. The blended family of six get on very well. I thought that Isabella might have had some awkwardness with Kelsey, but this is not so. Bella's person just happened to be a woman.
I particularly enjoyed the setting of this story, as both Kelsey and Bella work together to publicize a lovely resort on one of the Virgin Islands dubbed a "holiday in Paradise".
Many thanks for another very enjoyable, light-hearted romance Jamey.

Kelsey and Isabella are wonderful single moms who come together on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to help a vacation resort with upgraded branding and improved website. They decide to come to this resort every month and blog about their fun experiences together to increase the numbers of guests. And it works! In the process over the year become fast friends and their relationship is very close…and then gets closer. Jamey works her usual deep relationship characterizations and then some added magic! This is up in my favorite books now

Another lovely romance from Ms Moody. Her books just get better and better. This one is set on The Virgin Islands and the description of the scenery makes me up sticks and emigrate.

Kelsey is a self employed web designer working for a resort on The Virgin Islands. She is sent to the resort to update the website. There she meets Isabella, who is a brand designer and also sent to the resort to help improve their branding.

On meeting at the airport and at the resort, they find that they have a a lot in common, both being single Mums. Kelsey is attracted to Isabella, but thinks she is straight. They both set out to improve the resort by meeting each month on the island and doing different things and posting their activities on social media.

The romance moves forward at a slow pace, leaving you plenty of time to imagine the sights and sounds of the area. As usual from Ms Moody, there is no aghast, just a lovely building romance.

A great read at any time, but especially during a cold day snuggled on the sofa. Would always recommend Ms Moody’s books, you know what you are going to get. A must read.

I could not put this book down, another home run by Ms. Moody. I fell in love with Kels and Bella and could not wait for them to see each other every month. Their work brings them back to the island resort every month to blog about their experience in order to increase business to the resort. Slowly they become fast friend and start to fall in love. Thank goodness we did not have to wait the full year for them to realize they were soulmates. I really liked that they had their "routines" when they saw each other every month and how they said their good byes. It was sweet and would be something I would do. The supporting characters were great and would to see their back stories (hint hint).

This is a MUST Read and I highly recommend it.

Oh my! Jamey Moody has written another love story that keeps you turning pages immersed in the everyday lives of the characters. There are familiar characters you loved from previous novels and two new MC’s that Jamey is introducing us to. What better place to take us to for this book than the Virgin Islands, with two new MC’s.

Isabella, a Branding Agent & Kelsey, a Web Designer, meet at the airport luggage carousel. They are both headed to the same place, Coral Bay Resort, but didn’t realize they would be working together for the resort.

At the meeting with Carmen, the CEO. Carmen tells them she would like to figure out a plan to increase business and revenue for the resort. Both women tell Carmen they will think about it. Since they are staying in cabins at the resort, they run into each other at dinner that night. In conversation they find out they are both single moms, alone without the kids for the first time over the Christmas holiday.

They try to brainstorm ideas as they enjoy each other’s company, walk along the beach, and enjoy nights on the porch getting to know each other.

They come up with a plan and Carmen loves the idea. They will provide a special package for each month, choosing sites on the island to highlight. They will return each month, visit the site chosen for that month, and video themselves enjoying the adventures at that site. Then they will take the video and blog about it on the site.

As the months unfold, Isabella (Bella) and Kelsy (Kels) are drawn closer together. They talk about their families, their lives and just enjoy each other’s company, while having fun at the same time!

This is a slow burn and drawn out as only Jamey Moody can do, but a very enjoyable to read! The description of the sites, scenery, beaches, and the bar they frequent are vivid and draws you in.

Pick up a copy and enjoy this slow burn romance!

I received an ARC from the author.

I really liked the bones of this story. It’s a neat concept, and the story itself is good. I liked the book well enough.

The reason I rated it 3 stars though is threefold:

One, the dialogue felt flat and a bit overly sappy to me. I often found myself skimming it quickly to get on with the story. I also felt like the dialogue was doing too much of the heavy lifting to move the story forward, and that most of the characters felt fairly similar in their speaking styles. This cost a star from my review.

Two, there was little internal monologue to show the characters motivations. I would have liked to hear more about what the characters themselves were thinking in the moments between dialogue. It often felt like stuff was just happening, and while I could imagine the motivations, I would have really liked to see that on the page. In particular, Isabella’s identity crisis didn’t feel as significant as it was made out to be, because the exposition on her thoughts about suddenly being attracted to a woman was lacking. I deducted a half star for this.

While there was some conflict in the story, such as the bit about whether or not to come out in their posts and the conflict with Spencer, it was glossed over and felt tacked on and insignificant as opposed to the crises they were presented as. The scene in Spencer’s office in particular fell very flat for me, lacking the sort of tension you’d expect confronting a homophobic ex about your new relationship to evoke. This cost half a star.

All in all, though, I did enjoy the book. If you’re looking for a sappy feel-good romance, it’s a good choice.

Every time I read a new book by Jamey Moody, I am convinced it’s my favorite by her…and then I read another! This is officially my er…current favorite and absolutely fabulous sapphic love story by Jamey Moody! This story follows two women into the next significant stage of their lives and into the next (and I believe last) great love in each other. I really appreciate Jamey telling stories of women in an age demographic I am a part of, finding a real & true love when they truly didn’t look for it or even anticipate it. Kelsey & Isabella were so lovely, real, caring, kind, and deep that I feel like I fell in love with them…while they fell for each other! Both women are single moms who have loved & lost and are in the next phase of their lives. While they both hit it off immediately and have a ton of chemistry it’s clear that they’re both surprised at the lust and love that follows. I enjoy their gradual progression toward friendship and then to so much more. A wonderful story of finding love when and where you least expect it. A sweet and lovely romance that is definitely a must read. Thank you Jamey for another winner.

Well. Now I know what a toaster oven romance is! I had no idea until I read the description on here!
This is quite a sweet book. 2 women meet on holiday over Christmas at a resort that they both do consulting work for and plan a marketing campaign which means they visit monthly and blog it.
You get to watch their progress throughout the year at the visits. An interesting idea.
Kelsey does not hear Isabella when she gives her name and calls her Bella. Because that is what she heard. It's hard to correct someone when they do that - I mean, who hasn't been called the wrong name for years because they were too polite to correct them.
If this book had come with a blank cover on it, or no author name, I could tell it was written by Jamey Moody. I have not seen anyone else use the word undies. It is sort of old fashioned but perhaps it is a trademark?

There is no epilogue - but there are 2 chapters that serve the same purpose. Showing how life goes on but with added happy.

I liked this book - and it taught me about a toaster oven romance.
