The machinations of the exiled gods are revealed, and Night Mage Verena “Wren” Harker and her Shield, tiger-shifter Aris Valorius, must hurry if they are to intercept the god of water before he is unleashed on their world.
Son of Day. Daughter of Night.
The Queen of Snakes plans to put the Books of Gold, Silver, and Bronze into play, and the fate of their world hangs in the balance – but the immortal scales have a terrible cost. Great magic requires great sacrifice. The gods gave up their ability to exist in the mortal realm in order to gift man with magic – will Wren and Aris be able to handle the price demanded of them?
In the conclusion to the “Game of Gods” series, Wren and Aris will be forced to choose between what they value most, and what will save them all. Will they be able to save the realm?
E. M. Leander lives in the American South with her husband, two children, and two ragdoll cats. A life-long lover of all things literary, when she’s not spending free time with family, she can be found devouring books and coffee in equal measure.
This action packed conclusion to the Game of Gods trilogy kept me guessing at every turn. A strong ending to a wonderful series! I find myself not wanting to leave these characters! I need more of them, but in a good way! E.M. Leander has created a world that I want to keep exploring and has left enough room for more stories to blossom from this magical world that she has developed.
Is E.M. Leander considering a spin off series? Because I am in FULL support of seeing more of the side characters and watching them evolve during their own adventures…just putting it out in the universe 😉🤗
The way I started to slow down during the last several chapters because I didn’t want the series to end!
Such a perfect ending! I enjoyed the multiple POVs and story lines throughout. The shifters & the mages and all the magic - just lovely! The world building was fun to read and each book in the series transitioned so well to the next!
And the love! The love between friends was so really and relatable. And the love stories…..😍
I received this book as an ARC and I am honored to have received it! I can not wait for your future books about this world.
What an incredible ending to this trilogy! I didn't want to put this story down. I feel like the writing in this book was some of Leander's best so far. There were a lot of different storylines happening, and I felt like nothing was missed, no loose ends! I did receive an ARC for this book, and thoroughly enjoyed my time with these characters. Lots of action, drama, and closed-door romance. Can't wait for future books in this world!!!
This series is one of my favorites and this book did not dissapoint! From the very first page to the last, I was enthralled! And that ending?! *chefs kiss*
Thank you to the author for allowing me to be a part of the ARC team! “The Immortal Scales” releases August 13, 2024!
Screaming. Lots, and lots, of completely unhinged screaming. My god, what a way to end a series!
With the revelation that the queen of snakes is planning to use the books of gold, silver, and bronze, time is running out for Wren and Aris to save Ocron. With betrayals and fractured hearts barring their way at every turn, the Night Mage and her shield are going to have to fight a completely uphill battle if they hope to keep their world in one piece.
I have been incredibly fortunate to be able to ARC read for all three of the “Game of Gods” books, and I have to tell you— they just kept getting better. We’ve gotten to see Wren go from a shunned, lonely girl running a lighthouse to the most powerful magic user on the continent and it’s been *glorious*. And she’s gotten to do it all with the most ridiculous, amazing tiger/guardian at her side. You could’ve left me at ‘magic-wielding woman has a tendency to attract animal companions’ and I’d have been happy, but this was so much better.
Where do I even begin to discuss this book? If you’ve seen my reviews for “Wren and the Tarnished Tiger” (book 1) and “Aris and the Obsidian Door” (book 2), then you already know that the magic and world building in this series has been amazing. We get to see so much more of all of it in this book as Wren and Aris travel and interact with more types of magic in a greater variety of settings, and it made me so happy. All of the locations have a unique feel to them, and it really helps ground the reader in the story, especially as our characters travel all over the place.
Also, those characters? I love them. They’re so wonderfully charming (or loathsome, depending on who you’re referring to), and they all have such distinct personalities. This book was particularly fun because we got to see things as they focused on more than just our two MCs, and it really rounded out the experience. It definitely didn’t help my stress levels, though, because then I was even *more* invested in how things turned out.
And the plot! Don’t even get me started (too late; I’m going to continue). You know where things have to end up, to some extent— handle the books, make sure the world doesn’t end. Getting there, though? Absolutely insane in the best way. There’s humor, there’s angst, there’s pain, there’s just the right amount of bittersweet thrown in. I was so invested that I read the whole thing in a day.
In case it wasn’t abundantly clear, I’ve loved this whole series. This book in particular, though, was incredible. It felt like the perfect ending to the trilogy, and yet I was so sad to see it come to an end. I want more stories in this world. I want to see these characters again, and I want to know even more about what life in this universe looks like in the aftermath of these events. (Fortunately the very kind author has taken pity on us poor readers and will be granting us a spin-off series) If you love stories full of magic, with strong characters who aren’t always perfect, with a lot of slow burn and tension, then this is the series for you. Go start at book 1 so we can yell about the series together!
Absolutely the perfect ending to this amazing trilogy. Wren and Aris’s story has just the sort of explosive ending that they demand.
We pick the story right where Aris and the Obsidian Door ended, and then proceed to kick a$$ and take names for the next 300ish pages. Both Aris and Wren grow so much as people and in their powers, it’s truly beautiful to see. The story is engaging, and you do not know what’s happening next but we absolutely trust EM Leander to lead us there (mostly) unscathed.
I read this book so quickly, I could not put it down. It will forever remain one of my favorite trilogies of 2024.
What a wild ride this was. Wren and Aris have been through so much up to this point, and with Aris being a complete and utter stupid male, Wren is the most patient woman ever. She should have made him suffer way more for being such an idiot! Anyways.
They're still searching for the books and a way to defeat their enemies, and through it all they have trusted friends by their sides. Although the betrayals in this one run deep and I did not expect some of the reveals.
So much emotion in this one, and so much heartbreak and healing. An amazing end to this journey we've taken with Wren and Aris.
Great conclusion to a great trilogy! The Immortal Scales concluded in an action packed scene that met all my expectations. Highly recommend you pick up this series and read it!
I am so thankful to @e.m.leander for allowing me to be an ARC Readee every step of the way in this amazing series. I truly can not express my gratitude to be able to promote this book series and be apart of her growth!
This is book three and the final in the #gameofgods trilogy and it was amazing!
This book was so action packed and I didn’t want to put it down! Every step of the way something was happening, drawing me in and not letting me go.
There were so many twists and turns along the way with betrayal after betrayal my head was spinning! I was so invested in our characters, feeling as if the walls were closing in along with them!
I loved the development between Aris and Wren! I had moments when I wanted to slap Aris only for Wren to basically do it for me and I felt so satisfied. However, they did grow to “get over themselves” and watching them finally put their egos aside and come together was beautiful!
My only concern is that a plot point was brought up with one of the Gods and it kind of just disappeared which was a bit confusing but this is my only “con” about the series.
I am so sad that this series is over. The author made such captivating characters and I find myself reluctant to let them go! The ending to this series was well planned and it went out with a bang!!
Congratulations on wrapping your first series , you deserve it!
I have been taken captive by this series since I met Aris and Wren in Book 1. I can go on and on about how I love the character development in these stories, the epic adventures this brood of "friends" take on, the smoldering, but clean romance, the articulate magical world building; it just works!
This was an epic conclusion to an epic story, and I honestly sobbed over these characters and all they went thru. I'm so very grateful to this author for letting me come along for the ride!
Good pacing. Dynamic characters with growth. Elemental magic that makes sense. It literally reads like an action-packed fantasy movie. I absolutely loved it.
