About the author

Ruth Ryan Langan (aka Ruth Langan) is an award-winning author of romance novels. She is a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award winner and has twice been nominated for Romantic Times Reviwers' Choice Awards, for Jade and Return of the Prodigal Son. She has spent much of her career writing historical romance novels for the Harlequin Historicals line of category romances. Many of her book are set in medieval times, while others are western romances. She has also written some contemporary romances, and often includes elements of suspense in her novels.

Langan began her writing career in secret. Her family discovered her writings when her children came home unexpectedly from school one day and found her writing. When Langan's husband was told of her hobby, he bought her an electric typewriter "because 'writers need tools'". Her first book was published by Silhouette Books in 1981 after an editor picked it out of their slush pile. After the first sale was completed, Langan got an agent.

Langan is a charter member of the Romance Writers of America. She has five children and lives with her husband in Michigan.

Estava com saudade de ler Ruth Langan



Vi alguns comentários negativos e desanimadores sobre esse livro e demorei a me atrever a ler. Sinceramente? Não me arrependi. Só não entendi porque a Nova Cultural trocou o nome do livro e da mocinha de Diamond para Esmeralda..., mas... cada editora e tradutor com sua mania.

Fiquei encantada com o enredo e os personagens e ri muito imaginando a potência desse Joseph Jewell... sem mais detalhes para não dar spoiler, mas o cara deve ter feito 4 filhas em 1 ano kkkkkkkkkk, com mães diferentes claro. E o Adam... ai ai é tudo de bom.

Exatamente porque esse detalhe meio estranho não ter significado tanto para me fazer desgostar do livro ou para me perturbar, não posso menosprezar em nada. A trama e os personagens, cada uma das irmãs com características físicas e emocionais diferentes, me instigaram a querer continuar lendo a série.

Não é um livro excepcional para levar 5 estrelas, mas dou 3,7 e arredondo para 4.

Recomendo para quem quer uma leitura mais leve. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I absolutely loved this book. I loved the fact that Diamond was able to come to terms with her sisters existence and accept them as family. And i liked the chemistry between Diamond and Adam even though it seemed almost impoosible at first.

Really enjoyed this book. I didn't think or rather I thought there was going to be more sister's. Diamond learned early. Land isn't everything. So sad. Parts of this book.

Considero a trama deste livro fascinante, porque além do assassinato do pai da Esmeralda e a chegadas das irmãs, tem o romance delicioso da Esmeralda com o misterioso e lindo Adam, não é por nada, mas todo Adam é sexy, seja moreno, loiro, ruivo ou negro. Todos são de tirar o fôlego e este não é diferente.

Sem contar que os livros, da queridíssima Ruth Langan, são ótimos. Ela já foi minha autora predileta, mas perdeu a cadeira, para Diana Palmer que é simplesmente maravilhosa. Mas isso não desmerece os excelentes romances históricos que ela escreve.

Ruth tá em segundo lugar na minha lista.

Voltando a estória, mesmo desconfiando que o lindíssimo Adam possa ter matado seu adorado pai, Esmeralda se apaixona pelo lindo. E as cenas dos dois são fantásticas, porque ela é doidinha de pedra, tem um temperamento fortíssimo e apesar de viver numa fazenda, cercada por piões e fazer tudo que um homem faz numa fazenda, ela é completamente ingênua no que se refere ao amor, ao flerte e a paixão.

E como ela não tem muito tato na arte de flertar, acaba metendo os pés pelas mãos e deixando suas irmãs no comando do show. Obvio que não da muito certo porque em vez de aproximar o casal elas conseguiram afastá-los. Mas, como Esmeralda tem personalidade, e muito forte, não se deixa abater e do seu jeito consegue mostrar para Adam, que o importante é o amor.

Ridiculous and predictable. This is the 3rd book by Langan I have read and I decided this would be the decider (1 up 1 down so far). Don't think this review is by a non-romance reader who doesn't get the genre, because I am a big romance fan but this was just too ridiculous in it's plot elements. I found myself becoming annoyed at what I have picked up as the author's worst habits/traits in this book. Glossing over the backstory of the sisters and the father so we're left wondering and unsatisfied. Having each of them fit perfectly into a mould when so much time had been spent making other lesser characters interesting (to set up for sequels but still annoying). I actually wasn't bothered by the cheesy names Diamond, Jade, Pearl, Ruby and Onyx Jewel, and I could have gotten past it easily except that rather than explaining the characters properly, it seemed like the author expected us to understand them solely from their name, which is ridiculous and annoying. Again some of the heroines actions made no sense whatsoever to the reader or the other characters and we never really find out what she was thinking to make her do them.
There are definite elements of this book I like and I think the plot had definite potential, but it fell down in a few key areas and they just tookme out of the story which is a real deal-breaker for me.

I read this series twenty years ago when they were first released. I loved them so much that I shared them so many times I lost track of who had them last and they are now lost. I was thrilled to see them available in kindle. They are wonderful books and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did. I enjoyed them so much I've decided to read them again.

Liked this one a whole lot, but knew who the villain was. Didn't like the names, but the story was pretty good.
